i think we as a fandom sometimes forget what variety of hot oliver is. like he's canonically "handsome" at the very least, and inherently sexy by virtue of being an end avatar, sure, but he is also very much a Nerd.

he's an ex-accountant. ex-accountant because he had a nervous breakdown and had to quit. he could be goth, but might not be. he's not a grim reaper, he does no reaping of souls, he just does the paperwork about em. he quite literally sent jon a telepathic coroner's report. he stutters and is awkward with people. he is tortured with visions. and above all else he is so, so sleepy.

Gertrude was observant, Elias had figured as much decades ago. Well, Jonah had, Elias was technically only just learning this. But, it was not news to him either way. It had certainly been interesting to see the way she approached her work and the way she carried herself. But - there was quickly becoming a concern about it all. A fact that was only made more obvious by her little comment. How much did she actually know? Has she been down in the tunnels?

“The Watcher needs little, you know this,” Elias glazed over the comments about his identity, a fact he will neither confirm nor deny, “It is simply happy to watch. It cares little what the outcomes of the rituals will be, it is just curious to see how. You, Gertrude Robinson, are the Archivist collecting this data for the Watcher to observe. Nothing more simple in the world.”

The real question here was what she planned to do now. She’d always been resistant to the powers, to fear itself. So, what was she going to do now? What sort of preparations did he need to make? Was it time, once again, to replace his archivist and start again?

Slowly, Elias started to step closer to Gertrude, keeping those old eyes locked with her own, “You think I am upset about the rituals being stopped? What would I care? As you said, they do not benefit the Eye other than for it to observe what happens. So, I do not understand why you are so set against me.”
