For Elias: what do you do on your spare time? Do you HAVE spare time? What happens between all the scheming? Tea?

"Tea is a given. Especially considering a certain archival assistant who keeps a pot on at all times in the break room," Elias leaned forward on his desk, lacing his fingers together as he gently tapped his thumb against the other hand, "I'm a very busy man, as you may guess. This institute has a great many people coming and going at all times of day. The staff is large, with the most of them working in research. Between all the paperwork and scheduling, my time is spent keeping an eye on those who work for me. Typically, I can only watch one department at a time, but none need as much attention as the archives."

At that, he tilted his head to one side, his eyes pointing down to the ground, to the floor and below. He listened intently for a moment before the grin spread across his face, a brief flash before straightening his shoulders again, "Spare time is spent serving a higher power. And keeping a certain someone on the right path. There's no need for anything else. Though," he held a finger up, a thought occuring to him, "Peter does pop up now again to chat. He's at least the more tolerable of the lot of frightful servants."

Jonah Magnus is just the pawn who got it right. He got what he wanted, alright, but the question is if he feels the cost is worth it?

"Yes, I quite imagine you are," Elias mused, his mostly flat tone not bothered by the fact he'd interrupted him, "There's no need for the tone, I was simply stopping down to check how you're doing."

Jon's progress was slow, but it was still progress. Still a ways off from the next mark, and yet closer all the time. If only he would give in and just listen, really listen, to what was being given to him. It could be truly spectacular.

"You resist too much. If you continue as you are, you will never get through enough," Elias just sighed, "You know that."

jon saying that most of the other archivists went a similar way to gertrude implies that jonah magnus had a habit of murdering his archivists whenever they started to threaten to fuck his shit up. which is funny in contrast to how he presents himself as a enigmatic puppet master pulling the strings from behind the scenes when in reality the moment anyone starts to pose a threat to him he’s like “oh god oh fuck guess it’s uhhhh time for some brutal pipe murder”

I have a soft spot for @officialspec‘s Elias design because he scares me- so therefore, I love him
