But what if what started out as one mark turned into three with the existence of Steven and Jake? Yes Marc’s soulmate was always his but because Steven and Jake are apart of Marc, and support Marc the soulmates soul connects with their too.

Do u think Marc would be accepting of a soulmate? Like his self worth is so low that I can’t imagine he’d be thrilled with the idea. I mean just look at what happened with Layla… now something where he’s the “only option” for them or it’s forced or required or whatever…… idk he seems like he’d be very not down with the idea at all. I mean even look at your time loop fic where he tried to hurt the reader cuz he was scared and all that….. even in a normal relationship where they’re choosing him he doesn’t feel safe.

Idk I feel like Steven would be thrilled with the idea and I’m not sure about jake. Do you think that the reader would have three different whatever’s (words, strings, etc.)?

No, you're definitely correct. Marc would really struggle with something like a soulmate. He would feel very much like the attachment is forced. It definitely wouldn't be the kind of soulmate that you instantly find love with. The connection and pull of course would be there, its a soulmate connection, so of course. But Marc would fight it every step of the way. There's no way, in his mind, that someone is saddled with him. Fated to be with him. He has an insecure attachment style so even if he was fine with it at first, he might doubt it easily later, maybe especially after you meet his alters.

It would be a long road. It would take a lot of little things to convince Marc, okay, this is real, they are meant for me, they're meant for all of us.

Steven, yeah, he'd be absolutely thrilled. Even if Jake isn't necessarily excited by the idea, he gets used to it pretty easily and is on board with the notion.

I have considered writing a soulmate au before but never took the steps to actually do it because I can't decide how it would work. If there's only one mark, word, etc. it might take away from Steven and Jake, BUT if there are three then it uses the same pre-deterministic thinking Wendy, Harrow, Ammit use against Marc/humanity against Wendy, like she was always going to commit the abuse she did, so Steven and Jake were always meant to come into existence. (ie when Marc was born, it was not set in stone what would later happen)

If there were only one mark/word then it could just be the body that is connected. Marc would see that as an excuse to remove himself, because clearly its Steven's or Jake's soul you're meant to connect with.

If it's his name that's etched on you somewhere? He'd really fucking struggle with that. Like he's branded you.

I think tropes that could work really well, considering Marc is a part of a system would be; having the same finger prints, getting the same emotions, shared memories, shared injuries, see in color when you finally meet, etc.

All of these of course, Marc would still struggle with. He'd try to convince you it was only for either Steven or Jake. Never him.

As someone who’s always struggled with having a bigger chest and being embarrassed from the over sexualization of it this is amazing!
