So, Who Wants A Review Of Rogers The Muscial?

So, who wants a review of Rogers the Muscial? 😂

This seems terrible from an MCU canon perspective.

The songs give strong 'Zero to Hero' and 'I Can Go the Distance' from Hercules vibes.

Get this: Bucky appears on stage once! Has about three lines when he gets conscripted and is never seen again. You don't see his rescue or 'death'. And Steve's 'I'm with you till the end of the line' line is used for Peggy. Because of course it is. 🙄

Sam is never mentioned nor a character. You see a projection of Sam as Cap briefly before Steve goes back in time. But there's zero context.

But the thing that gets me is how this is the 'show' that exists in Hawkeye. So there's a BUNCH of classified information about the Avengers that I guess is just public knowledge?

I guess the world knows that Steve went back in time? So why the theory that he's on the Moon? The Avengers actually told the world that TIME TRAVEL exists? Nobody sees a problem with that?

(Also, for my girl Sharon. I'm sorry, babe, but if the world created a musical about how my ex went back in time to hook up with my aunt, I'd absolutely turn villain 100%. You deserve better 😘)

Okay so the musical is only 30 minutes long. But it still seems pretty terrible, story-wise. And is clearly a cash grab. BUT THE WORLD KNOWS STEVE WENT BACK IN TIME???

I can't get over that.

Oh, and justice for Bucky. (I guess since the 'musical' is 'produced' by Stark Industries, Pepper is holding a grudge against him, so cut him out of history? Harsh.)

A Captain America musical without (really) either of Cap's best friends. Wild.

I can think of an MCU character who is a stalker according to these criteria, and it's not portrayed as manic or unbalanced, but like when a man does it and 'gets the girl' and it's romanticized.

You've got:

Watching Stalk-ee from a distance when they've never spoken.

Not respecting Stalk-ee's personal space (especially creepy as it was the actor's improv! 😥).

Turning up at Stalk-ee's work uninvited/hitting on and/or fixating on Stalk-ee at work (to the point of Stalker being told off by their boss).

Turning up at places Stalk-ee is socialising uninvited, using an excuse for why they're there.

*Intercepting contact between Stalk-ee and others to draw attention/make Stalk-ee talk to/about Stalker instead, even when lives are in danger -- more than once! (not one of this vid's criteria but it fits?)

Following Stalk-ee / insisting on being included in what Stalk-ee is doing -- even tho Stalker doesn't like what they're doing/disagrees with it -- and Stalker's input on said activity is ignored/irrelevant to Stalk-ee.

Monitoring Stalk-ee and getting angry and confronting Stalk-ee about it when the monitoring is interfered with/Stalk-ee doesn't contact them.

Pulling the Elaborate Ambush/Grand Gesture/Manipulative Public Spectacle Ploy, to ask Stalk-ee out in front of all their friends, believing they are paying Stalk-ee a compliment by doing this (assuming it is welcome and taking Stalk-ee's polite silence/absence of an answer as a 'yes.' Textbook 'if she wasn't interested why did she smile?' behaviour.)

'Not taking no for an answer' in the form of 'just assuming Stalk-ee wants them/not considering that 'no' even could be an answer.'

Becoming physically violent / abusive and insulting Stalk-ee when the Manipulative Public Spectacle ploy fails.

Trying to publicly shame Stalk-ee with said violence when they express interest in someone else -- even tho Stalk-ee never said they were interested in Stalker in the first place, they're not dating. And being smug and quippy about Stalk-ee's resulting fear of them. (Classic controlling Gaston-style 'you're a stupid slut/prude anyway' / 'how dare you want someone else besides me??' post-rejection behaviour. This is more 'horror movie' than 'romance movie' trope -- but in the film they played it straight, as if it was fine!)

Taking Stalk-ee's capitulation after that violence👆 as acceptance of Stalker's advances (again, women in movies are taken to have said yes simply because they haven't said no; male stalkers get this response when they have been relentless enough to 'earn' the girl. In another appearance Stalker said they had 'earned' their happy ending -- meaning, with Stalkee.)

Taking a candid image of Stalk-ee, taken without Stalk-ee's knowledge / that Stalk-ee didn't give them (another non-criteria from the vid; interestingly, both parties do this, but Stalk-ee is doing this with a staged / voluntarily-taken image of Stalker, after Stalker has been violently abusive at Stalk-ee's lack of prior reciprocity. 😬)

*Talking about themselves and Stalk-ee to others/the public as if they were in a romantic relationship (when they only spoke a dozen times & never dated, and despite Stalker being married to someone else for years by this point!)

And all this👆 after Stalk-ee explicitly told Stalker that they found the opposite sex terrifying, romance doesn't matter to them, they weren't looking to date currently, and that they wanted to wait and not date anyone, period, until they found the right person… which they said after they had already met Stalker. 😵

The narrative continues to frame this as 'love' and two-sided… even though they never dated, only met a handful of times, and one of them (as the vid mentioned!) develops dementia!

(In their own tv show, Stalker also did that Crazy Ex Girlfriend example from the vid -- to another, different Stalk-ee -- and moved across the Continent to be where ex was living. They had recently dumped Stalker and moved on to someone else… whom Stalker, of course, contrived to meet and show off to.)

Despite all this and much worse behaviour, Stalker character is venerated to a baffling extent, given multiple tv shows of their own, and held up as some kind of paragon.

And this is a female character in the MCU!

Funny how Peggy had Steve's photo on her table and set the very nazi he risked life and lost a man capturing lose in the same office. Some respect she had for him. Another proof she only used him as a ladder without his consent

It's like if Pepper had a giant photo of Tony up in her office (turned to face anyone who walks in) at Stark Industries, "Birthplace of Iron Man!" just to remind everyone how special she is.

Only if Pepper and Tony had never actually got around to dating.

It's not romance, it's self-promotion.

(What's funny is that in CATFA Phillips said he was about 2 seconds away from firing Peggy (because she's expendble, whereas Stark wasn't, he said) when Steve et al marched back into camp. But then in the AC short she's like 'how dare you imply I only have a job because of Steve?!' When Steve ... literally is the reason she still has a job. They showed him being the reason she still has a job in the damn movie!)

If Markus & McFeely Wrote Female Characters The Same Way They Wrote Steve Rogers:

‘the real tragedy of Natasha Romanoff’s ealy life was that… 😔 she had no boyfriend’

'Captain Marvel’s amnesia was sad because… 😔 it stopped her getting a boyfriend’

'Three generations of Wanda’s family were killed but even worse… 😔 she was man-less’

'FemaleCharacter’s story had a good ending because… she finally got a boyfriend!!’ 🤩

Male character who has been following the Heroine around all movie after she specifically said she isn’t looking to date right now: This scene of your triumph is complete because… I am announcing I am available for you to date. You’re welcome. 😌

The Same Character Later on: I am violently attacking you and publicly shaming you for receiving unwanted attention from another man – how dare you do that when I specifically said I would be available for you to date, and that’s ALL you’re supposed to care about, Female Character!!

Sexy Male character in the sequel who has been subtly hitting on the Heroine all movie: Look, I get that your family is dead your best friend is dead and everyone else you ever heard of is dead, and you’re alone in the future but…. when are you going to get a boyfriend?? *in the middle of fighting bad guys* Why don’t you let me set you up on a date with a guy? *kicking Nazis off rooftops* What about Laurence from Accounts, he likes you? *having just escaped Nazi death squad* When was the last time you even last kissed a man? *dodging missiles* Seriously you don’t even have like a casual boyfriend?! *in a graveyard after they’ve brought down an entire alphabet agency* Girl what about that male nurse next door he seems nice-

....this is literally the concept art of 'jealousy' scene in the first Captain America movie. Not saying there's a more 'correct' way of getting assaulted but the way he's posed makes it even clearer that this was always meant to be a scene where Steve was very visibly SA'd.... and then punished for it.
