Can we please stop associating being a good person with how much you're willing to suffer in silence for other people? You can be a kind person and still say "no, I don't have the time/energy to help you with that." You can be a kind person and still say "this makes me uncomfortable, please stop." You can be a kind person and still say "I disagree and here's why." You can be kind and still say "I'm not okay with this." Being kind is about treating people with kindness and respect, not about being the human equivalent of a doormat!

bts once again stand for the message of self-love in a way that says: care about yourself first and foremost. dont be scared to dream and dream big. when you fail, when you fall, pick yourself up, tell yourself “just again this once” and do this every time you find yourself at rockbottom. they’re saying listen to your heart, find what you love, find your joy, and follow the things that make you happy. find your own path, be open to the future and what might await you, dont get discouraged by what other people can do and what you cant - learn, grow, find your own voice. they say: you are strong and you can become even stronger. you will find your own way. follow your heart.
White people: if you want to help long term: get used to being told your opinion is wrong, irrelevant, or unwanted. Tell your friends to get used to it. Work on getting used to it and do this work with other white people. Because white supremacy has all of y’all very used to being right and being an inherently valued voice and if we’re going to fight white supremacy you’re going to have to be comfortable surrendering that expectation and also white people will need to learn how to handle being rejected or disagreed with. It’s an extension of racism and racial trauma for black people to try and educate or speak up about our issues only to expose ourselves to your white fragility which makes you defensive– this defensiveness can look like shutting down, silencing us, painting all corrections or disagreements as ‘fighs’ (extending the idea that black people are aggressive) etc.
White resilience is the opposite of white fragility and black people are VERY good at resilience, unfortunately. Listen to us we know how to combat this.
i’ve noticed things on twt begin to wind down as far as protest posts and general discussion in BLM, and i just want to stress that just because you’re able to go back to your “normal, usual” routine of posting about kpop, please remember that black people are constantly fighting against oppression, constantly faced with the disgusting threat of racism and discrimination, and constantly at risk of police brutality and racially motivated violence. just because it’s not trending on twt anymore, please do not forget everything you have seen these past couple of weeks - please continue to support, sign petitions whenever you come across any, and when you can, donate to trustworthy organisations that benefit and uplift the black community. they continue to need the support of white and non-black people, so please do not give up. while for us, this may have been a shocking few days, for the black community, it’s a daily occurance. please continue to advocate for change and check in on your black friends and mutuals, show your support and shower them with love! here is a useful post of blm carrds which are packed with information that is updated regularly! stay up to date on what is going on, and educate yourself!!!! thank u - and to my black mutuals, i love u and i support u 💜
it’s hard to remember that u have no obligation in life other than to be kind and give love. like. you were not put on this earth to work a part time job or get a degree or have a fancy career. you were put on this earth to smile and make other people smile, to spread happiness. your reason for living doesn’t have to go any deeper than ‘living’. just breathe. make friends with a plant. drink your water. i fucking love you.
