Imagine telling your boyfriend, Voight, you’re pregnant.

“Hank?” you call as you let yourself into his place using your key. You’d just gotten back from the doctor’s to confirm the news. You hadn’t wanted to tell him until you were sure, and those flimsy little pregnancy tests just weren’t concrete enough for you.

Now, there was no doubt about it.

“In here!” comes back from the kitchen, and you follow the sound of his voice to find him making himself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch. Hank gestures to the loaf of bread with a jelly-covered knife and asks, “Hey, you. Want some lunch? What have you been up to?”

“I just got out of a doctor’s appointment and I didn’t get to eat this morning. I’m starving,” you add as you go closer to place a kiss on his cheek.

His brow furrows, “You sick?”

“No,” you shake your head with a grin, laying it on him, “I’m pregnant.”

He nearly drops the knife.

Imagine you and Jim searching for your toddler son and when you do find him, he’s seated himself in the captain’s chair.

You had effectively looked everywhere, and resigned yourself back to the bridge in an effort to hopefully find someone who had seen your missing toddler. Exasperated and somewhat worried, you step foot off the elevator and onto the bridge, Jim squeezing your hand comfortingly at your side.

“We’ll find him— he’s probably just found himself a good hiding spot,” Jim attempts to soothe your nerves, and you offer him a smile before your eyes scan the length of the bridge.

“Jim,” you sigh in relief, “I think we’ve found him.” There, sitting right in the middle of the captain’s chair, was your son.

You hear Kirk laugh, approaching the boy, “What’re you doing up here, little man? Do you know how long we’ve been looking for you?”

“I’m the cap’n now!” the toddler squeals with delight, utterly ignoring most of his father’s conversation in favor of excitedly demonstrating his likeness.

Giggling, you brush back the hair from the boy’s forehead, placing a gentle kiss there, “Oh, are you? You’re taking the reigns from Dad, huh?”
