Heyo there! I'm a scruffy-haired, quiet-mannered 4th year animation student from Ireland. I love drawing cute, colourful stuff, sipping tea, and snoozing all weekend. This is my artblog, wherein I periodically post digital 'n traditional artstuffs and follow lots of lovely, inspiring artists. they/them

Sherlocked! I Stumbled Across This Little Sketch Last Night While Looking For Material To Put In My Portfolio's

Sherlocked! I stumbled across this little sketch last night while looking for material to put in my portfolio's digital doodle compilation page. I cleaned it up a bit, and I think it'll make the cut now. Cumberbatch's glorious cheekbones could cut anything. A side note; oh my goodness I'm nervous about this portfolio assessment stuff. I'm applying to IADT's animation course and they'll be making their decision about me on Wednesday. There's a dizzy blend of terrified and optimistic anxiety going on in my brain chemicals right now. *clutches knees to chest and rocks back and forth in place*

Also, here's a sketchbook doodle of Merlin with some digital washes! I know I'll regret getting invested in this show because of the emotional onslaught that surely lies ahead, but dang I love these ridiculous Medieval boyfriends and their adventures. :3

A tribute to one of my favourite poets - the great Edgar Allan Poe! This was really fun to draw, I find there's something soothing about working in tones. Also, I managed to finish it in a noticeably shorter stretch of time than what I might usually spend at something of this sort… so, I'm feeling happy about my incremental improvement!

Whoops, I forgot to actually upload the poster itself yesterday, so here it is! The event's free, so be sure to go if you like classical music and are around Cork next month. :D
This is such a perceptive, generous post, I… I can't even. Cassidy Stone, folks; a person whose life is seemingly a continuous, graceful progression of awesomeness!
"Take joy in the process" is something I really want to take to heart. Goals are often practical and a helpful source of motivation, but it's so important not let the uncertainty in attaining them affect your sense of self-worth. The very fact that you've committed yourself to an endless process of improving at, appreciating, and further understanding something you care about is, in itself, success! Not a fleeting kind of success, but one you can draw strength and inspiration from indefinitely. It can be difficult, like most things that matter, but there's also so much joy and personal fulfillment to be found in pursuing something that's deeply important to you. So, love the process!
On success and process
Just a rant under the cut about art and life, mostly as encouragement to myself and also because of watching some of my favorite artists on tumblr struggle a little lately.
