So one trope in spirk fanfiction (haven’t checked with other pairings tbh) is Kirk agreeing ahead of time to help with Spock’s next (or first if it’s aos) pon farr

Yet, what a lot of those fics don’t have is those two getting a preliminary bond, which you think they would cause isn’t that pretty much the whole purpose of those bonds “hey unless something changes I’m willing to help with your pon farr” ?

So I was thinking about that and now I’m just laughing at it being a slippery slope

Kirk: Don’t worry about it, Spock, I’ll help out

Spock: Then we’ll need a preliminary bond

Kirk: Okay

Spock: Which many Humans view as an engagement

Kirk: Okay?

Spock: So out of respect for you, I will procure us some rings

Kirk: …You don’t have t-

Spock: To make sure you are absolutely safe, however, I think a full bond would be more logical
