If Anyone Ever Mocks You For Studying So Much, Ignore Them.

If anyone ever mocks you for studying so much, ignore them.Ā

If anyone ever feels offended that youā€™re prioritizing school work over them, donā€™t worry about them.

If anyone ever makes you feel less than because youā€™reĀ ā€œnot doing as much asā€ them, donā€™t compare yourself to them.

Youā€™re working as hard as you can, and no one can tell you otherwise. Donā€™t let anyone make you feel less than for doing your best.

Introduction 2017

Hello! Iā€™m a 14 year old high school freshman. I am not the best at studying, hence why I made this studyblr (along with a few other reasons). I want to be able to feel encouraged and motivated to do what I need to do every single day.

This studyblr wont be the best looking one nor the most active on, at first, but I will try my very best to make it the best as I can every single day.

Subjects you might see me studying

School Subjects:

Algebra 1

Biology

Pre-AP English 1

Dual Credit Speech

AP Spanish 4

AP Human Geography

Non-School Subjects:

Korean Language

(this list will get bigger as I find more interest and have a bit more time)

This year I want to be able to get out of my very unhealthy habit of: procrastinating, bad eating, major love for kpop (it wont happen i will forever love BTS) ,not exercising, laziness.(etc.)

Later on I will post aĀ ā€œGe To Know Meā€ post, if you guys want that, where ill share random little facts about me as well as my plans and goals for 2017 and my life.

Some studyblrs that inspire me:

@tbhstudying @academiicsĀ @idkstudyblr @academiix @mednotes @ambitiousandcaffeinated @paperandcaffeine @studyblr @etudiance @highlightcrs @studyandtea @studydiaryofamedstudent @lifeinatextbook@zeestudies @apricot-studies @aescademic @brbimstudying @byulstudies @cafeinated @caffestudy @studeying @studyrelief @smoinerd (and a few others)

Anyway hereā€™s to a productive year!

Since I Consider Myself A Big Sis To All Of You, I Have Made A Small List Of Academic And Misc. Tips

Since I consider myself a big sis to all of you, I have made a small list of academic and misc. tips to make college/university not suck as bad.

Academic

If you get distracted in large lecture halls, sit in the front row. I discovered in large classes that I was sometimes more focused on the girl in front of me being on facebook, than I was on the actual lecture. Sitting in the front is always a good idea. It is honestly the easiest tip I have for you.

RECORD YOUR LECTURES! How ever you decide to take notes, you can also record your lectures. I use notability to take notes and to record my lectures with. When reviewing before an exam, recordings are a lifesaver. Also just reviewing after class, it deff helps to clear up anything that was slightly unclear in your notes.

Dress comfy for class. Literally no one care what you wear to class. Donā€™t feel like you haaaave to look cute, I understand wanting to look good to feel good for yourself but sometimes nike shorts are gonna be your best option.

Book group study rooms in the library. If your libraries on campus are anything like mine, theyā€™re always packed. BUUUUUT it is very likely that your library has a way to reserve library rooms, thus guaranteeing you a silent study place on campus. Book ahead for finals week!!

GOOGLE DOCS. Once you make a good study group, condense all of your notes together on a google doc shared between you all. Google docs and slides Ā are also amazing for group projects and presentations. Become familiar with both, they are your new best friends.

Misc.

Starbucks has a loyalty program, get on it. I worked as a barista and literally the gold card program starbucks has will safe you a ton. There are literally 10 Starbucks on my campus, you will become familiar with yours. Download the app and start collecting points now! Also a pro-tip, skip the lattes and frappuccinos. Drip coffee is the best option for you, it is cheaper, better for you, and has the most caffeine besides the iced coffee. Also, once youā€™re a loyalty member at starbucks, refills on all coffee and tea is FREE.Ā

Keep snacks in your bag, itā€™s not rocket science. You get hungry, eat. The more protein, the better.Ā

Easy way to talk to someone in class. Pull out a pack of gum. Has not changed from high school. Having ā€œclass friendsā€ is needed. Theyā€™re great for getting notes from if you miss class and for getting together to study with!

Hi, Ive Been Getting Messages About How To Get Motivated/sustain Motivation In School. However, I Was

Hi, Iā€™ve been getting messages about how to get motivated/sustain motivation in school. However, I was not sure about how to answer them because Iā€™m a certified Lazy Assā„¢ whose motto in school is ā€œSLEEP WHEN YOU CANā€. I Ā tried my best to come up with a decent answer, though, and I hope this post will help someone ^_^ Soooo, here it goes:

1. Understand the concept of motivation.

Motivation is the drive to do something. It is important, because it helps a person (re-)focus their goals. Through (re-)examining the forces that drives a person to achieve, one can uncover oneā€™s reasons for achieving something.

There are two kinds of motivation: extrinsic motivation and intrinsic motivation. Extrinsic motivation is motivation that comes from outside forces, as in, one is motivated to get high grades to make their parents proud. On the other hand, intrinsic motivation is motivation that comes from within, as in, one is motivated to answer math problems because one feels satisfaction in solving those problems. Different instances necessitate different kinds of motivation, and one personā€™s motivation may not really be effective for another.

ā€œMotivationā€ is so much more complex than that, though, so here are some readings on the topic: x x x x x

Personally, I believe that motivation can only take a person so far, because what happens when you literally have no drive to do anything? My banner says ā€œdiscipline outlives motivationā€, because Iā€™ve learned that thereā€™s something better than to wait for peak motivation to hit, which is to:

2. Develop good study habits.

Turn studying into a behavior. The goal is to make studying a natural part of oneā€™s routine, as natural as, say, opening Tumblr or Instagram. (Because you donā€™t need much (or any) motivation to check social media).

Hereā€™s a long answered ask on how to make a study plan in three easy steps and another answered ask on how to balance tasks.

3. Discover how you best study.

Every person learns differently. For example, Iā€™m a visual learner, and I learn best by seeing and arranging information on a page. I rewrite notes to make them pretty, and I doodle all the time. Audiobooks and lecture recordings donā€™t really work for me (but they can work for you). Discovering how one studies would tremendously help anyone, since it can be frustrating to study without retaining information. Conversely, it is motivating when one understands what one is studying.

Learn what kind of learner you have by taking this quiz or answering these questions, then take a look at these posts to see some studying tips based on how you learn:

4. Surround yourself with people who support what youā€™re doing.

Studying is difficult enough as it is, and you donā€™t really need to make it more difficult by having people around you telling you that you donā€™t really need to study for that test. I was really lazy in college, and I would rather sleep than study, but I was able to get good grades, because I lived with people who persevered in their studies. Because they were studying late into the night, I also got into that habit (albeit grudgingly at first). We all inspired each other, made cups of coffees for each other, and even took naps together. Having supportive people around will make you realize that you are not alone in this struggle to study, and that youā€™re all going to make it out alive.

5. Ā Do things apart from studying.

Youā€™re a person, not a studying machine. Studying is only a part of life, not your whole life itself. Find a hobby, stay true to your art, volunteer at a dog shelterā€”itā€™s your call. Just keep being passionate about something else other than studying. This ā€œsomething elseā€ can help you release stress as well as motivate you. You must also understand that millennials, more than any other generation, mix work and play, sometimes to the point where the two are indistinguishable. Playing is not a crime, millennials. Itā€™s only natural. (Remember itā€™s okay to take a break. Alexander Hamilton was asked to take a break, he refused to, and you all know what happened to him >_>)

Whew, that was a mouthful uwu I really hoped I made sense. Feel free to add to this post! :)
