The ring of your doorbell scaring you from your focused state dropping your textbook and rushing to the door in hopes to find something more interesting then Sociology.

“I need your help.”

You couldn’t take him seriously rainbow glitter sparkling in his hair as you heard screaming coming from next door.

“Is that-“

“Yes it’s Odessa, just please come and help me.”

“Gray I’m not a mom I struggle with taking care of Phoenix for fucks sake.”

The little orange and white cat turning the corner at the mention of her name.

“Just come help me-“

“I-“

Before you could finish your sentence he’s grabbing your arm and pulling you towards the house. Walking into it you could tell it wasn’t in its normal state. More messy than normal, toys and bottle sprawled around, Spills that have yet to be clean.

“Your life has really went to hell huh?”

“Shut up, she’s upstairs.”

“I gotta go by myself?”

“Yes I’ve tried everything and I need to clean. This seems more like a mother and daughter thing and you are the best I have currently.”

You sigh and continue up the stairs turning and going into the pink fairy light lit room the three-year-old kicking her arms and legs as she thrashed around in her bed.

“What’s going on, little mama?” you ask in a gentle voice

She doesn’t acknowledge you at first releasing another heartbreaking scream from her lungs you cover your ears until she done turning on her stomach to cry into her pillow.

“Come on, you don’t wanna talk to miss y/n? I bet if I brought over Phoenix you would talk then.”

She perks up at the sound of her favorite neighborhood pet the one that despised Gray but loved her. Due to Grayson’s allergies the only pet Odessa could have was a goldfish which she got bored of very quickly after a few hours of it blowing bubbles at her.

“Kitty?”

You nod and her facial features soften cheeks still red and puffy, eyes still pouring tears.

“I’ll let you see kitty if you talk to me, now what’s wrong?”

“Daddy has a new girlfriend and I don’t like her, she’s always calling me names and being mean to me and daddy only talks to her not me I don’t like it.”

Your eyes widen and she pouts and huffs crossing her arms over her chest. Grayson had always struggled to move on after Odessa’s mom left him for his childhood best friend, she was a lowlife to say the least . He hadn’t been on a date in a while from your knowledge. Not to mention the desperate housewives coming up to him almost daily, begging for just a drop of his. attention in which he would decline saying that Odessa was all he needed it even surprised you that he was with someone.

“Did you tell your daddy?”

She nods moving onto your lap

“He said I was too little to understand.”

You nod and wrap your arms around the little girl her head falling against your chest breathing slowly and returning back to normal as she calmed down completely exhausted from the anger and emotions that had just ran through her body

”Do you want to go see-“

Your voice stops as her little snores filled the room her thumb finding her mouth only for you to replace with a pacifier you found on her nightstand knowing how Grayson gets when he finds her sucking her thumb worrying that she will have to get braces when she grows up.

For a moment you felt proud of yourself able to soothe a baby and get her to sleep without a problem. You lay in her bed for a while staring up at the ceiling her galaxy projector still on even if though it was the middle of the day

A few minutes later Grayson makes his way into the room smiling at the two of you.

“See I told you, you are good at this.”

“She’s upset at your girlfriend doesn’t like her, and feels as if she’s taking you away from her.”

“That’s just because Odessa is spoiled she’s used to everyone’s eyes being on her I think she can handle sharing the spotlight with one more person.”

You shrug

“I think you should talk to her, and your girlfriend makes sure they're both happy. You know Odessa is your daughter bringing a foreign stranger around her without preparing her was a.dumbass decision.”

”When you become a parenting expert?”

”Just now.”

You smile laying Odessa back in her bed removing her from your chest. Your hand coming to tuck a couple of her chocolate curls behind her ear your charm bracelet chiming at the slight movement.

”What's up with your bracelet and that locket? You always have it on and it has the weirdest charms I've ever seen.”

You shake your head rubbing your thumb against the golden heart, mind drifting back to the first time you... before knocking you back into the present.

”Trust me you don't want to know, I'll be over tomorrow to get her so she can visit Phoenix?”

He nods and you stand to your feet walking carefully down the stairs not to trip over any toys as you make your way back over to your house.
