NORTHANGER ABBEY sebastian vettel + one bed trope
CLOSE FOR COMFORT. ❨ sebastian vettel x reader ❩
the hotel wasn’t anything special, but it would do — and after six hours on the road, one dodgy engine, and the sun falling quickly, you’d both decided it would be best to stop. sebastian had insisted on driving most of the way to belgium, something about wanting to have a proper look at the scenery. ferrari, then, had insisted you accompany him, to make sure he didn’t get into too much trouble.
the drive had consisted mostly of sebastian playing shitty music, forcing you to join in on his game of i spy, and him making sure to drive as carefully as he could when he noticed you’d dozed off in the passenger seat.
he had paid for the room (the only one left in the hotel), despite your protest, and carried your bags right to the room. he’d been a perfect gentleman, if it wasn’t for his blatant flirting with the woman on the front desk.
“mind if i take the shower first? i stink,” sebastian asks, shutting the door behind you both. you nod, smiling, and watch him disappear into the bathroom. only then do you look around the hotel room, eyes going wide.
you knock gently on the bathroom door, swallowing hard. sebastian sticks his head around it, stripped down to only his underwear. you make sure not to stare.
“uh, there’s only one bed.”
sebastian sighs. “single?”
“no, double,” you correct, hovering awkwardly.
he shrugs, as if there’s absolutely no reason to have brought it up. “so? we’ll both fit.”
the door shuts again and you hear the shower turn out. you sit at the edge of the bed and wait for him to come out. his hair is wet, a towel tied around his waist, beads of water still dripping down his tanned chest. you have to remind yourself to breathe, hurrying to lock yourself in the bathroom to cool down.
you try and prolong your shower as long as you can. but your fingers are long past pruning so you force yourself out, dressing in your pyjama shirt and shorts before you face him again. when you slip out of the bathroom, sebastian is already under the covers, flicking through the channels on the television.
he notices you hovering nearby, and smirks. “i don’t bite, you know. unless you want me to.”
your eyes roll, a common action when sebastian was around, and awkwardly slip under the duvet. if you moved even slightly to the right, you’d be falling off of the mattress, but you felt like you needed to put as much space between the two of you as possible.
“what do you want to watch?” sebastian asks and you shrug. he glances over at you and sighs, reaching over to tug your smaller frame closer to the middle of the bed, still plenty of room between you. “not so bad, hm?”
you can’t say a word, staring in shock at his forwardness. you never got used to it. but eventually, when he’s put some movie on the tv, you relax into the pillows beneath you. exhaustion takes over and sebastian soon hears your soft snores beside him. he looks over, feeling a strange sort of warmth rise in his chest, admiring your sleeping form.
when the sun rose the next morning, peeking in through the curtains, there was a new weight on your middle. and it was warm, warmer than when you usually woke. once the sleep had cleared, you realised how close you and sebastian had gotten during the night. his arm was draped over your waist, keeping you held tightly to his chest, you head tucked near his shoulder.
panic rises in you, trying to wriggle away before he can wake up and realise too. but he pulls you straight back to him, still half—asleep, nuzzling closer and closer.
“another few minutes,” he mumbles, voice horse. “before we have to face the world.”
smiling into his chest, you let yourself get tangled up in all of him. even if it is only for another few stolen moments — you’ll cherish them.
