Wedding Day - Rooster
Wedding Day - Rooster
Pairing: Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw / Fem!Reader
Word Count: 1.1k
Warnings: Mentions of Pregnancy, Third Person POV Focused on Rooster, Reader - only description is that reader is a woman, No Y/N
Summary: It's Bradley's wedding day and he can't wait to see his wife.

The Bradshaw wedding was a very long-awaited event for everyone involved. They had been engaged for about three years now, but there was a very good reason for delaying the actual wedding itself for so long.
And that was the arrival of one Caroline Bradshaw, who just happened to be born roughly nine months after her parents actually got engaged. So, you can do the math. They certainly did when they found out about their little surprise.
But the wedding was finally here and they were finally going to get married.
Rooster, dressed in his dress whites, followed the photographer’s instructions and stood on the end of the porch, facing the ocean. They were already at the ceremony venue, but Rooster had not seen a single second of his fiancée during the entire morning.
But now it was time for the first look and he couldn’t wait to see his fiancée in her white dress.
He didn’t want to spoil anything for himself. He always walked away or made some noise to try and change the subject when anything about the wedding dress was talked about in his presence. But ever since he found out that Hangman somehow already saw the dress, Rooster was antsy.
After all, she was going to be his wife. Not Hangman’s. And not anyone else’s either.
“Alright, you can turn around,” the photographer called out.
Rooster turned around, expecting to see his soon-to-be wife standing there in all her glory, but instead his eyes dropped down to the little girl in a blush pink dress trotting towards him. He let out a stunned gasp and bent down to greet his daughter.
“Hey, Baby,” he cooed, pulling his daughter in for a hug. “Oh, you look so pretty in your dress. Can you do a twirl for Daddy?”
“Yeah!” Caroline called, jumping around to show off her dress.
“Aw, you’re so beautiful in your dress, Care,” Rooster praised, picking her up and setting her on his hip. “Did you get ready with Mommy?”
Caroline nodded, playing with the medals pinned to Rooster’s dress whites. Rooster, even though he assumed that one of the bridesmaids was going to have a problem with it, pulled his hat off his head and placed it on top of Caroline’s before pressing a kiss to her cheek.
“How’s Mommy doing, huh?”
“Good,” Caroline held out, grabbing Rooster’s collar to steady herself. “But it’s a secret!”
“A secret?” Rooster repeated, causing Caroline to nod furiously. “Oh, well, I don’t want you to get in trouble with Mommy.”
“Nope!” Caroline agreed, to which Rooster laughed and pressed another kiss to her cheek.
“You’re so pretty, Baby,” Rooster praised his daughter again. “You ready to walk down the aisle with all the petals like your Aunt Penny showed you?”
“Yeah,” Caroline giggled as Rooster nuzzled his nose into her cheek.
“God, I can’t wait to see your reaction on her wedding day,” Hangman commented, walking up to the father and daughter.
“You say that again and I’ll throw you in with the sharks, Bagman,” Rooster replied, dead serious as he hugged his daughter protectively to his chest.
“Noted. So, there’s a small change in plans. There was some issue with the dress and the future Mrs. Bradshaw needs some more time to get ready, so you’ll just have to wait until the actual ceremony to see her.”
“Is everything okay?” Rooster asked worriedly.
“Penny told me that everything is under control and I trust Penny, so I’m sure it’s handled.”
“Alright,” Rooster agreed, nodding along. “Well, then we better get to the ceremony.”
Thirty minutes later, Rooster stood at the front of the chapel, waiting patiently for his fiancée to arrive and walk down the aisle. Caroline already did her part and was happily sitting on Maverick’s lap, playing with her small bouquet.
But then the bridal suite started up and everyone rose to their feet. The doors opened and Rooster took one look at his soon-to-be wife and immediately started bawling. Holding a hand over his mouth to try and stop his lips from wobbling, Rooster couldn’t help how his body shook with absolute joy as the love of his life walked down the aisle to him.
The dress was everything that he pictured and more and frankly she could have been wearing a table cloth or a potato sack and he still would have married her right then and there with no questions asked. And when they locked eyes and he saw that she was smiling at him, hell, he nearly melted into the floor right then and there.
“Hey,” she greeted him softly, taking his hand and stepping up.
“You’re so beautiful,” Rooster choked out, absolutely radiating love and joy.
“You don’t look too bad yourself,” she joked, trying to not burst out into tears herself.
They managed to get through the ceremony without too many more tears, even after Caroline trotted up with the rings. They held hands and faced each other with glowing smiles as the officiant finally declared them as a married couple.
“I know declare you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride.”
And Rooster didn’t waste any time in gathering his wife—that’s right, his wife—into his arms and planting an emotional kiss on her lips. If he didn't pull back with a matching shade of her lipstick, he was going to be disappointed in himself. Cheers echoed around the chapel as the newlyweds pulled away from each other.
Waving at the crowd of their friends and family, the newlyweds made their way back down the aisle, holding hands and absolutely radiating joy. While their guests headed to the reception hall, the two of them posed for some more wedding photos.
“So, there was a problem with your dress this morning?” Rooster asked his wife, who smiled softly.
“Oh, yeah. I had to wait to get into it.”
“Why?”
“Well, I had to wait for my maid of honor to return with some pregnancy tests and—”
Rooster whipped around to face his wife with wide eyes. He nearly tripped over the grass and went tumbling, but she held him up, just like she did when she told him the first time.
“You’re serious?” Rooster asked her, holding her hips and sliding his hand around to her belly that wasn’t even there yet. “You’re pregnant?”
“That’s what the tests say,” she told her husband—that’s right, her husband.
And the wedding photographer made sure to get plenty of shots of that series of happy, tear-filled kisses for their wedding album.

Why Didn’t We Work Out?
Summary: James Potter had two girlfriends in his seventh year at Hogwarts. Y/N Y/L/N, who he dated for five months; and Lily Evans, who he dated afterwards. When he’s dared to call one of his exes, guess who’s number he dials…
A/N: timeline for reference: reader and James dated sept-feb. James and Lily dated mar-aug. This takes place one year after graduation. 3.8k word count
It was a Friday afternoon and everyone was all gathered at James’ apartment having a few drinks to kick off the weekend. As the empty bottles started piling up, they got the idea to play truth or dare, courtesy of the deck of cards Sirius found on his way to the flat. They were all still laughing at what Dorcas confessed to when Sirius nodded at James.
“Alright Prongs, you’re next.” he says, practically bouncing in his seat.
James, ever one for theatrics, picks up the deck of cards and shuffles it around before picking a card from the bottom and turning it over.
“What does it say?” Alice asks impatiently.
“Call your ex and ask why it didn't work out and if they’d ever consider giving it another chance.” James says before putting the card down.
Everyone hollers at the task before Marlene manages to calm them all down.
“Guys! Shut it! I wanna know who he’s gonna call.” She says before turning to James. “So? Who’s it gonna be?”
“Isn’t it obvious?” Sirius asks, “It’s gotta be Evans.”
“No-“ Alice disagrees.
“Who else would it be?” Sirius asks.
Everyone argues back and forth while James sits quietly, wondering who to call. He knows who he wants to call, but he doesn’t know if they’d want to speak with him.
“This could change everything,” Marlene says, ever the romantic, “This could be your second chance, James. You should call the one you miss the most.”
“The only one you’ve ever really loved.” Dorcas agrees.
“The one that got away.” Alice says softly, a knowing look in her eyes.
“So, Evans.” Sirius repeats, causing everyone to either laugh or roll their eyes at him.
James doesn’t pay them any mind, he continues to stare at Alice, releasing a shaky breath when she nods encouragingly at him. Of all his friends and classmates, somehow Alice was the only one who knew his true feelings. While James assured everyone that he was fine when he and Y/N broke up, Alice had been the one to stumble upon James crying one day. He had confessed that he missed you and Alice had told him that she did as well.
She didn’t think you’d stop talking to everyone else when you guys broke up. She knew you had your own set of friends prior to dating James, but she had hoped that you’d still hang out with them every now and then. Considering that Marlene and Dorcas were already best friends, leaving Alice to be the third wheel among them, she had enjoyed having a girlfriend of her own, and cherished your company. It hurt Alice to see you pass them by in the Great Hall, not even glancing at them, as you made your way to the far end where your friends were.
Alice had tried to convince James to talk to you, to which he always refused, stating that it was done. After a while, everyone got back to teasing James about Lily, putting you on the back burner, and when he and Lily finally started dating, you were all but forgotten; being brought up only in passing, remembering something funny you had done, before moving on to something else. No matter how much time had passed, Alice always saw the sadness in James whenever you were brought up. His smile always seemed dimmer and his eyes filled with longing. Even if James had managed to fool everyone into thinking you were just a girl he dated for a few months, a girl that he was over; Alice knew that was far from the truth. That being said, he picks up the phone with shaky hands.
“Guys he’s calling!” Marlene shouts excitedly.
“Put it on speaker!” Sirius demands, causing everyone to cheer in agreement.
James types the number and presses “call”, nervously bouncing his leg up and down.
“She might not even answer.” he tells the group, though it sounds more like he’s trying to convince himself.
“What if this isn’t even her number anymore? What if she somehow knows this is my number and lets it go to voicemail?” He asks, looking at his friends.
This comment causes most of them to furrow their brows in confusion, wondering who he could be talking about, considering he and Lily still talk on occasion. But if he wasn’t calling Lily, then who?
The phone continues to ring, causing a pit to form in James’ stomach. “I don’t think she’s gonna-“
“Hello?” a feminine voice asks on the other line. The woman can be heard talking to someone in the background, wishing them a good weekend. She gets a chorus of “you too” in return before a door opens and closes shut.
“Hello?” The voice asks again. Remus reaches over and smacks James on the arm, snapping him out of his stupor.
“H-hi, hey!,” James stutters. “Y/N?” he asks, causing his friends to look at each other in confusion. You and James dated for a few months at Hogwarts but they didn’t think it was that serious. Not serious enough for him to call you instead of Lily for this dare. After all, he had spent years pining after Lily, not you.
“…yes?” you ask into the phone. Your voice comes off soft yet confused.
“Hey,” he says again, and then rolls his eyes at himself, “It’s James.” he breathes out.
“Who?” you ask, causing his heart to drop. “Wait, sorry, hold on really quick.”
Everyone hears you fumble with your phone for a bit before your voice rings out again, this time sounding louder than before.
“Hello?” you ask again, checking if the sound is better.
“Hi,” James answers, not knowing what else to say.
“Oh, that’s much better. Sorry about that,” you laugh softly, “Who is this?” you ask again.
“It’s James…” he says with a grimace, half expecting you to hang up on him.
“James…” you repeat, as if you’re in thought. “James from Hogwarts?”
“Yeah…” James answers, looking at Remus who just shrugs his shoulders. James from Hogwarts, he thinks to himself, that’s what she remembers me as?
“Oh shit,” you curse, surprise evident in your voice, “I didn’t recognize you. Your voice sounds so different on the phone.”
Everyone snickers at your comment.
“How’d you get this number?” you ask and immediately, the laughter stops.
“I uh…I ran into your friend Charlotte like a week after we graduated and I asked her for it.” James says sheepishly. He hopes nobody comments on the fact that that’s a long time to have someone’s number and not call them.
“And she gave it to you?”
“Well I say ‘asked’ but it was more like begging,” James admits, blushing as remembers following her around as she did her shopping, pleading with her to give him your number.
“Huh. So what do you want?”
“Just needed to ask you a question, love.” he tells you, the term of endearment slipping out without him even realizing.
“Okay…” you trail off, unsure of what’s to come.
“How are you?” James finds himself asking instead.
“How am I?” you repeat with an incredulous laugh. “You called me to ask me how I am?”
“No, sorry.” James shakes his head, even though you can’t see it. “That’s not the question. But I do want to know.”
“I’m fine.” you say simply.
“Yeah?” James asks, a soft smile on his lips as he talks with you.
“Yeah.” you confirm, wishing he’d just hurry up and get to the point already. “So…”
“Why didn’t it work out? Between us, I mean…” James asks breathlessly, finally asking the question that’s been plaguing his thoughts for the past two years.
“James,” you sigh, “Why are you asking this now?”
“I don’t know,” James says honestly, ignoring the stares of his friends. “It’s always bothered me; not knowing why you broke up with me. But no matter how badly I wanted to reach out to you- to ask you- I just didn’t. I was too scared. But I-I need to know what happened. Can you- from your perspective- can you tell me why we didn’t work?”
“I don’t know,” you sigh, “I just felt like you didn’t love me.”
“What?” James asks, horrified. “Why- how could you possibly think that?”
“Come on,” you scoff, “You know-“
“No, I don’t,” James interrupts, shaking his head furiously. “I-I thought I was a good boyfriend. I thought-“
“You were,” you coo, feeling the need to reassure him. “It wasn’t all bad. You were funny and kind. You were caring. You were patient with me and my short temper and you always managed to make me smile whenever something was bothering me.”
“And your friends,” you sigh, causing them all to perk up at their mention. “They welcomed me into their group with open arms. They never made me feel like an outsider. I-I studied with Remus, I would play-fight with Sirius; Alice and I would have sleepovers all the time and stay up talking and giggling until three a.m.”
“Then…why?” James repeats, even more confused. If everything was as great as you said, why break up?
“I…I’m not an idiot, James. Even though we weren’t in the same circle, I knew about Lily. Merlin, the whole of Hogwarts did. Through the years, I would hear in passing every now and again about you two. I knew you fancied her. I knew she had been the only one you had ever been serious about, which is why I was so confused when you started paying attention to me.”
“Is it so hard to believe that I thought you were beautiful? That I enjoyed your company?” James asks.
“No, but us crossing paths was a chance encounter.” you stress. “We had been taking the same classes since first year, James. But it wasn’t until Professor McGonagall changed the seating arrangement in seventh year that you finally noticed me. Do you remember why I turned you down the first couple of times?”
“You said you didn’t want to cause any problems between me and Lily. But I told you there was nothing going on between us.” James tells you, growing frustrated.
“Yes, but your actions told me otherwise. How many times did I see you playing with her hair, or whispering in her ear?”
“I was talking with her,” James defends.
“You were flirting with her!” you correct. “You were dating me and flirting with her. I don’t know how you didn’t realize it when everyone else in the bloody school did.”
“Do you have any idea what that was like?” you ask harshly. “Having to hear day in and day out for months ’oh, it’s just a ploy. He’s doing it to get Evans’ attention, and I think it’s working. It’s only a matter of time before one of them makes a move’”
“And then I go to you, my boyfriend, for reassurance, and I don’t get any. Instead, my feelings are brushed off and I’m called, what was the word again? Oh, right, delusional. Yes, I loved you, but I couldn’t do it anymore, James.”
“And anyway,” you huff, clearly worked up by this conversation, “This was two years ago, I don’t understand why you’re calling me now asking me why it didn’t work out. If you were so bothered by the break up, why didn’t you say anything?!”
“Because I wanted you to be happy!” James shouts, standing up from his seat. He moves away from the couch and starts pacing the living room, running his free hand through his hair in frustration.
“I feel like we should give them some privacy,” Marlene whispers to the group.
“Shh!” Sirius shushes her, waving her off.
“I loved you so much, I would have done anything for you to be happy. That’s why I let you go without putting up a fight. I was doing what you wanted.” James sighs dejectedly.
“What I wanted?” you repeat skeptically. “What I wanted was for you to fight for me! For us! I wanted you to show me and everyone else at that damn school that I was the girl for you; that I was the girl you wanted! But you didn’t do that!”
“Instead, you went running to Lily!” you laugh coldly, “Just like everyone knew you would!”
“That’s not fair,” James says, sadly. “If I had known that you-“
“That I loved you? That I wanted to be with you?” you interrupt. “What? Would we still be together right now? Married, living in a nice little cottage, a couple of kids running around?”
Beep.
“Y/N-“
“You’re right,” you sigh, “I’m being too harsh. If you didn’t know that, then clearly I wasn’t the best girlfriend either.”
Beep.
“Merlin’s beard, what is that noise?” James asks exasperatedly.
“My phone, letting me know the battery’s about to die. Good timing, too.” you huff.
“You were a bad boyfriend, and I was a bad girlfriend. That’s why it didn’t work out between us. Let’s leave it at that.” you say quickly, rushing to finish the conversation before your phone dies.
“I hope everything works out between you and Lily. Or whoever you’re seeing now. Truly, I do. Take care, James. Do not call me again. I won’t answer.”
And with that the phone call ends. James stands there, in the middle of his living room, staring at the phone in his hand. It’s silent for a few seconds before Dorcas awkwardly claps her hands, getting everyone’s attention.
“Alright, who’s next?” She asks, softly. The fun atmosphere ruined by the heaviness of the phone call.
“You guys go ahead,” James says, making his way towards the door.
“Mate, where are you going?” Remus asks, standing from his seat.
James freezes at the door and turns around, making his way back to the living room.
“It’s not over yet.” he says with a shake of his head.
James reaches for his card on the table and hands it to Remus, before heading towards the door again, dialing someone else and putting the phone to his ear.
“Still gotta ask if she’d consider giving us another chance.” he tells them before speaking into the receiver.
“Hi, Charlotte? It’s James! Yeah, James Potter. Listen, can you curse me out another time? I need Y/N’s address. Why? Well apparently she broke up with me because she thought I didn’t love her. And I didn’t do anything to stop her because I thought she didn’t love me. Yeahhh, so I need her address so I can tell her that that wasn’t the case at all. Brilliant! Thanks, bye!”
Everyone stands in silence, unsure of what to do now.
“Should we keep playing?” Sirius asks.
“Or pack up and call it a night?” Remus adds.
They all stare at each other for a moment before Alice bolts from her seat and rushes to the door.
“I’m too invested in this! I need to know how it ends! James!” she calls, running down the steps, “Wait for me!”
Everyone else is quick to rush out the door, chasing after James and Alice into the night.
[ t i m e s k i p ]
You’ve just come out of the shower when there’s a hard knock at your door. Not expecting anyone tonight, you stand up with a confused frown on your face.
Running your fingers through your damp hair in an attempt to make yourself look presentable, you head towards the front door. The knocking has gone from rapid, consistent taps to a heavy fist pounding against the wood. The door shakes so much, you’re scared it’ll fall off its hinges. With your wand gripped tightly in your hand, you yank it open, only to become more confused at the sight that greets you.
James Potter stands on your porch; out of breath and hair disheveled as he stares at you. Looking past his shoulder, you see all his friends standing on the sidewalk. Sirius, Remus, Peter, Frank, Alice, Marlene, and Dorcas are all watching you as well. Alice has a beaming smile on her face as she waves enthusiastically at you, clearly happy to see you again. You awkwardly raise your hand at them in greeting before turning your focus back to James.
“I know you said you didn’t want me to call you again-“
“So you show up at my house unannounced?!” You shriek.
“And why are they here?” you ask, gesturing to his friends.
“They followed me!” James shrugs helplessly.
“What are you even doing here?” you ask, rubbing your temples in an attempt to rid yourself of the headache you feel coming on.
“To tell you, in person, that I did love you.” James says, releasing a shaky breath.
“….Alright. Thanks for stopping by.” You nod at him. You try to close the door, only for James to push it back open with his hand.
“No, Y/N, listen to me. I’m sorry for whatever I did that made you initially doubt my feelings for you. I’m sorry I was a tosser that didn’t listen to you when you tried to tell me what was bothering you.” James tells you sincerely.
“It’s okay,” you shrug.
“It’s not.” he says with a shake of his head. “I should've told you all this back then, and I don’t know why I didn’t. But I’m telling you now. Yes, I fancied Lily for years but that stopped the moment I met you.”
You roll your eyes at that and James grabs your hands, squeezing them once before continuing.
“I don’t know how you did it, but one interaction with you and I was hooked. Nothing else mattered and nobody else compared. I found myself looking for you in the great hall and in between classes. I’d ask around about you because I wanted to know everything that there was to know about you. I felt an actual ache in my chest whenever you turned me down. It was so bad I had to see Madam Pomfrey about it because I honestly thought I had an arrhythmia.” he says, which causes you to laugh and roll your eyes again, this time in affection.
“I didn’t fight for you then, so I’m fighting for you now. The truth is I liked Lily; but I only ever loved you.”
You widen your eyes and gasp at his confession. Somewhere on the sidewalk, someone, most likely Alice squeals.
“I loved you on that first day, when you shared your inkwell with me after I forgot mine in the dorm. I loved you when you watched all my quidditch matches, even though you weren’t a fan of the sport. I loved you when you hung out with my friends, even when I wasn’t there and when you spent Christmas with me and my parents.”
You bring a hand up to wipe your eyes before placing it back in James’ hold. You sniffle and grin at him, chin quivering as you do.
“I loved you every second that I dated you. I loved you when you broke up with me. I loved you the whole time I dated Lily, which sounds horrible-“ James admits, causing you to laugh.
“But it’s true. That’s actually the reason we broke up.” he admits, “I couldn’t be with her- or anyone for that matter- when my heart belonged to you.”
“I loved you then and I love you now.” James tells you, gazing lovingly into your eyes. “And I need to know if there’s even the slightest possibility of you loving me too? I know I let you down last time. But-“
James doesn’t get to finish his sentence. Having heard enough, you surge forward, getting on your tiptoes to place your lips against his. James immediately brings his hands up, cupping your face gently as he kisses you back. When you pull away, he follows, placing another chaste kiss against your lips. James kisses you all over your face, causing you to giggle before he leans his forehead against yours.
“James,” you call softly.
“Hmm?”
“Look at me.”
“I can’t” he tells you with a shake of his head, forehead still pressed against your own.
“Why not?“
“Because I’m scared this isn’t real. I don’t want to open my eyes and realize it was just a dream.”
“Does this feel real?” you ask, squeezing his hand with your own.
“Yes.”
“What about this?”
Your other hand comes up to cup his cheek. James sighs at the warmth, pressing a kiss to the palm of your hand.
“Yes.” he nods, slightly.
“Then open your eyes, Jamie.”
James takes a shaky breath in before slowly peeking his eyes open. Once he sees that you are in fact, still there, he releases the breath he was holding. James tucks a loose strand of hair behind your ear before cupping your face in his hands.
“I love you.” you tell him, cheeks warming at the look of complete awe that he gives you.
James kisses you again before pulling you into his chest, wrapping his arms around you in a tight hug.
“I love you” he whispers into your ear, causing you to smile.
It’s only when Alice squeals loudly that you remember everyone else was still there. You pull back and share a shy smile with James before turning towards his group of friends that have been standing on the sidewalk.
“I guess I should invite you guys in?” you say, glancing at James briefly before turning towards the group again. “I can order some pizza and you guys can fill me in on what you’ve all been up to.”
Alice is the first to run up your steps, shoving James to the side and pulling you into a tight hug.
“I missed you so much!” she exclaims as she makes her way into your home.
Everyone else slowly makes their way inside, either hugging you or giving you a quick pat on the shoulder in greeting.
You’re about to head inside when James pulls you back.
“What? What is it?” you ask, looking up at him worriedly.
“Nothing,” he shakes his head, gazing at you with a soft smile. “Just wanted one last moment with you before we head in.”
You roll your eyes and grab his hand, pulling him behind you as you walk in.
“You’re acting like you’re never gonna see me again.”
“Am I?” James asks.
“Only for the rest of your life.” you tell him, pulling his face towards yours for another kiss.
“Um, enough of that!” Sirius calls out, “I believe we were promised pizza??”
Running Hot
it's been storming where I live so this is very self-indulging but i hope you enjoy it nonetheless!
James was a hot person. Not just physically, your boyfriend was definitely attractive, but temperature-wise as well. He was, in general, a hotter person.
Which made it a perfect match when you’d got together, and you were someone that ran colder. One thing James hadn’t accounted for, despite your tendency to be cold, was that you loved winter.
So, after a long day of making snowmen and throwing snowballs, you finally let James usher you in, teeth chattering and shivering.
“Atta girl, come on, let’s get you warmed up,” James guides you into his apartment, toeing off his boots on the mat before bending down to help you.
“There you go, baby,” he whispers, unraveling you slowly. You shiver under his touch, watching him as he concentrates on removing each of your layers.
“Th-thanks, Jamie. S’ real-l-l cold out there, h-huh?” You say, teeth chattering against each other, hugging your arms around yourself.
James chuckles, “Yeah, sweetheart, s’real cold. How about we get warm though, hm?”
You nod as he leads you further in, with a hand on the small of your back. He guides you onto his couch, grabbing the blanket on the back of the couch to wrap around your shoulders.
“Here, throw this on top of your sweater too, yeah? I’m gonna make some hot cocoa.” James hands you his hoodie and presses a kiss to the crown of your head as he makes his way to the kitchen.
You shuffle your feet up, curling up under the blanket, and slip on the hoodie. It hasn’t been washed since the last time James wore it, and you’re not too ashamed to inhale the woodsy scent that lingers, instantly washing over you with comfort.
You can hear James fighting with the thermostat, colourful courses being muttered, until it finally grumbles on, blasting heat through the vents.
“You okay, angel? Hot cocoa coming up soon, yeah?” James calls out to you, and a smile forms on your face as you hear him fumbling around in the kitchen.
“Jamie?” you call quietly.
He pokes his head out the doorway, “Yeah, sweetheart?”
“Will you come cuddle?” You flip half the blanket open towards him and pat the spot next to you.
A cheshire grin spreads over his face. He jogs back to shut off the kettle and practically leaps next to you onto the couch.
“C’mere, pretty girl.” He mumbles, maneuvering the two of you until he’s laid flat on the couch and you’re lying right on top.
You tuck your head in the space between the back of the couch and his face, legs all tangled up together.
“Hi,” you whisper, leaning forward to press a kiss to the tip of his nose.
“Hi back at you, pretty.” His arms wrap around you tighter, pulling you up and against his chest. You snuggle in closer, pressing a kiss to the base of his throat.
“This okay?” He spreads the blanket over the both of you, stretching it out to make sure all your sprawled limbs are covered underneath.
You hum in appreciation, “Yeah, s’really nice.” A yawn breaks through. “Thanks, Jamie.”
“Anytime, sweetheart. Get some rest, yeah?” He brushes the hair off your forehead and presses a kiss to it.
“Love you, Jamie,” you mumble into his chest, lips pressing against his clothed pec.
“Love you too, angel.”

reader falling asleep against remus?? maybe they aren’t dating yet but are oblivious idiots in love with each other and he freaks out !!
pillow
summary you fall asleep on remus at a party.
content remus lupin x fem!reader, she/her
"Mate, you've gotta be the worst pillow ever. Relax a bit," Sirius says to Remus who's gone stiff underneath you.
"I should wake her up, right? Like, it was an accident. She's gonna think I'm weird for not waking her up," Remus panics, trying to stay as still as possible.
"Hey, woah," Sirius puts his hands out to calm his friend like he's a spooked animal, "She wouldn't have fallen asleep on you if she didn't trust you, right?"
He takes a breath and looks down at you. He remembers how much he stupidly likes you and relaxes a bit. "Right," he says under his breath.
"Good," Sirius sighs.
He's not entirely sure how you've done it. It's loud at this party and the two seater isn't the most comfortable place to be. He then thinks about how if it were him in your position, he'd do the exact same thing. He trusts you enough to fall alseep on, despite the circumstances. He's sure his are different to yours, though.
He let's you get comfortable where you've got your cheek smooshed against his shoulder and hopes his sweater isn't too scratchy. Your lips are parted in the slightest and your nose keeps twitching. He remembers how tired you'd told him you were and hopes this moment of rest is enough to help until you have to go home.
He really wanted to talk to you tonight, maybe, if he'd found enough courage, he would've asked you on a date. But he's just as content with letting you use him to sleep comfortably. He envies it really, because he could also use a power nap.
He tries his best to keep you alseep, a hand around your shoulder to keep you shielded from rowdy partygoers but knows it's inevitable that you'll wake. The room starts to fill more as the sun falls behind the horizon and he feels you start to stir.
You lift yourself from his side and blink yourself awake. You look around the room confused, the cutest pout on your lips, before you catch Remus to your side. Then, you startle.
"Oh my god," you say, and hold your hands to your cheeks, "Remus, I'm so sorry!" You start to come into yourself and can't stop smiling. You duck your face into your shoulder and try to act unaffected, though you fail.
"It's okay," he says, and because while you were asleep, he'd swelled with courage, he wraps an arm back around your shoulders and encourages you back into his side. He's not forceful with it but you snuggle back into him like it's second nature and he melts. "I kind of liked it."
"Oh," you say under your breath, but because you're so close he can hear you. He treasures this position dearly, because most of the time you're too shy to speak as loudly as you should.
"You're cute when you sleep," he says, pushing it really, he expects to run out of confidence soon. "It's too loud in here, but I think you were snoring."
You groan and cover your face with your hands, bubbling with embarrassed giggles. "Stop it," you say, flustered and airy, "Was I really?"
"No, I'm kidding, sweetheart," he laughs, nudging your shoulder with his own, "It's okay, you were fine."
"Good," you say, looking at him through the parts in your fingers. "At least I didn't drool, I do that at home sometimes." You take your hands from your face but you still seemed flustered.
"Really?" he laughs.
"Yeah."
He doesn't stop himself from saying, "Well, I'll have to see that one day." He doesn't regret it when you start to roar with laughter.
"Are you inviting yourself back to my bed, Lupin?" you ask through pretty giggles.
"Is that okay?"
You tuck your head back into his side and try to hold back your laughter. He thinks you're trying to hide your flustered face. "Of course, it is."
I really really want to see like shy! Reader with either Fred or Sirius, just cause of how different the boys are personality wise compared to their shy s/o. Like especially if the s/o has attachment issues, needing to touch them but getting flustered when making an attempt to hold the boys hand. Just ugh 💌
hold my hand
summary you really want to hold sirius's hand and don't know how to ask him.
content sirius black x shy!fem!reader
Sirius looks really pretty. You weren’t sure if it was possible, but he’s proving himself right now. You won’t be selfish to think he’s done it for you by any means, but you’re feeling selfish tonight.
He sits across from you, light eats its way up his chest where his satin shirt dips down to reveal his skin. Decorated with tattoos and a silver chain that dances between them. The matching piercing glistens where it dangles from his ear.
He’s always been donned in pretty jewellery. Bangles that clink when he moves, rings stacked on his fingers that bite your skin every time he touches you.
You’re not sure what you are. Sirius touches you when you want. He kisses you and hugs you but you’re not together. When you really think about it you know how stupid it is. You’re both too content to do anything about it. But tonight, he looks so fucking pretty all you want to do is hold his hand.
He’s talking passionately about something James. Roaring laughter and stories you’re sure they’ve shared before. You’d slide across the couch or lean into his side if you had it in you. Like you’ve ever had the confidence — especially with Sirius Black.
Like Sirius has some third sense, he lets his conversation fade out with James and turns his attention to you. You hide the small smile in your drink. Trying to act like you haven’t been staring a hole in his thigh since you sat down.
“Y/N, lovely,” he says, sliding the extra space between you. James moves his attention to Regulus and you feel less guilty.
You turn like you’re surprised he’s near you and put your hands in your lap. “Sirius,” you say quietly.
He puts his drink on the table near your legs and turns to face you. His knees press into yours and you stare at where they meet. “You okay?” he asks. You really want to touch him.
“Yeah,” you say, blinking back up at him. He smiles at you sadly.
“You need another drink?”
You’d love some water. “I’m okay, thank you.”
Now he’s frowning at you and you feel worse. You expect the next question before it comes.
“Are you sure you’re okay? You’re kinda looking right through me, honey.” he says, hand finding your leg. It burns and you wish it didn’t.
Honey. You’re not together but he calls you honey. And lovely, and darling, and baby. If he can call you any pet name he wants, then surely you can touch him.
Sometimes it’s an ache you can’t ignore. Usually, Sirius has a knack for knowing how to fix it. You like being near him, you always have, and Sirius likes doing things you like. He’ll let you sit at his side, hang off his arm, and lean all your weight onto him if you need to. But he’s always the one to initiate it. Always.
So when you say, “Can I — could I maybe hold your hand?” at a volume he can barely hear, Sirius, dies.
His smile almost reaches his eyes when he pushes his hand out in between you. Palm upwards, fingers wriggling about. “Course you can.”
You smile that demure smile that you know Sirius stupidly adores. Pinched brows and appled cheeks.
You link your fingers through his and the ache abates. “Thank you.”
He smiles something that says Don’t be. You don’t ever have to ask. Like it’s obvious. Pulling you into his side until you’re smooshed against his shoulder and slumped into the couch. You think maybe he likes you more than you know.
He flows back into more conversation with Frank, making sure he gives your hand a few squeezes to make sure you know he’s still thinking of you. The conversation ebbs and flows because he’s Sirius and you’re more than content to sit by his side and just be with him. It’s nothing out of the ordinary.
Your hand gets clammy and you think maybe Sirius doesn’t want to hold your hand. That maybe you’ve overstepped. You move your hand to let go and he squeezes you closer, never faltering in his conversation with everyone else. It seems natural.
You think you like it a little too much.
can i request grumpy x sunshine with remus pls!! maybe he’s the grumpy one but reader is just sweet and full of love and he adores them for it 🫶🏻🫶🏻 congrats on 2k!!!
summary: remus is mean to his friends but totally soft with you
fem!reader 0.5k words
You’re almost at the pub when Remus calls you. You answer your phone embarrassingly fast.
“Remus?”
You hear a collection of sounds on the other end of the line, something that sounds like James’s roaring laughter, and a rippling of voices and music in the background.
“Hi, dove.”
He sounds agitated. Annoyed. You frown.
“Are you okay, baby?” You ask.
“I’m fine, just—“ Remus cuts himself off to sigh frustratedly. His voice goes muffled like he’s pulled his phone away from his ear. “Shut up, Sirius, please.”
There’s a scuffling on the line that sounds suspiciously like Remus shoving Sirius, followed by Sirius’s voice saying, “Hey!”
Another sigh and then Remus’s voice is back and clear again. “Sorry, angel. Sirius is being a twat. James, too. How long til you get here?”
There’s a smidge of desperation in his tone that you don’t miss.
“I’m nearly there,” you say, and quicken your pace. “I’ll be two minutes, tops.”
“Will you stay on the phone with me til then?” He asks, quiet enough that you know he’s hoping he won’t be heard by his friends. “Otherwise I think I might punch someone in the face.”
You giggle. If anyone else heard him say it they’d think he was serious, but you know he’s not. Not yet, anyway.
“Of course.”
Remus doesn’t have to endure his annoying friends for much longer. You arrive in a flurry of smiles and a kiss on the cheek each for his friends. Then you turn on him and beam and you look so pretty Remus forgets to frown.
“Hi, Remus,” you say, even though you just hung up from being on the phone with him seconds ago.
“Hi, angel,” he says back, half as enthusiastic but twice as fond.
Remus feels like the luckiest guy alive when you move to stand over him and press your smiling mouth to his, in your lovely dress covered in daisies and your eyes all bright and pretty. You taste like strawberry lip balm. He pulls you down for another kiss before you can get away, his big hand spread over your waist. You giggle against his lips and he thinks you’re the loveliest girl he’s ever met.
He’s smiling as you take your seat, though he’s trying to hide it from James and Sirius. It doesn’t work. They see the way he’s looking at you, the way he pulls you as close as humanly possible. They see his smile, even though it’s small.
“Holy shit, Y/N,” James says seriously, leaning forward over the table on his elbows. “You’ve gone and turned him into a whole different man.”
Sirius laughs loud. It irks Remus more than it should.
“Shove off, Prongs,” he says, but it comes out weaker than he’d meant because you’re trailing your soft fingers over his forearm, your touch setting his skin alight.
“See what I mean?” says James gleefully. “You should’ve seen him before you got here, I thought he was gonna bite my head off.”
Remus glares. “I still will.”
James guffaws. “No, you won’t.”
“Leave him alone, James,” you say, sounding about as mean as Remus has ever heard you, which isn’t really very mean at all. But you’ve tightened your grip on his arm and you’re pouting at James.
Maybe Remus won’t bite James’ head off. For your sake.
