imagine being gibbs’s daughter and dating mcgee

it was a mutal agreement between you and tim to keep your relationship a secret from your dad. you wanted to avoid the workplace drama and dad drama until you both knew you were ready.

but sometimes it was hard.

sometimes tim saw you sitting at your dad’s desk in the morning, your hair in a messy bun and an old ncis sweatshirt (usually your dad’s not to raise suspicion) hanging off of your body as you scrolled through his computer, and his heart swelled. he’d end up staring at you, wondering how someone so beautiful could actually fall for someone like him. and then your dad would walk in and he’d snap right back to his work.

once, he had been caught staring, and gibbs had given him hell during their case that day.

“any ideas, mcgee?” gibbs sighed.

he shook his head, looking at the scene in front of him. “other than what we already have? no idea, boss.”

“well, get something,” gibbs said. “stare at it like it’s my daughter. maybe then you’ll see something.” and he walked away without another word, leaving the poor probie with wide eyes.

or sometimes tim would be geeking out over a computer when you just-so-happen to be hanging in the bullpen, and you would think it’s so attractive how focused and intense he can get, and find yourself smiling and staring at him. gibbs had caught this once or twice, but just batted it off to your own computer geekiness like a father can do.

but sometimes it’s hard. and that’s why you have the empty supply closet down the hall.

Very true. Healing has rough days and sometimes you just have to push on through, either it be for you, a friend, a family member, or a s.o.. Healing is hard work, it’s not all light and bubbly, it can be so draining. So if you are putting in the work and feeling super tired and drained, that is normal. Sometimes healing is a gentle warm wind and sometimes it’s a very dirty window that takes sweat, endurance and tears to clean. Some days it can feel like you’re barely keeping it together. And I just want you to know that it is okay, it is normal and it won’t always be like that, but you can hit these periods of time, and that you will get through them. Please do not give up. And if you feel yourself breaking and falling apart, know that you can be rebuild and sometimes falling into pieces is how we create a new self. Healing is not about going back, it is about going forward. 🌸
