Do you think you could explain the difference between sexual attraction and aesthetic attraction? I'm pretty sure I'm asexual, but I'm not certain, and I've heard these terms used together. Thank you

Sexual and aesthetic attraction are not the same, and whether and to what extent you experience sexual attraction does not influence whether and to what extent you experience aesthetic attraction, and vice versa. You can experience both, neither, one of them, or your experiences may fluctuate.

If you are attracted to someone sexually, you feel a desire to engage in sexual activities with them. If you're asexual or on the asexual spectrum, you may not experience sexual attraction towards anyone of any gender, or you may experience it very rarely or under specific circumstances. If you are attracted to someone aesthetically, you find them visually appealing, regardless of whether you want to engage with them sexually, romantically, platonically, or simply watch them from afar—similar to appreciating a beautiful work of art. It's more about enjoying the way someone looks rather than wanting to act on those feelings in a sexual, romantic, etc. way.

It's quite common for acespecs to talk about their confusion as to whether they are experiencing sexual attraction or whether it's "just*" aesthetic attraction, which may lead to them questioning their identity/sexuality and struggling to better understand it (because when they encounter someone they find visually appealing, they sometimes don't know whether they "want to do something about it" or not due to a lack of experience in recognising what attraction is or isn't). *by the word "just" I in no way mean to belittle aesthetic attraction or make it seem any less valid or important or significant than sexual attraction!!

So my personal stance on Wanderer’s relationship with the Aranara is that when he’s first settling into Sumeru he has a habit of going off into the rainforest to brood, and this results in Nahida asking the Aranara to keep an eye on him and/or help her find him (which is how, for instance, she’s able to find him so easily in his 2023 birthday letter). For a while Wanderer genuinely has no idea how Nahida keeps tracking him down until he one day catches one of the Aranara peeking at him from the bushes and remembers Nahida has an entire army of little guys watching over the forest he’s trying to dramatically storm off in, which of course ruins the effect + his chances of being able to be cynical about the world in a canopy somewhere in undisturbed peace.

Whats additionally terrible about this is recently he told Nahida to stop making the Aranara supervise him, and she happily informed him she actually hasn’t asked them to do that in a while, so if it looks like the Aranara are still following him around, it’s probably because they’re “curious about” and have “taken a liking to” him. Nahida unfortunately also does not take Wanderer seriously when he insists that “such surveillance is cruel and unusual punishment for a prisoner” and that the “personal freedoms he is entitled to under Sumeru law are being violated”. She instead laughs in the face of his suffering (giggles at him) and suggests he should try to introduce himself to the Aranara because she thinks that he would quote “get along” with them.

Wanderer, frankly, finds this absurd and wholly unnecessary. He doesn’t even know why they’ve “taken a liking to him” or have burdened them with their silly, gourd shaped whimsical presences when apparently it’s predominately Only children and any adults who’ve “maintained their sense of childlike wonder” or whatever that can see them. Wanderer is possibly the furtherest thing from either category and concludes they probably “trust” him because he’s “friends” with their Archon or something. Its utterly baffling, but he can’t really do much about it, because what’s he supposed to do? Go out of his way to chase off a bunch of silly harmless little guys every time he goes wandering?? Definitely not. He has far more important things to worry about

I think one day, though, Wanderer ends up stumbling across an Aranara getting chased around by monsters and really has no choice but to intervene because a) the thing was so helpless it was kind of tragic and b) Nahida would probably be upset with him if he let one of her Aranara get terrorized by monsters. This is when everything truly starts going downhill, because the Aranara he saved was apparently VERY big on running its mouth, so now ALL of them are even More obsessed with him and encroach on him even More whenever he’s in the forest.

To make matters worse he also makes the mistake of offering one (1) Aranara a single small pastry (ONE time. As an experiment) and now they keep offering him bizarrely cooked food to return the favor and he really has no choice but to pack snacks for them everytime he enters their domain. Its completely out of control and he doesn’t know why Nahida finds such dire circumstances so amusing. They keep sitting on his hat and roping them into playing hide and seek with him. Unbelievable . (He finds them very cute and amusing to talk to due to the sheer intensity of their good natured whimsy. Its kind of cathartic) (he would never admit this)

Perhaps my luck ran out when I brought him home and got his weapon. I ran out of primos and I basically finished all my quests— except some story quests, ascension quests, spiral abyss, and imaginarium theater.

But I can't find the motivation to do any of those. 🥲😅

SAGAU fic I just thought of right now

Reader is not an imposter, yet not the creator as well, but someone who was given a mission by them.

It was getting harder to breath, their blood pooled around them like a puddle. The metallic taste in their mouth made them cringe. Despite the agonizing pain they were in as their life slowly drains away, they still kept their blank stare focused on the mob in front of them.

Almost all vision users were present, some with delusions, all standing behind the archons who stood at the front.

"You failed. I pity you."

One of the archon's eyes narrowed in distaste. "We do not know what you mean, but what is clear is that you must pay for your sins."

The corner of their mouth twitched upwards. "You were right. I am not the Creator." It was their turn to narrow their eyes. "But I am no imposter either."

"And what do you mean by those words?"

Unable to help themself, a laugh burst out of their mouth. It was unconstrained, derisive... All for her next words to destroy the entire crowd.

"I may not be the Creator but that doesn't mean I have no connections to them!" They started with a grin so big and eyes full of glee. "Hi hi hi -I was sent here to Teyvat... As a test for all of you. To test... How you will treat Them for when They finally descend upon this world as a mortal. All in order to walk amongst her creation and be seen as one of you!

"And you all... failed." A sweet smile grace her face then, even as her manic eyes swept around the crowd. "They have seen your cruelty. They have seen the pain and suffering you inflict upon one who did not choose to bear the same face as them. You have shown and proved that had they descended then... You would have inevitably killed them."

Black spots danced around their vision but they can still see the horror, grief, and remorse on every single faces. Though their breathing became labored that they had to take short, quick breaths, they were finally relieved to return to where she belongs. Back to the Creator's side.

"Truly...I pity you... For you have... Lost... The chance to... Be in... Their presence."

Their entire body glowed like the first light of the sun in the morning. In front of the people's eyes, their body began to disappear in sparks of dust that flew into the darkening sky, uncaring of the chaos that was left below.
