(no relation to Wrathful Sword Deity Yan Zhantian, different Yan)

I liked his character in the donghua, and heā€™s quite fun to watch in the live-action. Very interesting design, and of course Iā€™m loving the facial expressions. I sort of shipped him with the fellow with the white eyebrow in the donghua, but I understand cutting him to give Yan Bietian and his sister more focus.

fanfic writers who write for rare pair ships are treasures and I hope they all know about the impact they have on fandoms. likeā€¦ theyā€™re the ones bringing these ships to lives, theyā€™re one of the few people who saw the potential between two characters whose dynamics, whether or not they interact in canon, were overlooked by most fans, and they created something beautiful out of these potential dynamics. like??? hello???? that is pure genius.

not to mention how theyā€™re the lifelines for other people who enjoy these ships but didnā€™t have any fics to consume until these tireless writers spent hours or days or weeks or months or years writing about these characters and their relationships, and just shared the worlds they created with their audiences for free.

or how they singlehandedly introduced the ships to new people who wouldā€™ve otherwise never thought about these ships before.

how they could just make people fall in love with the dynamics between characters who have little to no canon screentime together.

how they could just make people fall in love with the dynamics between characters who arenā€™t lovers in canon, characters who donā€™t indicate any clear hint of romance in canon.

how they see what most fans donā€™t and how they create such beautiful worlds for these characters are simply insane.

fanfic writers who write for rare pair ships are treasures.

shoutout to every fanfic writer who writes for rare pair ships.

Thanks for tagging me, Iā€™d be happy to offer my knowledge as well! šŸ˜ŗ Iā€™m by no means an expert on the donghua, having only seen seasons 3 and 2 in full. Iā€™ve read the novel, though, and watched the live action a couple of times. Mostly, Iā€™ve just obsessed over the eunuchs and the characters connected to them.

Lei Yunhe has one arm, yes. Zhao Yuzhen cut the other off.

Yeah, Li Hanyi and Lei Hong probably arenā€™t particularly closely related. Lei Hong seems to be from a different branch.

Thanks For Tagging Me, Id Be Happy To Offer My Knowledge As Well! Im By No Means An Expert On The Donghua,

With this scene, the implication is definitely there in the donghua. It is an addition that I couldnā€™t find in the novel (the live action even less so, as Xiao Lingchen isnā€™t even a pirate there). Regarding the queerness of characters in the novel, there are some that are more or less canon, such as Jin Xianā€™s asexuality. Otherwise, there are countless moments and characters that can easily be read as queer, even if they arenā€™t explicitly confirmed to be. The overall atmosphere of the story is fairly queer, while the focus is more on platonic relationships.

Yeah, circumstances have pitted the princes against each other, but their relationships are certainly complicated.

For the life of me, I canā€™t find Wushuangā€™s age (he shows up numerous times in the novel and shares a name with his city, so searching with keywords is difficult). His actor is currently 16, so itā€™s probably less than that.

Ahhh so, some of these questions is related to the donghua as well but:

-does Lei Yunhe only have one arm or how did they reattach his arm?

-isn't Li Hanyi related to Lei Hong? Isnt her father from the same clan as Lei Hong? Why is he interested in her romantically?

-is Xiao Lingya gay?(I remember in the donghua Xiao Se said something about his tastes were acquired and hinted at a man next to him)

-Does Xiao Se hate all his brothers?

-do you know how old Wushuang is?

And those are the main questions that come to mind. Thank you for taking your time to read them if you can.

SO I haven't seen the donghua (and I only started reading the novel this afternoon despite planning on doing that a while ago) but I'll do my best, and also tag @feng-huli who probaly knows more answers than me especially re: donghua

Lei Yunhe only has one arm as far as I can tell? I can't remember a huge amount of his backstory tbh

Li Hanyi's father was Lei Mengsha, but I don't know, like, how related him and Lei Hong are. It's most likely that they're different branches of family though, so they would be third/fourth/etc cousins and not really counted as related. Or I guess they could be more closely related, but they weren't raised together so wouldn't necessarily view each other as cousins? Maybe?

afaik no one is canonically gay in the novel and therefore not "canonically" gay in any of the adaptations but šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø personally i like to headcanon everyone as a little bit queer, for fun

it's COMPLICATED (i don't want to spoil anything)

i think he's somewhere like 14-16 but I don't know if they mention anything specifically

Hi!!!! Who are your favorite characters from Blood of Youths? Do you have any favorite ships?

Hi! Thanks for the ask! šŸ˜ŗ My absolute favorite character is Jin Yan, one of the Five Eunuchs:

Hi!!!! Who Are Your Favorite Characters From Blood Of Youths? Do You Have Any Favorite Ships?

I love him.

My other favorites are Jin Xuan and Jin Xian. I also like Jin Yu and Jin Wei. I find Marquis Lanyue incredibly interesting and Prince Chi entertaining. I have a soft spot in my heart for the old men of the show, particularly Zhuo Xin, Xiao Ruojin, Qi Tianchen, and Lei Qianhu. Of the youths, my favorite is Ji Xue.

Regarding shipping, I'm very much a multishipper. This mostly results in me shipping Jin Yan with anyone I think he would be interesting with, such as Fairy Rui, Jin Wei, and Ye Xiaoying. That being said, Iā€™m open to all Blood of Youth ships and am always happy to see what other people are interested in!

In terms of my major ships, I have a sort of ship line consisting of four characters: Jin Xian/Jin Yan/Jin Xuan/Xiao Ruojin.

On the more platonic side of things, I love the banter between Jin Xuan and Consort Xuan in the novel. I also care disproportionately deeply about the relationship between Jin Yan and his shifu, even though Zhuo Xin only has one scene in the live action (thereā€™s more in the novel, but I was invested even before I read it; it was a great feeling seeing how similar some of my headcanons about him were to the authorā€™s).
