I think they did it for two purposes, one to attract a modern public with very different values from those of the royalty from centuries ago and two to humanize their characters, so that we the audience can identify with them, understand their problems, and sympathize. when they start killing each other and we wish they didn't have to go through all that crap, while crying or being happy that our favorite character dies or lives.
I am watching Magnificent Century for the first time, I am currently watching the last episodes of Season 1. But I have watched many clips from the show and I know the history and what will happen.
And I simply find it weird when people on the show want the brothers to get along or when they are happy that Mustafa loves his brothers? Or when Hürrem never stops to think when she gives birth to her second son?
Aren’t these children destined to kill each other or at least to become deadly rivals? Isn’t Mahidevran so panicked when Hürrem gets pregnant and gives birth to a son because of this very reason? Aren’t they basically living in a sort of Hunger Games world 24/7? Why are they pretending that they are a normal family??? Why are people so outraged when Mahidevran and Hürrem on the show cause the deaths of each other’s children when their own children would die if the other’s son became the Padişah? Am I missing something? How was the relationship between the şehzades before their father’s death in the actual history (not just Süleyman’s sons but generally in the Ottoman history)?

These Blindsprings stickers are simply too cute for words. I like that my favorite characters, Harris and Street, are on it. Would anyone be interested in a giveaway? Since it’s small, I can ship it internationally.
