Okay you know what I'll open this blog with a few posts abt Darkest Dungeon character relationship headcanons I have, this is about the first game btw

Leper and Jester are my favourite duo and I like them in many forms, but my favourite one is queerplatonic duo that's very close. That's how i see them in my game. Like thry have this alterous/ambiguous thing going on when they are described as eachother's man but what does that mean exactly? Nobody gets to know that. They're just like, together, but not as a couple. They have non-sexual non-romantic intimacy okay, they sleep in one cot bc Jester doesn't care and also needs warmth and Leper is a big body that generates a lot of it. Like maybe sometimes, bc i imagine they both like their own space when they can have it

Jester does the heavy lifting on the de-stressing the party thing on missions and the Plague Doctor is like "heal your man, he's gonna have a breakdown!" sometimes. Also her and Jester are absolute besties, girlfriends even (platonic), and Doc cares about Jester a lot, like, aggressively, like "what are you doing with your life, go fucking eat" stuff

Dismas and Audrey are battle friends i think, they work together well. I basically pair up characters who work well on a team. Or not pair up but like, group them all together. Like Occultist and Houndmaster and Bounty Hunter, they work together well so they're buddies or dating or something

I want to say things so

After DD2's new relationship mechanic I suddenly have a fondness for Dismas/Sarmenti, like, I consider Raymas to be canon (Reynauld pls come back i miss you) and I really like Leper+Jester as a queerplatonic relationship very much, but also I have a weird application for the way Highwayman and Jester work as a couple. Two lanky dudes being in love in a battle friends way. The game made them a pair and now I'm low-key trying to increase their relationship in case it happens again every time. Also I like that high relationship doesn't equal romance in this game, good decision, developers

Also one time the game made both Leper and Jester date Highwayman and they were jealous of each other, like for real. I refuse to believe they were fighting over him tho, they're poly, they just had a bad day that one time
