Tseng sits on the hospital bed to the side, facing Rufus. You sit behind him. You gently drag a comb through his hair. Today, he is too exhausted to do it himself. Rufus watches from his chair next to the bed. He is silent, for once. Probably because Tseng can't hide his weariness.

You use the rattail comb to slice a wide, thin portion of hair black from the front. With the comb to aid you, you continue to add sections. You craft a decent braid, not one a child would make but not anything near professional. Thank goodness he doesn't have a mirror to judge your work.

Tseng has to remain still. Rufus takes advantage of this by leaning forward on the bed with his hands, planting a kiss on the side of the other man's forehead. Next, the cheek. He stops there, not pushing his luck.

This is enough to have Tseng yawning. You say your reluctant goodbye's. Tseng's eyes close as soon as he settles into the pillow.

Rufus parts his arms just wide enough for you to slot yourself between them, the both of you facing Tseng. Rufus really should be going but you watch the other man sleep, with Rufus' cheek pressed to your hair. It's a shame that this is what has made Tseng take a break from working.

"Does he have more paperwork?" you ask quietly.

"Yes. I'll have it sent to you by tomorrow morning."

"He hasn't figured it out, has he?"

"I don't think so. I'd rather risk him getting angry than return to work early."
