One of the downsides of being Rufus Shinra's pet is that he will expect you to wait obediently at home when he is away from Midgar. You cannot leave home during these times but he will make sure the staff provides for your needs. If you know him well enough, you can misbehave a little, within limits, but only with the goal of riling him up and putting you in your place, again

If he comes home injured or generally in rough shape, he enjoys if you fuss or worry over him a little. But don't extend that to demanding he be more careful or anything of the like. He secretly enjoys that you care enough to go that far but he prefers to have his freedom more

What he prefers that builds between you is not love but trust. Especially, your trust in him. It may feel the same as love or resemble it, but it's not quite the same. It's not a love between equals and it doesn't require him to look deep within himself to properly examine his feelings for you. You might fall in love with him but it's a real possibility he won't return your feelings like you crave. If he falls in proper love with you, he may admit it to himself or he may not. And does it matter? Maybe not. Everyone decides for themselves what their happiness is

What he requires along with that trust is loyalty. With no loyalty from you, there is no relationship of any kind. But he will return that loyalty to the best of his ability
