The climb in and out of this canyon includes about 1,100 stairs and lot of pain, but it’s so worth it.

There’s an ocean behind all that fog.

I often have a hard time picking favorites, especially when it comes to nature… but, the Balsam Trail at Mt. Mitchell is absolutely my favorite I’ve hiked in the Appalachians. It’s the most unique trail - completely different from anything you’d ever see in this region of the world. Stepping from the peak of the tallest mountain in the Appalachians, and into the threshold of the Balsam Trail - it teleports you. The fog you see in the background is no fog, we’re in a cloud 6,684 ft in the sky. Pisgah National Forest has a huge piece of my heart.

Oop. So as per usual, I think I’m done with a painting and then I hyper-fixate on a spot that drives me insane and I can’t rest until I fix it. So the spartina grass has been highlighted a little bit more. NOW I’m done-done 😅

Felt like my last picture didn’t grasp the size of this one. This pallet knife painting is one of my favorites I’ve ever done. I’m super proud of this one, and I usually don’t feel immediately happy with any of my work. A celebration of the Lowcountry Coast.

Prepping food earlier. I’m so thankful I got a load of fresh food to prep. While hurricanes can be a mess, getting to work from home for a few days is giving me much needed time to get so many things in order. Especially meals to prep. I feel like my time has been fleeting lately and I never have time to get anything done. I just wake up, go to work, I’m so mentally spent I can’t even do anything, then I sleep and repeat. So something as simple as having some time to prepare meals for this week was a huge deal. Many of these ingredients came from either my garden or Papa’s. I do love having fresh produce in the summer!
Due to my increasing struggles with PCOS over the years. I have to really focus on a diet geared at helping with the auto immune disorder I have. Thankfully it’ll be easier since I love fresh foods and veggies so much. But having to avoid the fun stuff is definitely not going to be fun. Hopefully this will help.

Seagulls and tropical winds.
