Cue Willow attacking Volo from behind like a Komala and clambering up him. "Uncle Voloooo! I wanna hear a story about how you tricked some people!" She's grinning like a Tinkatink right now and their gremlin ways. What is she plotting...? (kokorowoutsu)

"First of all, you've done a great job with improving your speech--I congratulate you on that. Second--I have plenty of stories about how I tricked some people!" He grins. "This one is a Sinnohese legend from many, many decades ago. It's one of my current favorites--a real blast from the past!"

Cue Willow Attacking Volo From Behind Like A Komala And Clambering Up Him. "Uncle Voloooo! I Wanna Hear

"Spear Pillar and the surrounding areas of Mt. Coronet are places that are sacred to all Sinnohese peoples. Outsiders are not allowed there under any circumstances. Naturally, when I saw a group of four teenage hooligans from Galar fooling around there, spilling beer all over the sacred stones, using the strong Auras of the temple to get high at the same time they were drunk, pocketing bits and pieces of the broken pillars--I wasn't happy about it at all. Such a thing deserves the retribution of the Divine, and so I was there to give it.

"I opened a portal that led to the depths of Turnback Cave a short distance away from the ruins of the temple, and I used illusions to disguise it as the entrance to another temple. Then I transformed myself into a Milotic, a beautiful being that I knew the teens were sure to trust, and let out a call--which, if you've ever heard the voice of a Milotic, is as beautiful and bewitching as the Pokémon itself. I then called out to them one at a time by name, beginning with the oldest--who I knew was the group's leader.

"'Abigail, Abigail,' I said, 'answer my call--for I'll give you treasures that hold you in thrall.'

Just like that, the girl came, with the air of someone who does not ask for things--she just takes them. And she said:

"'I've long sought Milotic to add to my crew. But where can I find one more lovely than you?'

I had to bite my tongue, else I would have bit her head off on the spot, so I pointed into the depths of my portal and said,

'Deep in the temple you'll find your desire: a serpent like me every age will admire.'

And like the fool she was, in she went.

She ran and she ran, she searched and she searched, but no matter how long she looked or how deep she went, she never found the Milotic she was looking for.

Half an hour had passed since Abigail's absence. So I called out to the next child: 'Theodore, Theodore, answer my call--for I'll give you treasures that hold you in thrall.'

Just like that, the boy came, sauntering in with the bearing of a rich child about to receive a gift from his wealthy parents. He said:

'Of all of my friends, I've trained for the longest. Of course I want only to be the all-strongest.'

And I said, 'Deep in the temple you'll find your desire: I'll make you someone who can thrill and inspire.'

And like the fool he was, in he went.

He ran and he ran, he searched and he searched, but no matter how long he looked or how deep he went, he never found the spell to make himself the strongest Trainer that he was looking for.

An hour had passed since Theodore's absence. By that time, the remaining two were so drunk I doubt they even noticed that their companions were missing. So I called out to the next child: 'Isabelle, Isabelle, answer my call--for I'll give you treasures that hold you in thrall.'

Just like that, the girl came, like a rude customer ready to blackmail a manager into giving her what she wanted. She said:

'I don't want to follow the rules anymore. Let me get off for robbing a store.'

And I said, 'Deep in the temple you'll find your desire: A law that will show you're an innocent buyer.'

And like the fool she was, in she went.

She ran and she ran, she searched and she searched, but no matter how long she looked or how deep she went, she never found the basis to get away with her misdeeds that she was looking for.

Many hours had passed since Isabelle's absence. The sun was beginning to set on the horizon. The remaining boy, a young man by the name of William, began to sober up once he realized all his friends were missing, and he began to realize, too, that he'd done something wrong. He took the pillar bits out of his pockets and started to clean up the bottles, broken glass and spilled beer that he and his friends had left. I approached him, appearing directly among the pillars, and said:

'Your friends have gone chasing their pure selfish greed. Why have you joined them? What do you need?'

And he said, 'Sometimes, I admit, I am scared of the others. But in them I've found my dead sisters and brothers.'

So he had lost everything, and fallen in with a bad crowd because he didn't have a family. How could I punish him for that? So I told him, 'For your repentance, forgiveness you earn. When your friends learn their lesson, then they will return.'

I let him go, and thankfully for him, I never saw him at Spear Pillar smashing bottles again. Or do anything else of the like for that matter. I never did meet him a second time, but as far as I hear he is doing well--and he's found a much better found family than those disrespectful brats. As for his friends in Turnback Cave, I never saw them again either, and frankly, I haven't checked to see if they're--"

Cue Willow Attacking Volo From Behind Like A Komala And Clambering Up Him. "Uncle Voloooo! I Wanna Hear

"How long ago was this, you might ask? Oh, I completely lost track. Fifty, sixty, seventy years--some versions of the legend say those poor children have been lost in Turnback Cave for a hundred and twenty years! If I remember to, I'll be sure to look for them next time I'm in there. If they've been in there that long, I'll at least be able to find their bodies~"

Volo please.

New rule added because Tumblr is currently giving me heart attacks:

🌙 Due to Tumblr being infamously unreliable when it comes to unfollowing, if I do not or no longer wish to interact with you, I will block you rather than unfollowing/sb'ing as well. If I have multiple of your socials, I will block you everywhere. If you see me unfollow you randomly it was 1000000000% an accident; feel free to reach out and let me know it happened. This especially goes if I am no longer following you and I still have you added on all the other socials we share.

"I Do Love A Good Old Test Of Morality. And There's No Better Moral Test Than To Take The Form Of Someone

"I do love a good old test of morality. And there's no better moral test than to take the form of someone or something helpless, walk in front of someone, and see how they react. My preferred way of doing so is by transforming into a Pokémon in need of help--usually a Murkrow, Togepi, serpent Pokémon, or Hisuian Zorua. I recall a girl of about sixteen years alone on a village bench in Hisui, who I approached in the guise of a Hisuian Zorua hungry for food. I begged and I begged--but first she ignored me, next she insulted me, and when I put my paws on her legs she picked me up and threw me. And I looked at her with the most enormous eyes, the words written in my wordless gaze: You THROW Volo? You throw Volo like the football? Jail for you! Jail for you for ONE THOUSAND YEARS!!!! Then as the girl must have said as she retold the story, my eyes began to glow. The cold winter night felt twenty degrees colder than before. I approached her at a trot, which turned into a lunge--

"I Do Love A Good Old Test Of Morality. And There's No Better Moral Test Than To Take The Form Of Someone

"And then I bit her hand off."

Oh, just look at that feral grin.

"Well, I didn't bite it off at first. At first I grabbed onto the hand she threw me with and I would not let go. I would absolutely have let go if she just apologized and admitted it was wrong to mistreat a Pokémon in need, but noooooooooo, she had to be one of those people who can only learn the hard way. She ran screaming all the way back to her humans, playing the victim like I had just attacked her out of nowhere, and the whole village who I can only assume failed to come together to teach her proper values came together to try and save her from the consequences of that. First her family tried to pry me off her. Then her friends. Then came the doctors with their steel tools. Then came the Pokémon Wielders with their Dark Pulses and their Night Slashes. For hours they struggled, but my teeth only sank deeper--until finally, I decided to end it by biting it off entirely. The legend then says I ran away from the village with the hand in my mouth, never to be seen there again. I think I may have gone back there a few times, but the part about me stealing her hand--it's absolutely true."

He smirks as he tells the story, watching the listener's gaze eagerly for some sort of a reaction. This little shit telling edgy stories about himself to get a rise out of people? More likely than you think.
