Roar! 8

Jake's eyes widen. "Awwwwwww! It's so cute! I wanna pet it!" He tries to step forward, but Alex restrains him, and the stoat looks miffed.

"I will not allow myself to be pet," the stoat says with contempt. "I was sent to show you the way to my masters base of operations. He is very eager to meet you." The stoat seemed to grin as it's eyes glittered.

"How do we know we can trust you?" Alex said, arching an eyebrow, his arm around Jake's shoulders. "Also, how do you know about our mission?"

The stoat chuckled. "Why, the whole forest knows of your mission. Most are just too timid to step forward. You do reek of..." The stoats nose wrinkled, "...humans."

Jake raised his hand. "I mean, we are humans."

The stoat seemed to grin again. "Yes, but we know that you are utsati. Those that can change their form."

Jake looked quizzically at Alex. "Bugatti?"

"Shut up Jake," Alex said, not taking his eyes from the stoat. "So why you?"

The stoat looks sad for a moment. "Unfortunately, I owe Andren a great debt. My finding you is part of my way of repaying that debt. My family was in danger many years ago, when there was a landslide. Andren saved us, and I have been in his debt ever since."

Jake looked sympathetically at the stoat, but Alex's face was stoic.

"Let's trust him Al," Jake said.

Alex bopped Jake on the head. "I told you not to call me that." Alex's arm comes loose from Jake's shoulder and Jake takes a tentative step away from his best friend. "Okay, we'll follow you."

The stoat looked delighted. "So glad to hear it."

Jake rushed forward and patted the stoat, and the stoat swiftly bit Jake's finger. "I said no petting," the stoat said with a snarl.

Jake stuck his finger in his mouth and sucked on it. "Owwww. Dat hurd."

"Don't do that you idiot," Alex said, pulling Jake's finger out of his mouth. "It might get infected. Here," Alex pulled alcohol out of the first aid kit and poured a little on Jake's finger, making Jake squeal. Alex just rolled his eyes and pulled out a bandaid and stopped. "Jake... Why are there only cute cartoon bandaids?"

Jake looked nervous. "I-it's all I could find."

Alex just rolled his eyes and then said, "yarrow, right?"

"Yeah," Jake said, nodding and wincing in anticipation as Alex grabbed a fresh sprig of the herb.

"Open up," Alex said, holding the herb up to Jake's mouth.

Jake's face blanched. "Just use the mortar and pestle. I...I hate that stuff."

"I know you do," Alex said, looking serious. This is what you get though. He held the herb against Jake's closed lips.

Jake finally gave in and took the herb in, chewing it with a grimace. "I think I'm gonna be sick."

"Just shut up she chew. Now spit," Alex said, hold out his hand.

Jake spit out th green mess, and Alex gingerly applied some to Jake's finger, making Jake yelp and dance, while Alex held his hand in place.

"Stop being such a baby. It'll get better in a minute." Alex applied the bandaid and released Jake's hand.

Jake shook his hand, and the stoat looked up at them, a look of boredom on its face. "Shall we go?"

"Yeah. Let's pack up," Alex said, starting to pack up.

As the boys and the stoat started to head out, a crow flew over and croaked, "leave! Leave! Leave! Leave them alone!"

The stoat glared up at the sky, until the crow dissappeared. "Some of the animals up here aren't as charitable as yours truly." The stoat seemed to grin and it's eyes twinkled.

Alex motioned, still not trusting the stoat. "Let's just get going."

The stoat scampered off and Jake and Alex followed behind, unsure what they were getting into.

Here is th conclusion to th story for @genderfluid-basil143. Hope everyone approves!

Explosion

Basil and Sunny froze when they saw each other. They stared at each other, unsure what to do.

Minutes passed, and Basil slowly shut the door behind him. He couldn't help but think about how bad Sunny's room smelled. Like body odor and something rotten. Then Basil spoke first, "u-um, S-Sunny? M-Mari. She..." Basil started to tremble, and he could see Sunny's pale face starting to change. His expression was already blank, but now it was starting to change to an expression of fear, confusion, pain, and anger.

"S-Sunny...say something!" Basil stammered. He could feel tears starting to leak from his eyes. "P-please..."

Sunny suddenly stood up and started making his way over to Basil. He stopped when he was inches away from slamming into Basil.

Sunny stared into Basil's eyes, and then, like a flash of lightning, Sunny's hand flashed out and struck Basil's face.

Basil feel to the floor and he looked up at Sunny, horrified. Had he been right all along?

Sunny couldn't say why he had done it. He felt himself starting to cry as well. He hadn't even hit Basil that hard, had he? He hadn't had much to eat in days and he felt weak.

"You...you left me..." Sunny mumbled.

Basil recoiled on the floor. His cheek burned, but he had fallen mostly from fright. "S-Sunny? What do you... What do you mean?"

"You left me, you left me, you left me!" Each time Sunny said this, he got louder and louder, and he tapped Basil with his foot, harder and harder each time.

Basil grabbed Sunny's foot. "S-Sunny, stop. I... I didn't mean to leave you. I didn't... I didn't want you to hurt me."

Sunny climbed on top of Basil and started pummeling him, weakly. "You left! You left! You left! You abandoned me! You pulled away!"

Basil's face contorted in horror. He realized what he had done. He had been so scared of Sunny though. What else could he have done? He wiggled, trying to get out from under Sunny. He was slowly starting to have a panic attack. His chest felt tight and he could barely breathe. Sunny wasn't helping by sitting on him, but honestly, Sunny seemed a little lighter than usual. He had probably lost weight, which just made Basil feel even more guilty. Basil was starting to fight back, but he was starting to feel light headed, and he could barely move.

"S-Sunny, get off... Let's..." Basil's vision darkened as he passed out.

Sunny panicked, thinking he might have really hurt Basil, or maybe even accidentally killed him. He started slapping Basil's cheek. "Basil. Basil, wake up. Basil!" Sunny started shaking Basil's shoulders. "Wake up! Basil! Wake up!" Sunny cried as he shook his friend.

Suddenly Basil's eyes fluttered open and he gasped and then coughed. Sunny let go of Basil's shoulders and sat back, on Basil's lap.

Basil coughed again, and then spoke. "Hey Sunny? Can you get off?" Sunny realized he was still sitting on Basil, and he clambered off of him, and he pulled his friend up, and he wrapped his arms around Basil as tightly as he could.

"Basil," Sunny wailed. "I'm so sorry..."

Basil hugged Sunny back. "I-I'm sorry too..." Both boys cried as they held each other, their tears expressing to each other how much they were hurting.

After a while, Basil finally broke the silence. "Hey Sunny?"

"Yeah?" Sunny said, still holding onto Basil.

"You smell pretty bad." Basil said, and after a second both boys giggled. "You smell worse than Kel." This made both boys giggle harder.

"Well, it has been a while since I got a bath," Sunny said.

"Yeah, I know," Basil said. "You should definitely go take a bath, and then go see Mari. I know she's waiting for you."

"Yeah, I guess I should." Sunny let go of Basil and stood, pulling Basil to his feet. "Hey Basil?"

Basil looked at Sunny. "What is it?"

Sunny looked down. "Don't leave again. Please."

Basil smiled and he hugged Sunny again. "I won't. I promise. I can even stay here tonight. How does that sound?"

Sunny smiled. "That would be great."

This was such a great story to work on! Please stay tuned for more fun, or trauma filled stories later. For those who wanted to hear from Mari, I apologize, just didn't seem to fit, since I thought it would be more like th game to stay with Sunny and Basil! Thanks to everyone who has followed this story. Love you, my readers ☺️

Here's part 3 of my Omori story dedicated to @jaywish143. Just one more part, and this story will be concluded. This is a bit later than my usual posting time. Don't have nightmares kiddos 😉

A Wilting Flower

Basil rode back home from the hospital, sitting in the back of Hero's mom's car in a daze. Why had he pulled away from Sunny? He was so scared, but he knew that Sunny still needed him.

Basil shivered, and Kel put an arm around him.

When Basil looked at Kel, he could see Kel's eyes rimmed in red, but he was smiling.

"Hey, it's okay buddy. It's going to be okay." Kel tried to sound hopeful, but wasn't very convincing.

"I-I know. It's just... Sunny. How is sunny?" Basil could barely get the words out without choking. He was still scared that Sunny might come after him. At the same time, he knew that Sunny hadn't meant to hurt Mari.

Hero turned around in the front passenger seat, his eyes also red rimmed and puffy. He reached back and patted Basil's knee. Basil flinched, but Hero pretended not to notice. "Don't worry about Sunny, Basil. We'll take good care of him when he gets home."

Basil smiled weakly and Hero turned back around.

The rest of the car ride was pretty uneventful, and Basil went straight to his room as soon as he got home. It was already staring to get late, so Basil told his grandmother goodnight, and changed into his pajamas.

Basil lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling. He kept replaying the incident over and over in his head. Tears started leaking from his eyes and he eventually drifted off to sleep.

Basil was standing at the front door of Sunny's house, watching everything happen all over again. Everything was the same, except this time, Mari didn't stop falling. For some reason, the stairs were so much taller, seeming to go on forever. Mari fell down the stairs like a rag doll, coming to rest at Basil's feet. Only one of her eyes staring up at him, wide and glossy. The other eye was obscured by her hair. Suddenly, her mouth opened, and she said, "why didn't you stop him Basil? Why? Why? Why? WHY? WHY?!WHYYYYYYYYYYY?!"

Basil woke, a scream escaping him. He looked around, the sun slowly filtering through his window. His hair was plastered to his head, and his lap felt oddly warm.As he lifted the sheets, he realized he had wet the bed.

Basil pulled his legs to his chest and he sat there and cried for several minutes before he got up and changed his clothes and pulled his sheets out of his bed. How would he tell his grandmother about this?

Basil took the wet clothes and sheets to the laundry room, and told his grandmother. She was very understanding and sympathetic.

A few days later, when Mari was heading home, Aubrey came to Basil's house.

"Basil! Basil! Mari is coming home!" Aubrey said as she knocked vigorously on Basil's door.

Basil opened the door slightly and peered out, shyly. "Oh, hey, Aubrey. Today is the day, huh?"

"Yeah, come on. We're all going to see her when she gets home." Aubrey was bouncing on the balls of her feet, her hands behind her back. "Oh, and I brought you this." She pulled out a pretty flower crown from behind her back. "I made one for each of us."

Basil looked at the flower crown and felt a pang of guilt. They had all learned how to make flower crowns with Mari.

"W-what about Sunny?" Basil looked at Aubrey, feeling apprehensive, but hopeful at the same time.

Aubrey's smile faltered. "Oh... He... He still hasn't left his room. His mom told me that he's been eating, but that he doesn't come out unless he uses the bathroom."

A wave of relief flooded Basil, followed by a bigger wave of guilt. Why did he feel relieved that his best friend was shut up in his room? Why was he so scared of Sunny? He knew that what had happened was an accident.

Aubrey noticed the shift in Basil, and her brow crinkled in concern. "Hey, what's wrong?"

"N-nothing..." Basil looked nervously at Aubrey, but he quickly looked away.

"Hey, what is it? You can tell me." Aubrey put a hand on Basil's shoulder and he tensed and almost jerked away.

Sweat beaded on Basil's brow. "I-I'm j-just scared...of...Sunny..."

Aubrey looked shocked and taken aback. She pulled her hand back, and then she said, "Basil, he's you're friend. Why would you be scared of him?"

Basil hesitated, and then he whispered, "I... I was there. I saw it happen. I don't want..."

Aubrey blanched. "Oh Basil, he would... Sunny would never do that to you."

Basil sobbed and then said, "I know. He wouldn't have done that to Mari either. He was just... Just angry."

Aubrey wrapped her arms around Basil and let him cry. Once he was done, she pulled back and smiled at Basil. "Come on, we should go see Mari. She won't remember you, but she should be happy to see you."

"W-what if she...remembers everything when she sees me?" Basil's face went pale, and Aubrey took his hand.

"We can take care of that if it happens." She smiled at Basil, and then she put the flower crown on Basil's head. She took his hand, and led him to Sunny's house.

As Basil and Aubrey entered Sunny's living room, Kel was sitting on the couch, watching TV with a blank stare. His expression lit up when he saw Basil. "Hey, Basil! You're finally here. HERO! HERO! BASIL'S HERE!" Kel raced into the hall and up the stairs.

"So much for our surprise..." Aubrey pouted, but then she turned to Basil and smiled. "Come on, Basil. Let's go see her." As Aubrey pulled Basil along, she donned her own flower crown that she had pulled from her bag.

Mari's room smelled of vanilla and clean linen. She always kept it so very clean, and even more when she was just sitting in bed, it looked pristine. Hero sat at the foot of Mari's bed, as he talked to her, as she gave him a confused, slightly bewildered look. Her eyes lit up when she saw Basil, and he couldn't help but flinch a little.

"Oh, you are adorable! What is your name?" Mari beamed at Basil.

"This is Basil," Hero said, gently. "The one I was telling you about?"

Mari's eyes looked a little sad. "Oh, Basil," she said. "I'm so sorry. Hero told me that you were the one to find me."

It took Basil a minute to find his voice. "O-oh, yeah. I walked in right as you..." Basil looked down and squeezed his eyes shut.

Hero walked over and patted Basil on the head. "It's okay Basil."

Basil looked up and nodded. He spent over an hour with Mari. She started remembering small things. Things she liked, things she looked forward to. She remembered more and more as days went on.

As days went on, Mari remembered almost everything. Basil's dreams also became more and more extreme. They changed from Mari talking to him, to Sunny following him. But...was it really Sunny? He was so much more pale. His eyes were distant and lifeless, and they glowed red. He even wore clothes that Basil had never seen Sunny ever wear. He wore a black tank top, white shorts with black stripes, and tall black socks.

Basil ran through a house that just went on and on. The not-Sunny kept following, no matter how fast Basil ran, he was only a few steps behind.

Basil awoke again, bathed in sweat, but thankfully this time he hadn't wet the bed again.

Basil went to see Mari after this last dream, and when he saw Sunny's door, he shuddered uncontrollably.

He walked into Mari's room to see her crying, and Hero sitting beside her, looking pale. Kel brushed past Basil and ran down the stairs.

"What's going on," Basil asked, shocked.

Hero looked over and said, "she remembers. She remembers, and..."

Mari looked up, tears streaming down her face. "I had a dream. Sunny was chasing me as I tried to climb the stairs, but...it wasn't quite Sunny. He wanted to throw me down the stairs. To 'end it all', as he said."

Basil felt the blood drain from his face as he turned to the door. He had to face Sunny, or not-Sunny, whatever it was that was beyond that door. He fled from Mari's room, headed across the hall, and opened Sunny's door, unceremoniously. There sat Sunny, sitting on his bed, looking...normal.

Well, that was... Intense. Pardon me while I go cry.

Here is part 2 of the Omori story for @jaywish143. Two more parts after this one, because I say so. This part follows Sunny. Next part follows Basil. Then it all comes to a conclusion, with both of them in part 4. So grab your tissues, and your weights (you'll see why at th end).

Alone

Sunny got back from the hospital, and promptly went to his room. Kel and Aubrey called out to him, but Hero silenced them with a hand on each of their shoulders.

Sunny sat alone on his bed, wondering when Mari would come home. Would she come home? Would she ever remember the accident? Sunny somewhat wanted her to remember so that she would yell at him, just like how he yelled at himself internally.

Sunny also wanted Mari to forget the accident completely, so they could just move on. What Sunny had done was already eating at him. If she forgot, wouldn't that be just as good as him being absolved of all blame? He had pushed her out of anger, true, but he hadn't meant for her to fall down the stairs.

After a few days, Mari finally returned home. She had woken up the day before, and insisted on going home. The doctors said there was no reason to keep her in the hospital, so she came home. Sunny stayed in his room, frozen in place, while Mari was brought in and taken to her own room. He wanted to move. He wanted to run to her, tell her he was sorry. He was frozen out of fear, unable to move. What if she saw him and remembered everything?

So Sunny just stayed where he was, frozen, unable to go see the sister he loved so much.

One night, as Sunny was laying in his bed, Sunny heard moaning from the next room across the hall. Mari's room.

Sunny got silently to his feet and quietly walked out of his room and into Mari's room, making no sound.

Mari's room was lightly illuminated by pale moonlight filtering through the curtains. Mari lay in her bed, sleeping, but moaning lightly. Sunny walked over and put a hand on her forehead, wondering if she was sick. Her forehead was cool to the touch though. Sunny's hand moved to his sisters cheek, and then he felt something damp on his cheek. He reached up and wiped away a single tear.

Sunny stood transfixed, looking at the tear in the light from th moon.

Suddenly, a voice spoke, "wh-who are you?"

Sunny's head snapped over to Mari's face to see her wide eyed and staring at him. "M-Mari, it's...it's me, Sunny."

Mari's face was one of sheer terror. "H-help!" She screamed. "Mom! Dad! Help!"

Footsteps sounded in the hall, and then Sunny's parents entered the room. They took one look, and then Sunny's mom pulled Sunny aside as his dad comforted Mari.

"Go back to bed sweetie," Sunny's mom says, ushering him out of the room.

Sunny walked back to his room, dazed. He was still crying, even though he could barely tell. He was so shocked by Mari's outburst.

As Sunny entered his room, he saw a girl sitting on his bed. She had yellow tentacles instead of arms, and two small, fat tentacles on either side of her head.

The girl looked up as Sunny came in, her eyes sparkling in the moonlight. "Hello Sunny, it's been a while."

Sunny broke down and started sobbing. "A-Abbi! I've... I've missed you." Sunny ran forward and hugged his old imaginary friend.

Abbi patted Sunny's back with one of her tentacles. "There there. It's okay. It was just an accident after all; you know that."

Sunny pulled back a little and looked into Abbi's eyes, still sniffing and wiping away tears.

"You should get some sleep," Abbi said, scooting to the head of the bed and patting her lap. Sunny crawled towards her and curled up, his head on her lap.

The next morning, Sunny awoke, his head laying on his pillow, and Abbi nowhere to be found.

That afternoon, Sunny heard his friends in the house, undoubtedly on their way to see Mari. He never left his room. Too afraid what they might say to him. Too afraid of how they might look at him. Sunny just rolled over in his bed, and went to sleep.

He awoke sometime later, to the sound of his door shutting. He rolled over, and on his pillow were a few sweets, several cookies, a flower, and a piece of note paper with cute ribbons on it. Despite the note paper obviously being Aubrey's, the handwriting was unmistakably Hero's.

"Hope you start feeling better soon Sunny. We all miss you. Love, your friends, Hero, Kel, Aubrey, and Basil." Each of his friends had signed the note, making it even more personal.

Sunny wept.

Sunny had longed to go see his friends, but fear kept him rooted to his bed, only leaving to go to the bathroom. His parents brought him food, but they didn't say much. Sunny wanted to be talked to, but he couldn't find the words to say in return when someone tried to talk to him.

After a week and a half, everything finally came to a head. Mari had started to remember things, and she remembered Sunny, especially. He still refused to leave his room though. So one day, when Basil was visiting Mari, he strode to Sunny's door. Without knocking, Basil walked in, and Sunny's face blanched.

Hope everyone enjoyed this part. Hope you have some nice strong arm muscles to help with this cliffhanger, too. Now you gotta wait while I write again.

An Itchy Situation

Jake was over at Alex's house to spend some time lounging on Alex's bed. He wasplaying some of Alex's games while Alex worked on something on his computer. The two boys had been hiking in the woods behind their houses almost a week beforehand, and Jake got a cut on his knee. This particular day, the scab was itching, and threatening to drive Jake crazy.

Jake absentmindedly started scratching his knee, and when he felt the scab, he started messing with it. Absentmindedly picking at it with his nail.

After a few seconds, Jake felt the scab give way with a sharp, stinging sensation. Jake quickly clamped his hand to his knee, before the blood could run down his leg. His hand made a nice loud plat!

From cross the room, Alex turned his head at the sound. Jake had set down the game, and he put on his biggest, most reassuring smile.

Alex cocked an eyebrow. "What was that?"

"O-oh. J-just a bug that landed on my knee. Nothing to worry about." Jake tried to smile bigger to convince Alex that all was well.

"Oh, okay," Alex said, not really buying it. "You should probably get rid of it then."

"I will, I promise. You can go back to your project," Jake said, his face going sober and more reassuring.

Alex turned back to his computer and continued working. Jake's smile faded and his eyes widened in slight panic. How was he supposed to get to the bathroom without getting caught? He awkwardly got up off the bed and hobbled to the door, hand still clamped to his knee.

"Hey Jake?" Jake froze. "Why are you walking like that?" Alex hadn't even turned away from his computer. How did he know?!

"I-I just don't want the bug to get away." Jake stood frozen on the spot, wondering if Alex would buy it.

Alex slowly turned around. "It's really just a bug? Come on, let me see."

Alex got up out of his chair, and Jake jerked upright quickly, thoughts of his scab fleeing as he tried to assuage Alex's suspicions.

"I-it's okay buddy. You don't have to...oh..." Jake felt a warm stream of blood oozing slowly down his leg.

Alex's eyes went to Jake's knee, and then back up to Jake's face. Alex's lips tightened and he let out an exasperated sigh. "Jacob Michael Turner. What. Have. I. Told. You?" Alex's words were accentuated by each step he took closer to Jake.

Jake's face blanched as he tried to back towards the door, his face screwed up in panic. "B-but Jake's a good boy. I-I'm a good boy. It...it won't happen again..."

Alex, knowing he had scared Jake enough said, "It better not." His face was inches from Jake's. "You're gonna scar if you keep pulling off scabs. Plus, it's gross. Your mom wants us to look out for each other.

A single tear escaped Jake's eye." I...I know."

"Good," Alex said, his expression softening. He really cared a lot for his friend, but he also liked to mess with him. They both knew neither one of them would ever hurt the other purposefully. Jake was still terrified of Alex though, since Alex was the stronger of the two. "Now, go get cleaned up."

Jake didn't answer, he just scurried off, bare feet making slapping sounds on the floor.

Hope everyone enjoyed the story. If you've read this far, please comment how old you think Jake and Alex were in this story. I leave it vague on purpose, and want opinions!

Here is part one of my Omori story dedicated to my friend @jaywish289. Warnings for blood and trauma. Asks are open for questions and suggestions. I realized, after I scheduled this post, that today is Sunny's birthday. Oops. Now, without any further ado, here we go.

A Fateful Accident

Basil could hear shouting before he opened the door. Something about a recital. Basil just wanted to see if Sunny could play outside a little before Sunny had to practice.

As Basil stepped inside Sunny's house, he could see Sunny and Mari at the top of the stairs, arguing.

"I. Don't. Care!" Sunny yelled. "I hate the violin! I hate practicing! I hate you! Let. GO!" To Basil's horror, Sunny pushed Mari. Basil stood in horror as Mari stumbled, her weak knees giving way beneath her. She fell halfway down the stairs, hitting her head quite hard several times, before she came to a rest, blood leaking from one of her ears. Basil and Sunny stood, paralyzed.

"S-sunny?" Basil stammered. "...Mari?...Mari?!"

Basil rushed up the stairs to check Mari's pulse. "Sh-she's still alive. Sunny! Quick! Call 911!"

Basil tried thinking of what to do, panic like a stone in his stomach. He looked to the top of the stairs and noticed Sunny still standing there, frozen. "Sunny!" He shouted. "Call an ambulance!"

Sunny snapped out of his reverie and grabbed the phone. Basil couldn't hear what Sunny was saying, over the pounding in his ears.

Sunny really wasn't looking forward to the recital. In fact, he had been dreading it all week. The violin had always taken up his free time, giving him less and less time to play with his friends as the recital crept closer. This song was too difficult for him, too. He was only 12. How was he expected to perform something so complicated. The air in his house was so thick with tension that Sunny couldn't help but think that you could cut it with a steak knife. He fumed as Mari stood in the doorway to his bedroom.

"Come on, Sunny, we should practice," Mari said, gently tugging Sunny out of his room.

"I don't want to. I hate that thing." Sunny mumbled, trying to break free.

"Come on, Sunny. The recital is tonight." Mari sounded a little more forceful this time.

"No!" Sunny yelled, jerking away. "I hate that. Just leave me alone!"

"Sunny, you have to practice! You agreed to do this! You promised!" Mari was starting to sound very agitated as she grabbed Sunny's arm forcefully and dragged him towards the stairs.

"I. Don't. Care!" Sunny yelled. "I hate the violin! I hate practicing! I hate you! Let. GO!"

Sunny pushed Mari, out of anger, and she stumbled back, a look of hurt turning to surprise as she tried to find purchase on the top step. She couldn't get her balance, her knees giving way. Sunny could only watch in horror as his big sister tumbled.

Sunny could only watch, thinking, 'no. Stop it! Mari!'

The world went quiet as Sunny watched, paralyzed, only broken free when Basil pleaded for him to call for an ambulance.

After what felt like hours, but was really minutes, Basil heard sirens.

"They're coming Mari, it's going to be okay." Basil had blood on his left hand, and on his pants leg. He had tried to rouse Mari, but without any luck. "Hang on, Mari. They're almost here."

The sirens grew louder and then cut suddenly as the ambulance pulled up in front of the house. Basil looked to the top of the stairs, to see Sunny still frozen there, eyes distant.

The paramedics burst through the door." What happened?"

"Sh-she fell. I think she hit her head. Th-there's blood. Please... Please help!" Basil couldn't contain his panic and tears. He cried hard as one of the paramedics pulled him aside. She was young, with a kind face.

"Don't worry, we will get her help. What's your name?" The paramedic spoke in a soothing tone.

"I-I'm Basil. That's S-Sunny up there. His sister..." Basil was racked with sobs and he couldn't continue.

"We're going to take good care of her Basil," the paramedic said, returning to her partner.

At that moment, Aubrey, Hero, and Kel burst through the door, all wide eyed and pale.

"Wh-what happened?" Aubrey said, looking towards Mari. "Mari! Oh my god! What happened?!"

"Stay back," said one of the paramedics. "We need a spine board. Keep her steady." The male paramedic ran to the ambulance and returned with a long orange slab with slats along it's sides, and a neck brace.

Mari was loaded onto the board and the paramedics gingerly applied the neck brace before they carried her to the ambulance. Hero hugged Aubrey, and Kel walked over and patted Basil's head. All of them were in shock. Kel knelt beside Basil and gently put an arm around Basil's shoulders. "We're here now buddy. Don't worry."

Basil reached out and pulled Kel into a hug. He couldn't help but notice that Kel smelled of sweat, which usually deterred Basil, but it was a welcome change from the smell of blood that had permeated his senses.

"We should get to the hospital," Hero said suddenly. "I'll go tell mom. Kel, Basil, can you two get Sunny?"

Kel nodded, and Hero set off, Aubrey still clinging to him.

Sunny saw the paramedics take Mari away, unable to move. He kept playing that moment over and over in his head. Mari's expression, her gasp, almost inaudible as she started to tumble. He especially heard every single thud as she fell. He couldn't get that part out of his mind. Those thuds just played over and over.

Thud, thud, thud, thud.

'Stop. Stop. Stop. STOP!'

Sunny tried to say something to Basil, to move over to Basil, but his throat just wouldn't work. His body wouldn't move. He was living in a nightmare, unable to do anything but stand and stare.

He heard Kel walk up the stairs, and felt Kel gently take his arm. His body moved mechanically, Kel guiding him down the stairs, gently.

Sunny didn't see the pool of blood on the stairs, but he saw blood on Basil. This broke Sunny's mind even further. He thought he had hurt his friend.

Basil and his friends all piled into the car, and they drove to the hospital. Basil was still in a daze, unsure of what to do, or even what to think.

As they reached the hospital, Basil excused himself and went to the bathroom. He went straight to the sink and started scrubbing his hands. The blood came off fairly quickly, but Basil kept scrubbing until his hand was raw.

'No. Mari! No! Mari! Help! Sunny!'

Basil kept scrubbing his hands, when suddenly another hand touched his. Basil turned his tear streaked face to see Hero. Hero was also crying, and he pulled Basil into a big hug.

"Careful, you're gonna hurt yourself. I... I don't want you hurt, too..." Hero held Basil as he said this, and he started sobbing.

After a hug, both boys walked back out to the waiting room, to wait for news.

Sunny was sitting in a hard plastic chair, his legs pulled up to his chest. Eyes staring off into who knows where. Basil sat beside Sunny and reached out for one of Sunny's hands. Sunny didn't resist.

Basil's hand felt so sweaty, but Sunny was greatful for the contact and comfort. He wanted to hug Basil so badly, but his body still wouldn't move. He was hyper aware of the sterile smell of the hospital, somewhat bothering his nose in a way he couldn't describe, and making him feel even more anxious. He could hear Aubrey crying while Kel's muffled whispers as he tried to calm her down. Was she crying because of what happened to Mari? Was she crying because she was scared of him? Sunny wanted to scream, to run over to his friends and tell them it was an accident. Guilt sat like a cold, sharp stone in his stomach. The hard plastic seat under Sunny's rear was very uncomfortable, making him want to move. To get into a more comfortable position. Maybe even lay on his side with his head in Basil's lap, and just cry.

Finally, Sunny was able to move a little, to shift his weight and get more comfortable. As he moved, he tried to pull Basil's hand closer, but Basil jerked his hand away. Sunny looked over and saw the look of fear on Basil's face. What was wrong? Why was Basil scared? Why wouldn't his body work?

Basil couldn't help that his palms were so sweaty. He felt very nervous holding Sunny's hand. Seeing Sunny push Mari seriously scared Basil, and he was so scared that Sunny might lash out at him.

Basil felt Sunny tug at his hand, and he jerked his hand away. He looked fearfully over at Sunny, as Sunny turned his head slightly, his vacant eyes seeming to stare past Basil.

After a while, Sunny's parents arrived, and Basil moved seats. The doctors said some things to Sunny's parents, most of which Basil couldn't understand. The only thing he could make out was that Mari was still alive, but that she might come out of her coma with amnesia. This broke Basil's heart, but he made a vow to make sure everything turned out right in the end.

New Omori story idea coming soon. This story is dedicated to @jaywish289, who had a similar idea to mine. No idea how many parts this story will be yet, but part one will be out when it's done. If anyone has a problem with colored text, please let me know. I want to write Basil's story text in green, and Sunny's in red. This story will follow both of their struggles in an alternate universe where Mari didn't die. So grab your seat belts and your tissues. This is gonna be a wild, emotional ride!

What would happen if your custom video game character came to life? Would there be adventures? Mischief? Chaos...? We'll find out what happens with me and my/Fox's Pokémon trainer Tai, when he comes to my world, if I can ever get Fox to write the story. Honestly, he's so lazy. In the meantime, send me cookies. Alex said if I eat many more, I'm going to get fat *eye roll* so I have to get them by other means. Hopefully he won't see this post...

Kitsun 1

Anthony Witckett sat alone under what he presumed was probably the oldest tree in the area, an ancient oak that boasted shade for all who sat beneath its boughs. As Anthony relaxed, he inhaled, the subtle scent of warm leaves filling his nose, as the sun filtered down, making small disc's of light on the ground. Suddenly, there was a pressure on Anthony's neck, almost choking him. He lurched forward, his attacker's grip tightening. College and quantum physics lectures were far from his mind in this, a real-life struggle in the peaceful shade of the ancient oak. Instinct kicked in, reflexes, honed from years of training taking over. With a surge of adrenaline, he grappled with the arm around his neck, the grip lightening. He scrambled free, tackling the figure to the ground, feeling th rough blades of grass between his fingers and his assailants arms.

Squirming beneath him was Leo, his best friend and usually lighthearted college buddy. Confusion clouded Anthony's face. "Leo? What the...?"

Leo, his face flushed and determined, struggled to speak. "Anthony, not cool. Since when did you get so good at..." He wiggled his hand, struggling to move, "...fighting? What's been going on with you? You've been acting strange lately. Disappearing for hours, these reflexes...it's like you're..." He hesitated, searching for the right words. Finally, he blurted out, "Look, I don't know what's going on with you, but if you're in some sort of trouble, you need to tell me, buddy. We're best friends, maybe I could help."

A frown crinkled Anthony's brow, the sparkle that had come into his eyes at seeing his friend dissappearing. The corners of his mouth turned down, and his eyes seemed to cloud with guilt, and his shoulders slumped. He squeezed Leo's arms a little tighter, betraying his feelings. "I...I can't tell you."

Leo's brow scrunched, his eyes looking sad and worried. "Can't, or won't?"

Anthony's face seemed to turn sad, his dark hair seeming to lift a little with his brows. "It's...it's nothing you need to worry about."

Leo just sighed, relaxing. "Could you at least let me up, buddy?"

Anthony stayed in place for a heartbeat, and then his face lifted in understanding. "Oh..." Anthony hopped up, and he pulled his friend to his feet. Anthony absentmindedly scratched at his arms, inwardly cursing himself for getting on the grass, since it always made him itch.

"Thanks," Leo said, brushing his blonde hair off his forehead. He gingerly reached out a hand and patted Anthony's shoulder. "Hang on. What happened to your glasses?"

"Oh," Anthony said, sounding a little self conscious. "I...haven't been needing them lately. Weird, huh?"

Leo looked a little confused, and then he chuckled. "Careful or someone might think you were that new hero. What was it he calls himself? Kitsun?"

A flicker of nervousness passed over Anthony's face, almost imperceptible. Then he grinned and said, "yeah, that would be something, wouldn't it?"

Leo almost betrayed a look of worry, before he chuckled again and grinned. "Yeah. I wonder if Kaiju Elimination Force will get him."

Anthony grinned and then said, "yeah, right. I thought they were just a myth, like bigfoot."

Leo shrugged. "You never know man. Anyways..." Leo broke out in a big grin. "There's someone I want you to meet." Leo grabbed Anthony's arm and pulled him along to a small courtyard where a few people milled about. Leo pulled Anthony along until they came to a girl who looked to be of Cherokee descent. "Anthony, my greatest buddy and pal. I want you to meet my girlfriend, Emily."

Anthony looked at the girl, her face beautiful and smiling, her black hair pulled back in a pony tail.

Roar! 7

Jake and Alex had found the perfect camping spot and set up a small tent, just large enough for the two boys to sleep comfortably. Alex was out getting fire wood while Jake foraged edible herbs that wouldn't kill them.

As Jake got back to camp, he collapsed and said, "man, I'm so tired..."

"Well, we still need to eat before we go to bed," Alex said, piling the wood into the small hole they had dug. "Or you could just go to bed without dinner," he said with a slight grin.

"Suddenly I feel energized," Jake said, and both boys grinned.

Alex was searching in the pack they had brought and couldn't find the matches. "Hey Jake..." he said, already knowing the answer to the question he planned to ask. "Where are the matches?"

"Oops," Jake said, "I may or may not have forgotten them..."

Alex just stared at Jake, feeling exasperated. "So how are we supposed to start a fire now?"

"Well..." Jake said, "just watch this," he said, grinning. He snapped his finger and said, "foxfire!"

Fire sprang up in the pile of wood and crackled gently.

Alex looked at Jake, looking slightly disappointed in him, "you forgot them on purpose, didn't you?"

Jake laughed nervously and put his hands behind his head, elbows out. "I dunno what you're talking about," he said, trying not to make eye contact with Alex.

"Uh huh," Alex said, trying not to roll his eyes. "Well, at least we have fire now. So when did you learn that trick?"

"About a month ago," Jake said, feeling excited and looking proud of himself. "I was just looking for a chance to surprise you." At this, Jake grinned widely.

Alex just looked at Jake, disappointedly and then grinned. He knew his friend loves to show off occasionally. Especially when he has a new trick up his sleeve.

Jake suddenly looked pensive and Alex said, "What's on your mind?"

Jake grinned and said, "You remember when we first became our animal forms? We were so confused."

Alex smiled slightly and said, "Yeah, you could barely walk. That was pretty random."

Jake smiled again and said, "Yeah, you know me. Always trying to be unpredictable." Both boys chuckled and set about their tasks once more.

As Jake was preoccupied, Alex snuck up behind him, quiet as a mouse, and blew icy cold air across Jake's neck.

Jake yipped and sprang forward, patting the back of his neck. "Geez Alex, where did you learn that?" Jake said, still rubbing his neck.

Alex was sitting on the ground, laughing. "You're not the only one with tricks up his sleeve," he replied.

"Man," Jake said, "you nearly gave me frost bite."

"Ah, you'll live," Alex grinned as he said this, knowing his friend was actually okay.

Jake went back to his work, but held out a hand towards Alex, not even looking up. Alex looked at Jake's hand and arched his eyebrow.

"What?" Alex said.

Jake looked at Alex innocently and said, "give me a cookie for emotional damages."

Alex just rolled his eyes and said, "you can have a cookie when we're done."

"Ah come ooooooooooon..." Jake whined. "Just one. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease?"

"No," Alex said. "Now get back to work."

Jake set back to work, and then there was a rustling in the brush.

Jake quickly got behind Alex, peeking over his shoulder. "What is it...?"

"I don't know," Alex said, getting into a defensive stance.

Just then a stoat hopped out of the brush, blinked up at th two boys, and then said, "hello boys. I've been looking all over for you."
