actually, another thing i adore about beyond evil but also find quite honestly tragic is that lee dong sik might be almost just as alone as han joo won in that he has a whole group of friends but he never not once relies on them for anything, thinking that he needs to handle whatever the hell is going on in his life on his own. he tells ji hoon that hyung will take care of it, he tells jae yi that he won’t be okay if jae yi gets hurt, he even makes sure joo won doesn’t touch jeong je because he realizes jeong je’s fragile. he asks nam sang bae for one thing, and then continues to tell him to back away now, you might get hurt. he tells ji hwa to not cross over on this side–and is rightfully met with oh ji hwa’s exasperation and anger because how dare you tell me not to cross over on this side when i–and so many people–have already crossed over for you.

another reason why i think beyond evil is a rom com: at around the halfway point of the drama, it is absolutely paramount that the heartbroken character returns with a new haircut + a sluttier attitude. case in point, all about my romance, which is perhaps one of the silliest and yet the most rom coms of rom com kdramas: 

just some guy who got his heart broken by his love interest (aka the protagonist), who, frankly, has too much stuff on her plate to go around dating people. so our poor male lead cuts his hair (~symbolism~) and returns with a bit of resentment. 

now, where have we seen this? aha–
