When Rush and Young go to the other ship to investigate and Young learns that Rush has been able to control Destiny--and promptly beats the living shit out of him--you can see the moment his hate twists back into care for Rush. Rush is literally curled against the wall, not really in a protective/fetal position, but more just...broken. He's trying--in his own way--to make Young understand why he didn't tell anyone and Young, even as fed up with Rush as he is, stands there and listens. To me, that is Young's way of showing love/concern/care for someone because he's a military man, a man of action: His first reaction is to always hit the target (literally) in front of him before asking questions. Even when he's asking questions, he doesn't stop to hear the other person out, not patiently anyways. But in that moment, he's giving Rush all the time in the world.

Don't even get me started on that moment when Young messed up the jump back to Destiny and Rush saved him. That moment of eye contact, the unspoken "I trust you" exchanged between them (however tentative given how long they've been suspicious of each other)... *chef's kiss* I don't even care that as soon as they're out of those suits, Rush is going to go to Mandy. That exchange was everything.
