I see your “Arthur has reflective eyes” and I raise you “Arthur eyes look like slit lamp dilated eye exam photos” (that’s when they dilate your pupil and shine light in it to see the blood vessels behind your eye). It’s similar to the red eye effect in flash photography but I’m specifically talking about the blood vessels being visible.

I won’t share images here cause. Close up eyes. But if you look it up you’ll see exactly what I mean

Cause like. Arthur’s eyes being reflective is so cool BUT. That reflection that animals have is due to a tapetum lucidum, which would let John see in the dark. Which he can’t.

Of course, you don’t need to apply logic to something like a fragment of a god in someone eye balls, I just really like applying science to fantasy elements.

Anyway, slit lamp eyes would make his eyes look hollow, like literal windows that John can see out of.

Maybe if you look close enough, you see images in the veins, or maybe they’re all tangled. Like tentacles? Or just cause they’re al scrambled…

Maybe, at a certain angle, you could see a shadow of a figure. Blink and you miss it kind of a thing.

From a distance, these two ideas would look pretty similar, except his pupils would specifically be red.
