OMG I AM SOOO EXCITED!!! Season 1 of this drama was by far the best kdrama I’ve ever watched. Jo Seung Woo and Bae Doo Na are phenomenal actors.

I’ve never watched anime and this sure was the way for me to experience it. It pulled at your heartstrings, left you thinking and weeping... it also left me with a sense of nostalgic melancholy.

This was the weakest apology ever... very sad and disappoint to see something like this not being properly addressed by the artist himself (who I had a soft spot for because he seemed a bit more down to earth). We all make mistakes and it’s our responsibility as adults (he’s not a child and doesn’t need to be coddled) to own up to these mistakes. The way the majority of fans reacted was what made it even worse for me.

Suga and Jim Jones...

Yesterday BTS’ Suga got into hot waters after people found out that one of his tracks used one of Jim Jones’ sermons in the background. If you don’t know who Jim Jones is you can look him up online; he was a cult leader responsible for over 900 deaths, black people for the most part. Considering what is going on at the moment with the Black Lives Matter movement, the timing couldn’t have been worse. Big Hit Entertainment made an official statement apologizing for the tasteless use of Jones’ speech saying: “The vocal sample of the speech in the introduction of the song “What Do You Think?” on the mixtape was selected without any special intent by the producer who worked on the track, who was unaware of the identity of the speaker and used the sample for the overall atmosphere of the song.” Full statement here x.

This is a pretty weak apology and I’m not buying it. You can’t just pass it off as a mistake. No one puts the sermon of a mass murderer in a song by mistake, not even Suga and his friend who helped him produce his song. This is pure ignorance, just like their photo shoot at a holocaust memorial a few years ago in Berlin. Or Jimin wearing the atomic bomb shirt, or them traveling to Saudi Arabia and giving a concert sponsored by the authoritarian government. BTS and Big Hit have shown time and time again, that they do not follow what they preach.

At this point I don’t want to hear about BTS being woke kings who are so socially conscious and different from other idol groups. They are not only not different, they get a pass far more often than others would, thanks to their dedicated fanbase. Let me remind everyone that ‘Armys’ on Twitter and Instagram had the nerve to doxx people for questioning the use of the audio and acted like others are just haters and don’t get the IMPORTANCE of the message of Suga’s song. This could have been cleared up in a civilized manner, but the fandom as always tried to excuse, lie and deny that BTS fucked up and this time they went extremely overboard over something that wasn’t as bad as the holocaust photo shoot or the atomic bomb shirt or the Itaewon incident.

This whole thing has just been awful and I’m tired of fandom sheep mentality (and yes most fandoms act like this, not just BTS fans) it leads to cyberbullying and worse. It also doesn’t sit right with me that BTS are ambassadors for UNICEF and never speak out against what their fandom does. All they ever say is “Love Yourself” and “we want world peace”. I think at this point we can all agree that BTS’ image as woke musicians is as fake as everything else in the idol world. Not only does Suga not take full responsibility for his mistake, he hides behind Big Hit apologizing and blaming the other producer of the song instead of Suga, who was basically just bragging about his success and money. At least they removed the part of the song in question and re-released a new version, but still, we are once again reminded of the ignorance of idols and their agencies.
