You can also insult much, much more subtly not as obviously as in the usa. For example, in the Arab world: What you must also avoid at all costs is showing the soles of your shoes to your Arab counterpart, for example when sitting with your legs crossed. This is like showing your middle finger to someone in the United States of America - a gross insult.

So the next time I'm sitting across from you in a cafe or bar and you're really pissing me off, I'm sure you'll see the sole of my shoe. It's OK if you don't think about it, I won't either!
