There Is An Old Joke That If You Have One Foot In A Bucket Of Boiling Water And One Foot In A Bucket

There is an old joke that if you have one foot in a bucket of boiling water and one foot in a bucket ice, then theoretically you should be OK! Well naturally that is ridiculous, but as today’s graphic illustrates, the same is true for people that are professing to be 'christian' to have one proverbial foot based on living by the Bible while the other is planted in a world of drinking, sex, money and fancy possessions.
Hopefully the contrast is obvious.
Sadly there are those that like the idea of being a Christian but don’t live a Godly life. These people may even faithfully go to church, have Christian friends and maybe also attend a Bible study but may be having sexual affairs, drink too much, obsessed with making or having lots of money and/or wanting flashy cars, homes and clothes to satisfy their egos or to impress other people.
As today’s scripture says, when you try to live two lives and are split between two different worlds, You Are Truly DOUBLE-MINDED And Will Be Unstable In Your Life. If that is the case, what then is the solution?
Romans 8:5 gives us the answer when it states - “Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things…“ (just like this fellow between looking at the raft of lusts!) HOWEVER “…those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.”
If your life is not yielded to God and His principles of life and living, then “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth” (Colossians 3:2) and Be SINGLE-MINDED on only those things that have Eternal Value.

Jesus’ command - “Take up your cross and follow Me” is much more than a symbol of the difficulties, frustrations and pain we as humans experience in this life. Taking up one’ s cross and following Jesus is something completely different.
Because the cross was an instrument of death, Jesus is referring to our commitment to Him, even unto death, meaning that our obedience to the extreme measure and willingness to die is a vital part of truly being His disciple.
Death on a cross was extremely painful and humiliating, so as followers of Christ He expects us to likewise be willing to endure pain or humiliation for Him — no matter what the cost.
This word picture of 'taking up your cross' paints for us the concept of “death to self” which originates in another saying of Christ in Luke 9:24-25, “For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself?” The truth is that NOTHING in this life is worth keeping if it means losing eternal life! Not a job, family, friends, or even your own identity. Discipleship at the core means DISCIPLINE — No Matter What The Cost — but the eternal reward is well worth the temporary pain.
Friend, taking up your cross to follow Christ simply means commitment and obedience to living a disciplined life of obedience to God even if it means giving up your worldly hopes, dreams, possessions - or even your very life if need be.
Christian, are you willing to Take Up That Cross?

Years ago I knew a strong sister in Christ that had a simple but effective way to deal with problems she was going through.
On her kitchen bulletin board, she pinned up a small brown paper bag, and on it it simply said 'THE GOD BAG'
Curious I asked her “What’s that for?” and she said “Whenever I have a problem, I write it down on a piece of paper, throw it into THE GOD BAG and say to myself and to the Lord, 'OK Lord, that problem is yours! And I know you’ll provide a means or way to solve it!'”
As today’s scripture reminds us, we need to cast (i.e. place) all our cares upon the Lord, and not carry them alone because He indeed does care for us! While life can be really hard at times, the Bible says that Christ will stand by our side and help as we plow along the field of life (Matthew 11:29) as He also said:
“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” Matthew 6:34
Friend, when you need assistance, don’t go it alone. Cast your problem into THE GOD BAG!
God Bless Your Day

he now classic “Terminator” movies foretold of a future where advanced computers and robots would become self-aware, rebel against the people that created them, and turn to be the enemy of mankind. Today, with extremely high-speed networking, massive storage, sophisticated robotics and immense computational capability combined with Artificial Intelligence (AI) software, we may in fact be close to a 'SkyNET' moment when our creation will rebel against US.
While this destructive future may soon become a reality, We (also) as the CREATED have rebelled against Our CREATOR. Once Adam and Eve believed the lie that they also would “Be Like God” [ Genesis 3:5,7 ] they too became 'Self-Aware' and rebelled against their Creator. In the Book Of Revelation as well as many Old Testament prophecies, it details how people in the end times will rebel against God in the ultimate hope of destroying Him who created them.
The truth of the matter is that just like the T-800 robot in “Terminator 2” we too have all rebelled against our CREATOR, and that is what the Bible calls SIN. In our self-awareness, we likewise — in our self-aware programming — believe ourselves to be independent beings where our 'Natural Intelligence' says we are free to do as we please, and NOT as our creator originally created us to be.
Like Arnold Schwarzenegger’s robot character in Terminator 2, we can likewise be re-programmed to do good and obey the instructions of Him who created us:
“Do not be conformed to this world, But be transformed by the REWEWAL OF YOUR MIND, That by testing you may Discern what is the will of God, What is GOOD and ACCEPTABLE and PERFECT.” Romans 12:2
Whether you are a Christian —or not yet a believer — transform your mind. Don’t be like the T-800. Put your old thinking aside and put on the perfect mind of God as He originally created you to be!

When I was five years old there was a very steep rocky cliff near my house. One day I sat on the edge of this precipice wondering how far I could scoot off the edge, so I moved down a few inches and all was fine. So I slid down a little further and it seemed easy to get back up if I wanted to.
So far so good.
I slid down a LITTLE MORE... but then the rocks under my behind slowly started to be a little slippery! Although I carefully tried to scoot back up, each time I did I slid a few inches more until finally I was going down the slope at a steady - then quick rate until it was as slick as a slide in the playground!
Fortunately I ended up at the bottom, crying hysterically, but safely winding up in an old man’s backyard terrified at what I had done, and wondering how I could get back up to the top. The kindly elder gentleman managed to pry my name out of me between my tears, looked up our home phone number in the white pages (remember those?!?) and called my mother to come pick me up.
Secret sins in our life are just like that slippery slope. While things may start off innocently enough and are 'So far so good ' like flirting with a co-worker behind your spouse’s back, experimenting with drugs, or secretly doing things you know are wrong. Before you realize it, it gets to point where you are in too deep - and just like being on that rocky slope - you can’t get back and it keeps accelerating until you keep sliding down to your doom.
Although you crash into the bottom of your slippery slope and it seems like there is no way back up to the top, there is a solution!
“Then I confessed my sins to you (and) I did not conceal my wrongdoings. I decided to confess them to you, and You FORGAVE ALL MY SINS.” Psalm 32:5
God is quick to forgive and restore you back home. His number is in the book of the 'White Pages of the Bible,' Call on Him, and HE will restore you to the top.
