Funny how the delta rune fandom treated Berdly as some supervillain and forced homo/transphobic and/or misogynist characteristics on him just to find a valid excuse to hate on him, when he is literally a CHILD that's HEAVILY implied to have been neglected by his parents, and made clear that he wasn't born smart and that he worked HARD for it. When in reality he really just wanted the best for Noelle and was manipulated by Queen. But then proceed to to treat the madman Spamton that literally sells you a damn torture device to two kids on the Alternative Route like a damn poor meow meow. Don't get me wrong Spams got an incredible sad backstory too but it's no excuse for what he did on the Weird Route.

Not saying you can't hate Berdly I just wish they had taken Queen's "there's nothing wrong with him he's just annoying" line to heart because that's it. That's all about it. There's nothing wrong with him, he isn't a super villain or anything like that he's just annoying, he's a TEENAGER for heaven's sake every damn teenager is annoying, Instead of pushing problematic characteristics on him.

Especially with making him "homophobic" when really. He respected Kris pronouns better than the whole fandom every did. (All the humans in ud/dr are non binary and only use they/them)

I believe Berdlys actually very damn brave and cares much for his friends. I absolutely love him and the Weird Route literally shows this:

He realised that something was wrong with Noelle and Kris. He realised that we were hurting Noelle, we were also hurting Kris too be unforntaly he doesn't know about this. But he didn't run away, no no instead he fought us, He wanted to protect Noelle. He wanted to stop what he realised was wrong, He also only targeted Kris because he believed they are hurting Noelle (when in reality it was us but like I said he doesn't know of this) and he isn't stupid he probably realised what Snowgrave was the moment he heard it. But he still didn't run away, I can't imagine how scared he must of been at his last moments but he still didn't run away. Because he cared too much to continue letting us hurt Noelle.

Again it's okay if you dislike Berdly I can understand why but the amount of mischaracterization he got was absolutely insane to me

What no I'm not crying over the fact Alfred and Arthur are both kids in gangstalia which means they got to grow up together and never experienced the drama their nations counterparts suffered. I'm not crying over they being friends and slowly falling in love with each other what are you talking about

so in underverse ink meets cross after timeline x ended, and xtale has been rendered into a white void. i think since ink has fear of emptiness, he wouldn't stay in xtale for too long. instead, in this scenario, he brings cross with him to explore the wonders of the multiverse, teaches cross about the in-and-outs of it, and helps cross to manage his newfound abilities after merging with xchara.

of course, ink is still keeping that promise with his old friend xgaster, but having a new friend wouldn't hurt, right? and ink revels in cross' attention and adoration - he's just so easily enamored with everything the multiverse has to offer. ink can't help getting closer with cross, eventually showing cross his art. cross doesn't understand the importance of this gesture, but he still greatly appreciates it and showers ink's creations with fascination. cross asks ink to teach him how to draw and ink eagerly complies. they just have a great time honestly.

that is, until the honeymoon ends. ink eventually tells cross that he can't help him restore xtale. he's the guardian of creation. he himself cannot create a universe - that is the duty of the creators themselves. hearing this is like the wake-up call to cross. he has forgotten what he has to do all along, his responsibilities. xchara is so vindicated - he knows that nothing about ink can be trusted after all. cross has fallen for the biggest trick in the world. is the time with ink so wonderful that cross is prepared to abandon his empty universe, abandon his friends and family? will he choose ink over them?

... but what if he can have both? he can have ink, and he can find ways to restore his universe? ink wouldn't listen, but cross/xchara can make him listen. they have a power that they haven't experimented on a live being yet - the hack knife. and eventually, ink becomes the first test subject for it. and it's easy, because it's just like a betrayal kill, something that cross is not unfamiliar with, no matter how terrible it makes him feel. but this is for the greater good after all, and ink is too much of a valuable ally (... or something even more) to lose.

and that's how cross and xchara find out about xgaster's plan. imagine how mad they are. but it's fine, really. with ink under their control, they don't have to worry about that old coot anymore. xchara wants vengeance, but cross wants to keep ink. i imagine they don't know about ink's immortality yet, so xchara agrees that ink will be under cross' care. cross is a little bit irate that xchara treats ink like a misbehaved pet, and they argue a lot about it. ink is just so small (he's canonically 3ft8 what), he's vulnerable and cross has to protect him, especially from that damned destroyer who keeps interfering with their plans.

now imagine if cross and xchara meet nightmare and killer. the things killer would comment about how nightmare and cross are so similar with their "pets" and all.

Characterization Notes

Ignore this post, I'm basically taking notes of interactions in hetalia as I rewatch it. Gonna form some headcanons based on observation, mixed with stuff I want in my version of the universe.

Axis Powers

Ep 1-10

Italy preemptively puts himself down when it come to work and physical activity due to his childhood, namely being bullied by other nations and being raised by Austria. He is capable when he's practiced something but he just doesn't put in the effort unless forced or self-motivated.

While Italy loves his brother, he also resents him for getting to stay with the "better" parent during their childhood and also joining in on the bullying once he grew bigger. He tries not to let it show, but he can't put up a loving front when put on the spot whatsoever.

Italy got attached to Germany so quickly due to his first response /not/ being to bully him. Sure, he didn't say great things, but he never kicked his ass and even treated him well as a prisoner in WWI and shortly after, even without alliance being discussed.

Italy likes Japan for the same reasons and basically was given an "endorsement" of friendship via Germany's good word, but it took much longer to grow attached due to their vastly different personalities and cultures.

Romano resents Italy for spending so much time with their grandpa when little, possibly feeling like he lost out on having a real family since he got taken by Spain directly after Rome's death. While he did and does wish they all spent more time together when little, he can't look past having to basically grow up an only child orphan, with his brother so far from him.

Italy has food related anxieties, bordering on a disorder. Due to multiple instances of having famine through out his territory then being denied food for long periods of time by Austria as punishment, whenever he feels a hunger cue, his emotions spike and he will seek out the closest food source. This leads to guilt about eating so much, which worsens the food anxiety and leads to him eating less, which then makes him have hunger cues and the anxiety starts again. This has also worsened his personal image by constant stress plaguing him. He rarely talks about it though, not wanting to worry his friends since they do so much for him already.

America tries so hard to be the "hero" and center of attention due to childhood neglect. He was separated from Matthew once land was divided for the colonies then left alone for long periods of time while England was home taking care of royal business. Alongside seeing continued injustice happen in his territories, once he was able to make his own choices he decided that both the neglect and mistreatment of his people wouldn't continue, forming this attitude. He is well aware that injustice still happens in his country and this makes him feel like a failure, his self consciousness of other nations opinions making him double down on his behavior and act out for attention while he struggles to get his government on the same page with helping the neediest citizens.

England made a potion one day which had a side effect of lessening what flavors he can taste - this results in him making food that tastes bland to others. To him it tastes "fine" cause he simply can't taste most spices, and so he sees using them as a waste of resources with no payoff.

The FACE family is a Thing, but mostly in context. America and Matthew claim to be brothers due to spawning near each other and looking so similar, but there is no direct link between them in the way that Romano and Italy are, with a lineage and such. Because of this, they'll usually act within a family dynamic and AmeCan will even refer to England and France as 'dads' to them, but none of them have ever legally been registered as related. England and France, due to being around so long and having a lot of history, have had basically every dynamic one can think of - they were "family" for a time due to royal lines crossing in marriage and such, which they dealth with, sometimes they were "married" due to political alliances, sometimes they were at war and didn't speak for years on end - everything. In modern day the dramatics are mostly through since things are generally handled by paperwork, so they have an agreement that after a certain number of years they'll meet up and ask for their arrangement to be changed if they feel things are off or dull. Sometimes they say they're married again, sometimes they're not, either way they acknowledge AmeCan as their 'sons' but similarly have their own personal arrangements with each based on comfort. Each pair has had conflicting human titles at some point, to the point if a human asks them if they're related, they'll always say no - they're all "family friends" but not "family". Humans always make things weird when for nations it's kind of the standard.

HRE is canonically in love with Italy - HRE should definitely be Germany with memory loss from the last battle he had as a kid, saved from the battle field by Prussia. While he couldn't stop the nation from dissolving, he could at least brand the kid as a territory or province and stop him from fading like Rome had.

Ep 11-20

America believes that every nation's folklore and spiritual entities do factually exist, but that they're only visible to that specific nation, or a small group of nations who've occupied certain lands for a period of time. He also believes that England can see all magical creatures, not just his own, but he gets nervous about how England interacts with them. Since America is versed in how cryptids and First Nations recognized entities are meant to be handled, he thinks that the brit is playing with fire and basically asking for his people to be spirited away or murdered by playing around with them and speaking their names/giving them cute nicknames. He believes this even moreso every time he's reminded of England's nursery rhymes and folktales, as usually someone ends up hurt or dying horrifically. To try discouraging this behavior, he reacts as if there's no way England's entities exist, hoping it will stop him over time.

Italy is canonically 8 cm shorter than Germany.

Russia was raised by his sisters between long bouts of solitude, making him overjoyed at being included and listening to others. In the scenes where he's suddenly creepy with France after the meeting, it's because he's actually extremely pleased and is embodying love and kindness in the way Belarus showed him when younger. He's fucking terrified of his sister and is fully aware that his "love" scares others as well, but he doesn't know how to show it positively so he relents and allows himself to scare them versus bottling his emotions all the time.

America and Germany are both autistic, they just show different traits of it to varying degrees. America has a near crippling sense of justice and ARFID which changes with the decades, his safe foods are usually ones that trigger either bloating or IBS, while Germany has a detrimental habit of following rules and instructions to the letter, though he does get irritated if there's a clearly more efficient way to do things and his superiors don't allow him to. Germany and America both have a hard time differentiating tone but while Germany plainly ignores that there may be a tone, America attempts to guess the tone and react appropriately, his guesses just miss a fair amount of the time. Matthew tries to help him where he can, but it's not perfect, as colloquial terms and etiquette vary between their countries and America differing regions have even more nuance that's difficult for Canada to keep up with.

China and all of his "siblings" have a similar situation to the FACE family, but have less instances of inter-relating due to China basically being a patriarch of at least half of them depending on the time period. Due to this, they'll more readily call each other family and siblings when asked by humans what their deal is, but they never use paternal relations, only different levels of sibling in their own language. Some are happier with his arrangement than others; Japan has been fairly opposed to being related whatsoever since the beginning but usually puts up little fight out of respect for China raising him when he first formed.

Ep 21-30

Italy states that he's on medication - he doesn't say what kind but its assumed to be either anxiety meds or antipsychotics due to the figures he sees afterwards, implying he's seen them before. Germany probably helps him out with remembering to take it, both at all and on time.

Germany likes to have things very clean, but he likes the act of cleaning more. He has no idea that it's cause cleaning reminds him of Italy back when they were under Austria.

Switzerland is totally Lithflux Ace; Lichtenstein is Demiro Ace.

Germany legitimately can't predict what Romano is ever going to say or do and this makes him nervous, so he generally avoids him whenever possible. Due to how little they interact, he got legit scared when Italy called and sounded like they had something terrible going on - Germ was ready to kick serious ass and unify the shit out of the brothers.
