WAIT A MINUTE; a checklist for underwriters

(disclaimer: these are suggestions, and i personally find them useful. they may not work or be necessary for you.)

Setup: has the scene been properly contextualized? does the author know why the characters are here/acting this way? Setting: where does this scene take place? it is a new location? is it described thoroughly? what time of day is it? how does this affect the characters? Thoughts: have all the character’s motivations been explained? is there enough internal monologue here to guide the action? what’s going on beneath the surface? Conclusion: has the scene been ended properly? what has changed since the beginning of the scene? is that shown? is there enough setup for the next scene? is the pacing rushed?
