I am many things, an introverted enigma among them. Fan of obscure non-human protagonists in scifi/fantasy fandoms, and Tragedies in the old literary way. Ghostie_Jakxy_Gray on ao3, insta, kofi, assorted others. If I want you to DNI I'll block you like a regular quasi-human being.

Yes, Idris Elba. I probably should be.

Prying my doomed oc out of their universe and sitting them in front of my other oc so they can be friends and have a little play-date. enrichment time

Obviously it's because 'genre' is a marketing term before and above everything else. But I really do wish there was some convenient way to distinguish like
genres like 'fantasy' or 'horror' where the genre is basically just a vibe, a big mess of tropes and aesthetics and references and moods where as long as you throw enough of them in somewhere only the most tedious and pedantic people alive are going to quibble about whether it's really an example of the genre.
genres like 'romance' or 'mystery' where the genre specifies above all a specific sort of story structure, which a great mass of the audience for the genre expects and will be annoyed at any major deviations from.

appalachia is devastated. towns i loved, towns i visited all the time, are gone. not damaged, GONE. they are leveled to the ground. there is nothing left but rubble and ruin. people are dead. appalachia is poor to begin with and relies on tourism for a lot of its income, and multiple of those tourist locations are just...gone.
my town is okay, but it's flooded and wrecked. trees are blocking all but one way out of our neighborhood. power lines are hanging limp in the roads. we've been without power for over 24 hours and will continue to be without power for likely another 24+. disabled people and poor people are GOING to die from this. gods save appalachia.
does anyone who makes imperial radch fanart here have a store where i can buy ur prints, or otherwise know of where i can buy some?????? there are literally four things on redbubble and i already bought one of them lmao
I love that Breq told station security how she's so so busy she can't possibly help resolve the protests over the Undergarden bc she has soooo much going on schedules already packed sorry Head of Security Lusulun
And then promptly drops everything to go downwell to meet with Citizen Queter as soon as she receives the request. And she's towing around a 3000 year old ancillary who hates her and a presgr translator who unnerves everyone she interacts with. Like sorry Security I can't help you gentrify that neighborhood but I can hang out with the weirdest people available and support an oppressed farmworker
So sick of dog motif what about cat motif.
I love you but we don't love the same. I can't be near you when you want me to be. Your love is smothering and your need to keep me safe is trapping me. I'm my own person but I don't know how to show you that. I lash out and hurt you even though I don't mean to. I need you to move slowly around me or I'll bolt. I love you, even though I don't say it. If you stay still I'll sit next to you, and even though we don't understand each other we can be together like that.

I read the first two Imperial Radch books and then had to wait for the third one to be available at the library and I missed Breq so much. She's literally awesome no one is doing it like her she's a bitch she's hilarious her favorite thing to do is stare at someone who just said something stupid until they retract it she's ten steps ahead of everyone she has inside jokes with her fellow spaceship she's two thousand years old she sings to herself all the time she has a bad voice in the last book she collected not one but two struggling teenagers every single action she takes is motivated by her love for someone she killed 20 years ago
Anyway she's so real for this:

I am so deeply fascinated by those illustrations of Coruscant having harbors. Like, water harbors. Piers. You can go to the docks in the underlevels and stare out over an ocean locked inside a man-made cavern. Isn't that so crazy. Like there would be deep sea creatures close to the surface at all times because natural light is sparse. You can get street food and sit in the climate-control breeze in neon lighting while looking at fish that are just as neon bright. Terrifying. But you can't deny the vibes

Head in the clouds
How fucking annoying is it when you feel so restless with creative energy but you can’t decide what to do with it and when you finally try to create something it comes out shit so you just give up and sit there being all creatively annoyed and jittery.
I'm sorry, but I'm just too fucking old to pretend that the presidential ticket of "Person who performed some of the first gay marriages in her state while it was still federally illegal" and "governor who created a trans refuge state while other states were making it illegal to transition" is somehow 'jUsT aS bAd foR QuEer pEopLe' as the ticket promising to reverse marriage equality and make trans healthcare next to impossible.
That is such a monumentally stupid opinion that I'm going to have a hard time believing that you're actually that stupid, and I'll probably just assume you're malicious.

I need all my friends in my house so I can make them pancakes when I'm worried

Really happy to see this at my local library
When I grow up I wanna be upper middle class.
