Considering the hospital events could see them wearing it to cover a scar on their head that they're really self conscious about. It's their favorite because it's light and doesn't agitate it like a hat would.

also maybe it's a form of comfort, like they see it as an extra layer to make sure they don't get any more. Ultimately no it won't protect them and they know it, but it makes them feel better sorta thing ;u;
