ok word vomit but thinking about the way some kids suppress memories as a trauma response, and how some kids have visceral reactions to triggers… jiro and zenji must have undergone something incredibly traumatic as kids (an Event), and jiro blocked it out?

it probably can explain why the presence of the crying child coincided with an attack - it either reminded him of himself crying or zenji crying in response to an Event and immediately launched a maladaptive behaviour to help block the memory from resurfacing.

perhaps the reason why jiro hasn’t drawn the link between trigger and behaviour is because he hasn’t met many crying children or things that remind him of his childhood (given that you know . his brother is dead)… or maybe because he and yuri have already linked the behaviour to a different trigger (forgetting to take his medication).

but zenji doesn’t have the same reaction, because he has to remember, because he has to take care of jiro. that’s how he can report case history to mc, tell her that that jiro’s presenting behaviour can strike anytime, and that jiro befell a tragedy that makes him forget etc etc, because he still remembers what happened and he knows its effect on jiro. and that’s how he also knows that (maybe) anything negative related to zenji or their shared childhood will trigger an attack.

which also explains why he wants to keep him being around a spirit a secret / doesn’t want to remind jiro of his existence - because he knows that jiro will suffer for it. maybe as long as jiro’s reminded of zenji dying in the clash, he’ll recall the Event from their childhood and his body’s physical reaction will be so extreme it’ll put him out of commission. no matter how proud he is of his baby brother and how much he wants to interact with him, he’s not willing to put jiro through a world of suffering just so jiro can remember him, especially not since jiro has such a bright future ahead of him.

but some part of jiro does remember, and some part of his network gets activated whenever he hears something zenji used to say. and maybe that’s why he responds with “…where did you hear that?” when mc parrots zenji’s somewhat atypical “many hearts make the dream work” quote…

which points to jiro’s semantic memory being intact post-Event. only his episodic memory has been affected, which again points more to some suppression instead of full on retrograde amnesia.

but iirc we don’t know how far back from before the clash it’s been wiped so this might all be nonsense lmao 🏃🏻

From beside Yuri, Kaito tugs at Luca's collar, the transfer student sitting in front of him. "Can we shift seats? He's seriously creeping me out." He whisper-yells but Luca shakes his head, frowning at Kaito.

"That's not nice, Kaito. He's still your classmate, you can get along." He should've selected another class. Why did he have to end up in the same elective class as Luca and Yuri?!

Today was his lucky day! He didn't see a single Frosthiem student, Kaito doesn't exist, and he gets to see you! He needs to know your name and needs to flirt with you.

As he stares at you, following you into the hallway. 'They're too beautiful. No, beautiful isn't even closet describing them,' He drops his books too deep in thought about you.

'Should I help him? He'll be fine right?' You watch as he picks up one paper and it somehow falls to the ground again.

'Yeah, he needs help,' You ultimately decide, walking up to him and crouching to pick up his books. However, your entire self is wondering why he's not picking them up and just watching you!?

Passing the books back, you flash him a smile before getting up.

"You," You hum, gesturing him to go on. "Have you gotten all your flu shots?" In the shadows, a certain grim reaper has to stop himself from laughing.

"Excuse me??" He repeats the question, turning more embarrassed as the second passes, "I have...?"

"Good." He nods, walking past you while humming something loudly. You swear you can hear wedding bells go off in his mind.

"What the actual fuck am I hearing right now?" Leo cringes at the conversation. He was sitting by the bushes to get some peace and quiet but he heard the Mortkranken doctor have literal zero game?!

He's definitely not going to get the person he has a crush on.

the other day i started writing an office romance but i quickly remembered that i have no idea what working in an office is like

Since the whole thing with NaNoWriMo has gone down, I've noticed that one of their former sponsors, Ellipsus, has cut contact with NaNoWriMo because they do not support their stance on AI; I didn't know what Ellipsus was, but upon further research I've found that they are a writing platform that works a lot like Google Docs and Microsoft Word, only with a heavier leaning on the story-writing aspect and connecting with other writers - and they also completely denounce any use of AI, both in the writing process itself and in the use of their platform. I really appreciate that.

Since this is the case (and since I've noticed Google has begun implementing more AI into their software), I've decided to give Ellipsus a try to see if it's a good alternative to Google Docs (my main writing platform). It's completely free and so far, I've found it simple to use (although it is pretty minimal in its features), and I really like the look of it.

I figured I'd spread the word about this platform in case any of you writers would want to give it a try, and if you do, let me know how you like it!

When tumblr collapses I will email you all a monthly newsletter with my diary entries and make collages to simulate my reblogs. and I will want you ladies to do the same and also possibly send back a heart to "like" it

It's incredible how people have been protesting pants and skirts not having pockets but not a single peep is heard over the fact that skirts no longer have underskirts by default. Underskirts (or lining) was a thing when I was a child, no skirt would be made without lining, you didn't have to think and check if your whole ass is visible in a skirt because lining was a thing!!!! Now most skirts don't and it's simply because it's cheaper, fuck the fact that a customer doesn't want their panties shown in broad daylight, it saves a couple of cents on material.
