Oswald wasn't interested in drawing a lot of attention when they go to this party, but it appeared Jack had different plans.

"You're dressed in a way that will draw a lot of attention, but I suppose that is what you want..." At least all eyes would be on Jack and not on him. So, maybe his clothing wasn't that much of a problem.
