(me still being behind on sy content but) huge fan of whenever the love interests openly advocate for mc's independence despite everything (and all the reminders of mc's competence) and arent always the ones to do stuff like suggest the candlelit dinner mc did here
i mean, that is a very basic prerequisite to growing bonds, and i hate my revelling in these casual things being partly due to some contrary fanon id rather forget, but still. and "who could ever do anything to me except you" was smooth
the way stories are delivered in this game is a lot like a more organized version of those old 100+ chapter fics on fanfiction dot net summary'd like "collection of oneshots/drabbles in no particular order :)" (which i used to live for) and i love it actually. to keep getting to know the characters' lives all throughout time so even if im so sure there'll be a tragic or bittersweet finale, it doesnt feel as bad. with, on another note again, its respect to several nonromantic portions of interpersonal & individual (and worlds) development as well- this game is almost ideal to me in that way
