Danny Arrives In The DC Universe And, For One Reason Or Another, Decides To Help Fight Some Bad Guys.

Danny arrives in the DC universe and, for one reason or another, decides to help fight some bad guys. But he doesn't do it as Phantom or Fenton, oh no. He doesn't want either of his identities to get mixed up in all this nonsense and get traced back to him. So what does he do?

Crappy cosplay.

He's in Metropolis and Superman needs a little help? He's showing up in a blue tee with a paper superman symbol visibly tapped on the front. He's wearing blue jeans with red boxers over them. He's wearing a cheap mask of Supe's face that was clearly bought from the dollar store.

He's in Gotham? His cape and cowl is a curtain duck-taped into a barely passable hood with paper for the mask and toilet paper rolls for the ears.

Wonder woman? It's some kind of swim suit, put over his clothes mind you, and he has a wig that is clearly made of a mop.

He's showing up in bootleg merchandise, clothes that are the wrong color, accents that are made of paper and visibly taped on, armor that is made of cardboard and tinfoil, literal undergarments on the outside of his clothes, symbols put backwards or upside-down, costumes that generally look like he put them together in five minutes.

At some point, it becomes some sort of game amongst the Justice League to see who the cosplayer will dress up as next. They have a betting pool to see who's the next one to be cosplayed.

Danny runs to Gotham after a reveal with his parents gone wrong. Bruce Wayne ends up catching on to the fact that he's a homeless kid in need of a good home. Danny, however, does not want to deal with another rich, potentially-insane, definitely-obsessed A-hole, so he does his best to steer clear of him. Doubly so when Batman takes an interest, as he want to put his hero days behind him.

Eventually, Danny, sick of running and wanting a way to make the two stop hunting him, decides that he should let someone else adopt him instead. Cut to him being found by Harley Quinn, who decides that she should totally pull a Bruce and adopt this black-haired, blue-eyed child. Hopefully Ivy won't mind!

He Proceeds To Use What He Was Given In All The Wrong Ways In Order To Stay On Brand. He's Putting Suits

He proceeds to use what he was given in all the wrong ways in order to stay on brand. He's putting suits on backwards, putting the wrong parts with different heroes (i.e. Superman Shirt with Batman's cowl while in Gotham), at one point he tapes a suit to the outside of his clothes rather than putting it on normally.

The closest he got to wearing a proper cosplay is when someone accidentally gave him a suit that was a few sizes too large, so Danny stuffed it with as many pillows as he could.

Danny arrives in the DC universe and, for one reason or another, decides to help fight some bad guys. But he doesn't do it as Phantom or Fenton, oh no. He doesn't want either of his identities to get mixed up in all this nonsense and get traced back to him. So what does he do?

Because he was refusing to indulge his space obsession, Danny instantly starts stargazing, acting all happy and innocent and spacey (ba-dum-tss), his obsession overriding any panic for a few minutes.

When previously interacting with the League in space form, Danny pretended that he couldn't remember much about himself, even his name (resulting in him getting the nickname Comet). He also pretended he couldn't remember how he got in the Watchtower.

Between these two facts, Phantom's attempting to remain in hero form, and Comet regularly disappearing from the Watchtower, the League concludes Phantom and Comet are split personalities, with Phantom being aware of it but Comet not. They also believe that Phantom only becomes Comet when he's been weakened or is surrounded by space, mainly because Comet always seems so faded when he's in the Watchtower.

Danny, once he's able to get his head on straight, decides to roll with it.

DP x DC combined with the Balanced/Dual Obsessions AU where Danny frequently goes to the Watchtower to safely stargaze and fulfill his secondary space obsession while invisible, and he’s been doing this for months and has yet to be noticed (albeit there has been some moments where members of the Justice League have felt a little creeped out, and the Flash swears he saw a glowing kid when he ran past the main room earlier, but when he stopped running the kid was gone-).

He sometimes brings some homework or snacks and other such things up with him.

One day, he just,,, gets so entranced watching space that he just… forgets to be invisible, and scares the FUCK out of half the Justice League due to suddenly appearing.

One rushed explanation later, Danny manages to convince them that he’s just a harmless, powerless ghost, who just wants to stargaze. He stays semi-intangible, and flickers to invisibility a couple times to make it seem like he doesn’t have enough power to form a corporeal form. And you know, they believe him.

He doesn’t plan to keep that up for long, but you know how it is with Danny and lies.

Eventually, the Justice League needs help with a threat.

So of course, Danny shows up to help out.

But the thing is. The differences between how he looks when fulfilling his hero obsession (heroic/protective aura, more confident stance, etc) and his space obsession (looks more childish/his actual age, comforting/kind aura, star freckles), plus the way he made himself seem slightly less corporeal when in the Watchtower, lead the Justice League into believing that these are two different ghosts.

Especially since Danny never gave them his name when in the Watchtower, claiming he didn’t remember it. (He does tell them to call him Phantom when he helps them out though).

Danny finds out about this assumption and doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry over having to keep up ANOTHER secret identity. He refuses to go to the Watchtower despite being inducted into the Justice League because he knows the instant he steps in there his space obsession will take over and he’ll be outed.

….And then one night, while stargazing, he accidentally leaves behind the Crown of Fire. So, the next day, mid-afternoon, Phantom shows up, in hero obsession mode, desperately searching the Watchtower for his crown, pointedly Not Looking at the Windows.

A couple of people (namely Batman) figure out what’s going on/see him flicker to space mode while searching, but overall it’s still a surprise to the majority of them when Phantom breathes out a sigh of relief upon finding the crown… and adrenaline rush over, snaps immediately into space mode in front of them.

Considering how many League Members have died or at least gotten close? They already give off dead vibes.

Also, considering everyone is probably wasted at that point, no one really notices or cares. They ain't the Guys in White or any kind of ghost hunter. It's a free realm. Ghost adjacent are welcome.

The only one they would actually notice and care about, even through the haze of intoxication, is John Constantine. That due gives of the rankest of vibes because of what he did with his soul.

The League of Assassins hideout with the Lazarus Pit has been attacked, with many members suddenly going silent. Of course, this fact makes its way back to Batman.

When the Justice League arrives to figure out what is going on, they find a group of 'metas' throwing a party, all of them with cups filled with Lazarus Water.

As it turns out, the Lazarus Water is actually high quality ghost booze, and a group of specters has decided to set up the current Ghost King's wedding reception around the best source of it.
