All dragons who survived the dragon war and are still alive by the time Alduin returns are referred to as Old Ones by their siblings.

Because his wings are so badly damaged, Paarthurnax can’t actually fly. He can, at most, jump around and kinda glide, but not actually fly.

While he may look old, Paarthurnax is just as spry as those who were recently brought back to life. Sorta like how age doesn’t affect Steven Universe’s gemkind, but a dragon’s physical form can be permanently damaged.

As dragons can eat if they want, but is not a requirement, Paarthurnax actively chooses not to. Hunting down animals would make keeping his instincts at bay more difficult that it needs to be, and while gliding down from the Throat of the World would be easy, having to crawl back up there would be less than ideal.

While in combat, Paarthurnax generally tries to avoid using the Voice unless it’s absolutely necessary. Because of this, he’s really good at ground melee combat. Because his wings are already too damaged to fly, he can afford to be far more aggressive than his siblings while they’re on the ground.

Odahviing, while he resides on the Throat of the World, doesn’t follow the Way of the Voice until the Dragonborn directs/persuades him to, or Paarthurnax gives him the ol’ “you can’t just fight everything to prove your point” card if/when Odahviing questions Paarthurnax about his teachings.

That being said, while dragons generally don’t talk much, Paarthurnax and Odahviing p regularly engage in p deep conversations about anything and everything

Paarthurnax admires Odahviing’s fiery spirit, but Odahviing’s impatience can make the “young” dragon frustrated. Paarthurnax teaches - or at least tries to - him to be more patient by meditation and the like, but the moment Odahviing hears his name on the wind, he’s off like a rocket.

It will take time to get him and his siblings to understand, Paarthurnax knows, but he has all the patience in the world. You kind of have to when your well over 7,000 years old.

All in all, Paarthurnax is a good dragon grandpa but he will still kick your ass

The first time I played New Vegas I got SO emotional about the courier. They're someone who has no choice but to rely on the kindness of strangers. When they're shot and buried alive there's no one who asks where they went. Everywhere you go they're remembered only as a courier and mostly as a job and a package. They never begin to remember things, but it doesn't seem to matter because it's like the world doesn't remember them either. They are, for all intents and purposes, dead and have been for quite some time. They leave Doc Mitchell's house wearing a pip boy they've never seen before and the suit for a vault they've never heard of. Their life was saved by Victor, not because anyone saw it fit that they survive but because they could be useful in recovering a package. Their life was saved by their potential usefulness to House and nothing else. I think that's why I like the main plot of finding Benny so much. Jessup remembers them, sorta, but he mostly remembers being cheated. When you finally reach the Tops that "What in the God damn?" Feels so deserved, it feels like someone is ACTUALLY seeing, remembering, and recognizing the courier as a person. How are they alive? No person should have recovered from all of that. This is also part of why I love Ulysseys so much, he doesn't know them personally but he knows them in the way that a neighbor does. He knows parts of them even they don't, because that's the role he's been forced into: a living memory. Someone who remembers nothing and can only move forward and someone who must remember everything and wants more than anything to move on.

the real difference between Fallout 4 and New Vegas is that Bethesda was like "hey would you like to have sex with a hot older lounge singer who you've heard singing on the radio and is voiced by the old school Wonder Woman?" but Obsidian was like "hey would you like to have sex with some goofy gangster in an ugly suit who shot you in the head and is voiced by Chandler Bing?"

and you know what? both were completely valid in completely opposite ways.
