Schadenfreude can be a great motivation.

As much as I like the Demon TILF design. I feel inclined to agree

Did a serious redesign cause the idea of a demon teaching ethics is cool but instead they went with a weird fetish character.

If they want diverse body type girls, how about a lich? She doesn't need to be hot.

Finally I can play as a dilf in an MMO

I remember lily once said that the ffxiv character creation had misogyny (or some other similar bullshit I’m not willing to look through her entire blog to find exactly what she said) … you know ignoring the fact that male characters can also be sexualised and that females have plenty of non skimpy clothing they can wear.

That sounds like a weak excuse she came up with because she didn't want to play FF14. I say this, because she's played WOW, and I guarantee you that there is some underlining misogyny in their character creator. And since I don't like making bold claims without proof, here it is.

Let's start with our most famous race, the orcs.

Here's a male Orc:

Kind of ugly right? They'll even let you give him a hunch as he walks for extra points. Now, obviously that's the point with these guys, they aren't meant to be pretty.

But here's what their woman look like:

Huh... not overly ugly. They are buff, which is nice, but the face doesn't really look brutal like the male orcs, they definitely lean more into the thin and conventionally hot side and they can't hunch over like the males do, if I remember correctly.

But you know, that's just one race. What about the Trolls? Here's a male troll:

Alright, pretty sweet, all lanky, big tusks that look to be customizable, cool color pallet, and I know their a tall race. They look pretty unique. What about the woman?

Ah. I see. Another pretty lady. This time she's skinnier then the orc, has nice arm muscles, but over all just screams "Hot Hippy Woman".

But Maybe I'm reading to much into this, it's two races. We'll have a problem if I managed to find a third... Oh wait.

Here's a male Tauren:

Pretty buff, looks like a beaffy buffalo man. Not the prettiest guy in the world, but he sure does look unique.

What about their woman?

Ah, I see. Sexy cow.

Hell, the Aliance isn't free from this ether. Here's the Draenei:

Notice how we once again have a male with unique leg animation, giving them more of an alian goat vibe tied with an unconventional face? The female on the other hand, just looks like a conventional sexy alien girl. Which, I'm not complaining, I played a Draenei because I liked how the girls look.

This issue here is that almost all of the females have this issue, where the men can have their character be as gross or unconventionally attractive as they want, while the woman get variations of Cute, Petite, Pretty, or Sexy. Except for maybe Undead, but even then, they can't be as gross as the men.

And as far as I know, WOW doesn't let the men make their characters wear sexy outfits.

What about FF14? What's the worst I can pull from them?

Wow, look at that disparity right there.

I actually play a girl from this race, because I find them cool looking. But, notice how the men have lean bodies and are in more revealing clothes?

To me, the men look sexy while the girls look cute, so I find them equal, though that is subjective. But what about the Roe's? I guess FF14's orc equivalent.

These ladies are the tallest in the game, and there men tower over them, but they aren't worse then the orcs. It probably helps that I find the woman have major Step On Me energy, and the men look like berserkers who give good hugs.

But I will admit, as much as I love the woman in this race, they aren't the most equal ether, and they are dressed sexier then the men. (Though now I want to see a male Roe in a sexy outfit. I know it's possible.)

Kay, last one, I won't pull open the Bunny girls, because the Bunny Boys aren't out yet, so let's got Miqo'te, the most popular race in the game:

Oh no, the girls are in revealing clothing that you can quickly change out of! In all honesty though... I like them. Both the woman and men are serving the same energy. Actually, I think they put a lot of work to make the men have a sexier posture, while the girls have a flirty energy to them.

Still, to me, this isn't any better or worse then WOW's character creator, and in fact, I find that these designs appeal more to me, as a player. Especially since they have more customization options to chose from, and there isn't that much of a difference outside of emotes.

I'll let you guys decide if there's any point to this claim, but I do want to note one thing: FF14 doesn't have ugly races like WOW does. So every character/race, is designed to be different forms of appealing to people playing the game and feed into that desire to be some variation of hot, buff or sexy. Hoard, on the other hand, has races that aren't pretty, but the woman still somehow manage to come out as conventionally attractive.

Now, if I really wanted to really go all feminist lit on this, it would take a lot more work that I frankly don't have time for. So take these as surface level thoughts and do with them as you wish.

Writing tip no. 2

When talking about your work with other people, don't insult your work, by saying things like: "Oh my work is trash." or "I hate my writing." Not only will it make you feel bad, it will make people in your writing group who look up to you feel like crap as well. You wouldn't say this to a younger writer, so why are you saying this to yourself?
