I watched "Mean Girls" (original) on my flight over, and let me tell you, I never understood the whole "Janis is the real villain" type of thing

Like we know she's the one who originally goaded Cady into worming her way into the Plastics and sabotaging Regina, but it's not even half way through the film that we see that she and Damien are getting tired of it

And the whole point of "Mean Girls" is that everyone was awful to each other. Cady, Regina, Janis, Gretchen, Karen, the movie is literally called "Mean Girls". There is no singular antagonist or villain bc at some point, everyone plays that role. The whole thing is that Cady turned into what she detested, not who pushed her into it or who's to blame

Janis is not the "real villain" nor is anyone else, bc guess what? There never was one
