Why Omega Might Be Female

Why Omega Might Be Female

Foetuses become male with the introduction of testosterone, stopping that keeps them female. It would’ve been stupid easy for the Kaminoans to make her female.

Thanks to Arla Fett & Jango’s mom  [plus Rex] we know that blond hair runs in their family, more likely to appear in females.

Now, why make her a female? It’s simple.

Her eggs.

Every woman is born with loads of eggs inside her ovaries, going through roughly 12 a year throughout her lifetime. Since Humans in Star Wars can reach 100, that’s roughly 1,200 eggs for the picking.

I doubt menopause is an issue where there are space wizards and space cowboys, but I could be wrong, so we take 300 or so off.

That’s still 900.

That’s how cloning in real life currently works. DNA added to an empty egg-cell, available to do whatever is needed.

The generation one clones are good and all, but their mere body can only do so much. Hair, skin, muscle and blood is enough to start, but not sustainable.

Just with one egg, they have Jango’s reliable DNA and can clone that clone. Do that 900 times, plus some genetic enhancement editing, that’ll be ludicrous.

Advanced ageing would interfere with this process, hence why she grows normally.

Given that she must be 13 or so, given Rex’s age, Nala Se must’ve raised her since infancy. I doubt she has a semblance of a heart, but Omega is HER project, so she’s being protective of it. Doesn’t absolve her of her bullshit against Fives, though.

Omega’s design inspirations

In The Bad Batch, it has been revealed that Omega is an unaltered Jango clone. She is the Omega to Boba’s “Alpha.”

image

In the comics, Jango Fett’s family also look very similar to Boba and Omega.

image

I’d suggest that Omega’s design, and perhaps Arla Fett’s as well, are inspired by Temuera Morrison’s sister, Taini.

image

And comments by Daniel Logan on his own family also give credence to this design choice being one inspired by real-life Maori families.

image

I have been and am a supporter of the Unwhitewash The Bad Batch movement. However, I’d also propose that Omega’s design is a tribute to Temuera Morrison’s sister, Taini, and not out of order when considered in light of comments by Daniel Logan on his own family.

Taini Morrison was a legendary haka performer. She had a crucial influence on modern-day Maori performance and her contributions have been celebrated by many people. She passed away suddenly in 2009.

Here are several other photos of her.

WAIT

I need Anakin’s Troopers and Padmé’s Handmaidens to interact

Picture this:

Rex and Sabé both standing inconspicuously outside a broom closet playing lookout for Padmé and Anakin.

“So…see any good Holos lately?” Sabé asks.

“I don’t have off time to watch holos.”

“Oh.”

“Do you think we’ll be able to leave soon.” Rex says.

*crashing in closet*

“No.” Sabé replies.
