I know a lot of people hate/really dislike the MC in Doki Doki Literature Club (which is valid, do whatever/feel however you want about him) but I think it's fun to delve a bit deeper than "he's selfish & just wants to land a date with one of the girls"

He's not actively making decisions; he's a stand in for us, for the player. He has just as much control as Sayori, Yuri, & Natsuki, which is none at all. he doesn't choose who to talk to first or what to say, the player & the game itself push those decisions. He has to witness his best friend die over & over even if he doesn't realize it's happened before. Monika doesn't like him because he doesn't really exist.

She likes us. The player. A real person. MC is just a pawn, a distraction to keep her from getting out. He's so interesting to me because he has no actual character beyond the game's script, & it makes sense.

I know it's a little late to say this but for my fellow gravity falls fans who don't handle unreality/certain fourth wall breaks, the book is fictional, and nothing bad will happen if you read it. bill can't actually see through drawings or sculptures, as fun as it is to joke and play with that concept, he's fictional. it's okay. I know it seems obvious, but I've had plenty of times where things didn't feel real and it can be hard to distinguish between reality and fiction, so stay safe and have fun everyone 🌠

i want to embrace the cringe but i feel as though people will find my au weird clenches teeth together. it's a bill redemption au? a little? where he's shoved into a human's body, doesn't really remember being, well, Bill, and gets stuck in a portal alongside dipper because i think a friendship between two people(?) who still need to figure themselves/their morals out would be fun but i dont want anyone to make it (the bad) weird or get the wrong idea
