Hanyo No Yashahime is worse than I could have ever imagined. I’m shocked that the series would rather have grooming/pedophilia over proper lgbt representation. Also ruining Sesshomaru’s character. At least Inuyasha wanted to have kids. Which he ruined for him. He’s a horrible father and brother. It’s funny how he took better care for Rin than his own daughters and also creepy. The series is super misogynistic even though it’s supposedly a “girl power” anime. Using child Rin scenes for the opening and presenting her as girl at the start to then the mom of the twins?? How is that not alarming? I’m disgusted by how low this anime gets. The fandom needs to stop treating Sesshomaru like if he’s a clueless and secretly caring dad cause he’s not. He had a weak pull out game and didn’t want to take actions for the twins. He got a girl he knew as a child pregnant. Gross gross gross. Being a groomer is not a cultural thing stop being racist and normalizing Sessrin as a happy pair. I don’t get it’s popularity. There were no “moments” between them in the original because Rin was a child. I really just wanted to see Inuyasha and his gang live the happy life they deserved. Not this bs.

Inuyasha was sealed to a tree for 50 years and now he’s being kept in a pearl for 14 years. Keep in mind that the events in Inuyasha only took about a year, and the sequel happened shortly after.

However, it is canon that Pedomaru continued to visit R/n and give her gifts. He didn’t just leave her in Kaede’s village and cut all contact, so by confirming [redacted], Yashahime officals have retroactively changed the context of their bond.

As mentioned before, their original dynamic had no romance. Meaning, it wouldn’t be accurate to utilize their initial interactions from the original series as evidence for the pairing (aside from the fact that she’s a fucking CHILD). And because the sequel has yet to provide any development (with R/n being in a tree for 10 years), the writers can’t use “minor” R/n moments either, which is why they retconned their original relationship and used their child/adult moments as foundation for the pairing. This was evidenced in the second opening song, when they used child R/n imagery to juxtapose with InuKag (a canonically, intimate couple).

The writers/designers knowingly chose to utilize child images of Rin to showcase the starting point for their “romance.” They chose to include a title card in the first episode to acknowledge R:n as the “girl who adores Pedomaru,” which you shippers took as a hint for their relationship. Her youthfulness was given more credence in episode 3, when they called her, “onago.”

So no. The fans aren’t applying “twisted” logic. If [redacted] had no romance from when she was 8-11, and we’re now being told that they got together in this sequel, when did their supposed romance start? The twins were born 4 years after TFA, in which R/n was 11. Meaning, she was 15 when she gave birth. Factor in the second opening song and the imagery it entails...

It’s not that fucking hard to see why people take issue with this relationship. Sunrise changed the context. Sunrise retconned their relationship. Sunrise used child images of Rin as the foundation for their “romance” and proceeded to not give “minor” R:n a personality, thereby leaving the fans with an 8 year old’s disposition. They even started the sequel with child R/n and put her in the kimono she wore when she was 8, even though she was given 2 different patterns by Pedomaru during TFA. Sunrise are the ones with the twisted and perverted logic. They didn’t “wait till she grew up.” They waited till she had her fucking period, and decided to turn a beloved character into a pedophile.

Fans choosing to call this shit out isn’t “stupid logic”. You’re just a fucking idiot for turning a blind eye to it.
