Enemies to Lovers Masterpost

How to write Enemies to lovers?

Figure out what makes the characters enemies, how to write their troubled relationship without them being damaged beyond repair. Then learn how to slowly fix it, to make them ready to be lovers.

Dialogue Prompts

“Well. well, well. Look who came to their enemy’s door holding presents.” “Oh cut it, I’m here to pick you up for our date.”

“I’m scared that it could end badly if it doesn’t work out.” “You’re already enemies. How worse could it get?”

“Why did you save me?” “Just because I’m the bad guy doesn’t mean I’m a bad guy.”

“I can’t tell them. They would make fun of me! We used to hate each other!” “Used to - that’s the important part.”

“I can’t really remember what we were fighting about all this time.”

“That guy is not good for you. Hell, even I would be better for you and I’m your enemy.”

“No one will believe us when we turn up together.” “You know I love to shock people, so this will be great.”

“This seems like such a bad decision, but I just can’t help it.”

“You like me?” “I know, it’s hard to believe, I can’t really believe it myself.”

“I tried to deny it for so long, but I don’t want to anymore.”

“You already know the worst about me and I about you. If we can get over our past, we could have a good future.”

Oblivious Enemies to Lovers Prompts

Scenario Prompts - Given up their life for each other

They’ve never been friends – some would even call them enemies – but some things you wouldn’t wish on anyone and seeing Person A so hopeless, Person B knew they had to step in.

Person B usually quite enjoyed their fights with Person A. But Person A appears to have lost their drive for the last few weeks and Person B needs to investigate and solve the problem to get everything back to normal.

When they found Person A like this, they knew that they could just walk away and it was one enemy less. But Person B could never be heartless enough to disregard the value of a human life like that.

Person A would have thought that Person B would love to see them like this. They never would have thought that Person B would come to their aid and give them something to live for.

Scenario Prompts - Falling for the biggest flirt

Person A is always at their house and being very annoying with their flirty behaviour - and Person B simultaneously doesn’t want to go home and can’t wait for school to finally end.

They used to have a routine where they would avoid each other or only exchange snarky comments if they had to meet. But suddenly Person A seems eager to change their routine. Now hardly a day goes by without Person B being bombarded by compliments and it’s… weird.

Person B is sure that Person A knows how much Person B hates their constant flirt attempts and therefore does it even more. Person B definitely knows that it’s just to annoy them.

Person A has been Person B’s sister’s best friend since Kindergarten and is basically part of the family by now. Them and Person B’s relationship has also been rocky since Kindergarten. It began as jealousy for the sister’s attention, but it turns to awkwardness when they become teenagers.

Person A is a natural flirt, so there is definitely nothing behind all their sweet smiles and the weird compliments they keep giving Person B.

Special Forms of Enemies to Lovers

Coworkers - Hating each other and then falling in love (x, x)

Thanks to the pandemic, there are only two people at the same time allowed in the office - and for some reason the two people who can’t be trusted alone with each other always come on the same day

They may not like each other but their boss will have their heads if they don’t work well together on this project

The pandemic forces them to communicate via zoom calls and one of them keeps making fun of the stuff you can see in the others background

5 times someone refers to them as “work husband/wife” and 1 time they leave out the “work” part

They worked at different branches and only ever talked on the phone with each other, but now one of them gets transfered

Not liking each other does not mean they would let the other one embarrass themself in front of their boss

The company was nice enough to book two beds at the hotel they stay in for a conference - but why are the beds in the same room?

Person A and Person B share a desk and switch between the office and working from home, so they are never there at the same time. They both get frustrated with how the other one organizes the shared space and tell each other that through notes.

Person A gets annoyed by the decisions a new co-worker from another department keeps making and they can’t wait to finally meet them and tell them what they think about them. They didn’t expect Person B to look… like this.

The Employer of the Month is getting a dinner for two paid for and Person A and Person B are fighting each other tooth and nail for it. Then Person C wins and gives them the dinner so they can sort out their feud.

Person A and Person B argue about everything, but in the end they are the best team to get the job done.

Students - Polar opposites learning to appreciate each other

Their friends set them up together, but Person A is constantly showing off his money and Person B is really not impressed.

Person B goes to a frat party with her friends and Person A acts like he owns the place and Person B just wants to have a good time.

They have to do an assignment together and Person B has a million ideas and wants to start ASAP, but Person A keeps bringing up plans and reasons for not being able to meet and work on it.

It’s finals week and the normally bubbly and happy Person B can’t keep her cool anymore, because Person A keeps taking loud phone calls in the middle of the library.

Person A’s parents threaten to cut him off if his grades don’t go up, so he demands tutoring from Person B, because she is one of the best in the class and he realized early that she loves to help other people, so he takes advantage of that.

Drama Club Enemies to Lovers

always arguing to the point where the drama teacher tells them to be quiet while all the other cast members perform the scenes around them, while they are just standing there staring angrily at each other

trying to get out of rehearsing together, so in the end they do all the scenes with the other characters perfectly, but are super nervous and awkward in the scenes between each other

meeting with a group of other cast members to learn their text, but one day they are the only two who show up

having to work on their costumes together, so that they match and look good together on stage

their parents are really excited about their play and want a lot of pictures of the “perfect couple” together

realizing that after spending so much time together, they just flow together naturally and don’t want it to end with the play
