It's based on the short story "The Minotaur" by Bill Kte'pi which is ALSO really good and unsetteling in a way that made me nostalgic for my teenage years reading any sci-fi short stories I could get my grubby little hands on

when I was five my parents took me to a corn maze

At one point, they couldnt find me, and after a while of searching it turned into a whole Thing- firefighters were called, people went to see if I had walked to the nearby train station or taken a train home, lots of people were called. They even got a helicopter circling up above looking for a little lost child. Eventually, they got all the firefighters to line up in a row to start walking through the corn field.

They got about a meter until I came running out. The police seperated me from everyone and asked what had happened and I told them I had fallen asleep and when the helicoptor woke me up I stayed hidden because I thought something bad was happening to cause all that noise.

So everyone was super happy because the lost child was found and nothing bad happened!

BUT IN TRUTH I had been awake the whole time they were looking for me, I just didn't want to come out because I had been told off by someone's mother for breaking the stem off a pumpkin and I was Sulking

I feel bad for people who’ve never experienced a corn maze bc it’s not even fun but you just have to do it

I didn't really understand how much a a Thing beauty stands are until someone looks at a picture of a GORGEOUS WOMAN and is like "eh, she looks normal" and then also sees a picture of the most Basic Evil Horrible Politician and say "but she is beautiful"
