summary: when it’s time to say goodbye, you’re reluctant. might seem angsty but I swear it has a happy ending!

part two of this fic. series are my worst nightmare (I don’t do well with schedules) so this is the last part, I’m sorry!

[ this has appearance from all Peters so andrew!peter is mentioned as “your Peter” ]

“You can’t do this to him,” you said the moment the youngest Peter was out of earshot.

“It’s the only way,” Stephen replied, concentrating on healing the huge cuts in the sky. He had to do the incantations soon, but giving Peter enough time to say goodbye to Ned and MJ was the least he could do.

Least, but not enough. Not according to you.

I'll Be Okay (2/2) - Jason Todd x Reader

I'll Be Okay (2/2) - Jason Todd X Reader

Words: 5671 Pairing: Jason Todd x Reader, Bruce Wayne & Reader Featuring: Alfred Pennyworth Warnings: Mentions death, mentions revival, talk of grief, arguing, yelling, crime-fighting, guns Summary: After getting your best friend and boyfriend back, you have to keep it a secret. When the secret comes out, so do a lot of emotions. Author’s Note: Cali described this as "Domestic fluff before domestic catch these hands bruce" and I agree. Lots of domestic fluff with Jason and I am in love with it. If it's not clear Y/N and Bruce have a weird found family friend relationship, kinda like "I just got Y/N yesterday but if anything happened to them i would kill everyone in this room and myself." I love this fic with my whole heart.

DC / Bingo / Full Masterlist

Part 1

---

It was a little strange how you stopped wanting to track down and talk to Jason. But Bruce and Dick were okay with you randomly dropping it; it would probably save a lot of pain and heartbreak in the end. They wanted to believe that you talking to Jason would be good, but logically, they knew nothing would be different. After Dick heard and read the whole report from that fateful night, he lost a lot of hope that Jason was the same fifteen-year-old.

They just didn't know him like you do.

A few months had passed since Red Hood joined the Gotham scene, and in turn, a few months of you dropping finding Jason.

It was nearly four in the morning when you got back to your apartment after a busy night of helping Batman. You weren't expecting to be at the Manor that late, but some unexpected criminals broke out of Arkham, and you had to help Bruce navigate them all. Nearly had to call in backup, but thankfully you didn't. Bruce would have thrown a fit if you called Dick to Gotham.

"Jason, you here?" You called out once you shut and locked your apartment door.

"Just getting changed!" He yelled back from the bedroom. It was definitely an interesting situation, but you two were making it work. Jason had his own place near Crime Alley, but if he had the chance to be with you, he wasn't going to miss it. He was spending most nights and days at your apartment whenever you were home, save for a few days a week when both of you were too exhausted from life.

You liked it, though, having Jason with you most of the time. Once you fully caught back up and got through everything that happened over the five years, you two decided to make it work and date again. You kept telling yourself Bruce would never understand and never see it from your point of view; he'd only see Jason as a killer, so you agreed to keep it a secret.

"How was your night?" You asked as you walked into the bedroom.

Jason was just finishing throwing on a shirt. "Pretty slow, since most of Gotham was focused on Batman trying to maintain peace with all those breakouts. Heard some coincidentally ended up right in front of Arkham," Jason smirked.

You walked over to him and gave him a small kiss on his cheek. "Thanks for that. Saved me from having to call Dick and then getting scolded by Bruce for calling him."

"Anything to save you from a scolding," He chuckled. "Busy night for you, though, huh?"

Moving over to the dresser to change your clothes, you nodded. "Well, considering I was planning on being home two hours ago...yeah. Busy night."

Jason leaned against the side of the dresser you weren't using to watch as you changed your shirt into your pajama shirt. You wanted to stay up and talk with him, but you were exhausted from the busy night. "Bed already?" He asked.

"It's four. I'm going to bed," You declared. "We have a lot to go over when I'm back at the Cave since everything got postponed due to the breakouts."

You started to head towards your bed and get ready but were stopped when Jason slinked up behind you and wrapped his arms around your waist to hug you. "You could always tell him you're not feeling well; then you don't have to go to the Cave. We could take a day off," He suggested.

"Bruce would catch on way too fast," You rolled your eyes. "It's a good offer, though."

"You know, you used to tell me if I worked too much without a break, I was going to make myself sick," He said, releasing you from his arms and turning you around so he could look at you in your eyes. "Doesn't the same go for you?"

This time, you put your arms around his neck and shook your head. "That was when we were fifteen, going to school, and crime-fighting. Now we just do the crime-fighting, so less work overall."

"Fair point, but you should give yourself a break. From what it sounds like, you haven't had one in five years," He cocked his head to the side.

"Have you?" You asked, and when Jason looked down at his feet, you removed your hands and turned back to the bed. "Coming to bed?"

Jason shrugged and walked to his side of the bed. "I might as well," He said, giving in.

When your alarm went off at noon, both of you groaned and decided that you were going to lay in bed until you had to get up. You two just laid next to each other, enjoying the company, while you scrolled through your phones and chatted about meaningless things. At one point, Jason did get up to grab you both a snack, and you played some music, but after a while, you ended up falling back asleep.

You were super disoriented when your phone woke you up, ringing with a call. Quickly, you put the phone to your ear without even attempting to sit up, as Jason was also asleep and was partway on your chest. "Huh? Hi," You answered.

"Uh, are you okay?" Bruce asked from the other end of the call.

"Just dandy," You replied. "What's up?"

Bruce paused for a moment. "We were wondering where you were. You sure you're okay?"

By now, Jason had also woken up and was about to ask who you were talking to when you slapped your hand over his mouth to keep him quiet. Conveniently, your arm was under his neck and back, so it made it easy to keep him quiet. "I'm fine, Bruce," You enunciated, so Jason knew who you were talking to. "Sorry, just a bit exhausted from last night. How late am I? I can leave in ten minutes," You started to scramble.

"No, no, it's okay," Bruce stopped you. "We had a busy night last night. You should take the night off, rest up," He said.

"Are you sure?" You asked, really hoping he was.

There was another pause, but this time you heard whispers. You weren't listening hard enough to decipher them, though. "Of course. Alfred and I can handle it tonight. Don't want you working too hard that you make yourself sick," He said, and you could nearly hear the smile from him on the phone. After you started saying it to Jason all those years ago, you kept using it against Bruce; and he hated it.

"Alright, I'll take it easy, then. But call if anything changes and you need my help," You reassured him, knowing that would be the last thing he would do after telling you to take the night off.

"I won't," Bruce said. "Goodnight," He finished, and once you repeated it, he hung up the phone.

Relaxing, you tossed the phone behind your head onto the top half of your pillow. You sighed with relief, which was short-lived because Jason licked your hand to get you to let go of him. "Gross, Jay!" You squealed and pulled your arm out from under him, sitting up to berate him.

"That was your fault. Once you said his name you should've known I wouldn't say anything," He joked as he propped himself up on his elbows. "He'd lose it if he knew I was here."

"Probably, but let's not think about it. I get the night off just like you wanted," You said.

Jason smiled and turned his head to look at you. "Perfect. See, things always work out."

You didn't reply but picked your phone back up once more to order some food since all you both had to eat today was some snacks. Well, since Bruce insisted you have the night off, he shouldn't be suspicious at all, right?

---

Bruce wouldn't have been suspicious if you had only taken that one night off. But when one night turned into two and then into three, with no notice and hardly any responses, he got nervous. The second day, when you were also late, he texted you to ask if you were coming. When he only got a four-word explanation back (I have a cold), he told you to take that night off, too.

The third day he didn't hear from you, and when he texted to make sure you were okay, you didn't respond. He gave you some time, and Alfred reached out next, but he got nothing back either. Bruce tracked you, and it showed you were still at home, so he assumed that you just weren't feeling well. He'd send Alfred over in the morning to bring you some remedies.

When the morning came, however, Bruce felt weird. He and Alfred both tried to call you to ask if you needed anything past what they planned on bringing, and when you ignored both their calls, Bruce even had Dick try a few times. It was strange; you had never ignored all of their calls entirely. Even when you were mad about Bruce not helping you find Jason you didn't ignore him. So on the fourth day, when there was no response, Bruce was worried.

He told Alfred he wanted to take you the medicine and soup, mainly because he wanted to check on you. If you were sicker than he thought, he would be able to take you to the hospital, and if you were fine and just out of it, he would have peace of mind. Though Alfred ensured he could do it, Bruce was adamant.

Bruce got to your apartment and confirmed that the car you always drove from the Manor was in the parking lot, and there weren't a lot of spots filled this early in the morning. It was lucky, because then he was able to make his way to your apartment without anyone seeing him and questioning what Bruce Wayne was doing there.

Stopping in front of your apartment door, he knocked and called your name. "It's Bruce," He announced, but didn't get any response about you coming to the door. He waited and knocked again, but there was still no response. He pulled out his keyring in his pocket that Alfred gave him when he left. "What?" He mumbled to himself when he heard a deep voice come from inside your apartment. He flipped through the keys faster, finding the one with your name on it, and opened the door as fast as he could.

Once the door opened, Bruce looked around to find you. He looked left to the kitchen, and then to the right-

To where you were sitting on the couch, your hands around someone, kissing them.

Bruce looked down at his feet, then shut the door harder than he meant to, causing the two of you to jump and look to where the noise came from. "Holy shit, Bruce, you scared the hell out of me!" You looked over Jason's shoulder to where he was standing, and Bruce was slowly looking up from the floor.

Jason made the mistake of making eye contact with Bruce, and Bruce sighed loudly. "Well, now I know why you dropped trying to find Jason," He said, then held the bag up before setting it on the nearby table. "Alfred made you some soup, but it doesn't look like you're as sick as we thought," He said, turned on his heels, and headed out of the apartment, slamming the door louder than the first time.

"Shit," You muttered and got off the couch, running after him. "Bruce, I can explain!" You called down the hallway as Bruce was walking away.

Bruce turned back around immediately. "What is there to explain? I think it's pretty clear," He said, keeping his tone low to not sound as angry as he was.

"I couldn't tell you that Jason was here. You would have flipped," You said, just above a whisper.

"I would have rather known than to walk in on it," He crossed his arms, walking back towards you, so you guys weren't down the hallway from each other. "How could you? That is not the same Jason we lost five years ago!" Bruce pointed at your closed door.

You took a deep breath. "Yes, he is," You tried to argue.

"He has been hurting people! He can't come back from that!" Bruce shouted.

"We've been working on it," You told him, still trying to remain calm. "Finding other solutions, working together. Hell, he helped with the Arkham breakout, and you didn't even know it," You scoffed.

Bruce threw his hands up. "But you did! And you didn't say anything!"

"Because every time I get you back up, you get mad at me!" You yelled back. "We've been working together for five years, and you still act like you can't trust me! You didn't want to tell me any details about Jason's case; I had to find it all out from reading your report- which you password locked!"

"How could I trust you after you go behind my back and have him living with you?" Bruce asked, still loud, but not shouting this time.

You stepped back and stared at him for a moment. Once you opened your mouth, you dropped your tone and spoke calmly again, if not for the shaking that came out in your words. "If you trusted me like a partner, I would have felt comfortable telling you. This," You gestured to his body, talking about his reaction, "Is the entire reason I didn't tell you."

Bruce was going to respond but stopped when he saw your door creak open. Jason looked slowly between you and Bruce, trying to judge the situation. "Guys, I think-"

"No, you don't get a say in this. This is your fault," Bruce cut him off and stopped to take a deep breath. "You know what, you're right," He turned back to you. "You don't think we're partners, fine; we're not. You don't have any reason to come back to the Manor anymore," Bruce said and turned before either of you could respond. You tried to get him to stop, to let you say anything else, but he didn't listen. He walked right out of the building and into his car, only looking back for a second. If he were any pettier, he would have taken the car back that he gave you, but even though he was mad, he couldn't do that. Not yet, at least.

It hurt him to drive away after having an argument with you. He cares about you the same way he did Jason, and it sucked to leave on these terms. But he was angry, and he had hundreds of reasons to be. He was sure Alfred would try to talk him down once he got back, but he didn't care right now.

You should've chased after Bruce and apologized. He's one of your greatest friends and has cared for you during the five-year grieving period, but you couldn't lie about being angry. All these built-up emotions since finding out Jason is alive finally blew up on you. Instead of trying to convince Bruce, you just turned around and fell into Jason's arms, crying into his shirt.

Slowly, Jason managed to get you back inside the apartment. He brought you over to the bed and let you cry it out. "How much did you hear?" You asked once you caught your breath.

"Honestly, most of it. You guys were pretty loud, which is why I came to stop you when you kept talking about Batman stuff. You know, neighbors," Jason rambled. "Are you okay?"

You tried to keep your breathing steady, still teary and having trouble thinking straight. "That's the first time I've blown up on him. I didn't even know I felt like some of those things until I said it," You confessed.

"Well, hey, that's good. Getting it out helps," He encouraged. "Trust me, I know, and I know a thing or two about being angry." You didn't reply, not thinking you needed to in this instance. "He'll come around. He's just mad that you're with me and I've killed people."

"Partially. He's also mad because I didn't tell him," You added.

"What would have happened if you did? You guys would've still fought, just earlier, right?" Jason asked.

You shrugged. Jason was right with that; there still would've been an argument. Maybe not as explosive as this one was, but it wouldn't have been entirely civil, either.

By now, after all the yelling and crying, you were back to being tired and laid down in the bed, Jason still watching you as he sat by your side. "Do you want some of that soup?" He asked, and you nodded slowly. "I'll go heat some up," He offered and walked out of the bedroom.

You sat with your thoughts for a minute but decided that wasn't the smartest idea, so you grabbed your phone from your pocket to look through. Before you could even open it, you got distracted by a text.

Dick: What the hell happened?

---

Both you and Bruce were too stubborn to apologize, or hell, even talk about the argument. Alfred did reach out to you a few days after the initial fight to make sure you were feeling better, and he checked on you once a week, but he knew it was weird. You did tell Dick the whole story a few days after it happened so that he was filled in because you knew Bruce would have only told him you guys fought. Dick decided he would remain unbiased because he didn't want to have to choose between either of you, but he did remind you that he's also had some nasty fights with Bruce. You both would get over it eventually.

But now, it's been a month, and neither of you are relenting. You know Bruce can go way longer than you, but you were still upset. You replaced your nights in the Cave with talking to Jason some nights, but he had so much going on that it was difficult. At least at the Cave you could talk to Alfred and watch Bruce's tracker and nearby cameras, but with Jason, it wasn't the same. You truly were helping him find other ways to take care of things instead of being lethal, though, which you hoped would help when you finally got around to confronting Bruce.

Jason got home earlier than he planned and saw you moping as you typed away on your computer, trying to fill your mind. "Hey, how are you doing?" He asked, pulling your thoughts away from your focus.

You looked up at him still in his Red Hood armor and shrugged. "Same as I've been for a month," You said. You tried to talk to Dick a few times, seeing if he knew if Bruce had said anything, but Dick refused to be a middle-man messenger. He knows the fights suck, but you have to get through it yourself.

Jason shut your laptop and sat on the couch next to you. "Just because Bruce and I don't get along right now doesn't mean you can't," Jason said, and when you cocked an eyebrow in confusion, he elaborated. "I know he's your friend. I'd be crazy if I tried to restrict you from having friends," He laughed, then continued. "What I'm saying is, maybe now that there's been some time, you can go to the Manor and try to talk with him?" He said but ended it in a question.

Again, you shrugged. "I know you're not stopping me from having friends. Trust me; if you did that, you'd have another thing coming," You said. "But Jay, I don't know. I'm afraid if I go, we'll fight again."

"It's no secret that Bruce and I fought before I died, but we got over them. Mostly," He said, not helping much there. "Dick's the same way, they fought a lot, and they are back to working together. But you know Bruce, he isn't going to be the one to admit it first."

He was right, and it drove you crazy. Bruce wasn't going to do anything until you did; that man can hold a grudge longer than anyone you know. You turned your head to check the time, and you figured it was still early enough that it was likely Bruce would still be doing his nighttime activities. "Are you sure it's a good idea?" You asked.

"Considering I have a lot of bad ideas, I do think this one is good. I know you guys bonded over my death, and you're pretty good friends now. The worst he can do is not talk to you, right?" Jason kept trying to help, and he wasn't sure if he was. But anything was better than saying nothing at this point.

"That or we start yelling again," You said.

Jason shook his head. "I don't think Alfred would let that happen. Hell, if you go now, you might make it before Bruce even returns so you can talk to Alfred beforehand."

"I guess so," You thought for a minute. "Fine, but I'm going now before I change my mind," You declared and stood up, heading to the bedroom to put on some real pants. "Will you come with me?" You asked.

"You think that would be smart? I think it would only make him madder," Jason replied.

"You can stay in the car. He doesn't even have to know you're there," You promised.

Jason shook his head. "He'll know."

"Please, Jay?" You widened your eyes to beg.

Jason got up, and once he was in front of you, he snuck a small kiss on your cheek. "I think this is something you have to do alone. If I'm there, it will become another conversation about me instead of you two apologizing," He said. "I know you, you can do this," He promised and walked into the bedroom so he could change, too.

You took a deep breath and nodded, accepting that you were going to do this alone. As soon as you got changed, Jason walked you to the car and reassured you everything would be fine. When he got back inside your apartment, he knew he wasn't done with his Red Hood duties for the night, even if he made you believe that.

Once you pulled into the Manor, you input your code at the gate and were a bit surprised it was still active. But when you thought about it more, it made sense; they wouldn't disable that after one fight. At least Alfred wouldn't. When you put your car in park, you did give Alfred a call to let him know you were there, and he rushed up to greet you at the front door.

"I'm so pleased to see you," Alfred smiled when he opened the door. "I was hoping you would show up soon."

"It's good to see you too, Alfred," You nodded at him, nervous even though you shouldn't be.

Alfred gestured for you to come inside. "Well, come in," He said and let you walk in front of him. "Master Bruce is still out, so we should head downstairs in case he needs my assistance," Alfred said and led you to the all too familiar Batcave entrance. When Alfred confirmed nothing had changed on the computer, he turned back to talk to you. "I know it's only been a month, but how are you?" He asked.

You shrugged. "I'm okay. I'm still upset by the argument, but I think it's important that we talk about it," You told him.

Alfred nodded. "And how is Master Jason, if you don't mind me asking?"

"I tried to convince him to come tonight, actually," You said. "But he didn't think it was a good idea. He's doing really good; I think us being together again has helped both of us more than we've realized."

"I'm glad to hear it. I know how close you two were all those years ago; I'm happy you still have that," Alfred said. You knew Alfred would love to see Jason, but he was probably right; it wasn't the best idea for him to come here. Not yet, at least. Maybe sometime soon he'd be able to so the two of them could catch up.

You were about to ask Alfred how things have been going here, but just as you started, Bruce's voice came through the computer, asking him for some assistance. "I'm here, sir; what do you need?" Alfred answered, pushing the chair out of the way to listen to Bruce.

Bruce explained that he walked in on a goon meeting that consisted of Freeze, Two-Face, and Riddler goons. He needed an overhead count of how many were in the area so he wouldn't lose track of them; he wanted to know what these three groups had in common and what they were going to do.

"Right away," Alfred said. You watched as Alfred seemed to struggle with getting what Bruce was asking for, and you slowly walked up to the computer to see if you could provide some direction while not speaking to not give yourself away. "Can you help?" Alfred asked.

You nodded, and Alfred quickly stepped out of the way so you could get Bruce his answer as fast as possible. "B," You started. "There twenty-three total. However, there's a group of five running out the North door holding a large bag while the others distract you," You directed him.

Bruce took off to where you said, and as he was running, he realized who was talking to him. "What are you doing here?" He grumbled.

"That's not important right now. They took a left out the door and went down the street. Two Riddler and three Freeze goons," You said.

He grunted in reply, following your directions. Alfred smiled as he stood back and watched. Truthfully, he could have figured it out and got the answers Bruce needed, but he figured throwing you two right back in to work together would have the best outcome. You switched between the cameras outside of where Bruce was, making sure you were watching where the goons were running to. They bolted as soon as they heard Batman, with the weird bag, so there had to be something important in it.

The goons tried to take shortcuts to lose Batman, but you were watching. They kept yelling when they realized Batman was still behind them, not understanding how he was able to keep up. Finally, after all their weaving failed, they ended up in a dead-end of the alleyway, three of them holding onto the bag and looking for a way out.

Batman rounded the corner into the dead end and threw some batarangs to pin the goon's clothing to the alley wall, making sure they wouldn't get away or in the way. Bruce looked at them, trying to wear them down before even saying anything. "What was the meeting about?" He asked. All of the goons said something to the effect of they would never tell him, and finally, Bruce looked down at the bag. "Something must've been very important," He muttered and knelt down to open the bag, but before he could, someone shot at him.

He covered himself with his cape, but in all the commotion, both Riddler goons ripped their clothes just enough so they could get out of the batarangs, grab the bag, and make a run for it.

"Yeah, I don't think so," A new voice told them, and you sighed loudly when you realized who it was. "I want to know what's in the bag; the suspense is killing me," Red Hood held his gun in front of him, aiming at both the goons. "Oh, and if the other goons shoot at me, I won't hold back on these two," Red Hood warned, and all the shots near Batman stopped.

You knew this would make it more difficult. Jason told you to do this alone; why is he showing up now? Wasn't he done for the night? How did he know where Batman was? Alfred looked at you in confusion when you groaned at Jason's arrival, but you didn't elaborate. You watched as Red Hood kicked both Riddler goons back and snatched the bag. He opened it, looked disappointed, and turned his head back to the goons. "Well, that's disappointing. Bats, I think they tried to play us," He announced.

You watched as Batman walked over to Red Hood and confirmed that the bag was empty. When he did, he turned back to the Riddler goons. "What was the point of this?" Batman boomed.

The Riddler goons didn't say anything, just cowered. After a minute, one of Freeze's goons, still stuck to the wall, yelled out. "We were bored!" He said. Neither Bruce nor Jason believed it, but it was clear this would take longer than either of them wanted it to. Batman turned to Red Hood and muttered a few things, which were too muffled for you or Alfred to hear, and the Freeze goons took this as an excuse to free themselves from the wall.

"Good try!" Red Hood yelled and threw something, and it blew up in the middle of the three goons. Batman frowned as he looked back to Red Hood, clearly displeased as he saw the three lying on the ground. When the smoke engulfed the area, the Riddler goons tried to run around Batman and Red Hood, but they didn't get far before Jason's gun went off.

"Red Hood!" Batman shouted, not wanting to deal with Jason killing more people.

You could nearly hear Jason's eye roll. "Relax, Batman," Jason said and held his gun straight up. "They're not dead," He continued, but Batman wasn't getting it. Jason gave his gun a little bit of a shake to make his point. "Rubber bullets. We've been working on it."

Batman didn't reply, just huffed as he looked around at all five goons, none dead. "I can take care of them; I think you have someplace to be," Red Hood told him.

Bruce knew what he meant, and after some deliberation with himself, he agreed to let Red Hood take care of it. He turned his head as he got ready to grapple himself out of the alleyway, but spoke first. "I'm on my way back to the Cave."

Bruce cut off the comms before you could respond, and you turned around to Alfred with an exasperated look. "What's that for?" He questioned you, pushing the chair back over so you could take a seat.

"I asked Jason to come with me, and he said no. But somehow he was at the same place Bruce was. Part of me is starting to think he planned this," You said.

Alfred shrugged. "I would be impressed. Though, I already am. Rubber bullets?" He asked.

"I told you guys we were working on it. And the thing he threw was just a smoke bomb that makes you tired, so the Freeze goons are happily asleep," You explained, and Alfred raised his eyebrow. "What? I've learned a thing or two working with Batman for five years."

"I think Master Bruce will be pleased with how you've been helping Master Jason," Alfred said, walked over to you, and pat your shoulder.

There wasn't much time between Bruce telling you he was on his way and returning. You were worried it was out of anger of you showing up at the Manor, but you also hoped it was happiness that you were helping him out. The Batmobile stopped, and Bruce jumped out, making his way over to where you and Alfred sat at the computer. When he made it over, he pulled his cowl down. His expression was hard to read, so you awkwardly put up a hand as you slumped in his chair and waved. "Hi, Bruce. I'm sorry-"

"You really have been working with Jason," He observed.

You sat up so your posture was better. "Yes. It's not perfect, but we're getting there. At least he's not cutting heads of drug dealers anymore and using non-lethal solutions most of the time," You defended Jason and your decision to him.

Bruce nodded, and you could have sworn you saw one side of his lip prick up into a small smile, but he started talking before you could confirm. "I shouldn't be surprised. He always listened to you and wanted to make you happy even when you were young teenagers," Bruce said.

You laughed slightly at that assumption. "Yeah, I guess so. Look, B, I'm sorry for blowing up on you. I guess a lot had happened, and it wasn't totally fair of me to say all that when you've helped me so much since his death," You apologized.

"No, it was. I didn't know you felt like that. Like I don't value you as a partner," Bruce admitted. "I guess I'm not very good at showing my appreciation."

"Maybe we both have things to work on, then," You offered. "I'd love to come back and work with you, as a partner. But you do have to know that I help Jason too when he needs it."

Bruce looked at Alfred, who you couldn't see because he moved out of the way and was now behind you. Once he looked back down, he did smile this time. "I think that would be great," He said. "I'm sorry for yelling, too. I should have realized the relationship you had with him before he died, and I know now that it's not changed," Bruce apologized this time.

You stood up and gave Bruce a hug, which shocked him. "I forgive you," You said, not letting go for a moment.

And Bruce hugged you back.

DO NOT DO THIS.

DO NOT DO THIS.

This makes me so angry.

If you work in a movie theater and you do this I have no respect for you.

My younger brother is Type 1 Diabetic.

When we go to a movie theater, we always get him diet soda. If he were to get regular when we asked for diet, we would not give him the insulin he would need for it. If that happens, his blood sugar level could go so high he could go into a coma, go blind, or even die.

If somebody gave him regular soda instead of diet without telling us, that person could be responsible for a nine-year-old being killed or blinded.

Just thinking about that makes me so angry. I get scared every time we take him to a movie in case the people working there saw this picture and decide to do the same thing.

Please signal boost this so people know.

"It's not a big deal, right?" you panicked, hands shaking around the quill gripped between your fingers. "Like, he's going to say yes, right?"

Sirius rolled his eyes. "Unless I've been reading your relationship wrong for the past three years, Moony's going to say yes. I don't think he can resist anything from you."

You really didn't know why you were freaking out. You usually didn't act like this, especially not in regards to Remus. You were always confident in your relationship with him; you had been dating for three years like Sirius pointed out, after all. But there was part of you — a hidden, vulnerable part — that ached for his approval, that wanted to impress him and always make him feel good. Maybe it was just love, you thought, for you had never felt this way around anyone else before.

But whatever the reason for it was, you needed to get your shit together. The Yule Ball was next week and you still hadn't asked your boyfriend. You knew he had been asked by a couple of girls to which he politely declined, saying he was going with his boyfriend.

Yeah, some boyfriend I am, you chastised yourself. Haven't even asked Remus to the Ball yet. What the hell is wrong with me?

"Breathe, mate," Sirius said, interrupting your spiraling thoughts with a somewhat concerned look. "You look like you're going to faint or something."

"Why are you so nervous?" Peter asked in a small voice. "I thought you loved Moony?"

"I do," you answered quickly. "I don't know why I'm so nervous, either. Think the house-elves put something in tonight's dessert?"

"Unlikely." Sirius set his elbows on the common room table before him and started braiding his hair idly. "Honestly, though? I just think you need to grow some balls and ask him already. If you wait any longer, he might go out with Snivellus," Sirius added jokingly.

The thought of your beloved Remus Lupin slow dancing with that mangy-looking rat-faced creep Severus was enough to petrify you.

"You're right," you said abruptly, standing up from the table and discarding the quill and parchment which you had been trying to use to write an invitation letter to your boyfriend. "I need to find Moony."

"Quidditch pitch," Peter told you. "He's helping Prongs practice for the game on Saturday."

***

When you approached the empty Quidditch pitch, you saw only one person flying on a broomstick in the air. Remus was on the ground sitting cross-legged in the grass and gazing up at his friend in disinterest.

"Hey, pretty boy," you greeted as you settled next to Remus in the grass. "Whatcha doing?"

A wide grin broke out on your boyfriend's face, eyes lighting up as if it were Christmas morning. "Godric, I'm glad you're here. Prongs asked me to help him practice for the game, but all I ended up doing was sitting watching him frolic around on that godforsaken broom of his."

You chuckled. "Sounds like you've been quite busy."

Remus smiled. "Yeah, for sure."

You grabbed his hand and kissed the inside of his wrist tenderly, something that you knew made Remus weak. Sure enough, when you looked up at him, he was blushing hard just like he had done on your first date with him three years ago.

"What's up?" Remus asked bashfully.

You laced your fingers with his and gazed up at the slightly cloudy sky. You could feel Remus' anticipating eyes on you — he'd probably been waiting for this moment for a while.

"Oh, nothing. I was just wondering something."

"Yeah?" Remus tried to control the eagerness in his voice. Even after a few years of dating you, he still got giddy every time you asked him to the Yule Ball.

You looked at your boyfriend slyly. "I was thinking, Moony..."

Remus bit his lip and waited, the silence growing thick with expectation.

"Could you lend me your notes for the Transfiguration exam?"

Remus blinked. You glanced at him and saw that he looked absolutely crestfallen, the gleam in his eyes fading out like dying embers.

"Oh," he said plainly as he tried to hide the disappointment in his voice. "Uh, yeah, sure."

"Thanks."

There was a weird silence between the two of you. Remus cleared his throat a little awkwardly. "Is there, uh, anything else you wanted to ask me?"

"Hm? Oh, yeah, there might've been one other thing..."

You pretended to think about what you were going to say next, loving the fact that you had Remus hanging on to your every word. It was fun to tease him every now and again, and he would be lying if he said he didn't like it.

"Oh, that's right!" you exclaimed, looking at your boyfriend. "I was gonna ask if you wanted to be my date to the Yule Ball."

Remus breathed a sigh of relief and shoved you playfully. "Don't fucking tease me like that, y/n. I was about to think you had asked someone else 'cause you took so long to ask me."

"I would never do that to you, love," you told him sincerely. "So, do you wanna go or not?"

"Obviously," he said with an uncontrollable smile. "I can't resist anything from you. Why'd you take so long?"

"I don't know," you confessed, looking down. "I just — I just wanted it to be perfect, you know? I mean, you're the most important thing in my life, Remus. I guess I was just afraid I would screw it up so I waited until last minute." You looked back up at your boyfriend and saw that he was wearing a warm smile. "Sorry I kept you waiting."

"Don't be sorry," he said, brushing your hair out of your eyes. "In my eyes, y/n, you can do no wrong. I wouldn't have cared how you did it, as long as I get to spend the Yule Ball with you."

A heavy weight lifted off your shoulders. "I love you," you sighed.

"I love you, too," Remus replied just as lovingly. You pulled him in for a kiss, but your lips had hardly touched his before there came a strong breeze and the sound of footsteps as James landed his broomstick and approached you both.

"Y/n," he greeted with a lopsided smile, "when'd you get here?"

"Not long ago," you replied, pulling away from Remus who was trying to hide his blush. "I was just in the middle of asking Moony to the Yule Ball."

"Fucking finally!" exclaimed James. "We were all wondering what you would do to ask out Moony this time. Remember last year when you set off fireworks in the middle of Potions and asked him out right in front of everyone? That was awesome." James set his broomstick on the ground and sat in a circle with you and Remus. "So, what'd you do this time? Roses? Chocolate frogs?"

You shook your head. "None of that, Prongs. Today I went old-school and asked out Moony right here."

"Just words?" James seemed perplexed. "That's it?"

Remus held up his hand. "Hey, now, what do you mean 'just words'? At least I've got a date to the Yule Ball. Unlike somebody..."

James' ears turned pink. "I'm working on it," he said defensively. "I'm almost a hundred-percent sure Lily's going to say yes. I just, um, have to ask her first."

Remus clapped his fellow Marauder on the back. "We believe in you, mate."

James scowled. "Don't patronize me."

***

The Yule Ball was as glorious as always.

Festooned with garland, tinsel, and falling snow, the Great Hall looked like a picture right out of a storybook: magical and positively romantic.

Remus was dressed in his finest attire, black velvet dress robes with a high collar and a black bowtie to match. You had selected the robes you'd worn last year, which were formal and very classy.

As your boyfriend descended the stairs gingerly, all you could think about was how fucking lucky you were to call Remus John Lupin your one and only. How you had managed to capture the attention of such a kind, clever, and extremely handsome boy like him. You hadn't realized you were staring until Remus approached you, looked up at you with eyes like lively Christmas lights, and said, "Hey."

"Hey, pretty boy," you said, focusing your eyes on the well-dressed boy before you. "You look fucking incredible."

Remus, who was always a sucker for your praise, turned pink. "Th-thanks. And you look —" He searched for the right word but ended up stuttering out "good" like an idiot.

You just smiled in good nature at his sheepishness and pulled him close. The noise of students chattering and the light orchestral music faded to the background, and all that seemed to exist were you and Remus, together in the middle of the dance floor. You took your boyfriend's face in your hands, bent down a bit to accommodate to his shorter stature, and kissed his soft, warm lips firmly.

Remus responded immediately and kissed you back as if it were second-nature to him. And even after kissing you so many times — thousands, maybe, in all the years you'd been dating — Remus couldn't deny the addictive electricity that coursed between you whenever you kissed him. Not caring that you were in public, Remus reached up to brush the pad of his thumb over the edge of your jawline and molded his lips to yours. It was like you were in a fairytale, like in those movies where the couple finally kisses at the end and the screen fades to black.

But this was not the end of the night. No, this was just the beginning.

You pulled away and brushed Remus' bottom lip with your thumb, admiring the way they were just slightly puffy from the kiss. Remus had the most beautiful lips in the world. You would kiss them all day if he'd let you.

After having a few goblets of drink and making a few jokes, the actual dancing started. Couples took to the center of the Great Hall while a smooth, lively tune was played by the orchestra. Hands on hips, arms around necks, hands holding hands — you couldn't wait to get out there with Remus.

"Come on, my love," you said, lacing your fingers together and leading him in the direction of the swaying couples. "I saved the first dance for you."

You placed your hands on Remus' hips and he stretched up to wrap his arms around your neck. The height difference between the two of you was something Remus loved more than anything because it made him feel safe and secure. Being in your arms, protected by you. And you, of course, thought Remus' being shorter than you was the cutest thing in the world, not to mention the fact that it made cuddling with him so nice. When your boyfriend was nestled in your arms, that was when you felt the most connected with him like you and he were made for each other.

Gracefully, you and Remus danced to the music echoing throughout the Great Hall. You and he were so close you could see the swirls of honey-gold in Remus' irises, which were alight with the energy of the night.

Suddenly, a thought occurred to you, and before you could activate a filter on your brain, you said, "Thanks for choosing to come with me instead of Severus."

Remus' eyes bulged and he gave a short little laugh. "You're welcome? I think? Why would I go out with Severus Snape instead of you?"

You felt kind of stupid and explained to him the comment Sirius made when you were in the common room with him and Peter trying to write a letter asking Remus to the Ball.

"That Padfoot," Remus said as if swearing. "When I see him next I swear to Godric I'm going to —"

The music then changed to a slower tempo, and the couples began talking idly over the sound of the instruments.

"Anyway." Remus cleared his throat. "You don't have to thank me for going with you. I mean, there's no one else I would have as my date than you."

You smiled at his comment. "You're cute," you told him. "And I feel the same way about you. But do you wanna know what the best thing about tonight is?"

"What's that?" Remus wanted to know.

You smirked. "We're easily the best-looking couple in this room right now."

Remus, not expecting that, laughed out loud which caused some dancers to look in your direction with mystification.

You laughed along with him. "Am I wrong, though?"

"No," wheezed Remus, "you're absolutely right."

A comfortable silence settled between the two of you as you finished your dance and made your way to the table to rest. You sipped on a drink and admired the outfits of all the attendees with Remus, commenting on the clashing colors of James' robes while he begged Lily for a dance.

"You know," Remus wondered aloud after downing the rest of his pumpkin juice, "I wonder if there'll be any gay couples to take our place here after we graduate."

You thought about this and considered the fact that there were probably more closeted people at Hogwarts than anyone could imagine. There's bound to be some people brave enough to come out and make their relationship public.

"One day," you said wistfully, gazing up at the ceiling of the Great Hall which was dark and stuffed with snow clouds. "One day, there will be someone brave enough to come out. And once they do, it's gonna be revolutionary."

THROUGH A RAPIST’S EYES” (PLS TAKE TIME TO READ THIS. It may save a life, It may save your life.)

An Article from Neena Susan Thomas

“Through a rapist’s eyes. A group of rapists and date rapists in prison were interview
ed on what they look for in a potential victim and here are some interesting facts:

1] The first thing men look for in a potential victim is hairstyle. They are most likely to go after a woman with a ponytail, bun! , braid, or other hairstyle that can easily be grabbed. They are also likely to go after a woman with long hair. Women with short hair are not common targets.

2] The second thing men look for is clothing. They will look for women who’s clothing is easy to remove quickly. Many of them carry scissors around to cut clothing.

3] They also look for women using their cell phone, searching through their purse or doing other activities while walking because they are off guard and can be easily overpowered.

4] The number one place women are abducted from / attacked at is grocery store parking lots.

5] Number two is office parking lots/garages.

6] Number three is public restrooms.

7] The thing about these men is that they are looking to grab a woman and quickly move her to a second location where they don’t have to worry about getting caught.

8] If you put up any kind of a fight at all, they get discouraged because it only takes a minute or two for them to realize that going after you isn’t worth it because it will be time-consuming.

9] These men said they would not pick on women who have umbrellas,or other similar objects that can be used from a distance, in their hands.

10] Keys are not a deterrent because you have to get really close to the attacker to use them as a weapon. So, the idea is to convince these guys you’re not worth it.

POINTS THAT WE SHOULD REMEMBER:

1] If someone is following behind you on a street or in a garage or with you in an elevator or stairwell, look them in the face and ask them a question, like what time is it, or make general small talk: can’t believe it is so cold out here, we’re in for a bad winter. Now that you’ve seen their faces and could identify them in a line- up, you lose appeal as a target.

2] If someone is coming toward you, hold out your hands in front of you and yell Stop or Stay back! Most of the rapists this man talked to said they’d leave a woman alone if she yelled or showed that she would not be afraid to fight back. Again, they are looking for an EASY target.

3] If you carry pepper spray (this instructor was a huge advocate of it and carries it with him wherever he goes,) yelling I HAVE PEPPER SPRAY and holding it out will be a deterrent.

4] If someone grabs you, you can’t beat them with strength but you can do it by outsmarting them. If you are grabbed around the waist from behind, pinch the attacker either under the arm between the elbow and armpit or in the upper inner thigh – HARD. One woman in a class this guy taught told him she used the underarm pinch on a guy who was trying to date rape her and was so upset she broke through the skin and tore out muscle strands the guy needed stitches. Try pinching yourself in those places as hard as you can stand it; it really hurts.

5] After the initial hit, always go for the groin. I know from a particularly unfortunate experience that if you slap a guy’s parts it is extremely painful. You might think that you’ll anger the guy and make him want to hurt you more, but the thing these rapists told our instructor is that they want a woman who will not cause him a lot of trouble. Start causing trouble, and he’s out of there.

6] When the guy puts his hands up to you, grab his first two fingers and bend them back as far as possible with as much pressure pushing down on them as possible. The instructor did it to me without using much pressure, and I ended up on my knees and both knuckles cracked audibly.

7] Of course the things we always hear still apply. Always be aware of your surroundings, take someone with you if you can and if you see any odd behavior, don’t dismiss it, go with your instincts. You may feel little silly at the time, but you’d feel much worse if the guy really was trouble.

FINALLY, PLEASE REMEMBER THESE AS WELL
.

1. Tip from Tae Kwon Do: The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do it.

2. Learned this from a tourist guide to New Orleans : if a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from you
. chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you and he will go for the wallet/purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car: Kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won’t see you but everybody else will. This has saved lives.

4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc. DON’T DO THIS! The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU CLOSE the DOORS , LEAVE.

5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:

a. Be aware: look around your car as someone may be hiding at the passenger side , peek into your car, inside the passenger side floor, and in the back seat. ( DO THIS TOO BEFORE RIDING A TAXI CAB) .

b. If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.

c. Look at the car parked on the driver’s side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)

6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. (Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot).

7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; And even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN!

8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP IT! It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked “for help” into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.

Send this to any woman you know that may need to be reminded that the world we live in has a lot of crazies in it and it’s better safe than sorry.
