Guards. Of course. Brutes he calls them. Belle Reve Penitentiary was supposed to be a secure place to keep humans safe from meta humans and other dangerous beings..somehow Psimon ended up here. Oh how he hated it…not even his own team had come to rescue him…Queen Bee must have told them to wait it out, see if he was strong enough to escape on his own. What a joke. He would, if he hadn’t been forced into a control collar that blocked his powers…without them, he felt weak…defenseless…and it turns out these guards weren’t as dumb as he hoped, figuring out how vulnerable he was without his gifts.

Psimon gingerly touched his cheek, feeling the tender and sore spot one of those men had hit, since he refused to eat the disgusting prison food. Ouch. He couldn’t see it but he assumed there would be a nasty bruise considering how pale his complexion was.

Suddenly noise. Voices. Outside his cell. Oh boy, who’s here to torment him this time? Psimon didn’t spare so much as a glance to the footsteps approaching his area. Why would he care? If he looked up he’d be insulted. If he didn’t he’d be hit. Hurt either way.

“Dr. Simon Jones..?”

That got him to pause. They said his name. His REAL name. That’s a first. He decided it wouldn’t hurt to look over, so he tilted his head, showing the bruised cheek.

“…”

No words needed. Their face gave away everything he needed to know. This person wasn’t here from pity. They weren’t just someone from an agency hellbent on ridding the world of his kind…this was a sympathetic person who…saw him as a person…not the villain or sociopath he was, but someone who deserved rights and respect.

He sat up. Glancing at their hands, he saw two things. A tray of slightly edible looking food, and a book. Surprising. But not unwelcome. He blinked once, then smiled a bit. To the untrained eye it appeared a smirk or mocking scoff. But that’s just what he was taught to do. This smile was genuine. He needed this care and even he knew it.

He accepted the food and entertainment, flipping through the pages as he spared glances at this person. Who were they? Why would they care about him? Everyone else has laughed or rushed away due to his appearance and overall demeanor. They were different. It infuriated him. It made him want to figure them out, find out all their secrets and break them down…but then…guilt…wait, guilt? Psimon felt…bad…his instinct is to break this new person down and use them to escape…but the sudden thought of harm coming to the one person who has shown humanity to him in years…bile rises in his throat. He couldn’t. Not to them. Not yet at least…

As the newcomer watched him, he watched back. Something about them…it spoke to him. He felt he didn’t need his power to know what they were thinking…and he had the sneaking suspicion that they felt the same…

Suddenly, prison wasn’t worse than hell…the kindness of this person was the one thing the fear of his situation could never drown out…he’d found what he needed. How could he let go now..?

OKAY. That was new lmao. So- I’m planning on making more of these kinda oneshots so stay tuned lmao bye
