Guess I'll Put It On My Blog Too

Guess I'll put it on my blog too

its really cool that we discovered glass which is the material that doesnt have any chemical reactions with anything in the universe very useful for doing chemistry due to being able to put things in it to contain chemical reactions and never having it react with the things that are in it due to it being completely and entirely unreactive to every chemical

Connor, the protagonist of Lord Bung's YouTube series *SCP Animated* is the perfect example of this, complete with hating his job since he's essentially used as an infinite source of crash test dummies for whatever terrible anomaly the foundation needs poked.

immortality through not being incapable of death but by coming back to life after you die no matter what is such a cool power like it’s just so fucking metal. you can rip me apart if you want, i’ll rise from my own viscera and all you’ll have done is piss me off

I read a book once called Braiding Sweetgrass, and the author Robin Wall Kimmerer gave me a perspective shift I wasn't expecting.

The idea that human beings are by default an oppositional force to nature is somewhat rooted in catholic mythology. God created Adam in his image. This puts humans above all other creatures. God cast Adam and Eve out into the wilderness. The origin of humanity places nature as antagonistic to our survival, and everything we see about human activity seems to reinforce this. It seems like nature and humanity are separate entities playing a zero-sum game with eachother. To give to humanity we take from nature and vice versa.

Contrast this origin story against the Lenape one, in which humanity and the rest of the world's creatures are all created simultaneously and given equal status. Humans have a role to play in the natural ecosystem just like all other creatures. This is reinforced by the various organisms in the Americas which have evolved to coexist with humans. In the book, the example of sweetgrass is given, which grows better and healthier when it is regularly picked for weaving into baskets.

This is hard proof that it's possible for humanity and nature to exist in harmony, to gain without taking from the other.

i wish so fucking bad that schools would teach even the most basic nature and wildlife literacy. bc what they teach now is how we get these godawful lawns and monocultures and an endlessly growing list of extinct animal species. like i can’t even count how many times i’ve been trying to explain to people why mosquitoes/moths/bats/flies/wasps/etc are so important and people have gone “but that’s what bees are for (pollination)” or “birds can just eat other things” or “things decompose on their own”. it has to be in the dozens. nothing makes me as upset as when people simply cannot wrap their heads around the fact (fact, fact, fact) that every single organism has its purpose in nature and there is *nothing* that is “pointless”. ignorance like this is what leads to barren monoculture lawns and deforestation and “pest control” and devastating invasive species and expanding extinction/endangerment lists. i just wish schools would teach that every animal and plant has its place, and *nothing* needs to be exterminated as a whole, *especially* native wildlife. but of course capitalism can’t thrive on proper environmentalism so i guess we’ll just have to deal with this.

Oh hey maybe this guy carrying a ball of string can be my friend :) I've been alone for so long I hope I don't come off as weird

yeah im still thinking about the minotaur sorry but just . imagine youre born wrong. imagine your entire existence is a punishment from the gods. for something you had no control over. imagine your mother holds nothing but contempt for you. she wont even look at you, not really, & she keeps crying & you keep crying & reaching towards her with your little arms & someone drags you away from her. & they keep you hidden & alone & a stranger comes & builds an impenetrable prison around you so youre doomed to forever haunt these endless corridors & youve never known kindness or companionship or love. & when they call you a monster. well. you believe them
