Saying "I love you" without saying "I love you" — some ways your otp can silently express affection
Forehead kisses, and smiling through the kiss
Resting their forehead on the other’s after a kiss
Tucking strands of loose hair behind their ears, with a thumb caressing their cheek
Interlacing their fingers with the other’s when they least expect it
Sleepy back hugs when the other person is busy whipping up breakfast in the kitchen, catching them by surprise
Just doing their own things in the same space; being so comfortable around the other even in their pyjamas
Holding both their hands while holding their gaze gently, just before leaning in for a kiss
Switching positions with the other when walking down a busy sidewalk because your feel the need to keep the other safe
Being playfully clingy in the mornings when one has an off day and the other has to rush to work
Getting them something from the store when they only mentioned it in passing
When one is overseas for a work trip and everything they see reminds them of the other person (bonus: whenever it happens, they take a picture and drop the other person a text.)
Squeezing their hand reassuringly and holding their hand throughout an intense social situation (eg. a large school reunion which the more introverted person is dreading)
Kissing away their tears
^ and letting the other cry on their shoulder even when their t-shirt gets soaked from their tears
Meeting them where they are, mentally and emotionally; never forcing them to do anything they aren’t comfortable with
Wholeheartedly supporting their dreams, and putting that into action by making concrete plans for it to happen
Dropping the other person an encouraging text before an important interview/event
Surprising the other with flowers just because; no occasion and no reason needed
Picking the other person up from work when it’s getting late, and walking them right to their doorstep after
Good morning and goodnight texts
Making the other person a Spotify playlist with songs that remind them of their relationship and growth
Remembering the littlest of things — activities they like and dislike, favourite brands of stationery, go-to ice cream flavour, choice of popcorn
Writing little notes on post-its and leaving them in random pages of their textbook, so that they will get a little endorphin boost when studying
Fairy Tail Headcanons pt 3:
Chelia was so tiny during the deliora attack that she doesn't actually remember anything about it. Sherry is very thankful for that
Loke and Natsu both knew the other wasn’t human because of the body switching episode. Neither said anything. Mostly out of confusion
Elfman is the best hypeman. That man loves supporting his friends
Mira and Erza still have a rivalry. It’s not out of hate anymore but can still get pretty intense. They don’t fight physically anymore but everything is a competition
It’s a running joke that Laxus collects demons like Pokémon. He’s got Freed, Mira, Natsu and Gray so far (some count Erza as well)
The entire guild is super protective of Lisanna. She stubs her toe and half the guild is trying to do first aid
Cana is a natural born leader. She tends to take charge during battles has led them to victory multiple times
Do you have any Lucy and Gray friendship headcanons to share? They're my favorite brotp in the series.
Their friendship is so important to me!
They are very sarcastic, bitchy type best friends. Always sitting around talking shit
Unfortunately for everyone around them, they both have pretty dark senses of humor (in a self deprecating way that makes their fellow guild members stressed)
But also they are really supportive of each other. Like always the first to cheer the other on
For Christmas one year, Gray recreated Lucy's keys in ice and made them into ornaments (Lucy nearly cried. Especially when she saw the Aquarius one (this was before she got the key back))
Lucy taught Gray how to slow dance. He's normally a good dancer but something about slow dancing trips him up
No one is safe from their judgement. Loke trips walking into the guild? Gray and Lucy are whispering and pointing. Natsu can't even breathe without them bullying him
Gray tends to keep an eye on Lucy at parties and stuff because he knows men tend to get grabby with her. He also knows she can take care of herself, but if Gray can freeze the guy to the floor without causing a scene, he's gonna.
Something about Lucy activates Gray's mom tendencies. He's always patching her injuries, making sure she ate, etc
Lucy tries to do it back but Gray would rather die than take care of himself. Lucy assures him that if he keeps it up, she will kill him
Unfortunately threatening to kill Gray usually ends in him getting excited and going "promise?!?". Lucy then threatens to snitch to Natsu and Gray takes it back (this is a very common conversation between the two)
Ya know, everyone talks shit about Fairytail because it does rely heavily on “the power of friendship” and I get if that’s not your thing or feels too childish for you but
Can we acknowledge how dark it all is? Loke/Leo is suicidal in the beginning, Lucy comes from an abusive father and dead mother, Gray is an orphan And his step in mother figure died to save him after he made a bad choice, Erza was an orphan and a Literal Slave as a child with a bunch of other children and her childhood love got possessed and continued her abuser’s work. We all know the shit with Natsu and the dragon slayers.
That’s not even going into the Mirajane/Elfman/Lisanna backstory, or the story of any other characters like Juvia and Happy and Charla and Zeref and such. Like holy shit? This show is so so dark and everyone looks over all the trauma and dark themes because there’s the whole power of friendship thing, which was weaved into the show to actually mean something and not just there for shits and giggles.
All this to say, you can dislike the show, hate it even, but don’t just judge it for the light hearted outer shell it has, because inside is dark and dense and Meaningful

Art with sailor Loke and mermaid Lucy 💜

What he says: Loke bores me.
What he means: For someone who got his own arc centered around a character a hundred times deeper than initially thought, Loke/Leo has kind of been phased out. He didn't really fulfill expectations to begin with, but one wonders if he has any real use now, given that all 12 Zodiac keys are in possession. The last time he got significant relevance was when he dueled Capricorn/Zoldeo or, if you watch the anime, when he was turned into a blowhard jerk as an Eclipse spirit. Even when he was doing things, not much came of it other than love-story vibes, if not between him and Lucy, then between him and Aries, something which was never explored deeper. Beyond asking Virgo to call him "big brother" occasionally, he has very little interaction with the other spirits among whom he's supposed to be regarded as a leader. It would've been interesting, given that all of the spirits in Lucy's possession (several Zodiacs included) came to Loke's defense when he was dying in exile, to see how the rest of the Zodiac would receive him after several years absent. Is Loke going to get anything significant done, given how the manga is coming to an end?

Fantasy Guide to Palaces and How they Work

I'm always being asked how palaces work whether its downstairs, upstairs or accommodation wise. It is a really difficult thing to explain since there are so many different versions. I thought up a great analogy for it. Treat a palace like a hotel with a whole town living in it, because that's technically what it is. So that's what we're going to do.
Accommodation

Accommodation can be a difficult thing to sort both as a writer and a steward. You might have a palace of 200+ bedchambers in which you must house a staff of 500-/+, a varying amount of nobles, the royal family (of a varying amount) and their own households. When assigning rooms it is best to think of a Russian nesting doll. Start from the inside and work your way to the outside.
The best rooms go to the monarch, their consort and their children/siblings/parent(s). These chambers would include the bedroom, a drawing room/ common area, a privy, a closet (a small chamber that can be used for prayer or work). They would be furnished with the best cloth, the best candles and whatever furniture brought by the resident since most royal courts travelled from palace to palace. They will also have chambers for their personal servants such as ladies in waiting and grooms.
The second best set of rooms would go to the highest ranking nobles/people in the court. These rooms would be less fancy and a little smaller. These would be given to from titled nobility descending from those of Ducal rank (Dukes/Duchesses) or even members of the council such as Thomas Cromwell in Tudor times.
The next set would be considerably smaller, perhaps minus a closet or a drawing room. Given to lower nobility.
The next level of chambers would be smaller perhaps only the bedroom and a common area given to minor nobles.
The last set of rooms would be small and only hold enough room for a bedroom. Servants would have to sleep on the ground on pallets beside their masters.
Any other guests at court would have to stay at off-site locations around the palace in the city. Some nobles at houses around major palaces just in case they arrived late or were kicked out of court.
Room Service

Most palace kitchens were in the lower extremities of the building. They would include an area for food preparation, pantries (rooms where they keep the food) and perhaps even a common area for the servants. Food would be cooked in large ovens, rather looking like pizza ovens or on spits over fire pits. The kitchens would turn out food on order of the nobility and royalty which would be brought to the rooms by the noble's own servants. But since royal palaces are so large and microwaves do not exist, the food would likely be cold when it arrived. For larger, more public dinners, the court would gather in the great hall together (for more on this).

Entertainment

If you hoard over a thousand people into a single building, you will have to keep them entertained or else they might start misbehaving, more than usual. Palaces would be well stocked with ways to keep the courtiers occupied.
Every palace would have a stable where the residents' horses would be chillin'. Some palaces have parkland around them for hunting and picnicking.
Most palaces would have common areas where courtiers would meet to play card games or gossip like a game room.
There would be lawns converted for games such as bowling, croquet and tennis.
Some palaces like Versailles would have indoor theatres and stages for traveling players to perform pieces for the court.
Mediaeval castles would have pits for cockfighting or bear baiting usually outside the main castle on the grounds.
Services

We've spent enough time upstairs. Now lets look at the servants portion of the palace.
The local servants (those who serve at the palace all year round) would typically sleep in mass chambers grouped together according to jobs and gender.
The stableboys would likely sleep in the stable's hay lofts.
The unmarried girls of the castle would be locked in to protect their virtue (a precautionary rule though was frequently broken).
The cooks would sleep near the kitchen in order to get to work early as they could or if they had to rise early.
Stewards (the main boss of the servants) would have the best accommodation as would the other heads of the different groups of servants including the housekeeper, the chef, the head gardener.
Servants who came along with the court would be housed either in close quarters to their masters or on the floor by their bed.
The servants have different corridors and staircases to get around the palace without being seen. These would be smaller and plain parts of the palace.
For @innergoldx sorry it took so long
I don't know if you've done this before but what are some good ways to describe speech?
Ways to Describe Speech
-> feel free to edit and adjust pronouns as you see fit.
His voice was deep like the rumbling of the earth.
She had the voice of a singer, smooth and rich like chocolate.
Their voice reminded him of spring rain.
He often paused in his speaking, like a car radio that had lost signal.
She had a lilt to her voice that made it seem like she was asking a question.
Their voice was monotonous, threatening to put her to sleep with every word.
He couldn't put her voice into words. It was... otherworldly.
Her voice was brittle, as if she were on the verge of tears.
Their voice was authoritative. Their words carried like a loud command.
His voice, unapologetic and unwavering, made her shrink back.
Her voice was barely above a whisper.
Their words were cold with anger.
