Summary: Seonghwa, a dedicated kindergarten teacher, had sworn off dating to focus on his job, but everything changes when he meets you, the aunt of one of his students. As you navigate the challenges of parenthood together, a deep connection blossoms. What happens when he finds himself falling in love despite his resolve to stay single?
A/N: Inspired by that episode of ATEEZ on Ch'i'ld Cloud and that time when Seonghwa mentioned how he'd be a kindergarten teacher had he not been an idol.
ATEEZ Masterlist
"Dude, you need to get yourself a girlfriend if you love kids this much." Joy quipped with a grin.
She glanced at Seonghwa as they both stood at the kindergarten entrance. She couldn't resist the opportunity to tease him, knowing how dedicated he was to his job. She went on about her blissful relationship with her long-term boyfriend, her eyes shining with love and contentment.
Seonghwa rolled his eyes, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips, as he helped one of the kids put on their tiny shoes. His heart was full from a day spent with these precious little ones, and he wouldn't trade it for anything.
"Worry about yourself, Joy," He retorted playfully, "I have the kids here to keep me busy; I don't need to have my own."
The children, sensing it was time to go home, were excitedly rushing off into the waiting arms of their parents. Seonghwa watched them, his own heart warming as he knew he played a part in their day.
As most of the children had left, he noticed one of the students from his class still seated by the bench near the entrance. Little Eunji, her big brown eyes brimming with anticipation, watched with a pout as her friends left one by one with their parents. Concerned, he crouched down beside her, "Eunji? Are your parents not here yet?"
Just as she was about to respond, her eyes lit up with joy, and a radiant smile spread across her face.
"Eunji-yah, I'm here!"
You called out, your voice filled with warmth, and you appeared at the entrance. The child squealed in delight and darted into your arms, wrapping herself around you. You, on the other hand, looked exhausted as you huffed tiredly, "Sorry, I'm late, sweetheart. I came as fast as I could from work."
The child shook her tiny head, nuzzling even closer to you, clearly relieved to have you there. The teacher watched the touching reunion, his heart swelling with tenderness as he observed the connection between you both.
When you finally stood up properly and turned to Seonghwa to thank him for his hard work, he felt his breath momentarily knocked out of his chest by how breathtaking you looked.
"Oh, you must be Mr. Park, Eunji's class teacher," You said warmly, extending your hand to him, "Listen, thank you so much for always watching after her. I apologise for constantly being late. I promise I'll try to come earlier."
He was at a loss for words, completely captivated by your presence. He stammered, "N-no problem at all, really. It's just my job." He couldn't tear his eyes away from you, and it was only when Eunji tugged at his pants that he snapped out of his trance.
"Thank you, Teacher Hwa! Bye-bye!" The child chimed in, her adorable voice breaking his momentary stupor.
Seonghwa smiled, finally regaining his composure.
"Oh, right! No worries at all. I'm always ready to take care of all the kids. Have a safe trip home, you two!" He waved as you and Eunji walked away, hand in hand.
He continued to watch as you left, his gaze lingering on your retreating figures. There was an undeniable attraction and a curiosity he couldn't ignore.
No, Park Seonghwa, this is wrong.
He battled with his own internal conflict, constantly reminding himself that his attraction toward you was inappropriate.
After all, you were the mother of one of his students. It was his duty to ensure the well-being of the children in his class, and allowing these feelings to grow was risky.
As he observed you during each drop-off and pick-up, he couldn't help wondering about your personal life. Your exhaustion was evident, and he speculated about where your husband might be. The thought crossed his mind that perhaps you were divorced, widowed, or going through some other personal hardship.
But he knew that these were sensitive topics, and he didn't want to pry or make you uncomfortable.
He was torn between his genuine concern for your well-being and his internal struggle to contain his growing attraction. He knew he had to find a way to balance his feelings and responsibilities, and he was determined to do so in a way that was respectful and considerate of your feelings as well.
Other than that, he found himself in a moral dilemma.
He understood that, as a teacher, it was his responsibility to treat all the children equally and not play favourites. But ever since he met you, it became increasingly challenging not to pay extra attention to Eunji. He was acutely aware of how tired you were, raising her on your own, and he felt a sense of responsibility to be even more attentive to the child for your sake.
Besides, it was hard not to notice that Eunji was one of the sweetest and most well-mannered kids he's ever taught. She displayed a level of consideration and maturity far beyond her age.
He truly admired your parenting skills, as it was evident that your love and care have moulded Eunji into such a wonderful and well-behaved child. He admired the kind of mother you were to the child, and it only deepened his attraction to you.
One day during lunch while they watched over the kids, Joy playfully nudged him on the shoulder, "Is it just me, or have you been playing favourites lately? I see you've grown a liking to little Eunji. I mean, I can't blame you; she's literally a sweetheart. But dude, I thought you were more professional than that."
Seonghwa froze in his tracks, realising that he hadn't been as subtle as he thought.
Joy's comment hit close to home, making him acutely aware of the unspoken truth. He had grown closer to Eunji, and it was impossible to deny that it was because of the connection he felt with you, the child's dedicated and loving guardian.
He contemplated whether he should talk to his closest colleague about the undeniable attraction he felt for you. He was torn between wanting to confide in someone and the fear of making things even more complicated. The feeling was eating him up inside, and he knew he needed to address it somehow.
Joy noticed the genuine conflict in his expression, which was far deeper than she initially expected. Concerned, she straightened up, "Dude, I was just playing with you, man. You good?"
He chewed anxiously on his bottom lip before he hesitantly began, "Eunji's mother... she's a remarkable woman, isn't she?"
Joy's expression turned solemn at the mention of the child's parent, "Indeed, she was," The past tense in her response caught Seonghwa's attention, and he furrowed his brow, puzzled, "That's weird, why would you say it like that?"
She scratched her head, genuinely perplexed, "What do you mean?"
He placed his hands on his hips and stared at her, unamused, "You literally said 'was' instead of 'is,' like she's dead or something."
At this revelation, Joy blinked in surprise, "Umm, maybe because she is dead? I thought you knew, that's why you're bringing her up."
Seonghwa shot up from his seat immediately, his eyes wide with shock, "W-what do you mean?! I just saw her drop Eunji off this morning!"
That's when his colleague slapped a palm over her forehead, realising the mix-up, "Bruh, that's not Eunji's mother! That's her aunt, you doofus!"
He sat back down in his seat, his mind racing to process the new information. He felt a mix of embarrassment, surprise, and curiosity, "Wait, what? That's her... aunt?" He croaked, finally comprehending the revelation that upended his assumptions. He's been mistaken all along, wrongly assuming that you were Eunji's mother.
As he replayed all the interactions he's had with you, the pieces of the puzzle started to fit together differently.
It dawned on him that the dynamic he perceived between you and Eunji was not that of a mother and child but of a dedicated aunt taking on the role of guardian. This realisation left Seonghwa with a newfound sense of hope, a chance he'd never imagined before.
His heart began to race, not only from the embarrassment of his mistake but also from the realisation that his feelings for you were no longer encumbered by the thought of you being a married woman.
"Yeah, poor Eunji's parents died in a tragic car accident about a year ago. Her aunt was left with no choice but to care for her all alone, especially since Eunji's grandparents were all gone too. From what I know, she's been struggling quite a bit, trying to adjust her life to the sudden new addition of a child. It must be extremely difficult, so if you're trying to say she's remarkable, I completely agree with you." Joy clarified the situation, finally giving Seonghwa the full picture of the story.
He absorbed this information, his heart aching for the difficult circumstances you've been navigating. The admiration he felt for you deepened even more, not only for the love and care you provided to Eunji but also for the strength and resilience you displayed during such challenging times.
He realised that he's been drawn to you not just because of his attraction but because of the genuine respect and appreciation he held for the way you've handled the situation.
The relief of finding out you weren't Eunji's mother was quite apparent on his face, and Joy, with her mischievous grin, didn't miss a beat. She wagged her finger at him, her eyes twinkling with amusement, "Well, well, well, guess who has a crush on his student's guardian."
His eyes widened in realisation, knowing he'd been caught red-handed, "Whaâ"
She interrupted him, not letting him evade the truth.
"Don't even bother trying to hide it, I see through you. It's about damn time, Park Seonghwa! I was starting to think you were hopeless, but you're making me proud now," She wiped a fake tear off her face dramatically, causing him to roll his eyes and playfully smack her on the arm, "Oh, shut up, it's just a little crush."
But that didn't deter Joy as she continued to tease him with a mischievous grin, "Oh, just a little crush, huh?"
Before she could carry on with her good-natured ribbing, the bell rang, signalling that lunchtime was over. Seonghwa let out a sigh of relief as the students began to file back into the classroom.
The whirlwind of emotions and revelations during lunch left him slightly breathless, but it also ignited a spark of hope and anticipation for what the future might hold.
Today was one of those days when you were terribly late to pick up your niece from kindergarten. Seonghwa and Joy were the only ones left with the child, and as the sky grew dark and the school closed its doors, a sense of unease settled in.
Seonghwa has been trying to reach you, but his calls have unfortunately gone unanswered.
He knelt beside Eunji, trying to reassure the child, whose eyes were welling up with tears, "Hey, hey, it's alright. Your aunty's going to be here soon, I promise," The child's voice trembled as she voiced her fear, "What if aunty leaves me like mummy and daddy?" Joy shook her head, her heart going out to the young girl, "Of course not! Your aunty is coming, I know it!"
Just as her words settled Eunji's nerves, you finally arrived, out of breath and visibly shaken. Your hands were bruised and bloodied, and you looked exhausted. Your niece's tears turned into relief as she spotted you and rushed into your arms, "Aunty!"
You held her tightly, sighing tiredly into her hair as you stroked the back of her head. The teachers approached you, worry etched across their faces as they immediately noticed the dishevelled state you were in. The concern was evident in their eyes, and they exchanged silent glances as they contemplated how to address the situation.
Seonghwa immediately sprang into action, helping you pick up your work bag that had fallen to the floor. Joy, with a look of genuine concern, guided you to the nearest bench.
"Are you alright?" She asked gently.
You sighed heavily, wincing slightly as she examined your injuries, "I was held back by an important meeting today, and while I was rushing to get here, a bike nearly ran into me! Thankfully, a kind stranger managed to pull me out of the way just in time. I guess I'm lucky these are the only injuries I sustained."
Seonghwa frowned, sitting down beside you with Eunji on his lap, the worry etched across his face, "What happened to your car?"
You bit your lip and rubbed your neck sheepishly.
"It's in the workshop waiting to be serviced, but I'm kinda short on money lately, so I can't afford it for the time being. But I promise I won't let that stop me from coming to pick Eunji up on time again! I'm so sorry for the trouble I've caused you both."
Joy shook her head in understanding and quickly moved into the school to grab some plasters for your injured hands. Seonghwa, on the other hand, sat there with furrowed brows, deeply concerned not just about the car but about the tough situation you were in.
He couldn't bear to see you in this predicament and decided that he had to step in and help, otherwise, he would never forgive himself, "How are you going to get home then?" He asked, genuine concern in his eyes.
You were visibly contemplating your options, knowing that walking home with Eunji would be challenging but not wanting to burden the teachers further, "We'll... we'll walk home, we don't live that far from here anyway." It was at that moment that Joy returned with the necessary first aid supplies, and she shook her head in a determined manner.
"Absolutely not, Seonghwa will take you both home." She insisted. She then turned her attention to your injured hands, gently cleaning the wounds and applying the plasters.
Your eyes widened, and you shook your head furiously, feeling guilty about imposing further, "N-no, please, Mr. Park, you don't have to! Gosh, I've troubled you enough. I can't possibly expect that from you."
But Seonghwa simply smiled, ruffling Eunji's hair as she giggled, "Don't worry about it; I want to help. Besides, I have nowhere to be after work, and you say you don't stay far from here, right?"
You nodded shyly, feeling a mix of emotions.
No one has ever been so generous to you before, and the fact that your niece's kind and handsome teacher was going out of his way to assist you touched your heart. The attraction you've been feeling for him has been growing, but now, it has become even more undeniable. Seonghwa's kindness and generosity were drawing you closer to him.
His warm smile filled you with gratitude, "Oh, and please, just call me Seonghwa from now on."
You smiled in response, relieved that he was making an effort to be closer to you, "Okay. Thank you, Seonghwa."
Meanwhile, his colleague pretended to gag behind you, making him throw her an annoyed glare, "Go home, Joy. Your boyfriend must be worried." He said, attempting to make her leave him alone.
Joy smirked, knowing he wanted to be alone with you.
"Alright, alright. I'll get going first then. I trust Seonghwa to take good care of you two. See you tomorrow, Eunji-yah!" She said as she waved to your niece, who beamed in response.
"Bye-bye, Teacher Joy!" The child called out with excitement as Joy finally left, leaving you and Seonghwa alone.
The three of you settled into Seonghwa's car, with little Eunji securely buckled in the back seat. He gave a playful question, asking, "Are you ready?" Your chuckles filled the car when the child responded with excitement, shouting, "Yes! Let's go, Teacher Hwa!"
As you made your way home, he gathered the courage to ask you, "So, do you have any food prepared at home for dinner?"
It was then that you realised you'd forgotten to prepare anything, and you hurriedly replied, "Oh, no! I forgot all about stocking up on groceries, but it's fine! Just drop us home, I'll run to the nearest convenience store and take care of it."
He pursed his lips and shook his head firmly, "No way, I'm taking you two to dinner, and we can go grocery shopping together. How's that sound, Eunji-yah?" He asked, glancing at the young girl, who cheered and clapped happily, her enthusiasm melting your heart.
"Butâ" You were about to protest, but Seonghwa cut you off, "No 'buts,' we're doing this."
You nodded in defeat, acknowledging that he was being genuinely kind and helpful, "Oh, alright, I owe you for this."
He grinned, fully aware that he had an opportunity to get to know you better and earn your trust. He didn't want to rush things or scare you away, so he was determined to be patient and take things one step at a time.
The teacher took you and Eunji to a cosy little Chinese restaurant and ordered everything you both wanted to eat, even when you protested and told him that you couldn't possibly eat that much. He insisted, his kindness and attentiveness shining through.
You've known that he was a good and caring man; his reputation at the kindergarten made that clear. He was incredibly popular among the parents, not just for his handsome looks but for his genuine compassion and warmth.
As you observed his sweet interactions with Eunji, your heart warmed even more. You realised how much your niece must have missed having a father figure in her life, and Seonghwa was filling that role beautifully during this dinner.
All this time, you've been juggling the responsibilities of both mother and father ever since your sister and brother-in-law had left the world so suddenly. It was a heavy burden, and Seonghwa's presence and the genuine care he showed not only to Eunji but to you as well, were like a breath of fresh air.
As you ate, he found himself staring at the injuries on your hand. Concern for you had taken root in his heart, and he couldn't ignore the fact that you were facing financial difficulties, struggling to even afford car servicing.
The memory of your near accident weighed heavily on his mind, and he decided to broach the subject.
He cleared his throat and spoke gently, "Listen, the situation with your car worries me, especially considering what happened today. How about this? I could drop you off at work in the mornings and pick you up in the evenings. You won't have to worry about your safety, and it would be no trouble at all for me to take Eunji to school with me."
You rejected his offer, grateful for his kindness but concerned about the burden it would place on him, "Seonghwa, you've done so much for us already, and I appreciate it more than you can know. But I couldn't possibly ask you to go through all this trouble. I don't know how I could ever repay you if you did."
He placed his chopsticks down, his expression serious and determined, and he sighed lightly.
"Trust me, I understand that you feel bad, but I promise you're not taking advantage of anything. I genuinely want to help you. If not for yourself, at least accept it for Eunji's sake. You have no idea how scared she was today when you showed up late. She... was afraid you'd leave her like her parents did."
Your eyes widened at the realisation, and you immediately shook your head, pulling your niece closer to you and pressing kisses all over her head as you assured her that you'd never leave her. The thought of Eunji feeling abandoned like that was heartbreaking.
After a moment of contemplation, you realised he was right. You reluctantly agreed, thanking him profusely for his generous offer. His kindness and genuine concern for you and Eunji touched you, and you were so grateful for his presence in your life.
You had an incredibly enjoyable time at the supermarket with Seonghwa after the hearty meal. It has been a long while since you'd had this much fun, and he made sure to spoil your niece with snacks and toys, occasionally sneaking in a few items he noticed you eyeing without your knowledge. The joy on Eunji's face was priceless, and you couldn't help but smile.
As he stood at your apartment entrance with the child asleep in his arms, you opened the door wider to let him in. If he found your small studio apartment cramped, he didn't mention it. He carefully placed Eunji on your queen-sized bed, tucking her in with a soft smile.
You led him quietly back to the entrance, feeling immensely grateful for all that he's done, "Thank you so much for everything, Seonghwa. I will pay you back for it all someday, I promise."
He chuckled, shaking his head, "Don't worry about any of that, just... take good care of Eunji and yourself. That's enough repayment."
His words touched you deeply, and you bit back your tears.
"Alright then, I'll pick you two up at 7am tomorrow morning," He said, a hint of warmth in his eyes, "We'll be ready by then! Drive safe, Seonghwa. Text me when you get home."
His heart skipped a beat at your concern, and he stammered, "Y-yeah, I will. See you!" He gave you a gentle smile before departing, leaving you with a feeling of warmth and a newfound connection that was growing stronger with each passing day.
The next morning, you and Eunji got ready and waited by your apartment entrance at 6:55am. True to his word, Seonghwa arrived right on the dot at 7am. Your niece's face lit up with excitement when she saw her favourite teacher approaching.
"Good morning, Teacher Hwa!" She called out, waving her tiny arm enthusiastically.
You smiled warmly at him, "Good morning, Seonghwa."
He greeted you both and came to help you place the child in her seat at the back, expertly buckling her up. He then ran over to your side and opened the door for you, even when you protested that there was no need to.
"Here, I prepared this for you so you don't start work with an empty stomach." He said, pulling out a bag containing a carefully crafted homemade bento set.
Your eyes widened in surprise, "Oh my, Seonghwa! You're too kind; you really didn't have to! I'm already so thankful you're offering to drive me to and from work."
He blushed slightly, "Well, I... I made extra, so I thought I'd pack you some of the leftovers as well. Don't worry about it, please."
You bit your lip, sensing that he was downplaying his generosity, but you decided not to push him any further, "Alright. Thank you so much, Seonghwa."
He beamed and began driving you to your workplace. As you rode along, a sense of gratitude filled your heart, and you realised that his presence brought light and warmth in a way you hadn't expected.
Seonghwa pulled up outside your office building right on time.
As you got out of the car, you couldn't contain your smile when you saw your friend and colleague, San, waiting at the entrance for you.
San offered to give you a lift after finding out about your near accident, but you told him that you already had it covered, without going into too much detail. So, he was quite surprised to see you arriving in another man's car. What surprised him even more was seeing your little niece in the backseat as well.
You exited the vehicle, making sure to wave at Eunji before bowing in gratitude at Seonghwa as he drove away.
San couldn't resist teasing you when you finally walked up to him, "Ooh, who was that? Don't tell me you found yourself a boyfriend already! And don't think I didn't notice little Eunji sitting in the back as well. You better spill, woman."
You burst out laughing, smacking him on the arm playfully before spilling the details about Seonghwa and his kindness. As you shared the story, your colleague listened with interest, chuckling along with you at the heartwarming tale.
As you both settled into your cubicles, with San's desk just opposite yours, he continued to tease you, "You know what, I think he has a crush on you. He literally hasn't even known you that long, and he's doing all this for you? Girl, I'm calling it."
You shook your head, feeling the blush on your cheeks as you waved him off, "Sannie, please, I honestly doubt it. I think it's more likely that he's taking pity on us and probably just has a soft spot for Eunji. Besides, what man would want to get themselves into this?"
He frowned, not liking the way you were so self-deprecating, "Into what?"
You blinked, taken aback, "Isn't it obvious? I'm basically a single parent, and I could barely take care of myself. Who in their right mind would want to take on this burden?"
San narrowed his eyes disapprovingly at you, "No, I won't allow you to sit here and talk about yourself like that."
Before he could further give you his pep talk to remind you of how wrong you were about yourself, your manager stepped into the office, immediately throwing your friend a warning glare. He was notorious for gossiping during work hours, and your superior has been out to get him ever since she first caught him slacking off.
San pouted and sank into his seat reluctantly, but not before giving you a look that said, "This isn't over."
You sighed, appreciating his concern but not wanting to give yourself false hope. Seonghwa was almost too good to be true, and it would be cruel to let yourself believe that you stood a chance with him when he was probably just that nice of a guy and likely only wanted to help as Eunji's teacher.
Focusing on your work, you reminded yourself that, regardless of the future, you had to continue to be the best parent and guardian you could be for Eunji. Whatever may come, the bond that was forming between you, your niece, and Seonghwa was already a gift in itself.
Meanwhile, Seonghwa arrived at the kindergarten with Eunji in his arms. The sight of him carrying the little girl caused Joy to raise her eyebrows mischievously. He rolled his eyes, fully aware that she wasn't going to let him live this down, especially after he shared the events that unfolded the night before.
Joy had always been quick to pick up on his emotions and seemed to have a knack for getting him to spill the beans about his personal life. As he headed into the kindergarten with Eunji, he knew that he was in for another one of his colleague's teasing sessions.
After setting your niece down in her classroom and watching her run off to play with her classmates, he wasn't surprised to see Joy blocking his way with a devious grin.
She wasted no time in getting to the point.
"So, I take it last evening went incredibly well," She wiggled her eyebrows suggestively, "You're welcome, by the way. When you do get married to her, I better be the maid of honour."
He scoffed in disbelief, "Aren't you thinking a little too far ahead? I'm literally a long way from even earning her complete trust. I'd be lucky if she even considered me her friend, and you're joking about marriage, really?"
Joy smirked and nudged him on the shoulder, "Oh, come on, but you do want it to happen, don't you?"
He blinked, stammering, "Sh-shut up, Joy. It's too early to tell."
She snickered, "Oh, is it?" Before she could continue, the bell saved him again as she went to her own class, but not before sending him more teasing looks.
He sighed and shook his head, trying to focus on his work, but he couldn't help thinking about the bond that was slowly forming between him, you, and Eunji. The future was uncertain, but for the time being, he couldn't deny that he was becoming more and more hopeful about what might come next.
Unbeknownst to you and Seonghwa, you had both been on each other's minds the entire day.
As the hours passed, you were equally looking forward to seeing each other again after work. Your lunch breaks were spent enduring playful teasing from your colleagues in your respective ways, but with the thought of getting off work on your minds, you both managed to power through more easily.
Seonghwa, perhaps a bit more than you, was lucky enough to be surrounded by adorable children all day. In contrast, you were piled with endless reports to write and deadlines to meet.
Despite your different work environments, both of you sighed with relief at the same time when the clock struck 6pm. Your hearts fluttered at the thought of meeting again soon, as if the anticipation was a shared connection between the two of you.
"Bye-bye, Teacher Joy!" Eunji waved excitedly, her tiny arms holding onto Seonghwa's shoulders as he carried her to his car. He was preparing to leave the kindergarten and pick you up from work.
He resisted the urge to flip Joy off, who was still wiggling her brows playfully at him and sticking her tongue out to provoke him. Instead, he focused on your niece, giving her a reassuring smile before moving to get into his car.
The car ride to pick you up felt like an eternity, even though it was just a short drive. He was eager to see you, his heart pounding with anticipation.
He couldn't help thinking about how your evening together might unfold and whether you'd been looking forward to it as much as he had. As he pulled up to your workplace, he couldn't stop himself from smiling at the thought of seeing you again.
Seonghwa eventually spotted you emerging from the office, but you were with your male colleague from that morning who was tugging you by the wrist. He knew it was irrational, but he felt a twinge of jealousy seeing you so close to another man who wasn't him.
Your colleague, after spotting his car already waiting, immediately beamed and waved a hand in greeting. Seonghwa nodded back politely, smiling tightly as he watched San ruffle your hair before helping you open the car door.
"Hi, I'm San! Nice to meet you, Seonghwa. She's told me a lot about you. Thank you for helping my friend out; it means a lot!" Your colleague's friendly introduction made it clear that he was just looking out for you.
Seonghwa quickly realised that San was just being friendly and shook his head, "Oh, it's nice to meet you too, San. Please, don't mention it."
San turned to wave excitedly at your niece, "Hey, Eunji-yah!" The child bounced in her seat, "Hi, uncle Sannie!" He cooed before saying his goodbyes and left, not without sending you a devious smile that made you roll your eyes.
Seonghwa was surprised to learn that San and Eunji were already acquainted. He tried to be subtle as he inquired, "Oh, have San and Eunji already met? They seem familiar with each other."
You chuckled and nodded, "Yeah, Sannie's a rather close friend of mine outside of work. He has been over at my place a few times to help out when things get a little overwhelming for me alone."
He made sure to smile widely and nodded slowly, hiding any hint of envy he might have felt. He wanted to be the one to help you out, and he silently promised himself that he would try to be there for you more from now on. He wanted to be the one who made a difference in your life, and he was determined to earn your trust and affection.
Days turned into weeks, and your mornings and evenings with Seonghwa transformed into a comforting routine. He continued to pack you food, despite your protests, and consistently treated you and Eunji to delightful dinners before taking you home.
Over the course of several months, he evolved into a strong pillar of support in your life.
Thanks to his constant presence and willingness to help, you rarely had to ask San for assistance anymore. Seonghwa's reliability eased the burden that life had placed upon your shoulders. He became a source of comfort, and your niece slowly began to see him as a father figure, looking up to him with admiration and affection.
As you spent more time with him, he continuously surprised you with his endless caring and attentive gestures. Whether it was helping you prepare meals, being there to pick you up after work, or simply offering a reassuring presence, he went above and beyond what was expected of a teacher.
Your heart began to race more each day, your affection for him growing as you appreciated the little things he did, even when he didn't need to.
You didn't realise the extent of your reliance on Seonghwa until one fateful night when Eunji's cries woke you up from your sleep. You pushed yourself off of your bed, rushing to her side to check on her.
Panic welled up in your chest as you saw her clutching her stomach and crying out in pain.
"It hurts, aunty... it hurts." She whimpered, her small face contorted in agony. Your heart nearly stopped as she screamed in pain when you tried to lift her up, "Oh no, I'm sorry! I'm so sorry, my angel. It's okay... it's going to be okay." Tears welled in your eyes, and your heart ached to see her in so much distress.
You felt helpless, not knowing what to do to ease her pain.
Not daring to move the child further in fear of hurting her even more, you scrambled to grab your phone instead. Feeling frustrated and frantic, you dialled your first contact, which was supposed to be San, but it went straight to voicemail, indicating that his phone was likely turned off.
Your heart sank, and tears rolled down your cheeks as you rushed back to your niece's side, trying to comfort her while trembling with fear. You needed help immediately, and with no other options, you dialled Seonghwa's number.
It took him a moment, but he eventually picked up, his voice filled with urgency, "Hey, is everything alright?" He must have known that something was terribly wrong for you to call at this late hour.
You struggled to keep your voice steady as you spoke to him, your fear and desperation were evident in your shaky words, "S-Seonghwa... please help. I-I'm so scared... God, she's in pain, and I d-don't know what to do..."
Seonghwa didn't waste a second.
He was already up and getting changed the moment he heard you call out to him so vulnerably. His heart lurched in his chest as he tried to comfort you over the phone.
"Alright, I'm going to need you to breathe with me first. Can you do that? Don't hang up; I'm coming over right now, and I'll stay with you on the phone. We'll get through this together, okay? I'll be there before you know it. It'll be okay."
His calming words and the thought of his imminent arrival were like a lifeline, and you did your best to follow his instructions and regulate your breathing. You clung to the phone, thankful for his presence and reassuring voice as you waited for him.
The weight of the situation pressed down on you, and the feeling of helplessness was overwhelming. You held your niece tightly, whispering soothing words to her while you awaited his arrival.
Relief washed over you as you heard the knock at the door. You swung it open and cried out his name in gratitude, quickly pulling him into your unit. He knelt down beside your niece, and you could see the worry in his eyes as he looked at her.
"Teacher Hwa... it hurts." Eunji sobbed, clutching her belly.
Seonghwa gently felt her forehead, his expression turning more serious as he realised she was running a fever.
"It's okay, I'm here now. We'll take you to the hospital, and all the pain will go away real soon, okay?" He reassured her. She nodded as best she could, her trust in Seonghwa evident in her teary eyes. While he comforted her, you rushed around, packing a bag with some clothes and necessities for the hospital.
He approached you and steadied your shaking hands, "Hey, it's going to be okay. I think she has appendicitis; it's pretty common for kids. Don't worry too much, alright?" His calm and reassuring words helped to alleviate some of your anxiety.
Seonghwa's experience and expertise in such situations were a tremendous comfort. He carefully lifted Eunji from your bed and placed her in his car while you quickly got into the back seat, wanting to be as close to her as possible.
The trip to the hospital was still filled with worry, but he expertly guided you both, instructing you on what to do whenever the child felt any discomfort.
As Eunji was immediately taken into the emergency care unit upon arrival at the hospital, the doctors swiftly confirmed the diagnosis of appendicitis. They explained that you both were fortunate to have arrived early enough for her appendix to still be intact. If you had come later, it could have burst, leading to more complications.
Despite the worry, the doctors assured you that your niece would be just fine after the surgery to remove her inflamed appendix. This news was a tremendous relief, and it filled you with gratitude that she was in the right place at the right time, thanks to her teacher's swift response.
Sitting there on the bench outside the operation theatre, you finally let your guard down, tears streaming down your face.
"Thank you so much, Seonghwa. I... I really don't know what I would have done without you. I was going to call San but couldn't reach him, and I was so scared. God, if something were to happen to her, I would never forgive myself. I've already lost most of my family, I... I can't lose her too, Seonghwa. I really can't..."
He listened to your words, and his heart swelled with compassion as he understood the depth of your fears and anxieties.
A small part of him was glad that San hadn't been available, or he wouldn't have been the one to be here with you now. But he reminded himself that now wasn't the time to relish in this.
With a gentle but firm embrace, he pulled you close to him, allowing you to cry into his shoulder. His own heart ached for the pain you've endured and the burdens you carried.
He couldn't imagine how tough things must have been for you all this while. As if losing your sister and brother-in-law wasn't painful enough, you were suddenly responsible for a child you were struggling to take care of physically, emotionally and financially, having no experience whatsoever.
As he held you, he whispered softly, "You're doing an incredible job. It's not easy, but you've shown such strength and resilience. You're a wonderful guardian to Eunji, and she's so lucky to have you."
You clung to him, finding solace in his comforting presence. His support was a lifeline during your most vulnerable moment.
As your sobs subsided, Seonghwa slowly pulled away, his warm hands moving to brush some stray hair out of your face and gently wiping your tears before cupping your cheeks. His actions immediately sent your heart into a frenzy.
He gazed into your eyes with sincerity, his voice filled with reassurance, "You're not alone in this. I'll always be here for you and Eunji, no matter what. You're like family to me now, and I'll support you through all the ups and downs."
Your heart skipped a beat, and you felt your breath hitch as he leaned in closer. The air crackled with unspoken tension, and you felt his warm breath on your lips. It was an electric moment, but he knew it was crucial to respect your vulnerable state.
Deep down, he wanted nothing more than to kiss you on the lips.
But he settled for pressing his lips gently against your forehead for now. His kiss conveyed his unspoken feelings, the deep care and affection he held for you. It was a promise of his support, even in the face of your most challenging moments.
With his lips against your skin, your heart raced with a flurry of emotions. The warmth of the kiss sent shivers down your spine, and you couldn't help but wonder about his true feelings.
On one hand, there were undeniable signs that he cared deeply for you. The way he's consistently been there for you and Eunji, his thoughtful gestures, and the never-ending support he offered in your times of need all pointed to a deeper connection.
But you couldn't shake the nagging doubt that maybe he was just being a caring friend.
Your own insecurities played a significant role in your hesitance. You found it difficult to believe that someone as perfect as Seonghwa would be romantically interested in you, a single parent with a messy, complicated life.
While his actions spoke volumes, you struggled to accept the possibility that this man could want to be part of your world. It left you caught in a whirlwind of emotions, battling between hope and self-doubt, trying to decipher the complexities of your relationship with him.
The relief that washed over you as the doctor confirmed the success of Eunji's surgery was almost overwhelming. You thanked the medical team profusely, your voice trembling with gratitude.
But then, your emotions got the best of you.
You wrapped your arms tightly around Seonghwa's neck and buried your face in his shoulder, this time letting out tears of relief.
His immediate response was to hold you even closer, his arms providing the safety and comfort you desperately needed. His hand gently stroked the back of your head, and he whispered soothing words, "I told you everything would be okay, didn't I?" He said softly, his voice a gentle reassurance.
With a weary nod, you continued to cry against his shoulder, seeking solace in his warm embrace.
Normally, you would have hesitated to be so bold, but the physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion had pushed you beyond your usual boundaries. At this moment, all you wanted was comfort, and Seonghwa was more than willing to provide it.
You decided that, for now, you would allow yourself to lean on him.
As you sat beside Eunji's hospital bed, your eyes were fixated on her peaceful slumber. You breathed a sigh of relief, silently thanking all the gods you didn't believe in for ensuring her safety. You held her tiny hand against your forehead, grateful for the successful surgery.
The peace was interrupted by the ringing of your phone. You swiftly moved away from her bedside to answer, careful not to wake her.
It was San on the other end, his voice filled with concern and guilt, "Oh my god, I'm so sorry! My phone died last night, and I forgot to charge it. Why'd you call me in the middle of the night? Did something happen?"
You took a deep breath, preparing yourself to recount the ordeal, and San listened attentively, apologising profusely for not being there when you needed him. You assured him that it was alright, understanding that it was an honest mistake. He promised to visit later after arranging leave from work for both of you.
As the conversation with San came to an end, you suddenly remembered Seonghwa's commitment to his job at the kindergarten. You immediately felt a pang of guilt for relying on him so heavily when he had his own responsibilities to attend to.
You approached Seonghwa, who was peacefully napping on the couch in the corner of the hospital ward, and knelt down in front of him to observe him for a moment.
His head bobbed sleepily, and you couldn't resist smiling at how adorable he looked. It was undeniable now that you'd developed deep feelings for him, but at the same time, you felt the weight of your circumstances bearing down on you. You believed that you had nothing to offer him, and he deserved someone who could reciprocate the love and care he had so selflessly given you.
Collecting your thoughts, you gently shook him on the shoulder.
He immediately snapped awake, "Oh dear, I fell asleep, didn't I? Sorry about that," You shook your head, assuring him that he had nothing to be sorry for, "Gosh no, please don't apologise for that. I should be the one saying sorry. You should probably go home and get some rest before going to work."
In fact, you felt guilty for relying on him so much.
But he quickly sat up straight and protested, "What? No, I'm staying here with you two."
You sat beside him and smiled, "You really don't have to, Seonghwa. Sannie is applying for leave, he's coming over soon. And I... I've troubled you enough; you can't miss work because of us too. You can come to visit after work if you'd like, but please... don't skip work too, I feel bad enough already."
He relented after hearing you out; he could tell you really didn't want him to sacrifice any more for you.
Reluctantly, he agreed to go to work. He didn't want to make you feel like you owed him more than you already did. You smiled and walked him to the room door, expressing your gratitude once again.
"Thank you again, Seonghwa. You... you saved her life, and I can never thank you enough for this." You said with genuine appreciation. Your eyes reflected a mix of emotions and gratitude.
He nodded, his expression soft.
"You don't have to thank me. I want to be here for you and Eunji," He replied, emphasising his genuine concern for you both, "Don't ever hesitate to call me if you need anything, alright? I'm always ready to help, always."
Before he left, you held his hand for a moment, meeting his eyes with a depth of emotion that couldn't be ignored. It was clear that your connection was growing stronger each day, despite the obstacles and self-doubts. He squeezed your hand gently and then left the hospital room.
After Seonghwa's departure, you sat by Eunji's bedside, relieved that she was recovering.
As San walked into the hospital room, his eyes met yours, and he immediately noticed your tear-stained face. Without a word, you ran into his open arms, seeking solace in the friend who has been your rock throughout these challenging times. He held you close, silently reassuring you that he was there and that you didn't need to face everything alone.
"God, I'm so sorry," He whispered softly, his voice filled with genuine regret, "I should've been here for you, especially when you needed me the most."
You clung to him, tears flowing freely, your shoulders shaking with the weight of your emotions. San continued to hold you, providing the support you desperately needed in this moment.
The bond between you and San had grown over the years, as he had been with you through all the hardships you faced. He was like the brother you never had, and his presence brought you immense comfort, reminding you that you were never truly alone.
He chuckled as you both settled down, the tension from earlier finally releasing its grip on you. With a playful gleam in his eye, he couldn't resist some light teasing, "I'm telling you, Seonghwa is definitely a simp for you."
Your laughter was a welcome sound, even given the circumstances, and it was a reminder that life still had its moments of lightness. But as you chewed on your lip and confessed your feelings, his teasing demeanour softened, and he offered his heartfelt advice.
"Sannie... I think I might have feelings for him too, but... I'm scared." You whispered.
He sighed, his gaze understanding and empathetic.
His hand gently rubbed your arm as he spoke, "Listen to me, I know you think that being a single parent makes you unattractive, but Seonghwa has proven you wrong, hasn't he? Besides, don't tell me you're going to deprive yourself of the opportunity to fall in love just because of Eunji? You should still live your life, you know? It's what your sister would've wanted for you, to be happy."
Your eyes met his, filled with gratitude.
"I'm telling you, you deserve happiness just like anyone else," He whispered, his tone filled with sincerity, "You can't let fear hold you back. Seonghwa's actions speak for themselves, don't they? He's a wonderful person, and if you have feelings for him, you should explore that possibility. I can see the way he looks at you; it's more than just sympathy."
You bit your lip, contemplating his words. Your sister would have undoubtedly wanted you to be happy, and it was time to think about your own well-being and happiness. You nodded slowly, gratitude filling your eyes as you met San's gaze.
"You're right, Sannie," You replied with a grateful smile, "I'll... try to open up and see where things go with Seonghwa. Thank you for always being there for me."
San's endless encouragement was the very thing you needed to hear. His words were a gentle nudge toward embracing your feelings.
Eunji's voice was like a soothing melody in the room, and you rushed to her side, tears in your eyes, "Aunty... uncle Sannie?" Her little voice croaked, and you knelt beside her bed, your heart swelling with love.
"Aunty's here, Eunji-yah." You whispered, your voice trembling with emotion.
San, who had been sitting beside you, leaned in to join you, "Uncle Sannie is here too, sweetheart."
Eunji reached her tiny hands out, her fingers brushing against your cheeks to wipe away the tears that trickled down. Her concern and innocence touched you deeply, and you smiled through your tears, "Eunji-yah, you feeling much better?"
San's gentle hands moved the child's baby hair out of her face, and she nodded in response, "Don't cry, aunty. I'm okay now."
You chuckled through your tears, kissing her soft cheeks, "Yes, of course you are. My angel is so brave and strong."
As the medical team checked on your niece and made sure she was stable, you and San remained by her side, grateful for her recovery. Eunji was now sitting up in her hospital bed, engrossed in watching cartoons on the TV.
After a while, she wondered aloud, "Where is Teacher Hwa?" Her voice was still soft, but there was a clear longing in her words.
You smiled and leaned over, ruffling her hair and planting a loving kiss on her head, "Teacher Hwa needs to go to work, sweetie. But he'll come by afterwards, is that alright?"
She nodded cutely in understanding, but there was a hint of disappointment in her eyes, "I miss Teacher Hwa." She admitted.
I miss him too.
San couldn't resist spoiling her with affectionate kisses and playful teasing, and you had to agree with her unspoken sentiment. Deep down, you missed her class teacher too, more than you were willing to admit.
Two days later, Eunji was finally approved for discharge from the hospital. As you settled the hospital fees, you sighed to yourself. The money you were using to pay the bills had initially been saved up for your car to be serviced, but now, it seemed that particular expense would have to wait a bit longer.
You kept your financial struggles to yourself, not wanting to burden San or Seonghwa any further. You knew they would help you without hesitation, but you already felt like you owed them more than you could ever repay in this lifetime.
Returning to Eunji's ward, you find Seonghwa packing up her stuff while San helps her get changed out of her hospital gown.
The sight warmed your heart, and even though San's support was something you'd grown accustomed to and deeply appreciated, having Seonghwa there too gave you a newfound sense of hope. San's words from just a few days ago echoed in your mind, and you began to entertain the idea that maybe, just maybe, love was possible even in the midst of everything you were going through.
Meanwhile, the two men unexpectedly began to form a friendship during the time they spent together taking care of your niece over the past few days. All the while, San never failed to send you playful glances and subtle thumbs-ups whenever Seonghwa looked away to signal his approval of the kindergarten teacher.
Eunji perked up when she saw you enter the room.
"Aunty!" She called out, sprinting towards you as soon as San was done helping her get dressed. You picked her up in your arms and laughed when you saw your friend pouting jealously in the background, his arms crossed in mock annoyance.
"Yes, yes, run to your aunty and leave me behind. Leave poor uncle Sannie alone after everything he's done for you." He sighed dramatically, wiping a fake tear from his eye.
Seonghwa chuckled at the scene.
San reminded him a lot of Joy, and he had a feeling they'd make a chaotic duo if they ever met each other.
Pushing the concerns about your financial status to the back of your mind, you decided to focus on the present and worry about that later. Seeing all the most important people to you together, the future seemed a bit brighter.
You had a growing support system that included a caring friend like San and, possibly, a romantic connection with Seonghwa. Though you were still hesitant to fully embrace the idea of love in your life, your niece's recovery and the presence of these two amazing men were giving you hope that maybe, just maybe, there was room for happiness after all.
As days turned into weeks, Seonghwa's actions became increasingly deliberate. It was as if he could read your mind and were aware of your insecurities, he was making a conscious effort to let you know about his non-platonic feelings.
He didn't just stop at being a good friend and support system; he wanted to be more than that in your life.
His compliments became more heartfelt and frequent, making you blush and smile whenever he praised you. His words, no longer confined to appreciating your strength or kindness, now included expressions of admiration for your beauty, your intelligence, and even your sense of humour. He made sure to remind you of how special you were to him every chance he got.
He began to do little things that set your heart racing.
Tucking a stray strand of hair behind your ear during dinner, his fingers gently brushing your skin, sent shivers down your spine. Wiping your lips when you were eating, though seemingly innocent, took on a more intimate meaning when his thumb grazed your lower lip in a slow, deliberate movement. He held your gaze longer than necessary, his eyes revealing the depth of his feelings, and a small, knowing smile often graced his lips.
Seonghwa wasn't afraid to be physical in his affection either. He started walking with a hand resting on the small of your back, his touch warm and reassuring. These gestures sent your heart into overdrive, and you wondered if maybe he felt the same way about you as you did about him.
His advances were impossible to ignore, and it was becoming increasingly apparent that his feelings for you were not limited to friendship.
Unbeknownst to you, he's been preparing to ask you a very important question on a very important day.
The day had been exceptionally hectic for you.
Your workload had grown to mountainous proportions, and while everyone, including San, had left the office, you remained behind to tackle the never-ending tasks. It was one of those days when deadlines and responsibilities refused to be tamed.
You glanced at the time and realised it was much later than you'd initially planned. A quick text to Seonghwa informed him that you would need a little more time at the office and asked him to pick you up slightly later than usual. You suggested he grab dinner with Eunji while they waited for you.
As you dove back into your work, minutes turned into hours. The relentless ticking of the clock was accompanied by the echo of your typing, and the office became a quiet refuge, save for the dim hum of the fluorescent lights.
Seonghwa's text alert came, signalling his arrival, but you were engrossed in a report, and it took you a moment to notice the message. You quickly wrapped up the document and started packing your things, your mind racing to meet the deadline.
When you finally arrived at the entrance, you were greeted by a sight that left you utterly speechless.
There, waiting for you with bright smiles and expectant eyes, was Seonghwa, San, and Eunji. In Seonghwa's hands was a cake with a single lit candle, Eunji clutched a bouquet of colourful flowers, and San held a bunch of balloons.
As they began singing "Happy Birthday" in unison, the tears welled up in your eyes. You've been so consumed by your work that you'd genuinely forgotten about your own birthday. Their thoughtful gesture touched your heart deeply, making you feel cherished and loved in a way you hadn't in a long time.
You stood there, absorbing the warmth of their surprise, appreciating the genuine smiles on their faces, and feeling incredibly lucky to have them in your life.
After they finished singing, you shyly approached Seonghwa to blow out the single candle on the cake, "Oh, thank you so much, you three!" You exclaimed, chuckling through your tears of joy.
You moved to take the colourful bouquet of flowers from Eunji, who seemed puzzled by your tears. She asked with her innocent eyes, "Aunty, don't cry! Are you sad?"
You shook your head, still smiling through your watery eyes as you kissed her little cheeks, "Of course not, silly! I'm crying because I'm happy!" She seemed slightly perplexed but content, leaning in to press a wet, loving kiss to your cheek, "I love you, Aunty." She said, her voice filled with genuine affection.
With Eunji's tender declaration of love warming your heart, San, who had been clearing his throat loudly, playfully complained, "Excuse me, what do I get, huh? Am I invisible?" You rolled your eyes and laughed, moving to hug him as well, "Thank you, Sannie. You're the best, I swear," He grinned, rubbing your back affectionately, "I know." He responded in a cheeky tone.
Meanwhile, Seonghwa seized the moment to get into position. After carefully setting down the cake, he moved to stand behind you, taking his place as he decided it was the perfect time to make his feelings known, "How about me? Do I get a hug too?"
As you turned around, your breath hitched at how close Seonghwa was. Your heart raced, and you noticed the twinkle in his eyes. San discreetly led Eunji to a corner to witness the scene unfold, grinning to himself as he did so.
"Happy birthday." Seonghwa whispered.
Your heart raced, and you thanked him with a smile, the anticipation in the air growing as he gently reached for your hand. The touch sent a shiver down your spine, and you felt that something significant was about to happen.
He looked into your eyes, his gaze unwavering, and said, "There's something important I need to confess tonight." You gulped, your mind racing with possibilities, and nodded slowly. You wondered if this could be the moment you'd secretly dreamed of.
"You know, there used to be a time when I wanted nothing to do with love or romance. I'd sworn off dating for the longest time, wanting to focus only on my job and the kids at work."
Your eyes widened, this was news to you.
He began by sharing a humorous memory from the past, recounting how he'd initially mistaken you for Eunji's mother and the internal turmoil he experienced at the time. He held back his feelings, thinking it was wrong to have a crush on his student's mother. You both laughed about it, and your heart skipped a beat as you began to sense where this conversation was leading.
"I couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw you," He shook his head in amusement, "Little did I know you were Eunji's aunt."
You laughed along, "Well, at least now it makes more sense."
As he continued, you listened with bated breath, "But over time, my initial crush evolved into something much deeper, something I couldn't ignore. Watching you, taking care of Eunji, and being so strong throughout it all... It touched my heart." His words stirred your emotions, and you realised that he had feelings for you even then.
He squeezed your hand, his touch reassuring, "I want you to know that you've inspired me, made me want to love again, to have a family of my own, with Eunji as our child."
His confession hung in the air, the weight of his words settling around you both. You took a moment to absorb it all, his vulnerability and sincerity washing over you.
"Seonghwa," You began, your voice soft, "I... I had no idea."
He smiled gently, his thumb caressing the back of your hand, "I didn't want to burden you with my feelings, especially considering everything you've been through."
A rush of emotions swirled within you.
You squeezed his hand, the unspoken understanding between you palpable, "You've been such an amazing friend to us, Seonghwa. You've helped us more than I can put into words."
He nodded, his eyes never leaving yours, "And I want to continue being there for both of you, in whatever capacity you'll have me."
Tears pricked at the corners of your eyes, but they were tears of gratitude, of hope, "Seonghwa, I..." You took a deep breath, gathering your thoughts, "I never imagined this, but... I've come to care for you deeply. You've been a rock for us, and I can't imagine facing all of this without you."
He smiled, his gaze tender, "I feel the same way, perhaps even more."
The sincerity in his eyes overwhelmed you.
This was a turning point, a moment that could change everything. You took a step closer to him, closing the distance between you, "Seonghwa," You whispered, "I would be honoured to have you in our lives, as more than just a friend."
His smile widened, a mixture of relief and joy dancing in his eyes, "You've just made me the happiest man alive."
As you leaned in, he met you halfway, and your lips finally met in a soft, sweet kiss. It felt like a promise, a new beginning. The world seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of you, connected in this moment of shared vulnerability and newfound love.
But your romantic moment did not last long with San and Eunji skipping out of their hiding spots, singing, "Teacher Hwa and aunty, sitting on a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" Their voices immediately made you and Seonghwa pull away, cheeks flushed crimson.
San smirked, "Well, looks like we have another thing to celebrate now, so who wants cake?" Eunji jumped excitedly at the mention of cake, "Me! Me! Me!" Seonghwa chuckled, lacing his fingers with yours before walking up to the two, "Alright then, let's go." You bit your lip, struggling to take your eyes off your intertwined hands, heart swelling in happiness.
The celebration continued with shared laughter. San couldn't resist a final tease, "I can't believe I'm saying this, but it seems like my predictions were spot on. Congratulations, you two."
The future was uncertain, but you were certain that, with Seonghwa's support and love, you could face anything that came your way.
Seonghwa's following day at work was filled with playful jabs and teasing from Joy, who had learned about your newfound relationship from Eunji, your adorable messenger.
While he might have outwardly displayed annoyance, there was a part of him that secretly relished the teasing. It made everything feel more real and solidified, reminding him that he was no longer just your helpful friend and confidant but your boyfriend.
"Hey, remember when you used to say you'd never waste your time on dating?" Seonghwa rolled his eyes for what felt like the hundredth time that day as he packed up after work, Eunji waiting obediently at the playpen for him to go pick you up from work together, "Yes, Joy, I remember. But that was before Iâ"
She smirked, "Before you met the love of your life?"
He blushed, once again reminded that it might still be too soon to say the L word to you no matter how much he wanted to, he didn't want to pressure you into saying it back to him if you didn't feel the same yet. He would have to find the perfect moment to tell you.
"Yes, Joy, exactly." He chuckled, shaking his head at the playful banter. Joy has always been a close friend, and he appreciated her teasing as a sign that she was genuinely happy for him. He continued to pack his things, a smile playing on his lips.
"I remember all those times I said I'd never date," He admitted, "But I guess life had different plans for me. Meeting her and Eunji... it's like everything I thought I wanted was nothing compared to what I have now. I've never been this content."
She watched him closely, her teasing demeanour giving way to genuine curiosity, "So, what's it like, then? To have someone who's so important to you?"
He sighed, momentarily lost in thought, "It's like having this unwavering support, someone who cares about my day, my dreams, my struggles... It's having someone to share the joys and sorrows with. And with Eunji, it's like having a family, the one I never knew I needed. It's pretty amazing, Joy."
She smiled at him warmly, "I'm so glad you've found it, Hwa. It's beautiful to see how much you've grown and how much love you've discovered."
Seonghwa nodded, grateful for the newfound happiness that entered his life. It was a reminder that sometimes, the unexpected and unconventional paths led to the most fulfilling destinations.
The evening sun cast a warm, golden hue over the scene as you and San exited the office building. There, leaning against his car with an air of casual confidence, stood Seonghwa, a captivating smile on his face. Your heart raced at the sight of him, and you felt incredibly lucky to have him in your life.
Beside him was your niece bouncing around while she waited for you. Eunji's boundless enthusiasm and infectious energy were on full display as she rushed toward you and your colleague, wrapping her little arms around your legs, "Aunty! Uncle Sannie!"
You ruffled her hair lovingly, a radiant smile on your face, "Did you have a good day, Eunji-yah?" You asked, your affection for her shining brightly, "Yes!"
Her ever-doting uncle Sannie picked her up, lifting her high, and she giggled with delight. In the midst of this heartwarming scene, he subtly pushed you toward Seonghwa, who was waiting for you with an expectant look in his eyes.
As you approached him, your gaze was fixated on him, and you couldn't help feeling like a teenager in love.
Your heart fluttered with each step, and without realising it, you missed a step, stumbling slightly on the uneven pavement, your heels causing an issue. But in an instant, your boyfriend's reflexes kicked in, and he rushed forward, his strong arms reaching out to catch you. His hands found your waist and steadied you.
For a heartbeat, your noses bumped gently against each other, and your breaths mingled. The closeness was intoxicating, and your heart raced even faster in response to this unexpected proximity.
"Hi." The two of you whispered at the same time.
Seonghwa's arms encircled you, holding you close in the aftermath of your stumble. The world seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of you in that tender moment. You looked up into his eyes, your heart pounding in your chest, and in that shared gaze, you found an unspoken connection.
In the background, San playfully covered Eunji's eyes, his voice carrying a comically dramatic tone, "Fear not, young Eunji! I shall shield your innocent eyes from this heartwarming scene of romance!"
Laughter bubbled up from both of you, breaking the spell but only for a moment. Seonghwa's eyes twinkled with affection, and without another word, he leaned in, closing the remaining distance between you. His lips met yours in a sweet, gentle kiss, a promise of the love and care that lay ahead for both of you.
It was a kiss filled with tenderness and the unspoken promise of a future together. The world seemed to stand still, allowing you to savour the moment, etching it into your memory.
When you eventually pulled away, a soft smile graced your boyfriend's lips, his thumb gently brushing against your cheek. There was a warmth in his eyes, a silent reassurance that you were exactly where you were meant to be.
As you both turned to look at Eunji and San, you found them engaged in a playful debate about whether or not it was time for ice cream. It was a perfect tableau of the life you were now building togetherâa little messy, a lot of love, and filled with joy.
In that moment, you knew you were exactly where you belonged, in the arms of the man who has become your rock, and surrounded by the love of your little family.
In the few months that you'd been with Seonghwa, you marvelled at what a sweet and thoughtful boyfriend he was. He embraced his role as a partner and father figure with open arms, and it showed in the way he cared for you and Eunji.
Seonghwa was a master of small gestures.
Whether it was a good morning text, a surprise lunch he'd prepared and dropped off at your office, or a cosy movie night he'd set up for you and Eunji, he knew how to make you feel loved. His actions spoke louder than words, a testament to his caring and attentive nature.
You couldn't remember when it began, but you and your niece have been staying over at his place frequently lately. So frequent to the point that your own studio apartment felt like a hotel that you'd only return to once in a while.
On the days when you both stayed over, his morning routine included preparing breakfast for you and Eunji, a tradition that quickly became a heartwarming ritual.
You'd wake up to the smell of pancakes or fresh fruit salad, and your niece couldn't contain her excitement when it was a pancake morning. His culinary skills were a surprise to you, but he enjoyed whipping up dishes that made you both smile.
Seonghwa has become the perfect family man.
He'd do the grocery shopping, subtly watch over Eunji in kindergarten without neglecting the other kids, and even help her with her homework. His patience knew no bounds as he explained math problems for what seemed like the hundredth time.
On weekends, you'd all go for picnics, trips to the zoo, or simply have a quiet day at home. You could feel his love in the way he held your hand, kissed your forehead, and smiled at Eunji's jokes. His affection was a warm embrace that wrapped around both of you, making your little family feel complete.
It was his sharp and observant eyes that amazed you the most. He noticed when you were tired or had a rough day, and he'd be there with a comforting hug or a listening ear. He was the first to recognise when Eunji needed a little extra attention or when she was hiding a scraped knee under her dress.
You loved how attentive and observant your boyfriend was, but there was a part of your life that you desperately wished he would be less perceptive about. It was the financial struggles you'd been trying to hide from him for some time.
As the months passed, you managed to pay off the bills for your car maintenance and finally got it serviced, but it came at a price. Sacrificing your budget for that left you unable to afford your rent and credit card debt. Most of the credit card expenses have been related to Eunji and her needs â kids' things were indeed expensive, and you'd always put her first.
One day, while you were at Seonghwa's place with Eunji, you received a text from your landlady, and dread settled in your stomach. She demanded that you return home to speak with her, which was unusual. You quickly thought up an excuse to tell Seonghwa, explaining that you had to run somewhere quickly.
He looked concerned, sensing that something was amiss, and his worry for you was evident in his eyes.
After you left, he couldn't resist the nagging feeling that something wasn't quite right. He decided to check your backpack, where you kept your clothes and necessities for staying the night. That's when he discovered your unpaid bills, debt statements, and financial struggles laid bare before him.
He cursed himself for not realising the extent of your financial difficulties sooner. The truth hit him like a punch to the gut. You were still struggling, and he couldn't stand by and let you bear that burden alone.
Your heart dropped like a stone the moment you arrived home. There, you found all your belongings packed up in boxes, scattered messily outside of your unit, "W-what's the meaning of this, Mrs. Lee?"
The landlady stood in the centre of the chaos, her hands propped on her hips, a furious look on her face. She didn't waste any time expressing her anger, "Are you really asking me that?" She scoffed, "You didn't pay rent for two months. Did you think I was going to let you leech off me like that?"
You were in a state of panic, rushing up to her, your eyes darting around to take in the disarray. You began to explain your situation, your voice trembling, "But you said you understood when I told you I've been saving up to pay you all at once by the end of this month. You know my niece and Iâ"
She sighed, lifting a hand to stop you.
"Enough with the pity party. You always use the kid as an excuse. I've had it. I've already found a new tenant who will pay more than you. They're moving in tomorrow. So, take your things and leave."
You dropped to your knees in desperation, pleading with her not to do this, your voice quivering.
It was at this moment that Seonghwa arrived with Eunji in his arms. His eyes widened in shock as he took in the scene, and his expression quickly shifted from surprise to anger as he overheard the last cruel sentence uttered by the landlady.
With his nostrils flaring in anger, he marched up to you and gently helped you up from the ground, all while maintaining his composure for the child's sake. Then, he handed Eunji over to you.
Your niece quickly reached up to wipe away your tears with her tiny hands. She asked you not to cry, and you sniffled in response, trying to assure her that everything would be okay.
Meanwhile, Seonghwa turned to confront the landlady.
His voice was firm but never raised, "Mrs. Lee," He began, "I understand that there have been issues with rent, but it's crucial to remember the legal obligations here. Regardless of the situation, you must provide proper notice and follow due process for eviction."
She seemed taken aback by his confidence and knowledge, "Well, I didn't know that, but I've already found someone else willing to pay more for the unit. I can't just let her stay here."
Seonghwa remained unwavering, "I'm not suggesting that you should let the situation continue as it is, but there's a proper way to go about this. You can't just throw them out onto the street. They need time to find a new place."
He continued, "If you follow the right procedures, both parties can come to a mutually agreeable solution without any legal issues. Trust me; I know a thing or two about these matters."
The landlady hesitated, realising that your boyfriend was not to be underestimated, "Well," She muttered, "I didn't know about all that. I'll give you a week to sort things out, but that's it. The new tenant is moving in after that."
He nodded, his demeanour still steady, "Thank you, Mrs. Lee. I'm sure we can come to an arrangement within the given time frame."
You glanced at Seonghwa with gratitude in your eyes, knowing that he just bought you some valuable time to find a new place to live without the immediate pressure of eviction.
As he helped you carry your belongings back into the unit, you couldn't bear to look him in the eye. You felt ashamed and overwhelmed by your financial struggles. He knew something was wrong when you turned your gaze away from him, he sighed and gathered you into his arms.
It was the comforting, secure embrace you needed, and it didn't take long for your tears to start flowing against his shoulder. He gently pressed your head into the crook of his neck, his warm breath caressing your ear.
"Why didn't you tell me you were struggling so much financially?" He whispered softly, his heart aching as he held you.
You sobbed and pulled away slightly, your tear-streaked face revealing your vulnerability, "I'm sorry, Hwa," You choked out, "I didn't mean to hide things from you, but I really didn't want to burden you any more than I already have."
Seonghwa shook his head and cupped your tear-stained cheeks, looking into your eyes with genuine concern, "Listen to me," He said, his voice firm yet tender, "You are not a burden. I'm willing to do anything, including providing for you and Eunji. I want you to come to me for help anytime you need it, you hear me?"
Your heart swelled with emotion, and you bit your trembling lip, tears trickling out the sides of your eyes as you nodded slowly.
After you've calmed down, the two of you settled on your bed. Eunji was taking a little nap, giving you both a moment of privacy. You sat there, staring at the boxes of your belongings and feeling overwhelmed by the uncertainty of your future.
"What am I going to do?" You whispered, the weight of your situation pressing down on you.
Your boyfriend reached for your hand and gently squeezed it, "Move in with me... for good." He said with a calm tone.
You snapped your head up to meet his gaze, searching for any signs of reluctance. But all you found in his eyes was sincerity and an earnest desire to share his life with you and your niece. He leaned in, his thumb brushing your knuckles before he brought your hand to his lips and placed a tender kiss on it.
"Please," He implored, "Let me be there for you. It's why I'm here. You and Eunji, you're my everything now, and I can't possibly sit around while you're struggling. Let me take care of you."
A lump formed in your throat as you shifted closer to him, your hand moving to cup his cheek. You croaked out, "I love you, Hwa," His heart melted at your words, and he chuckled tearfully, his eyes filled with affection. He had longed to hear those three words from you, "So, is that a yes?"
You nodded, and you sealed your decision with a gentle kiss. As you pulled away slightly, he couldn't help expressing his love for you, "I love you too, so much that it drives me crazy."
A week later, you and Seonghwa stood side by side in his apartment, gazing around the transformed living space with pride. The place had undergone a subtle but significant makeover, and now it felt more like a warm and welcoming family home.
The interior had brightened considerably, with cheerful colours and playful decorations that were clearly chosen with Eunji in mind. A colourful toy box stood in one corner, overflowing with stuffed animals and games. The walls were adorned with the child's artwork, showcasing her creativity and vibrant imagination.
Your boyfriend has been more than accommodating, allowing both you and Eunji to have a say in how the place was decorated. It was a collaborative effort that turned the apartment into a reflection of your shared love.
He made it clear that he would have been content even if the place had been transformed into a Barbie-themed wonderland.
All that truly mattered was being with you and Eunji.
"Tadaaa~"
Eunji's squeals filled the room as you removed your hands from covering her eyes. She darted around the apartment, pointing out everything that caught her attention. Her infectious excitement made your hearts swell with happiness as she skipped from one corner to another, exploring her new home.
Seonghwa stood beside you, a contented smile gracing his face as he watched your niece's enthusiasm.
Her presence and the shared sense of belonging in this new place filled him with a profound sense of fulfilment. This was not just an apartment; it was a home, a place where your love and family could grow and flourish.
The next day in kindergarten, Eunji's excitement was infectious as she rushed around, handing out invitations to her friends and her beloved second-favourite teacher, Joy. The little ones received their invites with wide eyes and giggles, their youthful enthusiasm matching your niece's.
"Ooh, what's this?" Joy's curiosity got the better of her, and she couldn't resist opening the invitation right there.
Her initial surprise at receiving an invitation turned into a warm smile when she realised it was for your housewarming party. She found it amusing that you were celebrating in such a manner, considering it wasn't a new house but rather a symbol of the new life you, Seonghwa, and Eunji were embarking on together.
She couldn't contain her excitement as she approached Seonghwa with the invitation in hand. Her teasing tone laced with affection, "Why is it that I always have to learn these things from Eunji and not you?"
He rolled his eyes good-naturedly and chuckled, a hint of playfulness in his response, "This is exactly why. You never let me live."
She burst out laughing before getting a little more serious, "Alright, fine. I'll let you off just this once. Can I bring my boyfriend, though?" She asked, her expression eager.
Seonghwa's eyes softened, and he nodded warmly, "Of course, Joy. I'd love to finally meet the poor soul that has to endure you for the rest of his life."
She mockingly smacked his arm, feigning offence, "Yah, Park Seonghwa! I take it back, you'll suffer today."
Meanwhile, your workplace held its own share of celebrations as you handed an invitation to San, your dear friend and colleague. A broad grin stretched across his face as he read the invitation, and he threw an arm over your shoulder, playfully teasing, "Aww, I'm so proud of you, bestie. Look at you, all grown up already."
You wriggled out of his embrace before he had a chance to mess up your hair, retorting, "San, I'm literally older than you."
With a shrug, he quipped, "Does it matter? You'll always be my little baby," He playfully pouted, attempting to look pitiable. But before you could respond, your manager interrupted the exchange with a loud clearing of her throat and a disapproving glare directed at him, "Choi San, this is your last warning," He immediately straightened up and saluted, "Yes, ma'am."
As soon as your manager moved away, he couldn't resist a cheeky comment, "I'm telling you, she has the hots for me," You rolled your eyes and playfully smacked him, "You're ridiculous. If we get fired someday, I'm blaming you."
The weekend had arrived, and your housewarming party was just hours away.
Your heart swelled with happiness as you watched Seonghwa twirl Eunji around the living room. Your niece, dressed in her new Elsa costume, giggled with delight, her laughter filling the room.
While the two of them enjoyed their cute little dance, you were in the kitchen, putting the finishing touches on the food spread. The aroma of homemade dishes wafted through the air, making the atmosphere feel even more inviting.
The excitement was palpable as you glanced around the room, taking in the decorations, the array of snacks, and the cosy ambience you worked hard to create. Everything was ready, and you couldn't wait for your friends to arrive, celebrating not just a new house, but a new chapter in your life with Seonghwa and Eunji.
One by one, the guests arrived.
The first to arrive were Joy and her boyfriend, Hyoseob. You greeted them with a warm smile, "Oh Joy, I'm so happy you could make it!" She beamed in response, giving you a hug, "Of course, I wouldn't miss it for the world."
Seonghwa, always quick with a teasing remark, couldn't resist the chance to rib Joy about her relationship, "Ah, you must be the famous Shin Hyoseob. Just so you know, Joy never shuts up about you, like ever." This was his chance to get her back for all the times she's relentlessly tormented him about your relationship at work.
Not long after, San arrived, and he immediately scooped up Eunji in his arms, causing her to giggle with delight.
He joined the group, and you introduced him to your boyfriend's colleague. As predicted by Seonghwa, San and Joy hit it off right away, chatting and laughing as if they'd been friends for years.
Soon, Eunji's friends began to arrive one by one, and the house filled with laughter and the joyful chaos of children running about. You would have panicked had it not been for Seonghwa and Joy's expertise in having so many kids under control, the two of them kept a constant watchful eye to ensure they didn't cause any trouble.
The party was now in full swing, and it was a heartwarming sight to see everyone come together to celebrate this special day with you and your little family.
As you sat with the adults at the dining table, your attention kept drifting to your niece, who was happily playing with her friends in the living room.
A bittersweet ache tugged at your heart as you thought about your sister and how she would feel about the life you've created for her daughter. You wondered if she was looking down on you, proud of the strength you'd shown and the love you'd poured into raising Eunji after her passing.
Just a year ago, if someone told you that your life would be this full of love and happiness, you might have thought them delusional.
But now, surrounded by all the people you loved, you felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude. Your life was filled with friends who had become like family, a beautiful niece who brought joy into your world, and a man who had become your partner in this journey.
Seonghwa noticed your silence and the distant look in your eyes. He slid his hand into yours, capturing your attention as you turned to look at him, "You okay?" He asked, concern evident in his eyes. To you, he felt like a guardian angel, sent by your sister to protect you and bring happiness into your life.
You nodded and offered a small smile, "I'm fine."
He wasn't entirely convinced, but he smiled back at you and leaned in to place a gentle peck on your temple. His affectionate gesture didn't go unnoticed by your friends, who couldn't resist teasing you both, causing your cheeks to flush with a lovely shade of embarrassment.
As the party came to an end and the last of the guests had left, you began the routine of settling your niece for the night. After a warm, relaxing shower, you tucked her into bed.
Eunji grinned up at you, her eyes sparkling with excitement, "Aunty, that was the bestest party ever!" She exclaimed. You chuckled, leaning in closer to her, "Really? Are you happy?" She nodded enthusiastically, her little face glowing with happiness, "Yes, I love it very, very much!" You gently stroked her cheek and gazed at her lovingly, "And I love you very, very much."
Unbeknownst to you, Seonghwa had been quietly watching the interaction between you two from the room's entrance. His heart never failed to flutter every time he witnessed the bond between you and your niece.
Eunji let out a huge yawn, and you patted her stomach, indicating it was time for bed, "All right, off to bed with you."
The child giggled and nodded, snuggling under her blanket, "Goodnight, aunty. I love you very, very much too."
Hearing those words from her, even though she has said them many times before, touched your heart in a different way. You leaned down, brushing a soft kiss on her forehead, "Goodnight, sweetheart. I love you more." Your words held the promise of endless love and protection, and Eunji drifted off to sleep with a smile on her face.
Later that night, as you finished up your skincare routine in your shared room, Seonghwa approached you, his arms wrapping around your waist as he rested his chin on your shoulder. His concern was evident in his voice as he spoke, "Are you alright, love?"
You smiled, appreciating how well he knew you. Pulling off your face mask and tossing it aside, you turned to face him.
"Nothing ever goes past you, huh?"
Your boyfriend shook his head, his eyes filled with understanding and affection, "Nope, not when it comes to you, you know that," You wrapped your arms around his neck, deciding to open up about what has been on your mind, "I thought about my sister a lot today."
He tightened his embrace, knowing that this was a sensitive and emotional topic for you, "I was thinking about how she'd feel if she could see where her daughter is today and if she'd be proud of me."
Moving one hand to cup your face, he spoke, "I don't need to be your sister to know that she would be so proud of you. There's no one else who could love and care for her daughter more than you." You felt your heart swell with love for the amazing man who stood before you.
As you chuckled and nuzzled into his touch, you playfully admitted, "I was also convinced that you're my guardian angel sent by her."
Seonghwa grinned, maintaining the playful tone, "Aw man, that was our secret. How did you find out?"
Your laughter filled the room, and he watched you with adoration. Once you've calmed down, you whispered, "I love you so much, Hwa. I can't believe you're really mine," He leaned in closer, his eyes filled with warmth and affection, "Well, you better believe it because I love you even more."
With those sweet words, he pressed his lips firmly onto yours, sealing your love and commitment to each other. In that tender moment, you both knew that you'd found something truly special in each other, something that would last a lifetime.
Am I the only one who thinks Seonghwa is literally husband material? I doubt it but good GOD, does this man make me yearn for marriage and motherhood. Y'all know I'm lying to myself when I say I'm not a whole ass simp for him.
Hope y'all enjoyed and as always, would love to hear all your thoughts on the story, so feel free to leave as many replies as you want! <3

For most people, the one constant in their lives is their best friend and for you, it was no different. Meeting Yumi on the playground in elementary school would bring with it not only a friendship that would last but it would also bring with it your first love.
Yumi was the middle of three children. She had a younger brother, Gunho, who always annoyed her whenever you came over, wanting to join in on whatever the two of you were doing. Typical kid brother stuff she told you. Gunho wasnât as insufferable as Yumi made him out to be and he was nice enough so you werenât really that bothered by his presence.
Yumi also had an older brother, Yunho. He was in middle school the first time you met him, though you and Yumi werenât that far behind him. Yunho was polite and friendly towards you while simultaneously teasing and taunting Yumi, something she said was also typical brother behavior.
You first realized you had a crush on Yunho when you started middle school and saw him in the hallways between classes. You could feel it whenever he smiled or laughed at something his friends said, or the way he went out of his way to make sure you made it home safe before walking Yumi home.
Your crush on him blossomed and grew even into high school. Even when it became clear that he didnât see you that way, you still hoped in the back of your mind that Yunho might notice you or that he felt the same way but then he graduated and was off to college.
You hoped that with him gone, you might finally be able to move on and for a bit, you did.
Until he came back from college for winter break.Â
Seeing Yunho even more grown up stirred up all the old feelings you thought youâd buried, and you were reduced to a bumbling mess when you walked in on him, shirtless, in the kitchen in the middle of the night when you were looking to get a bottle of water.
As quickly as he came back, Yunho was gone again, off to college. When you graduated, you and Yumi chose to attend the same college, one Yunho didnât go to. Another year and another winter break, Yunho returned once again bringing with him a girlfriend this time.
Seeing Yunho with someone who wasnât you gave you the final push you needed to move on.
Or so you thought.
When Yumi asked you a week ago to join her family on a trip to the Swiss Alps as your family decided to spend the winter in the heat of Australia, it didnât dawn on you that a family trip meant Yunho would be there too. You were mad at the way your body betrayed your years of repression, heart skipping a beat upon seeing him now, years later.
Heâd matured into a very handsome man, taller than you remembered with broad shoulders. His hair had finally returned to its natural color after he experimented in college with bleach and bright colors. You fondly remembered the time he came home during break with bright blue hair and nearly gave his mother a heart attack. While you thought he looked good in any color, youâd always had a soft spot for his natural hair.
As you approached the group, you saw Yunho wasnât alone.
Heâd brought a new girlfriend who you learned was named Seomi.
You smiled politely when you greeted the pair and had you been paying attention at all, you would have noticed the way Yunhoâs eyes lingered a little longer on you as you turned to greet your best friendâs parents. It had been some time since youâd seen the brothers and even Gunho had grown up and was starting to look a lot like Yunho, tall but not as tall as the giant of the family.
The flight to Zurich was a long one and thankfully, you had one layover in Istanbul which was an experience in itself but after a few hours, you were back on a plane bound for Switzerland. The first flight, you sat between Yumi and Gunho but the second flight had you seated next to Yunho by the window while Seomi had the aisle seat.
To say it was awkward was the understatement of the century. You spent most of that leg of the flight trying to sleep or listening to music downloaded to your phone. Whatever you could do to avoid speaking to or looking at Yunho.
Arriving in Zurich made you feel like you were part of a traveling circus; Yumi lost her luggage, Gunho left his carry-on in the overhead compartment and had to go back for it, Seomi misplaced her passport but found it in Yunhoâs bag. It felt like you and your best friendâs parents were the only ones who had it together.
From Zurich, you were to take a bus to the village of Siebnen. The bus ride was mostly quiet, the sun coming up as you drove through the empty streets and slowly made your way out of the city. The village was at the base of the Alps and youâd never seen such tall mountains before.
The sight of the perpetually snow capped mountains looming over the city as the bus headed closer and closer to the next stop had you more and more excited for the trip. You were practically bouncing in your seat next to Yumi who was taken aback by your sudden enthusiasm.
Once you reached the village, your travel group disembarked from the bus and made your way to a car rental place to pick up a van to take up the mountain roads. You were in the very back with Yumi and Gunho with Yunho and Seomi in the middle seats.
The ride up the mountain was just as exciting for you as the bus ride had been and you couldnât stop yourself from staring out the window, taking in the grandeur of it all. The rolling farmland was interspersed with forests as the road wound up the side of the mountain, climbing higher and higher as the road got steeper.
As you passed a small farm, you were whisper-shouting to your best friend about the cute sheep when the van turned onto a road that led into a vast forest. The forest grew more and more dense as you climbed even higher still. There were remnants of snow from the most recent winter storm and before you could ask how much longer, the van turned onto a dirt road, driving a little slower.
You twisted in your seat, trying to catch a glimpse of the lodge where you were to be staying. Yumiâs family had rented a massive lodge for ten days and youâd only learned during the layover that Yumiâs extended family would be there as well.Â
It dawned on you that this would be your first time meeting her cousins, aunts, and uncles.
As the van rolled to a stop, you were far beyond the reaches of your normal excitement as Yunho and Seomi first climbed out, followed by Gunho, Yumi, and finally you were the last to be let out, stumbling as your foot caught on one of the seatbelts. Yunho managed to catch you before you went down.
âWhoa,â he said, chuckling. âSomeone is excited.â
âSorry,â you mumbled, making him chuckle again. âDonât apologize for almost falling,â he replied. âJust be careful,â he added with a wink. You thanked him again and awkwardly scurried away to join the others at the back of the van to collect your luggage.
The lodge was mostly empty, save for a few family members. You followed Yumi to the room you would be sharing for the next ten days which happened to be next to the room Yunho and Seomi were sharing. On the other side of their room was the room where one of Yumiâs aunt and uncle were staying.
Once you had dropped off your luggage, Yumi dragged you down to the main living area to meet the rest of her family. Her aunt and uncle were on her maternal side and they had three kids as well.Â
The eldest was a girl with waist length hair named Haneul. Yumi had told you she was in college. The middle child was a boy named Jun-seo who was in high school, wore glasses and carried his Nintendo switch everywhere. The youngest was in his last year of elementary school and his name was Ju-won.
You greeted them politely but the moment Yunho introduced Seomi, all attention was on her and you were able to breathe easily. You hated attention more than anything and now that the attention was on someone else, you felt a lot better. At least until dinner.
Attention was divided with some focusing on Seomi and wanting to know every little detail about her and Yunhoâs relationship while a few were more interested in Yumiâs best friend from childhood. You answered all the questions thrown at you despite feeling like a blinding spotlight was on you.
The next day brought with it more snow and more family.
This time from Yumiâs fatherâs side. His sister and her husband and their two kids. Twin boys named Kang-min and Jang-min. You learned they were around your age and while being nearly identical, they had vastly different views, opinions, and interests. Kang-min was more the quiet type. He loved sports and academics and was a model student in college. After graduation, he found work as a nutritionist.
Jang-min on the other hand was much louder, more boisterous, and loved a good party. He landed a job as a journalist, writing for an advice column. His interests were more in the home. He loved to cook and bake, and you learned when he had a little too much wine, he got overly friendly.
You found him to be very funny and found his shameless flirting harmless.
Everyone else thought it was kind of funny, too. Well, almost everyone.
Yunho made his distaste of Jang-minâs actions known pretty quickly when he noticed Jang-minâs hand lingering on your knee a little too long. He didnât even hide it, instead calling his cousin out in front of the whole family.
âIs it really appropriate for you to be touching her like that?â he asked his cousin as the latter leaned against you, his hand perched on your knee as he laughed at a joke you made. The laughter subsided almost instantly and Jang-min looked at his cousin with wide eyes.
âWhat?â he asked. Yunho glared at the younger man. âJust keep your hands to yourself,â he retorted. âSheâs not your family. You canât just touch people like that.â You felt your heart sink, not for yourself but for Jang-min who recoiled, crossing his arms over his chest immediately.
âYunho,â his mother chastised. âJang-min didnât do anything wrong,â she continued. âAnd Y/N didnât say anything about it bothering her,â Yumi added, turning to look at you. âWas it bothering you or making you uncomfortable?â she asked softly. You shook your head. âNo,â you replied.
âJang-minâs just a touchy person. I get like that sometimes when I drink,â you added.
Yunho said nothing, instead excused himself and got up from the circle, heading upstairs, Seomi on his heels.
That wasnât the first time Yunho had told off one of his cousins for getting too close to you. He did the same thing a couple days later. The parents had all gone to bed as had the young ones leaving you, Yumi, Yunho, Seomi, the twins, Haneul, and Gunho sitting around the fire pit outside on the patio.
Instead of wine, Yumi and Haneul had gotten into the liquor stash and made drinks while the others had opted to drink beer. After Jang-min had gotten another scolding from Yunho for his behavior, the younger man had picked a spot furthest from where you sat, putting you between Gunho and Yumi. You were nursing your drink when Haneul spoke up.
âWhy donât we play a game,â Haneul said, looking around the circle. You glanced at Yumi who nodded. âWhat did you have in mind?â she asked excitedly. âI swear if you say Truth or Dare, Iâm out of here,â Yunho grumbled, Seomi flashing him a smile.
âTruth or Dare is so juvenile,â she added with a nod. You looked away from them to Haneul who seemed to be deep in thought. âWhat about Paranoia?â you offered, regretting it the moment seven pairs of eyes landed on you. âWhatâs that?â Kang-min asked, leaning forward to see you better around his twin.
âItâs a party game,â Jang-min answered quickly. âYou sit in a circle and one person whispers a question into another personâs ear and then that person has to answer the question out loud for everyone to hear. It has to be a question about someone in the group like âwho do you think gives the best hugsâ or something similar. And then if you want to find out the answer, you have to drink and then ask. If the person doesnât want to tell you the question, they also have to drink,â he explained.
âSounds complicated,â Kang-min murmured. You wracked your brain for another game. âOh!â Yumi said quickly. âWhat about Ring of Fire?â You let out a laugh. You knew all too well what Ring of Fire was as you had both played it a lot back in college. âIf we want to play that, weâre gonna need to go inside,â you reminded her. âWe have to sit at the table.â
Yunho glanced up at you and then to his sister. âIâm down,â he replied, looking at Seomi. âYou want to go in? It is kinda getting cold out here.â Seomi nodded. âYeah,â she answered. âLetâs go in.â
Once the fire had been dealt with, the group moved inside, sitting around the table while you and Yumi worked to set up the game. You found a pack of cards in one of the end tables in the living room while Yumi hunted for a large cup. Once you had your supplies, you started setting up.
âHas anyone played this before?â Yumi asked as she set the cup in the center. You noticed everyone shaking their heads as you cut the deck and set the cards in piles face down around the cup in the center. âEveryone is going to need full drinks,â you explained.
There was a brief pause as everyone grabbed refills. Once they were all sitting back down, you and Yumi took turns explaining the rules of the game.
âIf you draw an Ace, thatâs âwaterfall.â Going around the circle clockwise,â Yumi explained, drawing a circle in the air with her finger. âEach player starts drinking their drink consecutively and you have to keep going until the player before you stops.â
âIf you draw a two of any suit, thatâs the âyouâ card. You point at someone else to take a drink. Likewise, if you draw the three of any suit, thatâs the âmeâ card and you have to take a drink,â you continued. Yumi nodded and continued the explanation. âIf someone draws a four, thatâs the âgirlsâ card and all girls have to take a drink.â
âThatâs kind of sexist,â Haneul complained but Seomi waved her off. âItâs just a game,â she replied. âFive is the âthumb master.â Whoever draws this card has to discreetly put their thumb up which everyone has to copy. The last person with their thumb up has to take a drink,â Yumi continued.
âHow many rules are there?â Kang-min asked. âAs many types of cards there are,â Yumi said with a shrug. âSix is the âboysâ card and all boys have to take a drink. Seven is the âheavenâ card, which is similar to thumb master only you have to point up to the sky. Last one to do it has to drink,â you continued.
âWhatâs eight?â Seomi asked. âEight is âmate,ââ Yumi answered. âWhatâs that?â Seomi asked, tilting her head to the side like a curious puppy. âYou pick someone to be your âmate,ââ you answered. âIf you have to drink, so do they for the rest of the game.â
You didnât miss the way Seomi flashed Yunho a mischievous grin.
âNine is the ârhymeâ card: if you draw this card, you have to pick a word and then we go around the table and everyone has to come up with a word that rhymes with that word. Ten is the âcategoryâ card. You pick a category and everyone has to name something in that category, anyone who canât come up with something for either nine or ten has to drink,â you added.
âOkay, so what is Jack?â Yunho asked, looking up at you. âMake a rule,â Yumi answered. âYou get to make up a rule or forfeit that has to be obeyed throughout the game. Itâs sort of a power card,â she explained. âAnd Queen?â Yunho asked again, his eyes still on you. âQuestion Master,â Yumi answered quickly. âYou have to ask the others questions and they have to answer with a question. Whoever doesnât answer with a question has to drink.â
Yunho nodded, eyes still on you. âAnd what about King?â he asked. âFill up the cup,â you answered, nodding at the cup in the middle. âPour some of your drink into the glass and whoever draws the fourth king has to chug the entire contents.â
Yunhoâs lips twitched into a smirk. âOkay,â he said, sitting up and looking down at the cards in front of him.
âLetâs play.â
The first round was a mess, trying to re-explain the rules of the game each time a card was drawn that you resorted to writing the rules down for each person who asked for clarification. The second round was a lot better. You drew a six and laughed, pointing at Jang-min who playfully glared at you as he took a drink.
When it got to Yunho, he pulled the 8 of diamonds. Seomi glanced up at him, expecting him to pick her but was surprised when Yunho instead picked you. âNow you have to drink every time Yunho does,â Yumi said as Seomi picked up a card. She drew a two of Hearts and immediately pointed at you.
You raised your glass and took a drink without complaint. Yumi had mixed something together and it tasted amazing. It was so good you werenât sure if there was even any alcohol in it. âYour turn Kang-min!â Seomi said, positively beaming as she smiled at him.
Kang-min drew the first King of the night, grimacing as he reached over to pour some of his beer into the glass. âUgh, this is gonna be so gross,â Gunho said when he pulled a king from a different pile and poured some of his drink into the cup.
Haneul drew a ten of Clubs and pondered for a moment before calling out her category. âChristmas movies!â she said excitedly, turning to look at Yumi. âElf,â Yumi answered, turning to you. âJingle All the Way,â you said softly. Gunho said Miracle on 34th Street and it continued back around to you.
âDie Hard,â you blurted out. Seomi pointed at you. âDrink! Thatâs not a Christmas movie!â she said excitedly. âYes it is,â you replied. Seomi shook her head. âNo itâs not! Itâs an action movie,â she argued. âThat takes place during Christmas,â you added. âItâs a Christmas movie.â
Seomi turned to Yunho for help but he merely shrugged. âSheâs got a point,â he said with a chuckle. âItâs also listed as a Christmas movie on Hulu,â Jang-min offered. âItâs your turn Gunho,â Yunho said, looking at his younger brother. âHome Alone,â he said without hesitation. âNightmare Before Christmas,â Yunho said, turning to Seomi who hesitated.
She took too long because Yumi, Jang-min and Haneul all pointed at her. âDrink!â they said in unison. Seomi begrudgingly took a drink and glared at Yumi who shrugged. âThemâs the rules,â she said, unphased. âItâs just a game, babe,â Yunho said softly, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder.
The next couple rounds had Gunho pulling thumb master, Yunho drawing the Me card which you had to drink with him. Yumi drew the third king and poured half of what remained in her cup into the center cup. You held your breath as you drew a card and sighed with relief at the little nine looking back at you.
âNine,â you announced, flashing the card. You pondered for a moment, trying to come up with a good word to make everyone rhyme with. âDime,â you said, looking at Gunho who stared at you. âLike, the currency?â he asked, making sure he heard you right. You nodded. âLime,â he continued, turning to Yunho. âCrime,â he stated, turning to Seomi. âGrime,â she said, looking you directly in the eye.
âChime,â Jang-min chirped, turning to his twin. âIâm,â he said, looking proud of himself. âMime,â Haneul said excitedly, turning to Yumi. âPrime!â Yumi shouted, apologizing when several shushed her. âClimb,â you said, turning to Gunho. âRhyme,â he said smugly. Yunho chuckled and shook his head. âSublime,â he continued. âTime,â Seomi said quickly.
It continued back around to you. âThyme,â you said softly. âThe herb,â you added. âLyme,â Gunho said. âLike the disease,â he clarified, making you and Yumi burst into laughter. Yunho fought the urge to laugh as he stammered out âslime.â It fell to Seomi again who froze. âOh shit,â she cursed softly, lifting her glass to take a drink. âWe kind of exhausted all the options,â Jang-min said with a laugh.
Gunho pulled the eight of clubs and pointed at Yunho. âDoesnât that mean whenever I drink, Yunho and Y/N have to drink?â he asked, looking past you at Yumi. âLike a chain reaction or something?â Yumi nodded. âIt does!â she answered. âSorry Y/N,â she added with a smirk.
When it came around to you again, you luckily pulled the eight of Hearts and smirked at your best friend. âAlright, mate,â you said with an evil grin. Yumi groaned loudly. âI knew youâd do that,â she grumbled as Gunho pulled the three of Diamonds. âAlright drinking buddies, letâs go,â he said, taking a drink. Yunho followed, as did you, then Yumi.
Yunho pulled the four of Spades and laughed maniacally. âYou have to drink twice, Yumi,â he said, sticking his tongue out at his sister. She glared at him but did as he said. Seomi pulled her card and stared at it for a solid six seconds before Yunho glanced at it and gasped.
âShe pulled the last king,â he said softly. âOh⊠looks like you gotta chug the drink in the middle!â Jang-min said excitedly while Kang-min looked on with mild curiosity and disgust. Seomi took a deep breath but as she reached for the cup, Yunho took it instead. âIâll drink it for her,â he said, lifting the glass. âSheâs got a weak stomach. I donât want you getting sick,â he added in a soft tone, looking at her.
Yunho downed the contents quickly, grimacing as he set the glass down. âAlright,â he said, coughing. âIs that game?â he asked, looking around. You glanced at Yumi who looked back and shrugged. âWe could keep going,â she suggested. âUntil all the cards are gone.â
You shook your head. âLetâs just call it there,â you suggested. âThe Kingâs cup is gone,â you added. âWe could always shuffle the king cards back in,â Jang-min suggested but you shook your head. âItâs okay,â you said as Seomi started to get up. âLetâs call it a night. We have plans tomorrow anyway,â Yumi said.
The group split up, heading to their respective rooms to get ready for bed.
The next morning, Yumi woke you up early so you could shower before the trip into the nearby town. According to her, it was a small picturesque town, already decorated for the holidays. You both dressed in silence, heading down to the dining room for breakfast.
Yunho was already sitting at the table, Seomi sitting next to him with her arms crossed over her chest, a slight pout on her face. âMorning,â Yumi said as she took a seat, leaving an open seat next to Yunho. Rather than taking it, you sat on the other side of your best friend.
It didnât take long for the rest of the family to join you, Haneul sitting beside you while Gunho took the seat between his sister and brother. Breakfast went by in mostly silence as everyone was still waking up and eating. After eating, you followed Yumi back up to the room to finish getting ready for the day.
Once everyone was ready, you all piled into the vans outside and headed for the village. The drive down didnât take that long and soon, you were looking out the windows, catching glimpses of the architecture, roofs blanketed in snow, and holiday decorations everywhere.
You were in the very back again, this time with Yunho and Seomi while Gunho and Yumi sat in the middle seats. Yunho sat in the middle, you on his left, and Seomi to his right. You opted to stare out the window the whole time as to not stare at Yunho or make eye contact.
Last night, the way he stared at you while you explained the rules of the game stirred something inside you and you didnât really want to revisit whatever it was that was coming back to life inside. Not to mention the way your heart jumped into your throat every time his thigh brushed against yours on the bumpy mountain road.
Once you were in town, vans parked, You scrambled out with the others and gathered around so the older adults could explain the rules. You were allowed to go off on your own and explore but everyone was to meet up for lunch at a specific location. Once this was explained, you were free to go off on your own. You took off with Yumi, Haneul tagging along so she didnât have to go with her brothers or with the twins and Gunho. Yunho and Seomi obviously went off on their own and you were able to breathe easily.
Yumi ended up dragging you and Haneul to a little boutique that caught her eye and although there was nothing you were interested in, it was still fun to watch Yumi and Haneul shop and try things on. After the boutique, you wanted to step into a shop full of crystals and glass to check it out. There was even a demonstration of glass blowing near the back that you couldnât seem to pull yourself from.
Eventually Yumi and Haneul dragged you away and the next shop you stumbled into was a jewelry shop. You were looking at the necklaces with Haneul when you heard her gasp slightly. You looked up and followed her line of sight, spotting what she saw.
Yunho and Seomi.
The latter was looking at rings and you felt your heart stop, bile in your stomach rising as you tasted something sour in the back of your throat. You looked away, not wanting to witness whatever was going on over there as Haneul waved frantically at Yumi, drawing her over so she could point.
Yumi stared in awe before grabbing both you and Haneul and dragged you out of the shop onto the sidewalk to peer through the window. âIs Yunho going to propose?â Haneul asked softly as she stared into the shop. Yumi shook her head. âI have no idea. I donât even know how long theyâve been dating,â she answered. âIt canât have been long because Iâve never heard about her before.â
You tore your gaze from the couple inside the shop, your eyes landing on a bookstore nearby. âHey,â you said softly, tapping your best friend on the shoulder. âIsnât the twinsâ birthday coming up soon?â you asked. Yumi turned to look at you. âYeah. Which reminds me, I need to get them gifts.â
You pointed at the bookstore. âKang-min likes books, right?â you asked. Yumi nodded. âYeah, mainly manga but he also likes horror books,â she answered. âLetâs go in there. Let Yunho and Seomi have their privacy,â you suggested. The other two thankfully listened and the three of you headed across the busy street to the bookstore.
After the bookstore, the three of you stopped by a small courtyard with all kinds of statues. Yumi wanted to take some pictures and you obliged as the three of you squeezed together to fit in the cameraâs view. As the day wore on, your stomach started to rumble and Haneul complained of being hungry. Checking her watch, Yumi saw that it was almost 1 pm and looked at her phone.
âWe should probably head for the restaurant,â she said softly. The three of you headed back, walking down the busy sidewalk, chatting. It was mostly Haneul and Yumi chatting as you couldnât get the image of Yunho and Seomi in the jewelry shop out of your head.
You thought you were past this. The fluttering of your heart when he was around was one thing, but getting so jealous it made you nauseous was another thing entirely. Youâd never once felt that way before. It made you wonder what was wrong with you. Yunho wasnât yours and he never would be but you still couldnât let go of these feelings.
âY/N?â you heard Yumiâs voice pull you from your thoughts. âYou alright?â she asked. The two of them had stopped and were looking at you with concern. âIâm okay,â you murmured. âJust feeling a little nauseous,â you added. âYou want to go back to the lodge?â Yumi asked. You shook your head.
âIâm sure itâll go away when I eat.â
You didnât want to ruin the trip because of your unbridled jealousy so for the sake of your best friend, youâd swallow it and suck it up. Youâd have to at some point.
The restaurant was a cozy place with a lot of nordic patterns. The three of you were shown to a backroom where the rest of the family was already gathered. The only three seats left were between Yunho and Jang-min. Before you could ask Haneul to switch you, she sat down next to her cousin while Yumi took the seat next to her.
âFuck.â
You moved and sat between your best friend and her brother, trying not to look at him.
Immediately, you picked up your menu and looked over the options. âWhatâre you gonna get?â you heard a voice ask. Looking up, you met Yunhoâs gaze. âIâm not sure yet,â you replied softly, turning your gaze back to the menu. âMaybe the chicken.â
âChicken is always a good choice,â Yunho murmured with a nod as he looked over his own menu. I might get that too,â he added. You said nothing, instead looking at the menu as if you hadnât decided yet. You were just trying to avoid conversation or eye contact with the man next to you.
When the server arrived, you took turns ordering your food and drinks. Once the menus were taken away, everyone fell into comfortable conversation. Everyone except you.
âSo Y/N,â a voice said, snapping you from your thoughts.
You looked up to see half the tableâs eyes were on you. The speaker was Haneul, Jun-seo, and Juwons mother. âHow long have you known Yumi?â she asked. You turned to your best friend before looking back. âSince we were in elementary school,â you answered. âWeâve been friends for years.â
âWhat do you do for work?â
You sat there, answering mundane questions about your life, letting the family get to know you a little more. Most of the questions were tame, consisting of inquiries about your work, your life growing up, your friendship with Yumi. Until someone brought up a question that made you want to sink into the floor.
âAnd you arenât seeing anyone?â
You thought you felt Yunho tense up beside you but it had to have been your imagination. You shook your head. âSheâs been on a few dates here and there since college,â Yumi offered, trying to take the attention off you. âBut she hasnât met the right person yet.â
You were thankful when the conversation shifted to talk about Yumiâs love life, or lack thereof. You had settled back down in your seat and were patiently waiting for your food to arrive so you had an excuse to not answer anymore questions.
âAre you okay?â you heard Yunho ask softly. Looking up, you met his gaze and nodded wordlessly, looking away from him. âIâm fine,â you lied with a forced smile. Whether or not Yunho bought your act you wouldnât know because before he could respond, the server returned with a few others, bringing your plates out.
The arrival of the food meant most of the party was eating rather than talking. It was a nice reprieve and you hoped soon that you could return to the lodge and call it a day. Seomi and Yunho were speaking in hushed tones before Yunho shook his head and Seomi got up, excusing herself to go to the bathroom. Yunho excused himself and got up to follow.
You exchanged glances with Yumi who shrugged and went back to her food, you following her lead not long after. Yunho returned moments later and sat back down, looking mildly annoyed at something. You took it upon yourself to check on him this time.
âEverything alright?â you asked softly, making sure not to draw any attention. Yunho gave you a smile and shook his head. âDonât worry about it,â he said just as softly. âItâs nothing,â he added. You chose not to push it and resumed picking at your food, most of your appetite having left soon after your food arrived.
âYou want to get it to go?â Yumi asked as the server eventually returned with the check and to go boxes. You nodded and thanked her as she handed you a box. You said nothing as you scooped your mostly uneaten chicken pasta into the box and closed the lid, setting the plate aside and waiting for the group to start making its way to the exit.
Seomi finally returned and declined to take her leftovers, leaving her meal mostly uneaten at the table.
Once the bill was settled, you followed the group out the door, Yumi at your side and slowly made your way back to the parking lot where the vans were sitting. The ride back out of town and to the lodge was quiet and you chose to sit in the middle seat with Yumi while Yunho, Seomi, and Gunho sat in the back.
Upon arriving back at the lodge, you followed Yumi inside, putting your food in the fridge and headed upstairs to shed your layers and put on some more comfortable clothes. Once you were done, you joined the group downstairs as they sat near the fireplace while Mr. Jeong got a fire going.
You watched the younger boys play before Mrs. Jeong and Haneulâs mother called out that the hot chocolate was ready. Yumi offered to get you a mug but you declined before telling your best friend you had to use the bathroom. On your way to the room, you passed Yunho and Seomiâs room and heard them arguing in hushed tones. You werenât sure what was being said but you didnât stick around, walking to the bathroom and shutting the door quickly.
After finishing your business, you opened the door and bumped into Seomi who glared at you. âWatch where youâre going,â she snapped. Before she could push past you into the bathroom you stopped her. âThen donât stand in the middle of the door when I open it like some sort of creep,â you snapped back and walked past her, passing Yunho who stared at you as you walked by.
You didnât see the way he looked after you as you reached the top of the stairs before you headed back down, nor did you see the way he glared at Seomi. Back downstairs, you took up your previous spot beside Yumi. âEverything okay?â Yumi murmured as you grabbed the blanket on her lap and pulled some of it over you while nodding.
Soon, the parents were rounding everyone up to play charades. You were put on a team with Yumi, Yunho, Seomi, Gunho, and Mr. and Mrs. Jeong. You werenât entirely in the game and after the first round, you excused yourself, getting up and heading upstairs with the excuse that you had a headache.
Only a few minutes later, Yumi joined you, asking once again if you were okay. You lied and said you were and that you just wanted to rest and get some shut eye because of your headache. She offered to get you some water and aspirin which you thanked her for.
Once you took the medicine and drank some of the water, you settled down in your bed and closed your eyes, drowning out the sound of excited yelling downstairs.
At some point, you passed out and when you awoke, your phone told you it was nearly midnight. You heard Yumi groan as she rolled over. âReally? This is a family vacation,â you heard her grumble in the dark. It was then you were made aware of the squeaking sounds and slight knocking that you assumed was from a bedframe hitting the wall and you felt your stomach churn.
It sounded like it was coming from the next room over which was⊠Yunho and Seomiâs room.
âGross,â Yumi grumbled. You pulled back the covers and got up slowly. Yumi turned over and looked at you from the moonlight filtering between the curtains. âWhere are you going?â she asked suspiciously. âWater,â you croaked, grabbing your empty glass and got up, pushing open the door and shutting it behind you out of respect.
In the hall the sounds were a little louder and you hurried down to the first floor, trying not to imagine what exactly was happening in the room next to yours only to freeze upon seeing Yunho standing in the kitchen, light from the fridge illuminating his figure. He turned and noticed you standing in the darkness.
âHey,â he said softly. You forced yourself to move, walking around him to the sink. âI thought you wereâŠâ you trailed off as he grabbed the milk out of the fridge and moved to pour some over his cereal sitting on the counter. He put the carton back and shut the door before moving to turn on the light over the sink. âThought I was what?â he asked, grabbing a spoon and sitting at the counter.
You shook your head and moved to get some ice from the fridge. âI heard noises,â you admitted. Yunho snorted and you turned to face him. âThatâs coming from my aunt and uncleâs room,â he admitted. It woke me up and so I thought Iâd come down here and have some cereal,â he added.
âHoped they might be done by the time I finish and head back.â
You nodded and turned away to get some water. Silence fell over the two of you as you sipped on your water and Yunho ate his cereal. Finally he spoke, breaking the tension. âYouâve really grown up,â he muttered and you looked up to find him staring down at his bowl.
âI almost didnât recognize you,â he added with a chuckle. âI was going to say your boyfriend is a lucky guy until it was revealed earlier that you donât have one,â he continued. You said nothing instead holding your glass firmly as he continued to eat his cereal.
The only sounds that could be heard were the heater working to keep the house warm, the crunch of Yunhoâs cereal and the slight squeaking and knocking coming from upstairs. âYou really donât have a boyfriend?â he asked finally, looking up. You shook your head.
âNo,â you replied.
More silence followed your admission. You fought the urge to add that no man ever compared to him but you knew that would be crossing a line and you could never come back from that. Better to just let it go and move on. Let him propose to Seomi in peace and move on with his life and be happy.
He deserved that.
âWhat about a girlfriend?â he asked, throwing you completely off guard. He looked up to meet your gaze. You stared back at him in stunned silence. âGirlfriend? Did he think you wereâŠ?â You shook your head. âN-no,â you replied. Yunho shrugged. âI wouldnât judge you if you did,â he added.
You shook your head more firmly. âNo,â you replied. âItâs not like that,â you continued. âIâm just not interested in anyone right now.â
âAnyone who isnât you.â
âOh.â Yunho said, getting up from his seat. Heâd finished his cereal and the sounds upstairs had finally subsided. How long had you been standing there in silence? How much time had passed since you came downstairs?
Yunho stopped in front of you, reaching around to place his bowl in the sink. âSo thereâs really no one?â he asked softly. You shook your head, looking up at him. He smiled softly. âGood,â he said firmly, making you tilt your head slightly.
âBoys suck,â he added and you couldnât help but laugh at this. It was a sound Yunho hadnât heard in a long time. A sound that he didnât realize he missed dearly. How much of a fool heâd been for trying to stay away from you these last few years.
âWe saw you today,â you blurted out suddenly, taking both yourself and Yunho by surprise.
âSaw me?â he asked. âWhere?â
Youâd already blurted it out, you might as well be honest.
âIn a jewelry shop,â you answered. âYumi wanted to look at something in there and we saw you and Seomi. She was looking at ringsâŠâ your voice trailed off. Yunho stared at you, unable to read your expression. âI was looking for a gift for my mother for Christmas,â he admitted.
You suddenly felt very small and stupid for saying anything. âOf course,â you answered. âSorry for assuming,â you said softly before downing your water and turning away. Yunho grabbed your arm gently. âSeomi assumed as much, too,â he admitted. âShe thought we were there for that as well.â
You looked down at his hand gently but firmly holding your arm. âThatâs why she was looking at rings but I told her I wasnât planning on proposing any time soon and that I was there to buy a gift for my mother, and thatâs when she got upset. Thatâs why she was so distant at lunch,â he added.
You nodded silently. He didnât need to tell you any of this. Why was he telling you this? Yunho let go of your arm. âSorry,â he apologized suddenly. âI donât know why Iâm telling you this,â he added. âMaybe itâs because Iâve always felt comfortable with you.â
You glanced up at him, finding him already staring down at you, the dim light over the sink casting him in a low glow. âIâve always found it easy to talk to you,â he added, stepping closer and closing the distance between you, trapping you against the counter.
âIâve always felt like I could tell you anything and you wouldnât judge me,â he explained softly, resting his hands against the edge of the counter on either side of your waist. âLike I could be myself and youâd accept me.â Your heart was hammering in your chest, blood pounding in your ears and almost drowning out his words.
Your breath caught in your throat as he leaned closer, his lips inches from yours.
A door opening upstairs broke the silence and Yunho took a step back immediately. âI should probably get back to bed,â he said as he turned away from you. âWe have a busy day tomorrow,â he added. You watched as he turned to glance back at you before turning away and heading for the stairs, leaving you in the kitchen clutching your water glass as you stared after him.
âWhat the fuck just happened?â
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
The following morning was the ski trip and you were dreading going to begin with. You werenât the best with athletic activities, especially in the snow but Yumi had begged and begged the night before while you lay in your beds until you finally caved.
Now as you were in the back of the van with Yumi and Haneul, you were regretting your decision and would have rather stayed at the lodge and done nothing. The ride to the ski lodge wasnât far thankfully for those that wanted to go skiing but unfortunately for you.
You chose to try skiing with Yumi, Haneul, Yumiâs mother, and Haneulâs mother. Kang-min chose to ski instead of snowboarding with his brother and the others. As you strapped in, you glanced up to where Yunho was helping Seomi into her snowboard boots, making sure they fit.
You were finishing strapping your ski boots on when Yumi sat next to you. âAre you sure you wanna do this?â she asked, a little louder than you would have liked. Yunho and Kang-min both looked up. âYou begged me to do this,â you hissed back. Yumi nodded thoughtfully. âAnd Iâve thought about it but I remembered you arenât the most coordinated on snow or ice.â
You glared at her, cheeks burning. âItâs fine,â you hissed. âYou begged me to come and now weâre here. Iâm not backing down now and ruining the mood.â
You got up and walked over to the instructor to get your skis. You werenât sure why all of the sudden Yumi was asking if you wanted to do this when she was begging you the night before.
Once everyone had the correct gear and was ready, you headed outside and over to the lift that would take you to the top of the slopes. There was an orange partition between the two sides. One side was where the skiers were, to the right the more advanced skiers were flying down the hill whereas to the left, closest to the orange fencing, was where the beginners were.
On the snowboarding side it was almost the same set up but mirrored. You rode the lift up with Yumi and Haneul, holding onto your ski poles nervously as the lift climbed higher and higher. Behind you sat Yunho and Seomi with Gunho and in front of you was the twins and Haneulâs mother.Â
Your best friendâs mother chose to stay at the lodge for the time being.
Once at the top, you scooted off the lift and awkwardly shambled over to the side to wait for the instructor. Kang-min skied over and stopped beside you. âYou okay?â he asked softly. You nodded, staring at the slope. âJust take it little by little,â he offered.
âYou will fall,â he added. âBut it doesnât hurt. The snow is really soft.â You watched as he patted the snow with his ski. âVery powdery. Good skiing conditions.â You smiled at him as the instructor finally arrived. You watched as he explained the basics and let Yumi and Kang-min go first.
âGo slowly,â the instructor said as you moved to the edge of the summit. âTake your time.â You finally took the plunge, pushing yourself over the edge and started sliding down the slope to the first stop. The instructor joined you, commending your form but telling you to uncross your skis.
You tried again, heading down to the next part, cursing as your skis crossed again.
This continued until you reached the bottom.
âYouâre doing really well,â the instructor said. âBut you keep crossing your skis,â he added with a chuckle. âItâs so weird to try and hold them straight,â you admitted. He nodded as he started towards the lift. âYou wanna go again?â he asked.
You werenât looking at him. Instead you were watching Jang-min slide down the slope next to the one youâd just skied down on his snowboard. âCould I switch?â you asked, turning your head. âMaybe snowboarding might be better for me.â The instructor nodded and beckoned you to follow him back to the lodge and inside where you removed your skis and boots. He brought over a pair of snow boots to check the fit before helping you lace them up and make sure they were snug.
Afterwards, he grabbed the snowboard and handed it to you. âYou can put it on at the top,â he said before grabbing his own board, having also switched the skis out. The ride up was silent as you looked around. Yunho and Seomi were at the top, off to the side chatting. When you reached the top, you hopped off the lift and walked over to Jang-min who smiled at you.
âChanged your mind, eh?â he asked as you set the board down and stepped on, watching the instructor make sure your boots were secure. âI couldnât keep my skis straight,â you admitted with a grimace. âYou joined us?â Yunho asked, scooting up to the other side. You nodded as Seomi also joined. âAlright, you three go ahead. Iâm sure she doesnât want you watching her as she goes down,â the instructor said, waving them on.
You watched as they took turns. Jang-min went first and you could see heâd done this plenty of times before. Seomi went next, looking every bit as graceful as Yumi did on skis. Yunho went next, stopping at the peak to look back at you. He gave you a salute. âSee you at the bottom!â
You watched as he went next and you were in awe. You had no idea Yunho was so skilled at snowboarding, pulling tricks youâd only ever seen on TV. You were suddenly very aware that it was your turn next. The instructor had you go first and you half expected to lose your balance and tumble but you were surprised how much easier this was than skiing.
It didnât take you long to get the hang of it and soon you were zooming past the instructor as he laughed. âYouâre a natural at this!â Jang-min complimented as you joined him at the base of the slope. He held up his hand for a high five and you reciprocated as the instructor checked his watch. âI have a class soon,â he announced, looking up at you. âWill you be alright on your own now?â he asked.
âYeah, sheâs got us,â Jang-min said, wrapping an arm around your shoulders.Â
âWeâll keep an eye on her!â
And just like that, you were no longer in need of an instructor. You spent most of the time with Jang-min who was content to join you on the beginner slopes while Yunho and Seomi continued down the intermediate side. Kang-min eventually swapped his skis for a snowboard as well and joined the two of you, taking turns between you and Jang-min
Half the morning had gone by and you were really getting the hang of snowboarding. Yunho called break time and the group headed into the lodge for lunch, shedding your gear by the door. You ordered half a sandwich and a cup of soup, sitting next to Jang-min and Yumi as you excitedly told your success story to your best friend. âMaybe Iâll switch too,â she said with a smile.
âYouâve never even stepped foot on a snowboard,â Gunho said with a snort. Yumi glowered at him. âNeither had Y/N before today,â she snapped back. You nodded. âThereâs no way I believe that,â Yunho said suddenly from the other side of the twins. âYouâre a natural at this.â
Your cheeks grew warm at his compliments and you busied yourself with your soup. âShe really is,â Kang-min chimed in, looking at you with a smile. âSkiing didnât seem to be your strong suit but snowboarding definitely is.â
Heat spread from your cheeks to your ears at the sudden increase of praise thrown your way. Although you typically hated attention, you had to admit that it felt nice to be praised like this from time to time.
After eating, you sat by one of the fires, warming up while letting your food settle.
âI think Kang-min likes you,â Yumi said softly as she sat next to you. Glancing up at your best friend you knitted your brows together. âWhat?â you asked incredulously. She smirked at you, settling back in the seat beside you. âKang-min. Heâs been all over you today,â she said softly. âDonât tell me you havenât noticed.â You shook your head slowly.
âNot really,â you admitted. You glanced over where Kang-min sat with his twin, playing a card game with Gunho and Yunho. You looked away quickly and turned back to your friend. âIâm sure he doesnât,â you replied finally. Yumi shook her head. âHeâs totally into you,â she whispered as Haneul walked over and sat on the ottoman in front of your chair.
âWhoâs into who?â she whispered, looking between the two of you. Shaking your head, you tried to play it off but Yumi jumped at the chance to get a second opinion. âKang-min,â she said flatly under her breath. âIâm pretty sure heâs into Y/N.â Haneulâs brows rose and she looked at you quickly.
âHe is?â she asked, more to you than to your best friend. You shook your head. âI think Yumi is imagining things,â you replied. Your best friend groaned softly and turned to face you. âYou want me to go ask him?â she asked and you slapped her leg. âNo,â you hissed. âI donât want you to ask your cousin if heâs into me. Thatâs so weird!â you hissed.
Yumi shrugged and looked at Haneul. âI donât think itâs that weird but okay,â she replied.
After warming up for a bit, the group decided to head back out again. You pulled your gear back on, slipping into your feet into your boots. As you were lacing them up, Yunho knelt down by your feet. âMake this a little tighter,â he murmured, undoing your work and redoing the laces. âYou want it to be completely tight and snug. Otherwise you could twist your ankle, get blisters, or even break your ankleâ he explained.
âTh-thanks,â you murmured as he looked up at you with a smile. âNo problem,â he said, getting up and heading outside. You stood up, following him with Jang-min and Kang-min behind you. You decided to ride up with the twins while Yumi and Haneul rode up behind you with Haneulâs mother.
At the top, you waited for Jang-min to go first before following him. You wanted to ease back into it so you went a little slower. Kang-min flew past you laughing as he made a beeline for his brother, making you chuckle as you finally reached the bottom.Â
You headed back up, this time letting both Kang-min and Jang-min go first before you started down the hill with Yunho waiting at the top. You decided to go down the big slope like before and were gaining momentum when your eyes caught sight of something sticking out of the snow. Before you could evade, your board struck whatever it was and you went tumbling down with a yelp.
âY/N!â you heard Kang-min yell. Your ankle was throbbing as you tried to roll over. âY/N!â said a panicked voice. âAre you hurt?â You groaned in pain as they grabbed your arm and pulled you up into a sitting position. âMy ankle,â you groaned, the pain shooting up your leg from your ankle.
You felt someone fumbling with your helmet before pulling it off. You looked up, squinting in the bright light at Yunho as he set your helmet aside and looked you over. âYou didnât hit your head did you?â he asked. You shook your head. His hands moved down to unclasp your boots from the snowboard.
âWhere does it hurt?â he asked as Seomi came to a stop nearby. âIs she alright?â she asked. Yunho waved her to go on. âI got this, babe!â he called as he looked up at you. âWhich ankle hurts?â You pointed to your right foot. Yunho was quick, calling for Kang-min and Jang-min to get your gear on their second pass down before unlatching his own snowboard.
âIâm gonna carry you down to the lodge,â he announced. âCome on.â
He knelt down, back facing you so you could climb on. You were hesitant but in the end, you leaned against his back, allowing him to pick you up and carry you on his back down the mountain. You heard Yumi call your name from the base of the ski slope and looked over.
âWhat happened?â she called as she made her way over. âShe took a tumble,â Yunho called back. âIâm taking her inside.â Your cheeks burned as Yunho carried you into the lodge. You were carried inside and taken to the side where Yunho gently set you down and guided you to sit on one of the stools against the side wall. You did as he instructed, watching as he unlaced and carefully pulled your boot off.
Yumi had removed her gear and was moving to sit beside you as Yunho pulled your sock off. âDonât you think a medic should look at her?â Kang-min asked, peering over his cousinâs shoulder at your ankle. âWhat do you think I went to school for?â Yunho huffed as he carefully rolled your ankle.
Seomi was standing nearby, arms crossed over her chest. She didnât look happy.
âWithout x-rays,â Yunho started as you winced. âI canât say for certain but it seems to be sprained,â he said softly. He rolled your ankle in the opposite direction and you let out a whimper. âSorry,â he said softly. âBut itâs definitely sprained at the very least.
You watched as he pressed against the joint gingerly. âI donât feel any popping,â he murmured. âCan you move it yourself?â he asked, smiling slightly when you were able to roll your ankle yourself. âItâs definitely not broken,â he finally said. âWeâre gonna need to stabilize it,â he added.Â
Jang-min hurried off to find an employee and ask for the first-aid kit. They returned and Yunho looked through it. âThereâs nothing in here to stabilize it,â he murmured as he sifted through the contents. âDoes it need to be stabilized?â Yumi asked as her brother looked around. He nodded.
âIt really should be so she doesnât hurt it any further,â he answered. âWill this work?â you heard Yumiâs mother ask and looked up as she pulled out a wooden stick from her purse. âItâs a back scratcher,â she explained. Yunho smiled up at his mother. âThis is perfect,â he said. âThanks, mom.â
You watched as Yunho worked, using the scratcher to stabilize your ankle, wrapping the joint with as much gauze as he could before taping it off and covering the whole thing with your sock. âShe should probably go back to the lodge,â he added as he cleaned up his mess. âI can take her back,â he offered, looking up at Yumi who shook her head. âIâll do it,â she replied.
âYou should stay,â you interjected. âI donât want you to miss out because of me,â you replied softly. Yumi waved her hand. âNonsense,â she replied. âI donât care. Youâre my best friend. Iâd be a horrible friend if I stayed while you went back to the lodge alone. Besides, Iâm done skiing anyway,â she added.
Yumi turned to her mother who offered to drive back anyone who was done for the day. Haneul agreed to finish for the day as did her mother. The twins, Gunho, Seomi, and Yunho agreed to stay and Yunho would drive back when they were done.
Yunho helped you out to the van and to get in with Yumiâs help. âDonât put any pressure on it until I can properly wrap it. Make sure to ice it for twenty minutes. Then put heat on it for twenty. Back and forth with the temperatures,â he instructed before closing the door and backing up to watch the van reverse.
You watched him until the van turned and he disappeared from your view. âAre you feeling okay?â Yumiâs voice asked softly from beside you. You turned to look at her and nodded. âYeah,â you admitted. âIt doesnât hurt that much now.â
The ride back was silent as you stared out the window of the van, watching the scenery change and pass by. It felt like no time at all had passed when you were pulling up to the lodge. Yumi and Haneul very carefully helped you out of the van, helping you up the steps into the lodge and Yumi made sure you got upstairs to your shared room. Yumi took a shower first, cleaning off before coming out.
âThe others are back so you might want to take your shower now before they do and all the hot water is gone,â she announced. You got up and limped over to the door with your toiletry bag, towels, and clean clothes. As you limped towards the bathroom door, the bedroom to Yunho and Seomiâs room opened and Seomi exited, glaring at you as she exited and walked down the hall with an annoyed huff, entering the bathroom and slamming the door.
You let out a sigh and started to turn back to the bedroom when Yunho appeared. âOh, Seomi just went in there,â he said, noticing your toiletry bag and towels. You nodded. âI know,â you replied. âShe rushed past me to get there,â you admitted. Yunho frowned at your words. âIâm sorry,â he said softly. âYou can go before me,â he offered. âThanks,â you murmured and started to make your way back.
âHowâs your ankle?â he asked, looking down. âSâokay,â you shrugged. âThe gauze seems to be coming loose.â Yunho nodded silently, looking back up. âAfter your shower, Iâll wrap it again. We stopped on the way back to get some stuff from a pharmacy,â he explained. âThanks,â you mumbled and limped back to your shared room with Yumi who frowned as you entered the room.
âI thought you were going to shower,â she said as you hobbled over to your bed and collapsed onto it. âSeomi beat me to it,â you muttered, rolling onto your side, facing the wall. âThat bitch,â you heard your best friend grumble and rolled back to look at her. âI thought you liked her,â you said.
Yumi shrugged. âI did but when I saw the way she glared at you when Yunho was carrying you into the lodge, it just rubbed me the wrong way. And when I was walking back here, I could hear them arguing. It wasnât very loud but I could still hear it,â she explained.
âThen you were in the hall, holding your bathroom stuff and she just walks in there cause sheâs not slowed down by an injury. That makes her a bitch.â You snorted and rolled back to face the wall, closing your eyes. Maybe you would just wait until everyone else had gone so you wouldnât be in the way.
You werenât sure how much time passed before Yumi was gently shaking you awake. âSeomi is done in the shower,â she said softly. âAnd I think theyâre fighting again so hurry up and get to the bathroom before someone else does.â
You scrambled to get up and hurried out of the room as fast as your ankle would let you, passing the door to Yunho and Seomiâs room which was ajar and like Yumi had said, you could hear them bickering back and forth. Seomi definitely sounded angry but Yunho was surprisingly calm.
You dared not stay and eavesdrop and instead hobbled down to the bathroom. You closed the door behind you and turned the lock before moving to start the shower and undress, unwrapping your ankle and setting the gauze and backscratcher aside before stepping into the scalding water with a sigh.
You went about your business, washing off the events of the day and allowing the hot water to soothe any aches and tense muscles in your body. After you were finished washing and you had rinsed the last of the conditioner from your hair, you stepped out of the shower, wrapped yourself in a towel and started to dry off.
You sat on the toilet, lid down, so you could dry off without putting unnecessary pressure on your swollen ankle. Once your body was dry, you pulled on your clean clothes, snatching up the dirty ones and carefully started to hobble back to your room.
Once inside, you tossed your dirty clothes in the hamper in the room and sat on the bed, starting to dry your hair with the extra towel. Yumi had disappeared, no doubt downstairs. You wondered if you should make the journey downstairs for dinner but one look at your ankle told you that was a bad idea.
Your thoughts were interrupted by a soft knocking at the door. You turned as the door cracked open and Yunho peered in. âIs it okay to come in?â he asked and you nodded, watching as he pushed the door open further and came in, holding in his hand an ankle brace.
âI got this at the pharmacy,â he said as he moved to kneel in front of you. âYou already got your socks on, good,â he noted as he carefully took your foot and inspected it. âDoes it still hurt?â he asked, looking up at you. Shaking your head you looked down at his hands.
âJust when you put weight on it?â he asked. You nodded wordlessly. âGood,â he noted with a nod. âMeans itâs not as severe as I initially thought.â You said nothing as he put the brace around your ankle, making sure to strap it tightly. âThere,â he said softly. âYou should have no problems walking,â he added as he looked up at you. âBut just be careful. You should rest before dinner,â he continued.
You nodded silently as he got up and moved towards the door. âAnd sorry again about Seomi,â he added quietly. âSometimes sheâs⊠a little tough,â he said, hesitating for a moment. âGet some rest,â he repeated. âSee you at dinner.â
You watched as he exited, pulling the door shut behind him.
You were left alone for only a moment when the door opened and Yumi entered, Haneul and Kang-min on her heels. âAre you okay?â Kang-min asked, sitting beside you on your bed. You nodded. âIâm fine,â you replied. âItâs just a little sore at this point.â
The four of you froze as you heard a slam next door followed by muffled shouting. Haneul moved to close the door, drowning out some of the noise. âI donât think theyâre gonna last,â Haneul murmured, moving to sit on Yumiâs bed. âAnd good riddance if they donât,â Yumi muttered, drawing Haneul and Kang-minâs attention.
âI thought you liked her,â Haneul whispered, looking shocked. âI did until she cut Y/N in line for the shower,â Yumi grumbled. âSheâs also weirdly overly possessive of Yunho. She got mad at Y/N because Yunho was carrying her after she got hurt,â Yumi explained. âLike, what did she want her to do? Itâs not like Y/N could walk.â Their words fell to the back of your mind as you zoned out.
You were feeling tired from the events of the day and yawned. âAre you tired?â Haneul asked, noticing. âDo you want to nap?â Kang-min added. You nodded. âYeah, sorry guys. Iâm just really worn out.â Kang-min immediately got up as did Haneul and Yumi. âWeâll go talk outside. You get some rest. Iâll wake you up when dinner is ready,â she said softly as the other opened the door and exited.
You thanked Yumi and laid back down as she shut the light off and closed the door with a soft click. Not long after, you were out like the light.
Yunho closed the door and started for the stairs. He was getting sick of this. He was tired of the fighting and the arguments. And over what? Seomi wouldnât even tell him why she was upset, only that she was and that it was his fault. How could he apologize for something if he didnât even know what he did?
At first, he gave in and apologized the other night after the drinking game just to keep the peace but this time around, he wasnât going to apologize until she told him why he was apologizing. He reached the bottom of the stairs and noticed Yumi, Haneul, the twins, and Gunho sitting outside around the firepit.
He walked over, pulling open the door and stepped out. Whatever conversation they were having died the moment he stepped outside. âI think Iâm gonna help mom with dinner,â Haneul muttered, getting up and walking past Yunho and back inside. The twins exchanged looks and got up. âI think dad said something about needing help with firewood,â Kang-min said to Jang-min who nodded.
They disappeared inside the house and Yunho was left with his siblings sitting quietly as they avoided eye contact with him. Yunho looked between them before moving to sit down. He glanced back at the door first before speaking. âAlright,â he started.
âWhatâs going on?â he asked. âWhy are they avoiding me?â
Yumi glanced at Gunho who looked back at her and shrugged. Yumi narrowed her eyes at her younger brother before sighing. âItâs because of your girlfriend,â she replied. âBecause of Seomi?â Yunho asked. âWhat? Why?â Yumi sighed again, looking towards Gunho for help but the younger merely shrugged again. âYouâre no help,â she snapped.
âSeomi is kind ofâŠâ Yumi trailed off. âA bitch,â Gunho mumbled, earning a smack from Yumi. âSheâs kind of a lot to handle. Sheâs been pretty nasty to Y/N for no reason,â Yumi clarified. Yunho looked between his siblings. âWhat are you talking about?â he asked. Yumi sighed heavily.
âFirst time I noticed it was during the drinking game. I think when you chose Y/N as your mate, Seomi got mad which I donât know why. If you had picked her, she was gonna have to drink every time you did,â Gunho mumbled, picking at his sleeve. Yunho snorted.
âThatâs exactly why I didnât pick her. I didnât want her to have to drink every time I did.â Yumi nodded, shifting in her seat. âAnd we get that. Hell, even Y/N gets that but Seomi must have thought you were picking Y/N because you like her or something which is, again, dumb. Y/N is my best friend and youâre my brother. If it hasnât happened already, itâs probably never going to happen,â Yumi said softly.
Yunho forced a smile.Â
Itâs not like he hadnât thought about it before; being with you. There was something different about you. Something Yumiâs other friends lacked. You were funny, intelligent, confident, and you didnât really seem to take shit from anyone. You had your head on your shoulders which was more than Yunho could have said for some of Yumiâs other friends at the time.
Yunho was also well aware of the fact that he was your first crush, possibly even your first love, though he never actually heard it from you directly. He had only heard it second hand from a friend of his who claims to have somehow overheard you telling someone else. Someone who wasnât Yumi.
When he initially heard it, he wasnât sure what to make of it. You had never made it obvious that you liked him so he thought maybe his friend was pranking him. After all, he was in high school and you were still in middle school at the time, but he would be lying if it didnât cross his mind again when you finally started high school. Or when you came back from your first year of college. He never wanted to cross that line, in case you had moved on and gotten over your crush.
If it was even true to begin with.
Despite whether or not your feelings for him were real, his for you were definitely real. So he forced himself to move on, forced himself to date people who werenât you and hoped that by doing so, he might actually get over the silly feelings that lingered in the back of his mind. Only it didnât actually work.Â
When he brought his first college girlfriend home for winter break, he was certain heâd managed to move on but when he saw you coming out of Yumiâs room, all grown up yourself, his confidence that heâd finally managed to move on soared out the window.
He was back to square one.
It was after this that he stopped coming home during breaks as often and focused more on spending time with his friends. He and his girlfriend at the time had broken up after that trip, and it wasnât until Yunho met Seomi that things seemed to start getting easier.
Whether that was because you werenât around or because of Seomi herself, he couldnât say for sure.
His relationship was far from perfect but he really did like Seomi. He thought he might even love her but when he saw you show up at the airport for the trip, he knew he was screwed. He couldnât tell if your indifference towards him was because youâd truly moved on or if it was you trying to avoid him.
He just didnât know. And how could he when the two of you barely spoke this trip. You had seemed uninterested in him, in what heâd become and done with his life. He thought if you were really past it, then maybe he could actually move on with Seomi but his resolve was further put to the test when you injured yourself. He was down the slope before you even fully came to a stop.
He had been mid conversation with Seomi one second and the next he was rushing down the slope to get to you. To make sure you were okay. He could chalk it up to being a concerned physician but he couldnât lie to himself anymore. It was clear from the moment you showed up at the airport that he wasnât truly over you and he might never be.
âShe also got too excited when she thought Y/N had fucked up on the Christmas movies and then again when you took Y/Nâs side,â Gunho continued, pulling Yunho out of his thoughts in time to see Yumi nodding. Yunho laughed this time, surprising both his siblings.Â
âBecause Y/N was right. Die Hard is a Christmas movie. Just because itâs not some cheesy Hallmark movie doesnât mean it doesnât count,â he explained.
âAnd then again today,â Gunho continued, ignoring his brother. âWhen Y/N got hurt and you carried her into the lodge, Seomi looked pissed,â he added, looking at Yumi who nodded again. âI saw that firsthand. Itâs stupid. Itâs not like Y/N could walk. She just twisted her ankle. She was injured.â
Yunho shook his head. âWhy would she be mad at that?â Yunho asked. âIâm a physician. I help injured people at work all the time!â Yumi and Gunho shrugged simultaneously. âDoes she ever get really upset when youâre around other women who arenât family?â Yumi asked.
Yunho wracked his brain. âNow that you mention itâŠâ he trailed off, noticing the way Yumi and Gunho exchanged glances. âAnd sheâs been upset most of this trip because youâve been around a girl who isnât family. Picking her in a drinking game, helping her when she got injured, picking her side when she was right about something,â Gunho listed. âSheâs clearly jealous of Y/N,â he added.
âWhy would she need to be jealous?â Yunho asked, looking at his younger brother. âSheâs not jealous,â Yumi said, shaking her head. âSheâs insecure. She thinks that Y/N could pull you and she feels threatened by her.â Yunho stared incredulously at his sister.
âSeomi is my girlfriend. Not Y/N,â he retorted. âShe has no reason to be insecure. Iâm with her.â Yumi shrugged. âIn her mind, that doesnât matter,â Yumi replied. âIn her mind, youâre going to leave her for someone better. Someone like Y/N.â
Yunhoâs heart skipped a beat but he played it off with a scoff, leaning back in his seat, crossing his arms over his chest. âThatâs just dumb,â he muttered. âHas Seomi said anything?â Yumi asked, Gunho turning to look at his older brother with mild interest. Yunho shook his head. âNo,â he answered. âSheâs upset, I know that, but when I ask why, she refuses to tell me. She just wants me to apologize. I did the first time, but Iâm not apologizing again until she tells me why.â
Yunho watched Yumi shake her head. âSheâs expecting you to read her mind which is never going to happen. SheâŠâ Yumi trailed off, averting her eyes to the firepit. âShe what?â Yunho asked. Yumi looked back up. âShe sounds exhausting and to be honest, I think you deserve better. You deserve someone who isnât going to treat you like this.â
Yunhoâs brow rose at Yumiâs admission. He looked to Gunho who said nothing, instead staring blankly into the fire. âYou think Seomi and I should break up?â Yunho asked. Yumi nodded. âAs your sister, yes. I think you two arenât good for one another. But in the end, what I think doesnât matter. What matters is what you think. Itâs your relationship after all,â she replied.
Yunho watched as Yumi got up and walked around the firepit towards the door. âYou have to think about what makes you happy though, Yunho. Not what makes other people happy.â
Without another word, Yumi opened the door and entered the house, leaving Yunho and Gunho by the fire. Yunho turned to the younger who sighed and got to his feet as well. âIâm getting a little chilly out here,â he announced. âSee you inside,â he added walking past Yunho, leaving the eldest sitting there, stunned into silence.
Was this really how his family perceived his relationship? Was this how you perceived his relationship? Did everyone think he was some sort of idiot, dating Seomi without realizing the kind of person she was? Yunho sat for a moment longer outside before getting up and heading inside.
He and Seomi had some talking to do.
You woke up to total darkness, groaning softly as you rolled over.
âMorning sunshine~!â you heard your best friend say in an amused tone. You looked over to her side of the room to see she was sitting up in bed, a small light clipped to her book. âWhat time is it?â you grumbled, voice cracking. âLike eight,â Yumi answered, checking her watch for verification. âDid I miss dinner?â you asked looking back at her. She nodded, turning on her bedside lamp, casting a dim yellow light around the room.
âBut I brought you food~!â Yumi said in a sing-song voice, getting up as she set her book aside. On your bedside table was a plate covered with another plate. âWe just finished so it should still be kinda warm,â Yumi said as she got up and walked over. âI wasnât sure what you wanted so I brought a bit of everything.â
You looked up at your best friend with sparkling eyes. âThank you,â you whispered as she uncovered the plate and handed it to you. âIt looks so good,â you said, holding back the urge to groan. Yumi snickered at your reaction, picking up the utensils and handing them to you.
âJust eat, you weirdo,â she mumbled, patting the top of your head and moving back to grab her book. Instead of getting back in her bed, she moved over to climb into yours, snuggling up next to you as you ate. âYou want me to read to you?â she asked, looking up. You nodded as you took a bite.
You ate in silence as Yumi read aloud from her book.
As you were finishing your food, you could hear hushed voices on the other side of the wall. They grew in intensity and you could tell it was Yunho and Seomi. You glanced at your best friend who had stopped reading to listen, her eyes meeting yours.
âWonder what theyâre fighting about,â you murmured, turning back to your food. âProbably because Yunho offered to bring you dinner earlier,â Yumi muttered nonchalantly. You turned to look at her. âWhat?â you asked. Yumi looked up at you. âYeah. You were sleeping so I didnât wake you and then the twins asked where you were so I said you were asleep and I didnât want to bother you âcause of your ankle. So Yunho offered to bring your food to you, like Iâm not sharing a room with you,â she said, rolling her eyes.
âSeomiâs been mad at him for other things too but I think this just kind of set her off.â
As soon as Yumi said that, you both jumped as you heard a door slam shut and someone stomping down the stairs. You looked at Yumi who looked back just as wide-eyed. âWhat was that?â you wondered out loud. Yumi shrugged and got up as the door to Yunho and Seomiâs room opened and more footsteps were heard running down the stairs before the front door opened.
Yumi rushed over to the window to see what the commotion was. âItâs Seomi and Yunho!â she whisper-shouted at you. âWhat are they doing?â you asked. âI think theyâre yelling,â she replied. âStandby.â She set her book aside and carefully unlocked and opened the window a crack.
The distant voices of Yunho and Seomi could be heard arguing but you couldnât discern what they were saying. âYouâre being unreasonable,â Yumi whispered to you. âThat was Yunho.â
âIâm not being unreasonable. Youâre the one thatâs in love with someone else,â Yumi continued to whisper the entire conversation to you. âI wonder who sheâs talking about.â
âIâm not in love with her! How many times do I have to say it?â
âItâs written all over your face. Youâre bad at hiding it. Youâve probably been cheating on me with her--â
Yumi frowned. âOh hell no,â she hissed, pushing the window open some more. âYumi!â you hissed, throwing a pillow towards her but falling short. âHey!â Yumi yelled out the window. âPeople are trying to sleep here! Take your loverâs quarrel somewhere else!â Yumi shouted.
âStay out of this, Yumi!â you heard Yunhoâs voice shout.
âIâm trying to sleep!â another voice shouted out the window and you recognized it as Gunho.
âStop shouting! People are sleeping!â yet another voice shouted.
âTheyâre getting in the car,â Yumi whispered to you, watching the van no doubt drive off into the forest before she turned to look at you, shutting the window. âI wonder where theyâre going,â Yumi continued as she moved back to your bed. âWho knows,â you muttered, resuming picking at your food. Yumi noticed and sat up. âAre you done eating?â she asked softly. You nodded and thanked her as she took the plate.
âWhat are friends for if not to bring you food and take the plate away when your leg is all gimpy?â she asked, chuckling as you cursed at her. Yumi returned and grabbed her book, moving back to her bed. âIâll let you go back to sleep,â she said as she climbed back into bed. âThanks, Yumi,â you said again and she smiled up at you. âAny time,â she replied, turning the light off and plunging the room back into darkness.
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
The next morning, you woke to a light knocking on your door. Yumi was still in bed so you werenât sure who it could be. The door cracked open and Haneul peered in, smiling at you. âBreakfast is ready,â she announced. âDo you want to come down or if your ankle still hurts, I could bring something up?â
You shook your head. âIâll come down,â you replied, pulling back the covers as you sat up. âThank you, Haneul,â you added. She shut the door and you grabbed a pillow, flinging it at Yumi who whined in protest. âBreakfast is ready, dork,â you called, pushing yourself up.
Your ankle wasnât as painful today but you still couldnât put all your weight on it.
You pulled on a pair of sweats and walked over to Yumiâs bed, grabbing your pillow and hitting her twice with it. âCome on,â you mumbled. âIf Iâm up, you need to be,â you said but she refused. âGet up or Iâll eat all the bacon,â you grumbled and she sat up quickly. âDonât you dare,â she growled.
Once Yumi was dressed, you headed downstairs. Yumi waited while you took it easy, one step at a time. The rest of the family was already sitting around the table, save for Yunho. You wondered where he was and hoped he was okay.
Luckily, you didnât have to wonder for long because Yumi asked for you.
âWhereâs Yunho?â
âHeâs in his room,â you heard Mrs. Jeong answer. âHe had a hard time last night,â she added. You glanced over at your best friend who stared blankly at her mother. âSo he made it back?â Yumi asked, drawing Mrs. Jeongâs attention. âHe did,â she replied plainly.
âAlone?â
âYumi,â Mr. Jeong said suddenly. âKnock it off. Your brother doesnât need this right now.â
âItâs fine,â another voice said and everyone looked up to see Yunho had joined the group and was moving to sit between Gunho and his father. You looked away, busying yourself with your breakfast. It was a simple congee but you added a fried egg and some bacon to yours.
âSeomi left,â Yunho continued, addressing not only his sister but the entire table. âWe broke up,â he added. âIâm sorry dear,â Mrs. Jeong said softly. Yunho forced a smile. âWhy?â Jun-seo asked, looking up from his game. âIt wasnât working out anymore,â Yunho answered.
You glanced up in time to see his gaze pass over you and linger before he looked away. âWell, maybe some time in town will help,â Mr. Jeong said as he continued to eat. âWeâre all going,â he added. âDad,â Yumi said suddenly. âY/N canât walk. She twisted her ankle yesterday, remember?â
Mrs. Jeong nodded. âOh, thatâs right,â she said softly, looking at her husband. âI can stay here,â you said quickly. âYou all go. Donât stay back on my account. Iâll just stay in our room or something.â
Mrs. Jeong looked worriedly from you to your best friend. âAlone?â she asked. Yumi shook her head, opening her mouth to speak but Yunho beat her to it.
âIâll stay behind,â he announced. âIâm not really feeling a trip to town. Iâd actually rather stay here.â Yunho looked down at his plate while his parents exchanged glances. âAre you sure?â his mother asked. Yunho nodded, forcing another smile. âOf course,â he replied. âAnd who better to stay here with her than a physician?â Haneulâs father chimed in.
It was settled and after breakfast, you leaned against one of the wooden posts by the front door as the rest of the family headed out, Yumi stopping to make sure you were sure you wanted to be alone with Yunho. You nodded and told her to go have fun. Once they all piled into the vans and drove off, Yunho shut the door and turned to you. âSo,â he said softly. âWhat do you want to do?â he asked.
You shrugged. âIâm not sure,â you replied. âBut I think I want to rest upstairs.â Yunho nodded wordlessly, moving over to where you stood. âYou want me to carry you or you want me to just spot you as you climb the stairs?â he asked. Your cheeks burned and you looked away from his face.
âIâll climb the stairs,â you murmured and moved to the base. Yunho followed, making sure you got to the top safely. Once you were back in your room, he waited by the door. âIf you need to go downstairs for anything,â he said, hand on the doorknob. âJust call out. Iâll get you whatever you need,â he added before leaving.
You tossed and turned in your bed, trying to will yourself to go back to sleep but you struggled. As you lay there, you could hear the wind outside pick up, howling and rattling the windows in their frames. You carefully climbed out of bed and limped over to the window, pulling back the curtain to peer out and find that snow was blowing around. âA snow storm?â you wondered silently.
You headed back to your bed, grabbing your earbuds from your bag and lay back down, plugging your ears and starting some music. Closing your eyes, you let the music lull you back to sleep, thankful the music was able to drown out the whipping wind.
When you woke up again, it was darker. You checked the time and saw that it was almost 5 pm. It got dark a lot faster than it did back home and you werenât used to it yet. You sat up, reaching up to rub your eyes before swinging your legs over the side of the bed and getting up carefully.
You limped over to the door, pulling it open to peer out into the hall. âYunho?â you called out. You were met with silence and decided not to bother him. You decided you could make it down the steps. Youâd just have to be careful. You exited the room and made your way down to the main floor, taking it one step at a time and hobbled into the kitchen to get some water.
As you were opening the cabinet, you heard the back door open and turned to find Yunho carrying an armful of firewood. âYouâre up!â he said as he moved to set the firewood by the fireplace and hurried over. âHere, let me,â he said softly as he stopped behind you, easily reaching the glasses and picking one out for you. âWhy didnât you call me for help?â he asked with a chuckle.
You moved to get some water from the fridge. âI called out but you were outside so I figured Iâd just be careful coming down the stairs,â you explained. Yunho removed his coat and moved to hang it up along with his scarf and hat. âAre you sure youâre okay?â Yunho asked as he moved back to where you stood.
You took a sip of water and nodded, setting the glass on the counter. Yunho stared at you, eyes searching your face. âIs it still snowing?â you asked suddenly. Yunho nodded wordlessly. âYeah,â he finally said. âMy dad called,â he added. âSaid if the snow doesnât stop soon, they might have to stay in town.â Your heart jumped at the thought of having the entire place alone with Yunho.
âSo weâll be here,â you said plainly. Yunho nodded, looking at you but not quite seeing you. âAlone,â you added to which he continued to nod. Silence fell over the two of you but it wasnât awkward. It was full of tension though. After a few moments, you finally broke the quiet.
âSorry about Seomi,â you whispered. Yunhoâs snapped up to meet yours. âWhat?â he asked softly. You cleared your throat before speaking again. âIâm sorry about Seomi.â Once you clarified what you said, Yunhoâs expression softened. âItâs alright,â he replied. âIt was never going to work out anyway,â he added.
âWhy do you say that?â you asked curiously. Yunho smiled more to himself than to you.
âI think deep down, she was just a replacement for something,â he explained. âOr rather for someone.â
You watched him carefully as he no doubt was thinking to himself. âWhat do you mean?â Yunho looked up at you, lips parted but before he could say anything, your phone rang in your pocket. You sighed, pulling the device out. The screen read Yumiâs name and you held up a finger. âHold that thought.â
You swiped the answer button and held the phone to your ear. âHello?â you asked.
âY/N, itâs Yumi,â you heard your best friend say. âYeah, whatâs up?â you asked, glancing up at Yunho who was leaning against the counter across from you, a small distance between you as he watched you carefully. âThe locals said the storm isnât stopping any time soon,â Yumi started.
âWeâre gonna have to stay in the town tonight,â she continued. Your heart started to hammer in your chest. You were going to be all alone tonight. Alone with him. With Yunho. You glanced up at him, his expression growing more and more concerned. âOkay,â you managed to squeak out.
âBe safe. And hopefully weâll see you in the morning,â you added. âOh,â Yumi said suddenly. âDad said to tell Yunho to bring in more firewood in case the power goes out up there. The stoves are gas so you should be fine on that.â
You nodded though your best friend couldnât see you. âGot it,â you answered. âBe safe,â you repeated. Yumi repeated the sentiment and hung up and you set your phone down on the counter. âThat was Yumi,â you started to explain. âShe said the storm isnât going to let up until tomorrow,â you continued.
Yunho nodded, waiting for you to go on. âShe said theyâre staying in town so weâre on our own tonight.â Yunho seemed to relax visibly. âAnd she said your dad said to bring more firewood in the house, just in case the power goes out.â Yunho nodded towards the fireplace. âI brought in three armfuls,â he explained. âThat should be enough,â he added.
You nodded slowly as the conversation with Yumi started to fade away. âSo,â you said softly. âWhat were you going to say before Yumi called?â You swore you saw a mild panic flash over Yunhoâs face before he laughed it off. âOh that? Itâs nothing,â he murmured. âJust me rambling.â
âForget I said anything.â
You reached forward, grabbing his wrist. âNo,â you replied. He turned to look at you. âNo?â he asked. You shook your head. âNo, Iâm not going to forget it. So just tell me.â Yunho hesitated before swallowing thickly. âDeep down, I think she was a replacement for someone,â he finally said softly.
âFor who?â you asked, looking up at his eyes staring back at yours. âFor you,â you imagined him saying. Yunho hesitated a moment longer before speaking. âFor someone I canât have,â he finally said, your heart sinking into your stomach. You let go of him quickly and pulled back. âOh,â you said shortly.
âI see,â you added, turning away from him. âI thoughtâŠâ you trailed off. âDonât,â you told yourself. âDonât do that. Donât tell him that.â It was Yunhoâs turn to speak. âYou thought what?â he asked.
âNothing,â you said quickly. Much too quickly. You hoped that like your childhood crush on him, he wouldnât notice but you should have known better. Yunho noticed almost everything about you, even if you didnât know it.
âTell me,â he said softly. His voice was somewhat closer as he spoke. âWhat did you think?â
You shook your head. âIt doesnât matter,â you said, choking back a sob that threatened to escape.
âIt does to me.â
The dam holding back your tears broke and you let out the smallest whimper, ducking your head. âY/N?â Yunho whispered. You felt his hand on your arm as he turned you slowly. âTalk to me,â he said as you fought to not face him. âItâs n-nothing!â you stammered.
Before you could move away, Yunho turned you to face him, taking your face in his hands and making you look up, meeting his gaze. âWhy are you crying?â he asked, thumbs brushing your tears away. âItâs stupid,â you sobbed. âDonât ask me.â
Yunho leaned closer, pressing his lips against your forehead.
The action was so intimate and unexpected that it caused your brain to short circuit. âIf itâs upsetting you, itâs not stupid,â Yunho whispered, lips brushing against your skin. âSo, tell me.â You shook your head rather than answer.
âIs it because you thought I was talking about you?â he asked.
You froze again. âDid he know this whole time?â
You slowly raised your eyes to meet his brown ones. âIs that it?â he asked softly.
Without a word, you nodded, maintaining eye contact. Yunho hummed, caressing your cheek slowly.
âYou idiot,â he said softly with a smile. âI was talking about you.â Your eyes widened. âYou were?â you squeaked. Yunho nodded. âOf course I was. I thought I had been obvious before but Iâve been in love with you for a long time, Y/N,â he murmured.
âY-you have?!â you squeaked again. Yunho nodded. âI tried to move on, date other people but none of them lasted because they werenât you. God, this whole time, I wanted you. I didnât want anyone else but I thought youâd never go for it. Yumi is your best friend and sheâs my sister. Dating your best friendâs brother? Sheâd never allow that. Sheâd hate me forever if I ever hurt you. So I stayed away. I tried to forget about the way I felt about you but each time when I thought Iâd made progress I would come home and see you and everything would fall back to square one.â
You stared up at him as he rambled.Â
âI tried so hard not to love you. To let you go and move on. I tried so fucking hard,â he said, his voice breaking as he held back tears. âBut I just canât do it anymore. I canât go on pretending I donât want this,â he said, caressing your cheeks with his thumbs again. âPretending that I donât want you,â he added.
âPretending like Iâm not completely in love with you.â
Your hands reached up to grab his shirt, pulling him down and crashing your lips against his, catching him off guard. His brief pause passed and he melted into the kiss, one hand moving to the small of your back and pulling you against him as he kissed you deeper.
You let out a quiet moan as his lips parted yours, his tongue slipping into your mouth and finding yours. Your fingers loosened their grip on his shirt as he pressed further against you. Without a word, he scooped you up, setting you on the counter before his lips were back on yours, hands wandering as he slotted himself between your thighs.
You moaned as his lips moved down the side of your neck, hands gripping your waist tightly. âGod, you sound so pretty,â he murmured against your ear. âIâve thought about what you sound like,â he continued. âWondered what you taste like, what you feel like.â
You felt a chill run up your spine. âIâve wanted you so bad,â Yunho continued, lips brushing against your pulse point. âSo many times, I wanted to take you to my room when you were spending the night and drown in you. Pin you to the bed and make you beg for release,â he continued, groaning when you whimpered in his ear.
âWhatâs stopping you now?â you whispered. Yunho groaned, pulling back to take your face in his hands firmly. âTell me you want this,â he said urgently. âTell me you want me. I need to hear you say it.â You looked up at him, searching his face before finally answering him. âI want you,â you managed to say in a shaky voice.
Yunho let out a growl, pulling you into another kiss, parting your lips, his tongue meeting yours in a frantic dance for dominance. You started to pull at Yunhoâs shirt, pulling it out of the way so you could fumble with the ties of his pants. âWait, wait,â Yunho mumbled, grabbing your hands and halting your movement. You looked up to meet his gaze.
âWhat?â you asked, worried you might have done something wrong. He shook his head. âNot here,â he mumbled. âYou deserve better than to be fucked in the kitchen like some cheesy porno,â he continued. You opened your mouth to protest but Yunho was gone before you could stop him.
He disappeared up the steps leaving you alone in the kitchen. You heard him rushing around on the floor above, his footsteps echoing through the floor before he started to descend the steps. You turned to look over your shoulder as he came into view, carrying an armful of blankets and pillows.
âWhat the--â you trailed off as he tossed the linens down in front of the fireplace before moving around behind the sofa. You watched as he pulled the sofa back, the wooden legs making a slight screech as they dragged against the wooden floor.
Next to move was the coffee table before Yunho started fumbling with the blankets and pillows. You started to move over to where he was kneeling to get a better look. As he came full into view, you could see he had created a sort of bed on the floor in front of the fireplace. You stared incredulously at him as he worked quickly before he looked up and met your gaze.
âHey,â he pouted. âBack in the kitchen,â he ordered. You chuckled as you hobbled back over to wait for him. Once he was satisfied that the nest was comfortable enough, he was back by your side in the kitchen, guiding you back onto the counter. âWhere were we?â he murmured, leaning in.
âBefore you so rudely ran away?â you whispered as his lips brushed against yours. âHey,â he whined. âI had to improvise. I didnât want to try to force you to climb the stairs and besides,â he added, pulling back to look at you. âAnd if the power goes out in the middle, at least weâll still have the fire for warmth and light,â he continued. Your hands moved up his chest to rest on his shoulders.
âHmm,â you hummed. âWeâll have more than the fire for warmth,â you retorted. Yunho leaned in closer. âOnly if you want to,â he answered. âI donât want to force you to do anything you donât-â you cut him off, pulling him into a kiss, smirking internally as he groaned against your lips.
And just like that, the brief pause so he could set the mood in front of the fireplace was forgotten as you felt his hands wander, one moving to the small of your back and pulling you against him as his tongue explored your mouth again. âFuck,â you heard him groan as he pulled back, lips trailing down the side of your neck. âCan I mark you?â he groaned, pulling away to look at you.
You nodded silently, chest heaving. âJust not my neck,â you admitted. âYumi might see,â you added. Yunhoâs fingers toyed with the hem of your tee shirt, eyes searching yours for permission to remove the article. You nodded and allowed him to pull it off you with ease. His eyes scanned your frame, taking in parts of you heâd never seen before, only imagined.
You resisted the urge to cover yourself even if you were wearing a bralette. Yunho said nothing, instead bringing a hand up, hesitating as he looked up at you through his lashes. âMay I?â he asked, waiting for your consent. You nodded wordlessly, wanting to feel his hands all over. You want to feel him everywhere.
âPlease,â you finally croaked out. âPlease touch me.â
Yunhoâs hands were on you in an instant, one cupping over your chest as the other moved to the back of your neck, pulling you into a heated kiss, one that took your breath away as he guided your movements. âCome here, angel,â he murmured, sliding his hands under your ass as he stepped away from the counter, carrying you from the kitchen to the living room.
He carefully set you on the couch before kneeling in front of you. âTell me if anything makes you uncomfortable,â he started, looking up at you, the light from the fire dancing over the both of you. Slowly, you cupped his cheek, almost melting when he leaned into your touch.
âDonât stop,â you simply said. âI want this. I want you,â you reminded him. âIâve always wanted you.â
Yunho gently pulled you from the couch, sliding you under him on your back against the blankets. âGod, I donât even know where to start,â he murmured, his hips slotting between your thighs as his hands held him up. âI want to touch you everywhere, kiss you everywhere.â Your fingers fumbled with the hem of his shirt. âWe have all night,â you reminded him.
âTake your time.â
Yunho did just that, kissing you slowly as one of his hands moved along your side, squeezing your hip and moving down to your thigh, pulling it against his hip and grinding against your core. You could feel the weight of his cock in his pants press against you, almost throbbing with the need to release.
âYunho,â you moaned as he kissed down your neck to your collar. âHmm?â he hummed against your skin. âPlease touch me,â you whined. He chuckled lightly, his breath hot against your skin. âI am touching you, baby,â he replied. Your heart skipped a beat at the nickname.
Hearing it come from him was something youâd always wanted but never expected. He wasnât holding back anymore. âPlease, Yunho, please,â you begged, trying to wiggle your hips but his weight held them down. âShush,â he mumbled, planting soft kisses against your collar. âBe patient, baby.â
You pulled your bottom lip between your teeth as you felt Yunhoâs lips move over your chest, feeling his breath through the thin material of your lacy bralette. âThis is in the way,â he grumbled, pulling back and slipping his fingers under the fabric. âIt needs to come off,â he added.
You allowed him to pull you up to pull the offending article off and toss it aside.
You laid back slowly, cheeks burning under his gaze as he took in even more of your form. It wasnât an entirely new experience for you, being topless but being topless in front of your best friendâs brother who you happen to be in love with was certainly a unique experience.
âGod,â he murmured, tearing his gaze from your exposed skin to look up at your face. âIâve never told you how fucking beautiful you are, have I?â he asked, leaning down to press a kiss against your cheek. âIâve thought about this moment a hundred different ways,â he continued, whispering into your ear.
âAbout what it would be like to have you underneath me like this. To have you laid bare for me,â he continued, kissing back down to your chest. âTo be able to take my time and kiss your body over and over. To taste every inch of you.â You let out a gasp as you felt his tongue against your nipple, taking it into his mouth with a gentle suck. Your fingers combed through his hair as he teased the sensitive nub, his hand moving to cup your breast and knead it softly.
âY-Yunho,â you whimpered as he pulled back, his mouth moving to the other side and repeated the same actions, taking your pert nipple in his mouth and teasing it with his tongue. Each flick had your back arching, quiet moans slipping past your lips and your panties starting to stick to you.
Yunho started to kiss down your stomach, stopping to nip at your hips. You moaned louder as he sank his teeth into your skin. âShit, Yunho,â you gasped as he pulled back and continued kissing down to the waistband of your leggings. âMay I?â he asked again and this time you nodded fervently. âYes,â you answered quickly. âPlease.â
Yunho moved slowly, pulling your leggings down past your hips before sliding them down your thighs and pulling them off completely, leaving you in your panties. Your cheeks burned as he took in the sight before him, his hands moving to your knees to hold your legs apart.
âYunho,â you whined, closing your eyes. âDonât stare,â you continued. You heard him chuckle softly. âThis is the first time Iâm seeing you like this,â he replied. âLet me savor it, baby.â
Your cheeks continued to burn under his gaze as he studied your body. Finally, his hands moved up your thighs, stopping at your hips. âLook at me,â he said softly. You did, eyes snapping open to meet his gaze. âThere you are,â he added, making you whine and try to cover your face with your hands.
âDonât,â Yunho warned, taking your wrists and pulling your hands from your face, leaning over to pin your wrists against the blankets as he hovered over you. âDonât hide from me. Let me see all of you,â he continued, one hand moving down to your cheek before sliding over your neck, marveling at the size difference between the two of you.
âFuck, youâre so tiny,â he murmured, fingers lightly closing around your throat. You let out a whimper and Yunhoâs brows rose up quickly. âOh?â he asked softly, squeezing just a little more, making you choke on your own words. âReally?â he asked, mildly amused. âChoking, huh? I never would have guessed.â
You tried to glare back at him but couldnât hold the seriousness in your gaze as he squeezed gently again, your lips parting as a shameless moan slipped out, making his lips twitch as he fought against a smirk that threatened to spread across his face.
âIâll keep that in mind,â he said, pulling his hand from your neck. âFor later,â he added as he leaned in, pressing his lips against yours. You moaned as you felt him grind against you again, the gusset of your panties covered in your own arousal and sticking to you uncomfortably.
Yunho noticed you shifting under him and looked down at you. âIs it uncomfortable?â he asked, lifting his weight off you. Shaking your head, you grabbed him but the hips and pulled him back down, resting the weight of his cock against your core. âMy panties are justâŠâ you trailed off.
Yunho cocked his head to the side curiously. âTheyâre just what?â he asked almost innocently. Your cheeks and ears burned in embarrassment. âSticky,â you finally managed to get out. Yunho said nothing, instead keeping his eyes trained on your face as he rolled his hips, grinding against you.
âWould you like me to change that?â he asked softly, maintaining eye contact. You hesitated. Did you want him to remove your panties just yet? Were you ready to be that exposed to him? You were almost entirely naked under him yet he was still clothed. You shook your head. âItâs not fair for me to be the only one exposed here,â you said.
Wordlessly, Yunho sat back, reaching behind and grabbing the neck of his shirt before pulling it off over his head and setting it aside, leaving him in just his sweats. You allowed your eyes to sweep his frame, taking in the sight. Youâd seen him shirtless before, spending many nights over at Yumiâs when you were younger but you never allowed yourself to really look, always averting your eyes in the past.
He was muscular but in a lean way. His shoulders were broad as you remembered and heâd filled out even more since the last time youâd seen him without his shirt. Your eyes continued to travel further and further, catching sight of a light trail of hair that started under his navel and disappeared into the waistband of his sweats.
âBetter?â he asked, his tone amused as he watched you stare at him. You reached up, grabbing his shoulder and pulled him down to meet your lips in a rushed kiss. Heâd spent so long working you up slowly and now you were more than desperate to have him.
âI know I said we have all night,â you murmured between kisses. âBut I really need you right now.â Yunho chuckled against your lips, hands sliding down to your hips. âYouâve been very patient,â he agreed. âI think you deserve a reward for that.â Without another word, he dragged your panties down, discarding them rather quickly.
You waited with baited breath as his eyes wandered, taking in the sight of you completely naked under him. His eyes stopped briefly at the spot between your thighs before he looked back up to meet your gaze. You kept your eyes trained on his face as he leaned over you, his hand moving between your legs and groaning as he collected your wetness. âIâve barely done anything,â he noted as he looked down, seeing his fingers already coated.
âSâbecause itâs you,â you murmured. Yunho looked back up, pressing his fingers further between your lips and easily finding your clit. You let out a gasp as he slowly started to draw light circles, watching your face as he explored. He was clearly experienced but it was still a new experience; a new lover.
He moved faster, still keeping the same pressure. It was teasing. It was enough friction to keep you on the edge but not push you further. âYunho please,â you begged. It only took one plea for his fingers to move down and sink two into your entrance, making you moan loudly.
âLike that?â he asked softly, curling his fingers against the spongy spot inside you, making you gasp and your thighs try to close around his arm. Yunho pushed your thighs apart, leaning against one to keep you spread open for him. As he continued to pump his fingers in and out of you slowly, he inspected you, keeping his eyes on the place where his fingers disappeared.
Your thigh tried to close and Yunho grumbled, moving his free hand and taking yours, moving it to your thigh. âHold your legs open before I tie you down,â he growled. Your walls clenched around his fingers as you did what he instructed. âGood girl,â he murmured, leaning down to press a soft kiss to your stomach before scooting further down.
Before you could ask what he was doing, you felt his tongue against your clit. It was slow, deliberate, and hot. âIâve wondered what you tasted like for years,â he murmured. âItâs better than I imagined.â With renewed vigor, Yunhoâs tongue lapped at your sex, flicking against your clit as his fingers continued to move inside you. The stimulation started to build tension and you felt your orgasm approaching.
Yunho must have felt it too because he pulled away, his fingers slowing to a stop. You whined, feeling defeated as your climax ebbed away. âShush,â you heard him whisper. âItâs okay, baby,â he continued. âI just need you to hold off a little longer for me.â
Yunho gave your sex a light lick before he pulled away, fingers continuing to move and curl, scissoring you open slowly. âYunho, please,â you pleaded, unshed tears filling your eyes. âJust a little more, kitten,â he murmured, kissing the inside of your thigh.
âJust a little more,â he repeated. Your thighs shook, your impending orgasm slipping away once again when he stopped. You were about to protest when you felt him add a third finger, groaning as you felt the stretch against your walls. âYouâre just so tight,â Yunho groaned as he continued to pump his fingers in and out of you. âI have to take it slow or I might hurt you.â
Despite your begging and pleading, Yunho took his time, opening you up until he was satisfied. You were an incoherent mess as he finally removed his pants and underwear, moving between your thighs and groaning as the underside of his cock rubbed against your wet folds.
âLook, angel,â he instructed. You opened your eyes and pushed yourself up onto your elbows to look down between your thighs. Yunho had rested his cock on you and you felt your stomach churn slightly at the sight. You knew Yunho was a big guy in general but the sheer size of his cock had you already seeing stars. The tip reached just under your navel and you were certain there was no way heâd fit all of it in you.
âSo big,â you commented. Yunho chuckled slightly, carefully pushing you back onto the blanket. âIâll go slow,â he reassured you, pulling back and taking himself in his hand. âJust tell me to stop if it hurts,â he added. You nodded as you felt him press the tip against your slit.
âDeep breath,â he added. You inhaled slowly and as you exhaled, you felt him push the head of his cock past your folds. You groaned as you felt it start to fill you. Yunho took his time, massaging your hips as he slid in slowly, inch by inch.
You winced slightly, prompting him to stop and whisper words of praise as you tried to relax. âThatâs it baby,â he murmured. âJust relax. Iâve got you,â he added. You willed your body to relax, sighing as he continued. It felt like ages before he stopped.
Your body has seized up again and Yunho was coaxing you through it. âItâs okay angel,â he whispered, thumbs rubbing soothing circles against your hips. âRelax, baby,â he added. âRelax and let me in.â
You groaned as he slid further and further, his size filling and stretching your walls. You tried not to clench but subconsciously, your cunt fluttered and constricted around him, making him groan as he tried to bottom out. You were certain heâd never fit it all in but to your absolute surprise, he did.
His hips met yours and he stilled, groaning as he dropped his head into your chest. âFuck,â you heard him curse, his voice muffled. âYouâre so fucking tight, Y/N,â he groaned. You felt him give a tentative thrust, as if to make sure his cock was fully buried in your pussy.
âSo f-full,â you stammered, the tears flowing freely now. âSo big,â you added. Yunho lifted his head and cupped your cheek tenderly, pressing a gentle kiss to your lips. âFeels good?â he asked and you nodded quickly. âFeels s-so good,â you moaned.
âSo fucking good.â
Yunho chuckled, his breath fanning over your skin as you felt him start to retract slowly before snapping his hips forward and filling you in one thrust. You gasped out at the feeling. âDoes it hurt?â he asked suddenly, stopping. You shook your head. âN-no. Feels so good,â you answered. âKeep going, please.â
Yunho pulled back and thrust into you again, setting a slow, heavy rhythm. Your walls constricted, trying to keep him from pulling out and sucking him back in with ease. Moans and mumbles slipped from your lips as he moved. You looked up, meeting his intense gaze.
âGod,â he groaned as his hips stuttered for a moment before he was pounding into you, one hand holding your thigh open, the other keeping him from collapsing onto you. âFuck!â he swore, eyes fluttering shut as he continued to thrust, his hips meeting yours.
You could feel him deeper than anyone had ever been, moaning with each thrust.
âSo small and yet you take me so well,â Yunho groaned. âLike you were made for me.â You whimpered in response, unable to form a coherent sentence. âDoes it feel good, baby?â he asked, his voice low and gravelly. âDo you like how good my cock feels inside you?â
You nodded wordlessly, moans slipping out instead of words. âOh shit, do you see that, little one?â he asked, his eyes now glancing down at your stomach. You raised your head to see what he was looking at. You could see a slight bulge every time he thrust into you. âIt almost doesnât fit,â Yunho said with a smug tone.
âMy cock is almost too big for you, kitten.â
You moaned as he took your hand, placing it over the spot halfway between your navel and sex. You moaned, feeling the tip nudge against your hand. Yunho groaned, pushing your palm down as he thrusted into you. You moaned loudly.
âFuck, you sound so good, baby,â he murmured, hips slowing as he pushed himself up. You groaned as he grabbed your waist, pulling you up so your ass was resting on his thighs as he thrust further into you. âHng! Yunho!â you gasped as the tip of his cock hit your cervix.
âOh shit,â he cursed. You felt him pull out entirely, making you whine at the empty feeling. Yunho rolled you onto your stomach, grabbing one of the pillows to put under your hips, propping you up for him as he re-entered you from behind. You moaned into the blankets as he bottomed out, the tip of his cock pressing against your cervix.
âThatâs it, baby,â Yunho groaned, holding your hips in place as he pulled out, snapping forward and filling you with one stroke. He set a much faster, more unrelenting pace, thrusting into you to a beat only he knew. You grabbed onto the blankets, trying to ground yourself against the power of his movements as he pounded into you, the sound of skin against skin drowning out the crackling of the fire and your whimpers.
âYuh-Yu-Yunho,â you moaned, walls clenching repeatedly around his cock and pushing both of you closer and closer to the edge. âGonna fuck you so good you forget anyone else ever existed,â you heard him growl. âSo you know youâre mine and mine alone.â
âMâgonna make you scream my name, baby,â he added, leaning over your back, one hand moving around to grab your throat firmly. You moaned, walls squeezing around him as your orgasm washed over you without warning. âFuck, fuck, thatâs it kitten. Cum on this cock like a good girl.â
Yunho continued to fuck you through your orgasm, enjoying the way you whimpered and whined as he continued to thrust into you, keeping a firm grip on your throat. âYou gonna cum again?â he murmured in your ear. âY-yes,â you whimpered, walls already fluttering around Yunhoâs cock, gripping him tightly.
âGonna let me fill this sweet little cunt?â he asked in your ear, giving you a hard thrust. âY-yes, daddy,â you whined. Yunho let out a growl. âDaddy, huh?â he asked, rolling his hips and making your eyes roll back. âThatâs a new one,â he continued. âAlright, baby. We can go with that.âÂ
âYou like it when daddy fucks you from behind?â
You nodded vigorously. âYes daddy,â you repeated. âSay it,â Yunho growled, pounding into you, burying himself to the hilt and making you squeal. âI like it!â you cried out. âSay it. All of it,â Yunho repeated, pounding into you once more. âYes, I like it!â you almost screamed. âI like it when you fuck me from behind, daddy!â
You felt him sink his teeth into your shoulder, making you whimper as his cock pistoned in and out of you, making your eyes roll back again, stars filling your vision. âThatâs right, baby,â he growled against your skin. âThis pussy is mine. Youâre mine.â You nodded wordlessly but that wasnât enough for Yunho.
âSay it.â he ordered. âIâm yours, daddy,â you answered.
âAnd who does this pussy belong to?â
âItâs y-yours, daddy,â you choked out, tears flowing freely and streaming down your cheeks.
âGood girl,â Yunho groaned. âOh fuck, youâre such a good girl. Youâre my good little girl, arenât you?â he moaned. Your second orgasm was approaching, your cunt convulsing around Yunhoâs cock as his thrusts grew more erratic and sloppy. The sound of his cock thrusting into you was audible over the crackling of the fire.
âFuck, fuck, fuck,â you heard him curse. âMâgonna cum,â he warned you. âWhere you want it, angel?â he whispered. âI-inside me, daddy, please,â you moaned. âPlease cum inside me!â Yunho let out a low growl, hips slapping against your ass with renewed eagerness, groaning into your ear as he came, filling your cunt with his release.
You felt more and more of it pump into you, filling you almost to the brim as he continued to fuck his cum into you. âOh fuck,â he groaned. âOh, god, I love you,â he whispered as he continued to thrust, his movements slowing. âI love you so much,â he continued. âTell me you love me, too, please,â he murmured against your shoulder.
âI love you, too,â you moaned as he finally stilled, burying his cock deep inside your walls with a huff.
The only sound other than your ragged breathing was the crackling of the fire as you both came down from your respective highs. You didnât dare move until Yunho did and for a while, you were certain heâd fallen asleep on top of you until he finally shifted.
He pushed himself up and slowly pulled out of you, grimacing as some of his release spilled out of you, running down the insides of your thighs. âDonât move,â he instructed and got up, grabbing his underwear and pulling it on before walking over to the kitchen and grabbing a towel.
You heard the water run briefly before he returned, wiping the insides of your thighs and carefully wiping your skin clean of his cum. âAre you okay?â he asked as he helped you roll over onto your back. âIâm great,â you said, your voice almost far off, a dazed expression on your face.
Yunho chuckled as he continued to wipe you down before grabbing your shirt and helping you into it.
Once he was certain you were clean, he tossed the used towel onto the coffee table and laid down next to you. âDid you mean it?â you asked finally as he pulled a blanket over the two of you and pulled you into his arms. âMean what?â he asked, watching as you turned in his hold to look at him.
âWhen you said you love me?â
Yunhoâs expression softened and he pressed his lips against yours tenderly. âOf course,â he answered. âI do love you. Itâs always been you, Y/N. I only want you,â he continued. You snuggled against him, listening to his heart beating in his chest. âDid you mean it?â he asked after a moment and you nodded immediately. âMhm, Iâve loved you for a long time, Yunho,â you replied.
âFor me, youâve always been it.â
You pulled back to look up at him. Yunhoâs lips spread into a grin before kissing you again, a bit more passionately. âYumi isnât going to like this,â he added softly. You shrugged, no longer caring now that you knew your feelings were reciprocated. âI think sheâd rather us be happy,â you said softly.
âWeâll just have to break it to her easily. We were both stupid and in love,â Yunho replied. Your eyes fluttered shut as you started to drift off.
When you awoke it was to the slam of a distant door. You opened your eyes slowly, bright light pouring into the room. You were still lying in Yunhoâs arms on the floor in front of the fireplace. You relaxed as Yunho snored softly. The next moment the front door opened and your eyes snapped open.
Before you could scramble away from Yunho who was starting to stir, you heard an all too familiar voice.
âWhat the hell is all this?â Yumi shouted. You sat up quickly, rubbing your eyes as you looked up at your best friend who was glaring down at the two of you. Yunho pushed himself up. âWe can explain,â he said quickly. Yumi narrowed her eyes before her expression softened.
âOh you donât need to explain,â she said, chuckling.Â
âIâve known for years that the two of you were hot for each other. Just waited for it to come out.â
You turned to look at Yunho who looked just as stunned as you.
âJust do me a favor,â Yumi added, making the two of you look at her.
âKeep the fucking to a minimum, or just keep it down,â she asked.
âI forgot to buy earbuds.â

"Expelled, what do you mean?" you exclaim, the words of your professor hitting you like a sudden, unwelcome storm.
Your professor leans forward, her expression grave. "If you donât make a change," she replies, her tone weighted with concern. "Your recent academic performance has been far from ideal, and it's no secret that you'd rather be out partying and socialising than studying. I've tried to advocate for you for the past few months, but even the student council is beginning to lose faith. You need to make a change, or else they will remove you from this program."
The news leaves you feeling torn. You have always been drawn to the vibrant social scene on campus, and it was no secret that you enjoy a good party. Balancing your studies with your social life has been a constant struggle, and it has finally caught up with you in the form of this dire warning.
Taking a deep breath, you try to gather your thoughts, your mind a whirlwind of confusion. "I don't know what to do, though," you admit, your voice tinged with both desperation and uncertainty.
Professor Turner fixes her gaze on you, her expression stern yet caring. Her half-moon glasses perch on the edge of her nose lends an air of wisdom to her appearance. She had always been one of the few teachers who genuinely believed in your potential, even if you hadn't quite lived up to it yet.Â
She leans forward slightly, her eyes locked on yours. "You can start by addressing that persistent partying issue," she says, her tone deadpan but not without a hint of exasperation. "I've always seen your talent, but it's time for you to believe in it too. My patience for you is wearing thin, and the threat of expulsion is very real. You need to get your studies together, and fast."
Her words strike a chord, and bow your head down, tears starting to form in your eyes. The urgency of the situation finally sinks in, and you know it is time to make a change.Â
Professor Turner's expression softens, and she leans back in her chair, understanding the turmoil in your eyes. "I know it can be challenging to balance both, but it's essential. Perhaps you can establish a more structured study schedule and limit your social activities during the week.â
Looking up at her, you notice the warmth and unwavering belief in her eyes, which provides a glimmer of hope amidst your uncertainty.Â
She continues, "In fact, I found a tutor for you. Someone had to cancel on him at the last minute, and he's willing to take you on until your grades improve. Heâs an incredibly sweet person, his grades are the best in my class."
Although you would rather avoid any study sessions or anything to do with your university academics, you reluctantly take the paper showcasing the number of the tutor your professor found for you. The paper displays the name "Jeong Yunho" along with his contact number. You have never heard of him before, which was unusual considering you considered yourself as a social butterfly who knew nearly everyone on campus. It occurred to you that there truly was a first time for everything.
As you held the paper, a sense of curiosity overcame your reluctance. You pondered the mystery behind this unknown tutor and wondered what kind of person Jeong Yunho was.Â
â
Clutching your bag tightly under your arm, you reluctantly made your way towards the library on a Friday evening. With every step, you grumbled to yourself, yearning to be at a lively party instead, drowning your sorrows about the looming threat of expulsion. The future seemed bleak, and hope was a distant memory. When you left Professor Turner's office earlier, you almost crumpled the paper she had given you, fully intent on disregarding any contact with whoever the hell Yunho is.
The journey to the library is slow, partly because you have never set foot in the place before, and partly due to your resistance against the impending academic endeavour. You had never planned on being a library regular; it wasn't part of your college vision. Yet, the harsh reality of the potential consequences weigh heavily on your mind. Losing your education at this point would not only set you back years but also jeopardise all the hard work you have invested to even make it to this esteemed school in the first place.
With every reluctant step, you canât help but reflect on the choices that have led you here. It was time to face the music, find this enigmatic Yunho, and see if, against all odds, he held the key to salvaging your academic future.Â
Pushing open the heavy wooden doors of the university library, you're immediately greeted by the familiar scent of aged books and hushed whispers. The soft lighting casts a warm glow over the rows of shelves filled with knowledge, and you can't help but feel out of place in this quiet atmosphere. You've rarely ventured into this sanctuary of academia, and your lack of familiarity is evident as you scan the cavernous space, unsure of where to start
Stepping further into the library, your frustration and reluctance grow. You have little idea of who you're even looking for. The notion that Yunho might be some stereotypical "nerd-looking" guy briefly crosses your mind, and you can't help but feel a twinge of guilt for the shallow assumption.
After several minutes of wandering the labyrinthine aisles, you find yourself standing in the centre of the library, defeated and ready to give up on this wild goose chase. You can't even muster the energy to be disappointed; you're too focused on your own internal battle between academic responsibilities and your desire for the social scene.
Just as you turn to head for the exit, your hasty retreat is halted by an unexpected and rather forceful collision. You practically bump into a broad, solid chest that seemingly appears out of nowhere. Startled, you stagger back a step, nearly dropping the papers that you have clenched in your hand.
Looking up, you're met with the sight of a tall man, much taller than you. The first thing you notice is his thick black-framed glasses perched on his nose, giving him a rather studious appearance. However, his eyes sparkle with warmth and curiosity, and his friendly, wide smile catches you off guard.
"I'm sorry," you stammer, feeling flustered by the unexpected encounter.
The man's voice is deep and soothing and light-hearted as he replies, "No need to apologise. Are you looking for someone, or can I help you find a book or something?"
You hesitate for a moment, unsure if you should reveal your purpose in the library. But the kindness in his eyes and the genuine desire to assist make you decide to share. "Actually, I'm trying to find someone named Yunho. I was told he could help me with my studies."
His smile widens, his eyes scrunching in the process, and he extends a hand in greeting. "Yunho, at your service. It's nice to meet you."
You shake his hand, feeling a mix of surprise and relief. Yunho is not what you had expected, and the moment you assumed he'd be a stereotypical "nerd" is now a distant memory. As you look into his friendly eyes, a sense of hope and optimism begins to replace the frustration and doubt that had plagued you earlier.
"You're Yunho?" you ask, a hint of surprise in your voice, as he begins to lead you towards where it appears he was sitting.
"Yes, is it hard to believe?" Yunho responds, a slight nervousness in his tone. "I can get my ID out if you're sceptical." He quickly reaches into his pocket, his ears turning a shade of red as he rushes to grab his ID.
Hastily, you halt him, not wanting to put him through the trouble of proving his identity. Silently, you smile to yourself, he is sweet.
You and Yunho take a seat at a quiet corner table within the library, and you find yourself fidgeting with unease in your chair. Yunho, observant of your discomfort, wisely refrains from commenting, valuing your need for privacy.
"Alright," Yunho began, adjusting his glasses with a hint of nervousness in his demeanour. He reaches into his bag, carefully pulling out two well-worn textbooks and a stack of papers, placing them on the table in front of you.Â
"I wasn't entirely sure which topics you needed help with, so I brought materials for all five modules you're studying this semester."
You examine the books, their covers showing the marks of countless readers who had delved into their pages.Â
"Are these your books?" you inquire, surprised by the thoughtfulness he has put into his preparation.
Yunho shakes his head, his cheeks flushing slightly as he admits, "No, I borrowed them from the library. Microbiology isn't my field of study."
Your disbelief is evident as you fix your gaze on him. The rosy hue on his cheeks deepens as he fiddles with the sleeves of his oversized sweater and adjusts his glasses nervously. "You don't study microbiology?" you ask, genuinely surprised.
"No," Yunho confesses, his embarrassment now fully on display. "I just study it as a hobby."
You canât help but be impressed by his dedication and the sheer audacity of teaching a subject purely out of passion.Â
"That's impressive," you state. You were well aware that to tutor a subject officially, one typically needed to pass a test administered by the school, certifying one's proficiency. The fact that Yunho was willing to help without any formal obligation was both admirable and unexpected.
Curiosity gets the better of you, you inquire, "What else do you tutor?"
Yunho hesitates for a moment, his fingers still absently adjusting his glasses. "Um, history, algebra, and applied sciences," he finally reveals, his modesty and shyness contrasting with his evident knowledge.
As you listened to him speak, you found yourself captivated not only by his academic prowess but also by the way he wore his thick glasses and his endearing shyness. Yunho was turning out to be a surprising and impressive individual, and you couldn't help but feel a growing fascination with the person who had just entered your academic world.
âSo how much do you know about Microbiology?â Yunho questions, thinning through some of the papers in front of him.
âUh, the basics I guess.â you mumble, your knowledge not the best seeing as you have missed many lectures the past few months.
Yunho's gaze meets yours, and you sense him observing your unease as his eyes traverse your form.Â
With a soft tone, he reassures you, "itâs okay, you can be honest. I'm here to help you, so you have to be honest. Then I can help you in the best way possible.âÂ
For a fleeting moment, his words touch your heart, a warmth spreading within. Yet, you quickly suppress the feeling, reminding yourself that there is no time for such emotions in your busy life.
âIâve forgotten a lot, to be honest.âÂ
âThatâs okay, we will start with the basics today, to refresh your memory.âÂ
Under the soft glow of the study lamps in your cosy corner of the library, Yunho begins to unravel the basics. The excitement in his eyes was unmistakable, his passion for the subject evident with every word he spoke.
"Alright," he begins, tracing his finger along the pages filled with complex diagrams and scientific jargon. "As you likely already know, microbiology is the study of tiny organisms, like bacteria, viruses, and fungi. These microorganisms are everywhere, and they play a crucial role in our lives, from the food we eat to the diseases we encounter."
Yunho's explanation is clear and concise, making sure to break down complex ideas into easily digestible pieces.Â
He continues, "Uhh, the basics: the three main types of microorganisms. First, there are bacteria. They're single-celled organisms that can be both good and bad. Some bacteria help with digestion in your gut, while others can cause diseases."
You nod along, your memory starting to be refreshed. Yunho's enthusiasm is contagious, and you find yourself getting more and more interested in the subject.
He flips to a page with colourful illustrations of various microorganisms. "Then there are viruses, which are even smaller than bacteria. They're not considered living because they can't reproduce on their own. Instead, they need a host cell to replicate. Viruses are responsible for many illnesses, like the flu or COVID."
You absorb the information, appreciating how Yunho made the complex concept of viruses relatable. "And the third type?" you prompt.
"Ah, fungi," Yunho smiles. "Fungi are more complex microorganisms. They can be beneficial, like the yeast used in baking bread, or harmful, causing infections like athlete's foot. They're known for their unique cell structure and reproduction methods."
Whilst he explains, he encourages you to ask questions, making sure you are following along. The library's serene ambiance, coupled with Yunho's patient teaching, created a comfortable learning atmosphere. He didn't rush, taking his time to make sure you grasped each concept before moving on.
He continued to cover the basics of microbiology, including the significance of studying these microorganisms, their role in medicine, agriculture, and environmental science. Yunho's passion for the subject was evident in the way he animatedly discussed the various branches of microbiology, from medical microbiology to environmental microbiology, each with its unique focus and importance.
In the quiet of the library, during this unexpected first study session, you find yourself lost in thought. This wasn't how you had imagined it would go, and you canât help but be impressed and thankful for Yunho's extraordinary patience and intelligence.Â
You had initially expected a conventional tutoring experience, but Yunho has proven to be so much more. His explanations were crystal clear, his passion for the subject contagious, and his willingness to help you with genuine enthusiasm is striking. He isnât just a smart individual; he is a rare combination of intelligence and empathy.
You marvel at the fact that he wasn't the stereotypical snobby, know-it-all type who might look down on your abilities. Instead, Yunho is an embodiment of understanding and non-judgment. As he continues to make the complex subject of microbiology comprehensible, you canât help but feel immense gratitude.
The study session with Yunho nears its end and you find yourself in a much different frame of mind than when you had started. Initially apprehensive about having a tutor, you have been pleasantly surprised by the experience. Your worries have somewhat melted away, replaced by a growing sense of confidence and gratitude.
Yunho, having covered a significant portion of the microbiology basics, closes the textbook with a satisfied smile. "I think we've made some good progress today," he says. "But there is still a lot we have to cover before exams next month. I expect to see you every Wednesday and Friday until then." Yunho attempts a stern voice, jokingly pointing his finger at you.
You chuckle, rolling your eyes. âYes sir.â you salute him, acting back on his funny actions.Â
Gathering your belongings, you prepare to leave the library, yet Yunho surprises you with a genuine offer.Â
"If you ever have questions or need further assistance, don't hesitate to reach out. I'm here to help, and I enjoy teaching. We can meet on more days if you need."
You smile at the sincerity in his voice, âthatâs okay, Yunho.â you say before turning towards the exit.
Walking out of the library, a lightness seems to settle upon your chest, replacing the initial apprehension with a sense of accomplishment. Glancing at your phone, you note that it is only ten in the evening. This realisation fills you with a newfound sense of freedom and opportunity.
With a contented smile, you contemplate the evening unfolding before you. The memory of the house party, just a short walk down the road, initially seemed distant due to your earlier commitment to the study session with Yunho. Despite knowing that you should be heading home to review your notes, a mischievous thought crept into your mind â what Yunho didn't know wouldn't hurt him.
A sly smirk plays on your lips as you begin to make your way toward the house party. You canât deny the allure of a night filled with fun and perhaps a little indulgence. Yet, as you take your first steps, a fleeting moment of hesitation overcomes you. You pause, reflecting on the considerable effort Yunho had put into helping you today.
It is a big realisation. Few, if any, have ever invested so much time and effort in your growth and success. Your heart warms for a brief second at the thought, but just as quickly, you push aside those emotions. You have your reasons â a past that still haunted you, and the fear of getting your heart broken once more. You canât afford to be vulnerable.
Despite your better judgement, you continue your journey to the house party, determined to enjoy the night to the fullest.Â
Unbeknownst to you, though, Yunho's presence would linger in your thoughts throughout the night.
â
Several weeks have passed since the start of your study sessions with Yunho, and it has been quite the transformative period. Initially, you had been reluctant to engage in any additional study outside of your scheduled sessions with him. But over time, Yunho's presence had become a reassuring constant in your life, offering a sense of peace and support that you couldn't quite admit to yourself.
During the past couple of weeks, you found yourself increasingly immersed in your books and studies, even sometimes choosing academic pursuits over the lively parties that your large, party-loving friend group frequented.Â
The shift in your priorities had not gone unnoticed by your friends, who seemed disheartened by your withdrawal from their activities. A residue of guilt clings to you every time you opted to hit the books rather than attend a party. Your âfriendsâ have grown vocal about it, casting you as a bore and a waste of time, berating you for supposedly losing your popularity.
Amid this turmoil, your study sessions with Yunho had become a sanctuary, a refuge from the social pressure and expectations. What you didn't fully realise was the profound positive impact these sessions were having on you, not just academically but also in terms of your personal growth.
Just a few days ago, you faced your first exam since you had started your sessions with Yunho and today you are receiving the results. You are well aware that if you do not pass this, it is not a huge deal seeing as it is not a final exam. Yet you do need to prove yourself to the student council by at least getting a D.Â
The anticipation is palpable in Professor Turner's classroom, the air thick with nervous energy. She stands at the front of the room, clutching a stack of papers that hold the results of the previous week's exam. Your heart races as you sit there, your anxiety mounting with each passing moment.
Whilst Professor Turner begins to distribute the grades, your palms grow clammy, and your heart races even faster.Â
As Professor Turner finally reaches your desk, she hands you the paper with a warm smile that holds an underlying pride. In the corner of the sheet, a vibrant red 'C' was marked. It isnât the highest grade in the class, but at this moment, it feels like a monumental achievement.
A sense of accomplishment washes over you like a warm wave, as you realise that all the effort, Yunho's unwavering support, and Professor Turner's belief in you is beginning to pay off.Â
You cannot wait to let Yunho know about the news.
The campus courtyard was alive with activity as students milled about, enjoying the pleasant weather and the break from their studies. Among the various clusters of friends, you spot Yunho, standing with a small group of his own. His friends seem to be engaged in an animated conversation, their voices and laughter filling the air.Â
You observe Yunho for a brief moment, his expression appearing neutral as he attentively listens to his friend's conversation. Your gaze then drifts down to the sight of Yunho pulling up the sleeves of his knitted sweater, revealing his unexpectedly well-defined forearms. The contrast between his baggy clothing and his toned physique momentarily catches you off guard.
But as you approach, your excitement is impossible to contain, the momentary thought of how toned Yunho is elsewhere leaves your mind. Your heart races, and you feel a surge of joy within you. The sense of accomplishment overwhelms you, and you canât wait to share the news with Yunho, regardless of the audience.
Without hesitation, you stride purposefully toward him, determination etched across your face. The moment you reach him, you suddenly feel a little small under the eyes of his friends who seem to have noticed you approaching.
âYunho,â you say gently, attempting to get his attention.
Yunho turns around, surprised to see you talking to him outside of your study sessions.
âHey, whatâs up?â Yunho questions, his attention fully on you as he forgets his friends existence.
âI passed the exam,â you beam, âwell barely it was only a C.â
Yunhoâs eyes widen as his face breaks into a bright, genuine smile. His eyes, behind his thick glasses, now sparkle with delight.Â
"That's amazing! I knew you could do it!" he exclaims, his enthusiasm matching yours.
His friends canât resist exchanging glances among themselves, finding it rather peculiar to witness your conversation with Yunho. After all, you are a highly popular figure in their school, while Yunho remains a reserved and relatively unknown individual.
The smile of pride that graces Yunho's face stirs a flurry of butterflies in your stomach, a sensation that has become increasingly common in recent times. Yet, you can't quite bring yourself to acknowledge the feeling, even to yourself.
Yunho's hand rises with a touch of hesitation before gently resting on the top of your head, playfully ruffling your hair to convey a silent 'good job.' Your entire face warms at the simple gesture, a blush creeping across your cheeks.
"Now, it's time to focus on those major tests, okay?" Yunho exclaims, his voice brimming with enthusiasm as he makes an effort to infuse you with the same excitement.
"Yes, sir," you respond with a playful salute, evoking a chuckle from his lips. Saluting Yunho has become somewhat of a habit, and he finds it endearing every time you do it.
âIâll see you tomorrow then?âÂ
You offer a nod, a warm smile gracing your face as you wave and bid farewell to Yunho and his friends.
Walking away, you feel a deep sense of gratitude for Yunho's unwavering support, not just as a tutor but as a friend who is being a great help in your journey toward success.Â
His encouragement had been a driving force in your recent accomplishments, and you couldn't have been happier to share this victory with him and his friends in the vibrant courtyard, a testament to the bonds forged through your academic pursuits.
As you depart, Yunho's gaze lingers on your retreating figure, a faint smile gracing his lips as he replays the conversation in his mind. The moment you vanish from his sight, his friends swivel toward him, their faces etched with bewilderment and curiosity.
"When you mentioned you were tutoring someone, you didn't say it was them?" Wooyoung exclaims, genuine confusion stemming from the exchange they just witnessed.
Yunho, momentarily caught off guard by their reactions, inquires, "What do you mean?" He shifts his attention toward the group, ready to address their inquiries.
"Dude, she's the most popular person in this school; you don't just get to talk to them," San chimes in, his astonishment mirroring Wooyoung's.
Yunho, however, didn't buy into the notion of social hierarchies. He pokes San in the forehead, responding, "We're not in high school anymore, and there's no such thing as popular girls and guys."
Wooyoung's expression softens as he mulls over your interaction. "And they were so nice," he continues, noting Yunho's reaction. "I didn't expect someone with their status to be so nice."
Yunho's annoyance flares at the stereotype implied in Wooyoung's words, his brow furrowing. "Don't hold such stereotypes," he chastises his friend. "They... they are the sweetest person I know."
San's eyes widen as he glances at Yunho, connecting the dots. "Holy moly," he exclaims. "You like them, don't you?"
Yunho scrambles to hush him up, his cheeks flushing. "Shut up," he grumbles, though the embarrassment in his voice hints at a deeper truth.
â
âUgh, Iâm never going to pass this test,â you groan as you throw your head into your hands, frustration emitting from your every fibre.
"Come on, don't be so pessimistic. You've got this, and I believe in you," Yunho exclaims, his warm smile casting a ray of encouragement over the room. He watches as you succumb to a hissy fit, a mix of frustration and self-doubt, a smile covering his features at your actions.
"You always say that, but this time I am doomed," you groan, your voice muffled by your hands as you bury your face in them.
Gently, Yunho reaches out and takes your hands, coaxing them away from your face. The contact sends a brief tremor through your heart, and you canât help but notice the warmth of his touch.
"You can do it; you're the smartest person I know," Yunho says softly, locking his eyes with yours. His words catch you off guard, and you look at him, a puzzled expression furrowing your brow.Â
"I'm not smart; if I were, I wouldn't need a tutor," you state flatly, a hint of self-deprecation in your tone, which elicits a chuckle from Yunho.
"I'd be an idiot not to see your potential. I just think you had your priorities muddled when you first came here," he remarks.
Curious, you probe further. "What do you mean?"
"I mean it's no secret you enjoy a party," Yunho replies.
"No, before that."
"Oh," Yunho responds, and he continues, seemingly on a roll, "Well, I'd have to be blind not to see how smart you actually are. You're very capable of applying knowledge and solving problems. You have an excellent memory; most of the time, I only have to explain something once, and you've already processed it and applied it. It's very impressive. You're incredibly talented too. I see all the drawings you do in your book when youâre bored."
Yunho continues his praise, yet he is unaware of the emotions that well up within you. When he eventually glances in your direction, he is taken aback to find your eyes glistening with tears and a smile gracing your face.
"Did I say something wrong? I'm so sorry if it wasn't my intention," he inquires quickly, a sense of concern crossing his features as he worries he may have inadvertently hurt your feelings.
You shake your head and wipe away a tear, still smiling. "No, Yunho. It's just... no one really sees me like that anymore."
Now Yunho is confused for a different reason. "What do you mean?"
"I mean, most people see me as the 'popular girl' or 'the life of the party.' I don't know. It's nice to be seen as something other than the stereotype.â
"I know what you mean," Yunho says, his hand ruffling his hair as his cheeks turn a faint shade of red.
"What do you mean?" you ask, intrigued by his response.
"Well, I'm usually seen as a nerd or a loner. People only talk to me when they need help with assignments or answers for exams. It was nice at first, feeling needed, but now it just feels like I'm being used in a way. I only have two friends, and they spend more time with each other than they do with me." Yunho admits, his gaze drifting down to his fingers, where he idly picks at a piece of dead skin on his nail.
"I know it's weird coming from me since you're literally my tutor, but I don't think your intelligence defines you," You begin, causing Yunho to look up at you with a puzzled expression, waiting for you to elaborate.
You continue, your words flowing with sincerity, "You're a sweetheart, Yunho. I see you helping people, not because you have to, but because you genuinely enjoy it. You're kind, a gentleman, and incredibly thoughtful. Your sense of humour is beyond anyone I've ever met before; it's refreshing to talk to someone whose humour isn't just 'your momma' jokes or making others look bad to get a laugh."
Yunho furrows his eyebrows, taking in your words, his expression almost studying them.
"Plus," you add, a warm smile gracing your face, "whether you like it or not, I consider you my friend."
â
The evening sun casts a warm glow over the campus as you join your friend group in the bustling cafeteria. Laughter and chatter filled the air as you settled in with them at your usual table. The topic of conversation quickly turns to the party happening later in the night, an event that has become increasingly rare for you to attend. The thought of partying when there was a crucial final exam on the horizon weighs heavily on your mind.
"Hey, you are coming to the party tonight, right?" your friend asks, a glimmer of anticipation in their eyes.
You hesitate for a moment, knowing what your priorities were. "I wish I could, but I really need to study for the final exam," you explain.
Immediately, your friends' expressions grow sour, and they exchange incredulous glances. "Again? You're always studying or making excuses. It's like you're avoiding us," one of them remarks, frustration creeping into their tone.
Their words sting, and you feel the pressure of their expectations bearing down on you. "I'm not avoiding anyone; I just have to prioritise my studies, you guys know I might get expelled." you insist, your voice wavering slightly as you try to maintain your composure.
But your friends arenât satisfied with your explanation.Â
"You never come to parties anymore. You're turning into a loser nerd, just like that loner Yunho," another friend declares with a snide tone, and the others chime in agreement, chuckles leaving their mouths.
The words strike a nerve, and you canât hold back any longer. How dare they insult Yunho, who has been there for you during your toughest times of studying? The anger that has been building up inside you erupts.
"Yunho is not a loser," you snap, your voice filled with indignation. "He's been more of a friend to me than any of you. If you can't understand the importance of my studies and support me, then I don't need âfriendsâ like you."
At that moment, you make a decision. These friends are just immature individuals who only care about getting drunk and partying. They value popularity and shallow connections over your well-being and academic success. You have had enough of pretending to be something you weren't just to fit in.
"I don't care about popularity if it means I have to be fake and have fake-ass friends," you exclaim. With that, you push your chair back and leave the table, leaving your former friends behind, realising that true friendship means understanding and respecting your priorities, not forcing you to compromise your goals.
Walking away from the cafeteria, you feel a mix of anger, relief, and sadness. It was painful to let go of friendships that had once meant so much to you, but you knew that your academic journey is more important than trying to fit into a mould that didn't truly represent who you were.
Tears well up in your eyes, and you canât prevent them from spilling over as you stand just outside the school gates. You pay no mind to the curious glances of onlookers, for your emotions are too overwhelming to be hidden. You arenât entirely certain if these tears are born of sadness, frustration, or a turbulent mix of both.
Without even thinking, you pull out your phone and dial Yunhoâs number. You are not sure if you want to be alone tonight, yet you definitely do not want to go to a party. The only person you know will be available is Yunho. Maybe you can have an extra study session tonight.
It takes the phone only five seconds before Yunho picks up, his voice bright as he greets you.
"Hey, Yunho," you begin, attempting to maintain a sense of composure, but the tremor in your voice reveals your unease.
Yunho's keen ear picks up on the shakiness in your tone, and concern washes over him as he responds with a soft, soothing voice, "What's wrong?"
You sniffle, trying to brush off the emotions threatening to overcome you. "Nothing, it's nothing," you reply, your voice still carrying the traces of distress. "Are you free to study? I don't have anything to do, and I need to go over a few things."
Yunho is aware that a big party is scheduled for tonight, information he had gathered from Wooyoung, who also enjoys such gatherings. He finds it puzzling that you, too, had initially expressed an interest in attending the event, but he refrained from voicing his curiosity.
"I am free, but the library is closed today, and the school is closing soon too," Yunho explains, an idea begins to take root in his mind, and he hesitates before asking, "You could come to my place?"
The offer hangs in the air for a moment, full of unspoken implications. Yunho's excitement about the prospect of having you over is palpable, yet he tries to maintain his composure. He knows that his place will offer a quiet environment for studying.
The offer hangs in the air, and for a brief moment, you hesitate. You are well aware that accepting Yunho's invitation would signify a slight shift in your academic tutor relationship. The unspoken implications dance in the silence between you.
Yunho, on the other hand, finds his nervousness manifesting in the way he chews the inside of his cheek. His heart races as he awaits your response, unsure of how you would react to his proposition.
Despite your initial reservations, you canât seem to bring yourself to decline his offer. The warmth and genuine concern that Yunho has consistently shown makes you feel safe and comfortable around him, and you find it difficult to resist the idea of studying in his presence, even if it means stepping slightly outside the boundaries of your tutor-student dynamic.
âWhatâs your address?âÂ
Making your way to Yunho's apartment, the anticipation of seeing him outside the usual academic setting adds an extra layer of excitement to your steps. The prospect of stepping into his personal space, even for a study session, feels like a small adventure.
You reach his apartment door and take a moment to collect yourself, your heart beating just a bit faster with each passing second. When you knock, the immediate rustling sounds from the other side of the door indicate that Yunho is indeed home.
The door opens, revealing a sight that takes your breath away. You are accustomed to seeing Yunho in smart attire, his hair always neatly styled, and he consistently looks presentable. However, the man who stands before you now is quite different.
Yunho is dressed in a loose grey T-shirt that hangs comfortably on his frame, and he wears a pair of black sweatpants that appear as cosy as they are casual. His hair is fluffy and untamed, in stark contrast to his usually well-groomed appearance. Yet, for some reason, this version of Yunho is just as captivating.
He still wears his thick glasses, but the way he looks now, so relaxed and approachable, makes your heart flutter. You canât help but notice the subtle differences that render him all the more appealing. Your eyes linger on his toned arms, a part of him that was typically concealed beneath his attire. The sight of them, revealed in the simple T-shirt, is enough to send a rush of warmth throughout your body.
Yunho's appearance today is a stark departure from his usual academic demeanour, and it leaves you both pleasantly surprised and, admittedly, a little flustered.Â
"Hey, uh, you can come in," Yunho stammers, a faint blush covering his cheeks.
You step inside, casting a brief but appreciative glance around Yunho's apartment. The space is on the smaller side, but it exudes a cosy charm that instantly puts you at ease. The apartment is immaculately clean and well-organised with a sense of tranquillity that contrasts with the bustling student life outside.
The living room is adorned with shelves, and the shelves are full of an impressive array of books, neatly arranged in rows. The sight of so many books gives you a glimpse into the depth of his knowledge and his passion for education.
As you look around, you notice a comfortable-looking sofa with a warm throw blanket tossed over it, a sign of a space that was both functional and inviting. The soft glow of a desk lamp illuminated a study area with a well-kept desk, hinting at countless hours of diligent work.
Yunho's apartment is not large, but it feels like a haven for anyone seeking a peaceful refuge from the outside world. It reminds you of Yunho.
"Do you want something to drink or eat?" Yunho asks, his voice tinged with a touch of nervousness as he observes your exploration of his apartment.
You take a moment to absorb the cosy ambiance of his living space before replying, "Have you had dinner?"
Yunho's cheeks flush a deeper shade of red, and a small, endearing smile graced his lips. âI haven't yet, I was going to order something later.â
âCan we eat together? I haven't eaten since this morning.â
Yunho grumbles your name, reprimanding you, "I told you, you need to eat regularly; it helps with..."
You finish his sentence with a soft chuckle, "Concentration, I know, Yu."
The use of the affectionate nickname "Yu" slips easily from your lips, and you are unaware of the profound impact it has on Yunho. His heart races at the sound of it, though he tries to hide his reaction with a smile.Â
You continue, "We can eat while studying, right?" Your suggestion seems to lighten the mood, and Yunho is more than willing to accommodate your request.
âOf course.â
Yunho and you sit on the floor of his living room, your books and notes spread out on his coffee table, which also hold the remnants of an empty pizza box from your meal earlier. This makeshift study space is cosy, and the atmosphere is filled with the shared pursuit of knowledge.
Yunho is positioned in front of you, as he often is during your study sessions, carefully watching you as you diligently take notes. He couldn't help but admire your dedication and determination, and his heart swelled with pride as he saw your progress.Â
As you write, a strand of hair slips from behind your ear and falls in front of your face. It is a simple, everyday occurrence, but to Yunho, it is a moment of subtle beauty. He feels a strong urge to reach out and tuck that strand of hair behind your ear, to be close to you in that small, intimate way. However, he holds back, not wanting to push any boundaries that existed between you.Â
He watches with fascination as you decide to tie your hair up, using a hairband that was on your wrist. The act of gathering your hair and securing it in a ponytail seems almost magical to him. Yunho canât deny the allure of how you look with your hair up, a sense of casual elegance that tugs at his heart.
In this moment, his thoughts stray to less innocent territories, but he quickly redirects his focus to the task at hand. He canât afford to let his mind wander too far, not when the two of you are deep in a study session and he is fairly certain you would never harbour feelings for him in that way.Â
However, the image of you with your hair tied up stays with him, etched into his memory, a reminder of the many facets of your charm that make it increasingly difficult for him to keep his feelings at bay.
You furrow your brows, attempting to decipher a particularly complex passage about pathogens. It is a subject that has always managed to baffle you, and tonight was no exception.
Glancing up, you are caught off guard by the intense gaze of Yunho. He was already intently staring at you, an indescribable emotion in his eyes. Clearing your throat, you shift your focus back to the book, feeling the weight of his attention. Yunho immediately averts his gaze, pretending to be engrossed in his own book.
Taking a deep breath, you decide to take a chance and ask the question that has been bothering you about the microorganism. "Yunho, can you help me with this? I don't quite understand this."
Yunho's attention snaps back to you, his eyes focusing on the book. However, as he leans in to get a better look, the words on the page seem to blur. Determined to help you, he moves closer, sitting next to you on the floor. His arm brushing against yours, his thigh lightly touching yours, creates a subtle yet undeniable physical connection.
Yunho looks down at your bare thighs and he mentally curses you for wearing a skirt, he isn't sure how to pay attention when you are so close to him.
Yunho begins to explain the terminology and you find it increasingly challenging to concentrate on the subject. Your eyes are locked on his face, drawn to the way his lips move and the subtle changes in his expression as he explains the concepts. His proximity was both distracting and comforting, and you canât help but feel a flutter of excitement in your chest.
You cannot deny the allure of Yunho's presence. His crisp scent, a mix of a rich, woody sweetness and a hint of cologne, fills your senses and sends your mind racing. It is an intoxicating aroma that evokes a sense of freshness and warmth, creating an almost magnetic pull.
Listening to Yunho's explanations, you struggle to keep your focus on the topic at hand. Your eyes remain fixed on his face, capturing the play of emotions and the genuine care he puts into helping you understand. In this moment, the connection between you is undeniable, and the unspoken tension in the air seems to grow with each passing second. Little did you both know the profound effect you are having on each other as you lean against one another, on the verge of something unspoken. The second Yunho moves back to his seat, you suddenly feel awfully cold and empty, yet once again you push the feelings away.
The two of you continue your study session, when Yunho suddenly removes his glasses and rubs his eyes in a gesture of weariness. His actions catch your attention, and your gaze remains locked on his face, momentarily entranced by the change in his appearance.
In all the time you have spent with Yunho, you have never really taken into consideration how handsome he might be without his glasses. Now, as you observe his bare face, you are struck by his natural beauty. His features are chiselled and symmetrical, and there is a timeless quality to his face that make him incredibly appealing.
Yunho's clear eyes, framed by long, dark lashes, hold a depth that you haven't fully appreciated before. His skin was smooth and unblemished, and his lips had a natural rosy hue. It was as if a veil had been lifted, revealing a different charm to him that you have never taken the time to notice.
For a moment, you find yourself in awe of how genuinely handsome he is, and you canât help but appreciate the sight of him with his glasses off.
The study session is coming to a close, and as you gather your books and notes, you notice a curious look on Yunho's face. It is evident that he has something on his mind, and your curiosity gets the best of you.
"Is there something??" you inquire, your voice soft and inquisitive.
Yunho hesitates for a moment, as if choosing his words carefully. "When you called, you seemed upset. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to, but I was just worried."
You look at him with a touch of surprise at his perceptiveness.Â
The fight with your friends wasnât something you had planned to discuss, but you can sense the genuine concern in Yunho's expression, and you feel compelled to share.
Taking a deep breath, you begin to explain the situation, recounting the immaturity and unfair accusations that had led to the fallout. Yunho's shock and disbelief at their behaviour is palpable, and his expression reveals a mix of sympathy and frustration on your behalf.
"I can't believe they'd act like that," Yunho exclaims, his voice laced with sympathy. "It's their loss, you know. You're an incredible person, and they're the ones who are missing out."
Yunho's words are comforting, and the warmth of his understanding makes you feel as if a weight has been lifted from your shoulders. It is a rare and welcome feeling to have someone truly empathise with your situation, and you find yourself grateful for his support.
Yunho watches you with a tender look when suddenly his curiosity gets the best of him, and he asks, "What does your boyfriend think of you coming to my house and spending so much time with me?"
You let out a sigh, the question touching a nerve you are not quite ready to address. "I don't have a boyfriend," you confess, and for a moment, there is a hint of vulnerability in your voice.
Yunho, genuinely surprised, raises an eyebrow, trying to hide his excitement as he peers at you. "Why not?"
You sigh again, your gaze dropping to the floor. "Most of the boys I'm around aren't ready for a relationship. They just want something casual, and I don't want to get my heart broken."
Yunho's brow furrows as he considers your response. "I didn't expect that," he admits, his voice tinged with surprise.
"What do you mean?" you ask, genuinely curious about his reaction.
Yunho sets a piece of paper he had been studying in front of him, "I mean, you have guys falling at your feet. Don't you have one person you enjoy spending time with?"
You ponder on his words, your eyes lingering on Yunho, who is now fully engaged in the paper. He isn't looking at you; instead, his gaze is focused on the words before him.Â
After a moment of contemplation, you respond, "I enjoy spending time with you."
The second the words leave your lips, Yunho looks up from his reading, and the world seems to momentarily stand still around you. His heart skips a beat, and for a fraction of a second, everything else fades into the background. Your words hang in the air, and Yunho lets them sink in.
In this suspended moment, it is as if the universe conspired to create a connection that went beyond friendship and tutoring. Yunho's heart pounds in his chest, and he canât help but meet your gaze with a mixture of surprise and affection.Â
Yunho cannot deny the impact of your confession. It is a sentiment he has quietly harboured but never dared to voice. Now, as the reality of your words settle in, he canât help but feel a sense of joy and gratitude for the special bond that has grown between you, transcending the boundaries of tutor and student.
â
The night is alive with the promise of revelry as you arrive at a party, a whirlwind of colour and sound. It has been some time since you'd attended such an event, focusing intensely on your studies. But tonight is different. Hongjoong, an old friend who had no knowledge of falling out with your other friends, had invited you. You trusted him not to judge your academic priorities, and the prospect of enjoying yourself was too tempting to resist.
You had chosen to let loose for the evening. After an intense study session last night, you felt you deserved a break. You wear a stunning deep purple dress that hugs your curves, accentuating your figure in all the right places. The fabric clings to you like a second skin, and its elegance draws the admiring gazes of many in attendance. Though you are well aware of the attention, you canât help but feel indifferent to it now. Your priorities have shifted, and the superficial desires of others hold little sway over you.
Entering the party, the vibrant atmosphere envelopes you. The music throbs with an infectious beat, and the dance floor pulses with people lost in the rhythm. Laughter and conversations fill the air, and the warm glow of colourful lights creates a dazzling backdrop for the night's festivities.
Spotting Hongjoong in the kitchen, you make your way through the bustling crowd. He is deeply engrossed in a lively conversation with some of his friends, a characteristic grin lighting up his face. A sense of nostalgia and anticipation welled up within you as you drew closer.
You approach Hongjoong, who is mingling near the drinks table, a welcoming smile on his face as he spots you.Â
âDo you want a drink?â He offers, but you decline, stating that you have an early lecture the next morning.Â
Hongjoong nods understandingly, knowing you are dedicated to your studies. You are grateful for his response, as he does not press the issue but simply smiles and continues with the conversation.
âSo youâve gone back to your nerd roots,â Hongjoong jokes as he hands you a cup of cola.
You laugh as you take the cup, âitâs been a while since I've studied this hard,â
âYou were always stuck in a book in highschool,âÂ
âItâs nice to feel like my brain isn't rotting anymore,â you exclaim laughing.
âIâll cheers to that,â
As you chat with Hongjoong, you enjoy catching up and the lively atmosphere of the party. When all of a sudden you see a familiar figure from the corner of your eye. At first, you thought your mind might be playing tricks on you, but as you turn your head, you realise it was indeed who you thought it was.
Quickly, you bid a quick goodbye to Hongjoong and make your way through the crowd, heading straight for the person, who seems to be stumbling around slightly.Â
Concern etched on your face, you approach him and ask, "Yunho, what on earth are you doing here?"
Yunho's expression is a mix of surprise and embarrassment as he struggles to regain his composure. "Uh⊠Iâm not really sure," he admits, his voice tinged with nervousness.
You canât help but feel a combination of amusement and warmth at his unexpected presence. Yunho, who usually exudes an air of composed intelligence, seems to be a bit out of his element in the party scene. Nonetheless, you appreciated the effort he made to be there.Â
"Are you okay?" You question, his anxious eyes dart around the crowded room, taking in the chaotic atmosphere of the party.
Yunho hesitates for a moment before admitting, "Would it be weird if I said I don't like it here?"
A warm smile graces your face, understanding his unease in this unfamiliar setting. Without hesitation, you reach out and gently grab his hand, your fingers interlocking boldly. Yunho is taken aback by the physical contact, feeling the warmth of your hand in his, and his heart flutters in response.
You lead him to a more secluded area of the house where the music is not as deafening, and the crowd is much thinner. The change of scenery provides a welcome respite from the overwhelming chaos of the main party area. Yunho canât ignore the way your small hands feel in his large ones, the sensation sending a shiver down his spine. It is a simple gesture, but it makes him feel closer to you, dispelling some of his unease.
In the quieter, more secluded area of the house, you and Yunho find a temporary refuge from the bustling party.Â
"What are you really doing here?" you ask, curiosity in your eyes.
Yunho's expression shifts, and he admits, "Wooyoung dragged me here. I didn't really want to come, and I already don't like it." His eyes scan the room, taking in the scene around him.
For a moment, Yunho's gaze settles on you, and he notices your choice of attire, a short, form-fitting dress that accentuates your curves. It is a striking sight that leaves an indelible impression on him. His mind wanders to non-innocent places, etching the image of you in this dress into his memory. He canât deny that you look stunning, and his thoughts momentarily venture into uncharted territory.
Although his initial discomfort at the party has faded, the sight of you in that dress stirs something within him, something he has only thought of late at night. It is an unexpected sight that leaves Yunho in a state of internal turmoil, struggling to keep his thoughts in check as he tries to focus on the conversation at hand.
The pulsating music and the chaotic atmosphere of the party seems to close in around you. Suddenly a thought crosses your mind, and you turn to Yunho, considering your options.
"Do you want to get out of here?" you ask, your voice barely audible over the party noise.
Your question snaps Yunho out of his thoughts, and he looks back up at you as if he had been caught taking in your form. His gaze meets yours, and for a brief moment, you can see the vulnerability in his eyes. It is a rare sight, and it makes you feel even more connected to him.
It takes less than a second for Yunho to answer, "Yes."
Without further hesitation, he intertwines your fingers with his, and you both rush towards the exit of the house. Yunho's larger frame shields you from the reckless partiers who are going strong, ensuring you don't get caught in the chaos of the crowd. The touch of his hand is both reassuring and electrifying, and it feels like an unspoken agreement between the two of you; an escape from the madness into a more tranquil and intimate setting.
You are not sure how you ended up at Yunhoâs apartment, yet you cannot quite complain. Since the study session at his house you have desired to be back at his, it was so comforting and peaceful in his house and you love it there.Â
"You can make yourself at home, I'm going to grab us some food," Yunho explains as he opens the door to his cosy apartment. He moves to grab his wallet from the coffee table, ready to head out to pick up the food.Â
However, as he attempts to pass you and make his way to the door, you stand in front of him, blocking his path. The look on your face reveals your disappointment, and it is clear that you donât want him to leave so soon.
"Can we order it?" you ask, your voice filled with a longing for his company.
Yunho hesitates for a moment, weighing the options, but he ultimately replies, "It'll be quicker for me to get it now."
Despite his practical reasoning, you insisted, "Please stay with me Yunho."
Yunho canât help but be touched by your plea. The vulnerability in your voice causes a flutter in his chest, and he is acutely aware of the genuine connection that has developed between you. He smiles and relents, realising that he doesnât want to leave you either.
"Okay," he speaks softly, "I'll order it."
Your gratitude was evident in your eyes, and you knew you had made the right decision. Yunho's presence is something you cherished, and you are both beginning to understand just how much the other means to you.
You settle onto his couch, and soon enough the Chinese takeout that you had ordered arrives, the delightful aroma filling the room. It is a welcomed comfort that you both enjoy as you unwrap the containers and share the delicious meal.Â
You watch as Yunho picks a movie that he recommends, and you were intrigued to see his choice.
As you and Yunho start to watch the movie, you canât help but feel a chill in the room. The soft glow from the TV illuminated your silhouette, the short dress you are wearing now seems impractical in the cosy setting.
Yunho, ever attentive, notices your discomfort and decides to speak up. "Are you cold?" he inquires, a hint of concern in his voice.
You hesitate for a moment but soon admit, "Yeah, a little."
Without further ado, Yunho offers a solution. "I have some warmer clothes you can borrow if you want. I could grab them for you."
His thoughtful gesture leaves you flustered, but you manage to stammer out a grateful "Yes, please." Your heart warms at the consideration he shows, and you appreciate his willingness to make you more comfortable.
Yunho quickly gets up and disappears into his bedroom. He returns with a hoodie and a pair of sweatpants, both of which were his own. His choice of clothing was deliberate, as he handed you his favourite hoodie. He has often wondered what you would look like wearing it, and now he has the perfect excuse to find out. The hoodie is warm and smells like him, making you feel closer to him in a way you hadn't anticipated.
Yunho canât help but watch you with a warm smile as you accept the clothes. However, the smile quickly fades as he realises his mistake, and he feels his cheeks heat up in embarrassment.
"Oh, sorry," he quickly stutters out, chuckling nervously as he ruffles the back of his hair, "You can change in my bedroom."
You laugh gently at him, he is so cute.
âThank you,â you smile before walking into his bedroom.
Entering Yunho's bedroom, you canât help but take in the clean and organised space. His room is a testament to his meticulous nature, and you appreciate the attention to detail. But what truly catches your eye are the posters of various games adorning the walls. You admired the artwork and canât help but think that they add a personal touch to the room.
Shaking off the distraction, you proceed to change into Yunho's clothes. The hoodie he has given you is larger than you expected, enveloping you in warmth and reaching down to your mid-thigh. The realisation of just how big Yunho begins to dawn on you.
His hoodie seems to swallow you in its comfort, and you canât help but feel a little bit smaller. His physical presence is undeniable; he is taller than you, his shoulders are broad, and his hands are significantly larger than yours. The contrast is alluring, and you canât deny that the thought of him towering over you, his sheer size and strength, stirs something within you.
You feel arousal pooling in between your legs, but you push aside the feeling, not sure if Yunho would feel the same way.
The hoodie is so long, you make a bold choice to not wear the sweatpants, seeing as the hoodie covers everything. Plus, there's no harm in seeing Yunhoâs reaction.
You step out of the room, and Yunho is skimming between channels, trying to find a different movie to watch.
When Yunho hears your footsteps approaching the living room, he turns around to look at you, expecting to see you in his clothes. However, what he sees leaves his heart nearly stopping. There you stand, wearing nothing but his hoodie, your legs exposed and on full display.Â
Yunho's breath catches in his throat, and he swallows deeply, trying to suppress the flood of sensations and indecent thoughts that surge through his mind. His cheeks flush a deep shade of red, and he is unable to tear his eyes away from you, his gaze inadvertently lingering on your enticing figure.
In this moment, he finds himself captivated by your beauty and the unexpected intimacy of the situation, struggling to maintain his composure. The sight of you in his hoodie was something he had never expected, and it sends his heart and mind into a whirlwind of emotions and desires.
"What's wrong?" you inquire, noticing the wide-eyed and bright red expression on Yunho's face as he gazes at you with an intensity you haven't seen before.
It is as if a switch has flipped in Yunho's mind, and suddenly, confidence takes over his being. You watch in amazement as he stands up from the couch and moves with a determined purpose towards you.Â
With each step, it is evident that he is almost out of breath, his chest heaving with a mixture of excitement and nervousness. He stops in front of you, his eyes locking onto yours with an intensity that sends shivers down your spine. For a moment, you feel like you are the only person in the world for him, and the possessiveness in his gaze doesnât go unnoticed.
Yunho's large hands land gently on your shoulders, and they slowly trail down to clasp yours. His touch is electrifying, and as he guides you backward, you soon find yourself pressed against the wall, pinned there by his presence. The air seems charged with an unspoken desire, and you canât help but be captivated by this new side of Yunho.
Yunho murmurs your name, his voice thick with desire and uncertainty. He continues, "You can tell me to stop if you want..."
You donât hesitate for a moment. In a hushed, eager tone, you reply, "Yunho, just kiss me for fuck's sake."
Yunho gently cups your cheek, his dark eyes locked onto yours with a mixture of tenderness and desire. Leaning closer, his lips press against your cheek, leaving a trail of fire in their wake as they venture down toward your mouth. He pauses for a moment, watching you closely, his breath brushing across your face, sending shivers down your spine.
With careful consideration, he presses his lips to the corner of your mouth, testing the waters, and eliciting a soft gasp from you. Feeling the tightening grip of your hand on his shirt, he gains the reassurance he needs to continue. Slowly, he deepens the kiss, his lips melding with yours, the softness and warmth sending a wave of astonishment through your body. His lips move against yours and all the feelings of the past few months pour into the kiss.
Yunho delicately probes his tongue into your mouth, you canât help but respond. Your fingers tighten their hold on his shirt, and a surge of electric sensations course through your body, leaving you breathless and eager for more.Â
Yunho's kiss tastes like pure indulgence, a blend of desire and longing that leaves you yearning for more. The feeling is exquisite, and you canât help but moan softly in response to the intensity of the moment.Â
His lips leave yours, trailing down your neck from the curve of your jaw. Soft gasps escape your lips as he explores the sensitive skin of your throat, sending shivers down your spine as he presses you harder against the wall, the heat of the kiss overcoming the two of you. The pleasure is overwhelming, and you instinctively threw your head back, granting him better access to your neck.Â
Yunho breaks away from the kiss, a hint of frustration in his eyes as he tosses his glasses aside, irritated by their intrusion. His dark and intense gaze is now fully revealed, making you realise the depth of his desire. Without delay, he reconnects your lips with a hungry passion that leaves you breathless.
His hands begin a journey down your waist, their touch igniting sparks of pleasure. With astonishing ease, he lifts you off your feet, his strength both surprising and exciting. Instinctively, you wrap your legs around his waist, and that is when you feel his hardness prodding you through your underwear. You suddenly feel extremely thankful for not wearing the sweatpants as he now has easier access to where you want him most.
Yunho carries you toward his bedroom with an air of urgency, his strides confident and determined. With a swift, well-placed kick, he sends the bedroom door wide open.
He gently sits on the edge of the mattress, you find yourself in his lap, the warmth of his body enveloping you. The world outside fades into insignificance, and you are left with a sense of anticipation that sends shivers down your spine. The connection between you and Yunho grew stronger, and the intensity of the moment only heightened your desire for one another.
Yunhoâs hands travel to your hips, where he kneads the flesh appreciatively. With a calculated move, he pushes you down onto himself, grinding you against his hardness. This causes the both of you to moan into the kiss, the both of you addicted to the sound.
âYunho, please,â you mutter into the kiss, needing relief that you know Yunho will provide.
âWhat do you want, beautiful?â Yunho groans back against your lips when he feels you grinding yourself onto him.
âYou.â you say with confidence, âalways been you.â you declare and it has Yunhoâs heart racing even faster in his chest.
Yunho realises the fun he can have in this situation, and he feels addicted to the control he has over you. You bury your face into Yunhoâs neck, your embarrassment becoming apparent.
âHow badly?â Yunho teases as he places long hot kisses on the side of your neck.
âPlease Yunho, please.â usually you would feel humiliated, yet you have no time to feel any form of embarrassment, your desire is too strong. With a swift yet tender movement, Yunho deftly flips the two of you over, your back now resting on the plush comfort of his bed. He settles between your open legs, the space between you filled with electrifying anticipation as the world around you blurred into obscurity.Â
âSince youâre such a good girl, I have to take care of you, donât I?â
Yunho's transformation is nothing short of mesmerising. The once innocent aura that surrounded him has gone, replaced by a commanding presence that leaves your head spinning. It is as if he has unlocked a hidden side of himself, and the intensity of his actions and words leave you completely captivated and yearning for more.
With a gentle motion, Yunho pulls the hoodie off, revealing your bare chest to his hungry eyes. He takes in the sight of your naked top half and your panties and it is better than all the times he has imagined it. Your nipples immediately harden in the chilly air and you hastily rush to cover yourself.
âDo not,â Yunho's gentle yet commanding voice holds you in its sway, preventing you from covering yourself. He takes hold of your wrists, his words alone enough to convey his desire, and you obediently nod in agreement, unable to resist his irresistible influence.
âGorgeous,â he whispers as he scans over your body.
Yunho begins to leave soft kisses across your collar bones, reaching your shoulders and neck as he simultaneously massages the flesh of your breast. He leaves open mouthed kisses on your skin, suckling and biting marks into your skin that only he gets to see.
Slowly, he takes one nipple into his mouth, swirling his tongue around it, sucking it, and biting the sensitive nub, an action that has you arching and moaning into his touch.
âYou sound so beautiful moaning for me.â Yunho growls before moving to your other nipple and giving it the same attention, making sure to watch your every reaction.
In an agonising pace, Yunho trails his kisses down and you can almost feel yourself shaking from excitement as he nears where you need him the most.
You almost explode the second you feel Yunhoâs mouth trailing along your thighs, his teeth nipping at the sensitive flesh.
Yunho chuckles darkly when he hears your excited gasps and moans, the sounds are like a beautiful melody to him, causing him to want more.
Yunho's sudden act of sitting up to remove his jumper catches your attention, and your eyes remain fixated on him. What you see beneath his clothes surprises you. His toned, well-defined upper body, his waist is slender, his shoulders are broad, giving him a somewhat hourglass-like figure. While he isnât overly muscular, his physique was indeed a captivating sight. Chiselled abs adorn his stomach, and an irresistible desire wells up within you, compelling you to kiss every inch of his flawless skin.
Yunho's chest swells with pride as he observes your intense gaze on his body. He can hardly believe the turn of events and the desire he sees in your eyes.
Yunho smirks as your hands fumble towards his belt, desperately wanting his pants off.Â
"Patience, doll," Yunho asserts, his voice exuding confidence as he helps you remove his belt.
Left in only his boxers, you can see his length outlined through his black boxers and your breath is momentarily taken away. He is big, very big. You cannot help but let out a whimper of desperation as you look back up Yunho, who has a cocky grin on his features.
Leaning down, he starts placing light kisses on your stomach and thighs, getting close, but not quite close enough for your liking.
Instinctively, you run your fingers through his locks, trying to push him closer to where you need him. You hear Yunho chuckle at your eagerness, his heart racing knowing you want him as much as he wants you.
You watch Yunhoâs every move, wanting to imprint every moment deep into your memory.
Yunho presses a gentle kiss against your clothed core, eliciting a soft mewl from your lips and Yunho hums in appreciation. You feel your whole body heat up in embarrassment as Yunho pulls your panties down, tossing them to the side of the room. You attempt to close your legs, feeling extremely exposed. Yunho feels himself losing self control as he looks at your soaking core, yet he tells himself to control his urges, wanting to make this last for much longer.
Yunho isnât pleased with this and he lets out a growl as he speaks, âopen those legs and let me see that pretty pussy.â
He grips your thighs, forcing them open and you can't help feel another rush of arousal course through you from his strength. It annoys you how slow he is, taking his time to get where you need him, he is too busy enjoying every small reaction, your desperation and eye fucking you, gauging every one of your gasps and twitches.
Yet the second his lips are on your core, the loud moan you let out is close to a scream and you feel him raviging you. His mouth works expertly against you, his tongue alternating between flicking your clit to lapping at your soaking hole has you seeing stars.Â
Your body squirms with pleasure under Yunho's skilled touch, your fingers instinctively weaving into his hair as he eats you like you are his last meal.
âYunho, pleaseâŠâ your voice is hoarse as you look down at him.
Yunho gazes up at you, a teasing smirk playing on his lips, making your thoughts hazy.
âPlease what, pretty?â Yunho questions, yet as you are about to answer, he slips in one of his long fingers into your core. The second he feels your warm walls around him, he feels himself fighting the urge to destroy you right there and then. You jolt at the sensation, tears lining your eyes because of how desperate you are to be filled by him.
âWant youâŠneed youâŠâ you say, your voice shaky as you throw your head back against the pillow.
âOh baby,â Yunho tuts, his voice almost condescending as he stares up at your fucked out state, âyour pussy is so tight, I need to prep you before, donât want you to get hurt.âÂ
Yunho's words send another wave of desire coursing through your veins. The contrast between his stern tone and his evident care for your well-being leaves you feeling both dizzy and achingly needy.
âYou don't want to get hurt, do you now?â Yunho questions, gently slapping your thigh to get your attention back on him.
âNo, I donât,â you exclaim, doing anything to please the man in front of you.Â
âGood girl,âÂ
He's ruthless, entering another finger into your wet hole, his tongue alternating sucks and nips on your clit. With ease, he manages to find the spot inside you that sets fireworks through you and you feel the coil in your belly starting to tighten in pleasure.Â
"So fucking good, doll." He groans, his face pressed against your core has your cunt throbbing. âCan you even take my dick? I donât want to hurt you when youâre being so good for me.â
You feel yourself on the edge of an orgasm, desperate to topple over the edge. All you need is a little encouragement, and you're extremely glad Yunho is so good at reading you.
âLet loose, baby. Be a good girl and cum on my fingers.âÂ
You let out a loud moan, almost a scream as your orgasm hits you and Yunho holds your shaking body down, licking your clit softly as you finish.
Before you can finish riding through your high, Yunho continues to kiss your pussy gently while adding a finger, the sudden stretch in your hole has you whining and writhing around from the sensitivity, his rough movements from his long fingers has you shaking even more. You beg for him to slow down and, thankfully he leans back, a satisfied smirk on his face as he watches you twitch beneath him.
Before you can comment on anything, Yunho leans down and captures you in another heated kiss, and you moan when you can taste yourself on his lips, a new rush of arousal flooding through your body.
âDo you want to keep going? We can stop if you want to.â Yunho's voice, filled with concern, warms your heart, but you can't help the groan that escapes your lips.Â
"Iâd love to continue," you rush on your words, your enthusiasm unabated. Chuckling at your eagerness, Yunho moves back slightly, running a hand through his hair as he gazes down at you, a mix of pride and desire evident in his eyes as he looks at your fucked out state.
âWait shit, I don't know if i have a condom,â Yunho says, worried as he ruffles through his bedside table, not able to find any.
âWait really?â you question, not even the slightest bit worried about him not having a condom, in fact you almost try to hide your excitement, âitâs okay.âÂ
âWhat?âÂ
âWe don't need it, I'm on the pill.â You exclaim, pulling him by his hand closer to you, so he sits on the bed next to you.
Yunho is taken aback by your boldness, yet he finds it extremely hard to hide his excitement. The low groan that escapes his lips doesn't go unnoticed by you, further fueling the growing intensity of the moment. Yunho looks up at you, his eyes dark as he studies your face for any form of discomfort. When he doesn't see any, he almost moans at the thought of finishing inside of you. âFuck, baby. You're going to be the death of me.â
The second Yunho removes his boxers, your mouth is almost watering at the sight of his length. Not only is he long, but he is girthy, standing tall. Your mouth hangs slightly open as you take in the sight. You can feel your pussy throbbing at the thought of how well he is going to stretch you out.
âLike what you see?â Just like that, the caring Yunho is once again replaced with the cocky Yunho that you just love.
Instead of firing the bratty comment that is on the tip of your tongue, you simply nod your head, too overcome with the need for him to just destroy you.
Yunho leans over you again, spreading your legs wide to fit right between them, he takes his time rubbing up and down your slit, gathering your arousal to lube himself up. Your whines and whimpers are like music to his ears, and he doesn't know if he can ever get enough of you like this.
Lining up with your entrance, he takes his time to gently slide just the tip in, causing you to gasp lightly. Yunho buries his head into your neck, biting his lip as he attempts to maintain his composure. He knows he needs to take it slow in order to not hurt you, but the way you are clenching around him has his mind spinning with arousal.
He gets back up, his intense gaze watching your every expression as he eases himself in, going at a steady pace. The sting is definitely present and you squint at the light pain.
âDeep breaths, beautiful. Youâre doing so well.âÂ
You grab his toned arms as he pushes himself further in, his own breaths getting shallow as he feels your warm walls envelop his length.
âStay focused, Yunho,â he thinks to himself, over and over, desperately trying to keep his composure, yet it proves more difficult by every passing second that your tight pussy sucks him in.
Pleasure surges through you but the only thing you are able to focus on is how full you feel. Your breath catches in your throat and you tense up as he gradually bottoms out, groaning, "So big."
âYeah, does it feel good?â Yunhoâs voice is raspy as he cages you in his arms, his eyes scanning your face.
âSo good⊠please move.â is all you manage to say.
Yunho starts with some slow, teasing thrusts dragging his cock out before pushing it back in and it has you mewling out in pleasure.
âFuck youâre so tight,â Yunho chokes out, his sanity practically gone as he feels your tight walls hugging his cock so nicely.
The beautiful sight of him on top of you, sweaty and lust ridden has you moaning and clenching around his cock. Wrapping your arms tightly around his strong back, your nails dig into his skin as he increases his pace.Â
"Does this feel good, pretty?"
You are only able to manage out a moan of approval, letting him know, yes, he is doing good. Yunho chuckles against your skin as you let out noises of pleasure, every one spurring him on and making him desperate to make you finish again. In a purposeful movement, Yunho leans his hips back slightly, so his cock is angled in a way where it hits your g spot perfectly with every thrust. Yunho knows he has found it the second your words and moan become a mixed blabbing mess, with this he smirks. He almost doesn't want to stop, he is having too much fun with you.
Yunho grunts as he starts thrusting even faster, his hand coming down to flick your clit, needing you to come on his cock. He needs you to finish before him.
You feel your orgasm approaching fast, and Yunho can tell by the way you clench and claw at his arms, pulling him down to lock him in a heated kiss, he swallows your moans and whimpers happily.
Yunho pulls away from your swollen lips to bury his face in your neck, whispering praise into your ear.Â
âWho is making you feel this good, doll?â he whispers in his deep voice, âdo you want to cumm, pretty girl? Be a good girl and cum on my big dick, I know you want to.â Â
The coil in your belly tightens even more, your legs starting to shake around him as you moan out his name pathetically.Â
âThatâs it, beautiful, milk my cock dry.âÂ
âNeed to cum,â
Yunhoâs chest tightens at the desperate tone in your voice and for a moment, he knows he is definitely able to get used to your desperate whines.
âGo ahead, baby cum for me, let the whole neighbourhood know how good Iâm making you feel.â
That's all it takes for the coil in your stomach to snap, and your orgasm hits you hard. Intense pleasure ripples through you like tsunami waves, shaking your whole body and making your toes curl as your fingernails dig into his arms. The sensation overwhelms you as your world narrows down to the electrifying connection you share with Yunho.
Yunho follows in suit, his hips stuttering as he cums deep inside of you, his choked swears and moans in your ear as he wraps his strong arms around you, securing you in a tight embrace as the two of you ride out your orgasms.
After a few moments of silence, the only sounds to be heard in the room are the deep inhales and exhales of you and Yunho, the two of you lost in the aftermath of your passionate encounter. The intimacy lingers in the air, wrapping around you like a warm, comfortable blanket.
Yunho gently sits up, his arms shaky as he tries to regain his composure. A layer of sweat covers his face, and even in the low light of his room, you think he looks absolutely handsome. His dishevelled hair and flushed cheeks only add to his charm, and you can't help but admire him as he catches his breath.
Slowly, he pulls out, his seed spilling out of your swollen hole, a sight which has Yunho getting hard once again, yet he pushes the thoughts to the side and quickly rushes to the bathroom to grab a washcloth for you.
You can't help but feel a wave of insecurity and vulnerability as Yunho steps away to fetch the washcloth. The moment he disappears from your sight, a rush of unease washes over you, and tears begin to pool in your eyes. You never expected this level of intimacy, and now, seeing him leave even briefly, you fear he might be having second thoughts.
When he returns with the washcloth, he immediately notices the glistening tears in your eyes. Panic sets in, and he rushes to your side, cradling you in his arms.
"What's wrong?" he asks, his voice filled with genuine concern. "Did I do something to upset you?"
You sniffle and shake your head. "I'm sorry. I thought you disappeared for good, and I got scared."
Yunho's expression softens as he caresses your cheek, his thumb gently wiping away a tear. "Oh, baby, I would never do that. I promise you, I'm here for you. I'm so sorry for putting that thought in your mind."
He holds you close, offering the warmth and comfort you desperately need, reassuring you that he's not going anywhere.
âYunho?â You look towards Yunho, whose gaze is already set on you with an affectionate gaze. Tenderly, he pushes a stray hair behind your ear, and a sense of comfort washes over you.
Leaning down, he places a soft kiss on your forehead, murmuring, "Yes, baby?"
Your heart flutters at the endearment as you continue, "What are we?"
Yunho raises an eyebrow, his lips quirking into a warm smile. He knew this question was coming, and he's more than prepared to answer. "Well, if you'll have me, I'd love to be your nerdy boyfriend."
A surge of happiness fills you, and you can't hold back your grin. "Only if you'll have me as your 'not so nerdy' girlfriend?"
Yunho chuckles and cups your face with his hands, sealing the moment with a sweet kiss. "Deal," he whispers against your lips, his arms wrapping even harder around you, securing you in a warm embrace.
âLetâs clean you up, pretty.â
â
âSitting in Professor Turner's office, you're feeling a mixture of excitement and nervousness. Yunho is right beside you, his presence giving you comfort and assurance. Professor Turner, the mentor you deeply respect, and her opinion matters greatly to you. You've been working tirelessly to improve your grades, and this is the moment of reckoning. To tell whether you are going to be expelled or not.
Professor Turner reviews your recent exam results, and you can't help but glance at Yunho. He's been your constant support, helping you study, explaining complex concepts, and motivating you to push your limits. There's a fond smile on his face, his warm eyes reflecting his pride in your accomplishments.
Finally, Professor Turner finishes her review and looks up at you with an encouraging smile. "I don't know how you did it, but your grades have not only improved, they have excelled. You are somehow one of the best in my class right now."
Your heart swells with pride as you realise the significance of her words. Tears fill your eyes and you feel the heavy weight that has been on your heart for months finally lift.
Yunho's proud smile widens, and the love in his eyes grows even more apparent. You feel a deep sense of accomplishment and happiness, knowing that with his help and your dedication, you've managed to exceed your own expectations and impress one of your most respected professors.
You look over at Yunho, gratitude shining in your eyes, and say,
"Well, I had an amazing tutor."
