Mei rocked back and forth on her heels before sitting down, setting a plate of cookies down beside her. A single twitch of a tail was the only acknowledgement Wukong gave towards her presence.

"...Sooooooo. I've been wondering something." Mei started, and then paused. A short moment of silence came over them, broken by Wukong eventually letting out a small "hm?". Taking that as all the approval she needed to continue, Mei took a breath and; "Are we like them, at all?"

"Psh, no, you're not." Wukong seemingly didn't need any context on what she was saying, reaching over blindly to snag a cookie off of the plate sitting in between them as he continued, "In fact, those old guys would've been appalled at some of the stuff you guys have done, hah!"

He accentuated his point by taking a harsh bite out of his cookie, but Mei didn't miss the way his gaze briefly flickered to the side before snapping back to continue to stare at the horizon. Mei let out a little hum, shifting to lean her head on her hand as she stared at him.

"Do we remind you of them anyways?"

Wukong froze. And then, for the first time since Mei had joined him at the cliff's edge, he turned to look at her.

In Wukong's eyes, Mei's appearance flickered, and became Ao Lie, staring at Wukong with an inquisitive and yet slightly concerned look- one that was currently mirrored on Mei's face.

Wukong swallowed. And then he slowly let out a long breath.

"...Yeah. Yeah, you do."

be proud of your original characters. it's no easy task to create a character from scratch, to make them believable and real and human. it takes time. it takes dedication. so what if they aren't perfect right away? so what if there are still things you're only now figuring out after time? characters evolve, they go through changes and arcs and stories just like real people do. and it's okay if your character develops over time, you don't need to have it all figured out right away. there are some things that will only ever clear up after writing them for a while, finding their voice, and seeing the way they interact with other characters. but this is your character, your creation, and you deserve to feel proud about it no matter what.
